Near?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105303497","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Since reporting record Q1 revenue in May, Advanced Micro Devices stock has slipped 18%.On Friday, AM","content":"

Since reporting record Q1 revenue in May, Advanced Micro Devices stock has slipped 18%.

On Friday, AMD stock sank to $81.57, a new 2022 low close, and has dropped 46% so far in 2022.

With AMD expected to report Q2 earnings in a month, now may be a good time to buy AMD stock.

On Jun. 17, Advanced Micro Devices stock set an unfortunate new record for 2022. With its Friday close of $81.57, AMD stock is at its lowest point in 2022. Itâs down nearly 46% so far in 2022 and shares are at prices not seen since last June.

AMD shares have fallen victim to the long list of economic concerns that have battered markets in 2022. Chief among those are war, rising interest rates, inflation, and fear of a recession. Many of AMDâs products â from PC processors to graphics cards and the custom chips found in game consoles â could feel the impact if a recession hit and consumers cut spending.

In addition, PC sales that found new life during the remote work stage of the pandemic have begun to slide once again. AMD may be gaining market share with its Ryzen PC processors, but with that market shrinking, it takes a little luster off the accomplishment.

All of this may not make for a strong argument for buying AMD stock.

However, this is not just any tech company. AMD shares were the top performer in the S&P 500 in 2019 and it put on a very strong showing for the next two years, as well. Priced this low, there is a lot of room for gains to return to 2021 levels. The next potential catalyst to kick off a recovery is just a month away, when the company reports its second quarter (Q2) earnings. If your portfolio could use a high-growth stock, AMD stock is a buy at this price â assuming you are looking long-term.

AMD Analyst Day Showed the Road Map to Ongoing Growth

How do we know that Advanced Micro Devices is positioned to continue delivering growth? Itâs not unheard of for a company to put up impressive numbers for a few years, then lose momentum when it falls into the trap of coasting.

I have no reason to suspect that AMD is going to rest on its laurels. To drive the point home, the company recently held its annual Financial Analyst Day.

There, AMD:

â[âŚ] outlined its strategy to deliver its next phase of growth driven by the companyâs expanded portfolio of high-performance and adaptive computing products spanning the data center, embedded, client, and gaming markets.â

The company announced architecture roadmaps for new CPUs, graphics cards, and adaptive computing. AMD sees its addressable market as being worth $300 billion. And as InvestorPlace contributor Larry Ramer reported, the company is confident in its ability to deliver 20% annual sales increases.

With AMD shares worth half of what they were last November, this makes a strong case for buying AMD stock.

Donât Overlook the Metaverse

Donât make the mistake of overlooking the metaverse when it comes to AMD â especially in areas like data centers. Iâve written before about the fact that few people mention AMD when it comes to the metaverse. Other tech companies tend to get the spotlight. But make no mistake, if the metaverse takes off as expected, Advanced Micro Devices will be one of the companies that benefits in a big way.

And so will AMD stock.

Bottom Line: Should You Buy AMD Stock?

Through 2022, AMD stock has rallied after earnings. After Q4 2021 was reported in February, AMD shares shot up 14% over the next week. When the company reported its Q1 2022 earnings in May â with record revenue â it was a single-day 9% pop.

However, in both cases, the rallies were short-lived. Odds are that the same pattern will repeat after the company reports Q2 earnings in July.

Whether Q2 earnings turn out to be the rally catalyst that sticks this time or not, AMD stock at current prices is awfully tempting. You will have to ride out some volatility as the economic concerns of 2022 continue to roil the market. However, the long-term growth potential of AMD stock makes it a lot easier to overlook any risk of potential disappointment in the short-term.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Should You Buy AMD Stock as Q2 Earnings Draw Near?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nShould You Buy AMD Stock as Q2 Earnings Draw Near?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-06-23 09:33 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Since reporting record Q1 revenue in May, Advanced Micro Devices stock has slipped 18%.On Friday, AMD stock sank to $81.57, a new 2022 low close, and has dropped 46% so far in 2022.With AMD expected ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AMD":"çžĺ˝čś ĺžŽĺ Źĺ¸"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2022/06/as-q2-earnings-date-draws-nearer-should-you-buy-amd-stock/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1105303497","content_text":"Since reporting record Q1 revenue in May, Advanced Micro Devices stock has slipped 18%.On Friday, AMD stock sank to $81.57, a new 2022 low close, and has dropped 46% so far in 2022.With AMD expected to report Q2 earnings in a month, now may be a good time to buy AMD stock. On Jun. 17, Advanced Micro Devices stock set an unfortunate new record for 2022. Even though the Civil War had been over for two months, slavery remained in Texas.

Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Texas and famously read General Orders No. 3, which stated, âThe people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.â

That day came two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863. Not all states immediately ended slavery when Lincoln signed the order during the Civil War.

While other dates â such as the Confederate Armyâs surrender in the Civil War, the ratification of the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery, or the day Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation â could similarly be viewed as the âendâ of slavery in the U.S., Juneteenth is the day most people associate with its conclusion.

Congress moved to establish Juneteenth as a federal holiday in June 2021, and the holiday went into effect immediately. The bill, signed into law by President Biden, designated the date as Juneteenth National Independence Day.

June 19 this year falls on a Sunday, so most federal employees will get Monday, June 20 off. Some private companies last year also made Juneteenth a paid holiday for employees.

Congress had not added a federal holiday since Martin Luther King Day in 1983.

Juneteenth celebrations may include religious services, educational events, family gatherings and festivals. A short-lived rally in ârisk-onâ plays and news of Chairman Ryan Cohenincreasing his position in GME stock helped drive shares from less than $80 to nearly $200 in just over two weeks. Since then, however, shares of the video game retailer and meme stock legend have pulled back below the $150 level.

This move is in line with the overall market. Last monthâs shrugging off of the Federal Reserveâs rate hikes has morphed into growing concern that rising rates will lead to an economic slowdown or a recession.

Investors may be tempted to buy the dip in GME stock, especially given managementâs plans to implement a stock split. But keep in mind that external factors are likely to outweigh any boost from the split plans. In the month ahead, GME stock could easily drift back below $100 per share.

Will Split Plans Be a Catalyst for GME Stock?

In late March, GameStop announced plans for a stock split that would roughly triple its number of shares from 300 million to 1 billion. GME stock initially shot up on the news.

This stock split plan is in the early stages. Shareholders still need to vote and approve it. However, given that many stocks have seen a lift from splitting (even as it changes nothing about the stockâs underlying value), it is likely shareholders will approve a split of GME stock.

But does it make sense to buy ahead of this event, entering a position now and selling if/when shares pop on further developments related to a split?

You may chalk up last monthâs big spike in GME stock to the news of Cohenâs insider buying, but the marketâs renewed enthusiasm for meme plays likely played a larger role. In other words, company developments are serving more as an accelerant, with market conditions determining which direction the stock moves.

For the split to result in a dramatic move higher for shares, investor sentiment needs to be on its side. Put simply, thatâs far from a given.

Market Conditions Are Not on GameStopâs Side

Last month, the market seemed to declare interest rate hikes and other Fed monetary tightening measures were no big deal. Yet, so far this month, it seems theyâve started to once again become a concern. Analysts and economists are warning of increased recession odds, with those at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs saying to expect one in 2023.

This, of course, doesnât mean it will be smooth sailing for stocks until then. I wouldnât count on a repeat of the short-lived euphoria for ârisk-onâ plays we saw last month. As interest rates rise, risky, richly-priced equities (including meme stocks) could continue to experience downward pressure.

In short, itâs risky to buy GME stock on its stock split catalyst. Thereâs no guarantee a split approval and implementation will move the needle for shares. And unfavorable market conditions are likely to weigh on GME stock over the next year, perhaps pushing it back below $100 per share.

Avoid GME Stock For Now

The speculative frenzy that helped GME stock make history will continue to cool. As it does, some of the more skittish âApesâ could also cash out.

As Iâve long argued, once GameStopâs pool of meme-focused shareholders thins out, shares will in time move toward a more rational price. That would be a price that accurately accounts for the upside potential of its e-commerce transformation plans. Whether thatâs in line with analyst price targets or below them doesnât matter. It will be a price well below what shares trade for today.

Given the extent to which market conditions will drive its next move, donât buy GME stock due to its planned split.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
A Stock Split Wonât Save the Day For GameStop
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nA Stock Split Wonât Save the Day For GameStop\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-21 17:39 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shares of GameStop(GME) are falling again following a March rally. Some investors may be considering buying GME stock ahead of a planned stock split.Be careful, as market conditions are not in GameStop...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"GME":"游ć銿çŤ"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2022/04/a-stock-split-wont-save-the-day-for-gamestop-gme-stock/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1174703027","content_text":"Shares of GameStop(GME) are falling again following a March rally. Some investors may be considering buying GME stock ahead of a planned stock split.Be careful, as market conditions are not in GameStopâs favor.Following months of steady declines, GameStop(NYSE:GME) âApesâ received some relief in March. It will be a price well below what shares trade for today.Given the extent to which market conditions will drive its next move, donât buy GME stock due to its planned split.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":299,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9043974784,"gmtCreate":1655866571548,"gmtModify":1676535722064,"author":{"id":"4107257488900560","authorId":"4107257488900560","name":"JsonMadz","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/b874f580bd8c2fc70046c9e65eaffc76","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4107257488900560","authorIdStr":"4107257488900560"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Amd đ","listText":"Amd đ","text":"Amd đ","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9043974784","repostId":"1114815651","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1114815651","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1655865757,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1114815651?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-06-22 10:42","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMD Has A Better 5-Year Return Than Nvidia, Amazon, Microsoft and Wells Fargo","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1114815651","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.âs high-performance computing and visualization products help gamers get","content":"

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.âs high-performance computing and visualization products help gamers get the most from their favorite titles, and over the past five years, the most out of investors' portfolios.

Since June 2017, AMD stock's five-year return has outperformed a number of the worldâs most popular tech and multinational investment bank companies: Amazon.com, Inc., NVIDIA Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Wells Fargo & Co and Starbucks Corporation.

Advanced Micro Devices designs microprocessors for the computer and consumer electronics industries. This indicates the optimism of retail investors. But does this optimism reflect the business fundamentals for the stock? Let us take a look.Shares of GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) are rallying again, with the stock increasing 10.4% on Thursday to close at $134. In the past five days alone, the stock has shot up by 15.2%, indicating that the popularity of this meme stock refuses to abate among retail investors. However, this stock rally does not seem to reflect the fundamentals of GMEâs business. Earlier this week, GME delivered a mixed bag of Q1 results where revenues outpaced consensus estimates but profitability was disappointing. But it was GameStopâs investment in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrency that disappointed Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter. GME recently launched a digital wallet that would allow gamers to send, receive, store and use cryptocurrencies and NFTs across decentralized apps.Elaborating further, Pachter pointed out that console and mobile game developers, which are often large technology companies, would not be willing âto let a third party such as GameStop capture a meaningful share of consumer spending on-platform.âThe analyst added that multiple headwinds of supply chain issues, difficulty in procuring console hardware, and its âongoing digital mix shiftâ would likely erode GMEâs ânew and pre-owned software sales.âAccording to Pachter, in addition to the aforementioned challenges, GMEâs aim to launch an NFT marketplace could result in the company burning cash at a significant rate for a better part of the next year or longer.By the analystâs estimate, GME is likely to exhaust its cash balance of $1.04 billion at the end of Q1 âwithin the next year.â Pachter added, âIf this happens, it will likely trigger one or more capital raises that could dilute existing investors.âAs a result, the analyst remained bearish on the stock with a Sell rating and gave the lowest price target on the Street of $30. The analystâs price target implies a downside potential of 77.6%.Besides, Pachter, only one other analyst on the Street has covered the stock in the past three months. The consensus rating is a Moderate Sell with an average GME price target of $70, implying a downside potential of 47.8% at current levels.ConclusionIt is evident that analysts like Pachter consider GMEâs increasing investment into cryptocurrencies and NFTs as a negative move and remain bearish about this stock.
