Revenue also beat expectations, coming in at $50.5 billion, up 9% from the previous year. The strong performance was largely driven by robust sales of gasoline-powered trucks and SUVs, which continue to be the primary profit generators for Ford.
\n\n
Despite facing challenges from a recent fire at a critical aluminum supplier's plant, Ford remains optimistic about its future prospects. The company announced plans to increase F-Series production by more than 50,000 trucks in 2026, creating approximately 1,000 new jobs.
This move aims to make up for lost production and meet the strong customer demand for its most lucrative vehicles.
\n\n
While Ford adjusted its full-year guidance to between $6 billion and $6.5 billion in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, down from the previous $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion range, investors were encouraged by the company's ability to navigate supply chain disruptions and its focus on its core strengths. The revised guidance includes the impact of the supplier fire and other challenges, but Ford noted that without these issues, it would have raised its outlook.
\n\n
The market's positive reaction to Ford's results and strategic plans underscores investor confidence in the company's ability to maintain profitability and adapt to changing market conditions. As Ford continues to leverage its strong position in the truck and SUV segments while also investing in electric vehicle technology, the stock's performance suggests that Wall Street sees potential for continued growth and success in the automotive industry's evolving landscape.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"F":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":446,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":488636790837864,"gmtCreate":1760319374943,"gmtModify":1760319378469,"author":{"id":"4109052217286120","authorId":"4109052217286120","name":"Dragonbody","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8c619fa4bf1941f68f7764c4f6441991","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4109052217286120","idStr":"4109052217286120"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$W&T Offshore(WTI)$ ","listText":"$W&T Offshore(WTI)$ ","text":"$W&T Offshore(WTI)$","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/c1463b2abba6f6c8042f8f3cc60b1856","width":"1086","height":"1713"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/488636790837864","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":593,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9960390035,"gmtCreate":1668057657027,"gmtModify":1676538006052,"author":{"id":"4109052217286120","authorId":"4109052217286120","name":"Dragonbody","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8c619fa4bf1941f68f7764c4f6441991","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4109052217286120","idStr":"4109052217286120"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Fiverr International Ltd.(FVRR)$ ","listText":"$Fiverr International Ltd.(FVRR)$ ","text":"$Fiverr International Ltd.(FVRR)$","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/3f18c1ffa1acc1bc8f8e6d3de0a0b4ff","width":"1242","height":"2448"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":5,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9960390035","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1029,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":508432804577696,"gmtCreate":1765150889022,"gmtModify":1765158407858,"author":{"id":"4109052217286120","authorId":"4109052217286120","name":"Dragonbody","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8c619fa4bf1941f68f7764c4f6441991","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4109052217286120","idStr":"4109052217286120"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"$Amazon.com(AMZN)$ ","listText":"$Amazon.com(AMZN)$ ","text":"$Amazon.com(AMZN)$","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/eb52690aa2d2d3602229fd619f6ab442","width":"1086","height":"1713"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/508432804577696","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9980495494,"gmtCreate":1665793726418,"gmtModify":1676537664731,"author":{"id":"4109052217286120","authorId":"4109052217286120","name":"Dragonbody","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8c619fa4bf1941f68f7764c4f6441991","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4109052217286120","idStr":"4109052217286120"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Miser] ","listText":"[Miser] ","text":"[Miser]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9980495494","repostId":"1155813758","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1155813758","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1665790466,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1155813758?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-10-15 07:34","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"SGX Weekly Review: TSMC Cuts Spending, US Inflation Data and MAS Adjusts its Exchange Rate Policy","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1155813758","media":"The Smart Investor","summary":"Welcome to the latest edition of top stock market highlights where we cover the latest corporate dev","content":"

Welcome to the latest edition of top stock market highlights where we cover the latest corporate developments as well as other interesting business news.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. I am bullish on the stock.Intel’s first-quarter 2022 financial results were closely watched as they represented a bellwether for the microprocessor industry in general. If Intel fails, it’s a bad omen for the rest as the company is a major competitor in the global chipmaker market.Judging by the price action of INTC shares immediately after releasing its quarterly earnings data, investors might be tempted to assume that the company is in poor shape. Granted, Intel is facing the same supply-chain problems that are causing issues for many technology-component manufacturers.Evaluating Intel’s fiscal status solely based on the superficial sentiment would be a mistake, however. Informed investors must get into the habit of looking under the hood and analyzing the actual results – which, in Intel’s case, actually aren’t too disappointing.Exceeding (Some) ExpectationsWere Intel’s first-quarter 2022 results a beat or a miss? The answer depends on whom you’re asking.Of course, if you ask Intel, the results were across-the-board beats. However, we need to bear in mind that the purpose of a corporate press release isn’t to highlight the negative data points.Still, it’s irrefutable that Intel exceeded its expectations “on both the top- and bottom-line,” as Pat Gelsinger, the company’s CEO, put it. Starting with the top-line results, Intel posted first-quarter 2022 GAAP revenue of $18.4 billion, down 7% year-over-year. Coincidentally, the company’s non-GAAP revenue also totaled $18.4 billion, and that figure represented a 1% year-over-year decline.Revenue declines aren’t typically good news, but both of those numbers exceeded Intel’s guidance provided back in January. Furthermore, Intel achieved company-record quarterly revenue in the company’s Network and Edge Group, Mobileye, and Foundry Services businesses. In other words, Intel’s top-line results were just fine, according to Intel. They were also in line with Wall Street’s expectations, as analysts had anticipated that the chipmaker would achieve $18.3 billion in quarterly revenue. Moreover, Intel beat its own expectations, as well as those of Wall Street, in terms of the company’s Q1 2022 top-line results. As it turned out, Intel’s non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) was 87 cents, exceeding Intel’s January guidance by 7 cents and beating the analyst community’s consensus estimate of 78 cents.A Strong Start? With the aforementioned fiscal figures in mind, Gelsinger declared that Intel had “a strong start to the year.” Granted, the beats (or at least meets) on the top and bottom lines support a fairly firm bullish case for INTC stock in 2022.Not everyone is impressed with Intel at the moment, though, and this sense of disappointment is reflected in the sharp, negative price action of INTC stock. What’s the sticking point that prompted a share-price decline, then? When a company posts beats and/or in-line financial results but the stock price sells off anyway, oftentimes there’s one clear culprit: guidance. It’s not unusual for investors to panic-sell their shares when they’re not happy with a company’s future fiscal outlook.“[W]e are reaffirming our full-year revenue guidance,” Intel CFO David Zinsner declared – which might sound fine, but it’s not what some investors apparently wanted to hear.Specifically, Intel maintained a Q2 2022 revenue outlook (both GAAP and non-GAAP) of $18 billion. Perhaps Intel’s investors were hoping for a higher figure than that.Reportedly, the analyst consensus call was for a second-quarter 2022 revenue outlook $18.3 billion. Therefore, Intel’s $18 billion outlook was a “miss” compared to what Wall Street envisioned.Let’s be sensible here, though. $18 billion, compared to $18.3 billion, isn’t a horrendous shortfall. Besides, this wasn’t an actual “miss” in terms of what actually happened. It only represents what Intel anticipates will happen during the current quarter. If this was the reason why people dumped their INTC stock shares, then there’s a huge buying opportunity to be capitalized on. After all, Intel’s trailing 12-month price-to-earnings ratio of 9.13 suggests that the stock is a major bargain for value-focused investors now.By the way, Intel is also paying a forward annual dividend yield of 3.21%, an icing on the cake for INTC stockholders.Wall Street’s TakeAccording to TipRanks’ analyst rating consensus, INTC is a Hold, based on six Buy, 13 Hold, and seven Sell ratings. The average Intel price target is $51.10, implying a 17.23% upside potential. The TakeawayIntel’s actual financial results weren’t particularly bearish, but some investors still found a cause for panic. In this instance, it was all about Intel’s forward guidance, which was only slightly below Wall Street’s expectations.Investors should consider starting or adding to their INTC stock positions because the initial response to Intel’s financial report wasn’t entirely reasonable. It’s a great example of how you can invest sensibly even when the markets aren’t being entirely sensible.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"INTC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9918398978,"gmtCreate":1664322372743,"gmtModify":1676537431192,"author":{"id":"4109052217286120","authorId":"4109052217286120","name":"Dragonbody","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/8c619fa4bf1941f68f7764c4f6441991","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4109052217286120","idStr":"4109052217286120"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Miser] ","listText":"[Miser] ","text":"[Miser]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9918398978","repostId":"2270221302","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2270221302","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1664320045,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2270221302?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-28 07:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"US STOCKS-S&P 500 Ends near Two-Year Low as Bear Market Deepens","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2270221302","media":"Reuters","summary":"S&P 500 closes at lowest since November 2020Utility, consumer discretionary sectors weigh heavilyInv","content":"

S&P 500 closes at lowest since November 2020

Utility, consumer discretionary sectors weigh heavily

Investors worry about shrinking corporate profit growth

Indexes: Dow -0.43%, S&P 500 -0.21%, Nasdaq +0.25%

Sept 27 (Reuters) - Wall Street sank deeper into a bear market on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 recording its lowest close in almost two-years as Federal Reserve policymakers showed an appetite for more interest rate hikes, even at the risk of throwing the economy into a downturn.

The benchmark S&P 500 is down about 24% from its record high close on Jan. 3. And anything that gives hope to the idea the Fed is becoming less hawkish is viewed as a positive for stocks, at least on a short-term basis," said Chuck Carlson, Chief Executive Officer at Horizon Investment Services in Hammond, Indiana.

Bets that the Fed will reduce the size of its rate hikes, as well as recent data pointing to a mild cooling in inflation, led the benchmark S&P 500 index to its second straight month of gains.

The CME FedWatch Tool showed futures traders seeing a 75% chance that the Fed will raise interest rates by 50 basis points at its December meeting, up from a 65% chance before Powell's comments were released. The FedWatch tool now shows a 25% chance of a 75 basis point increase.

Nvidia rallied more than 8%, Microsoft jumped 6.2% and Apple climbed 4.9%.

Tesla Inc's shares surged 7.7% after China Merchants Bank International said Tesla's sales in China in November were boosted by price cuts and incentives offered on its Model 3 and Model Y.

The S&P 500 climbed 3.09% to end the session at 4,079.97 points.

The Nasdaq gained 4.41% to 11,468.00 points, while Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.18% to 34,589.24 points.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index surged 5.85%, trimming its loss in 2022 to about 28%.

Volume on U.S. exchanges was heavy, with 15.0 billion shares traded, compared to an average of 11.1 billion shares over the previous 20 sessions.

For November, the S&P 500 climbed 5.4%, the Dow added 5.7% and the Nasdaq increased 4.4%.

An ADP National Employment report showed private employment increased by 127,000 in November, below expectations of 200,000 jobs, suggesting demand for labor was cooling amid high interest rates.

"The ADP employment number not meeting expectations fits into the narrative that the Fed will have room and start slowing down its rate hikes, and that definitely benefits interest rate sensitive assets," said Keith Buchanan, a portfolio manager at Globalt in Atlanta.

The Labor Department's closely watched nonfarm payrolls data is due on Friday. A report showed U.S. job openings falling to 10.334 million in October, against 10.687 million in the prior month.

Another reading showed the U.S. economy rebounded more strongly than initially thought in the third quarter.

The S&P 500 remains down about 14% so far in 2022, while the Nasdaq index has lost about 27%.

Biogen Inc jumped 4.7% after its experimental Alzheimer's drug slowed cognitive decline in a closely watched trial.

Advancing issues outnumbered falling ones within the S&P 500 by a 24.1-to-one ratio.

The S&P 500 posted 24 new highs and 1 new low; Economists expect nonfarm payrolls rose by 300,000 in August, according to data from Bloomberg.

The figure is likely to serve a key role in dictating the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision at its policy-setting meeting later this month. Investors will keep a close eye on jobs data after Fed Chair Jerome Powell asserted in ahawkish speech at the Jackson Hole symposium Fridayhe is willing to accept a softening labor market in exchange for mitigating inflation.

Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve walks in Teton National Park where financial leaders from around the world gathered for the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium outside Jackson, Wyoming, U.S., August 26, 2022. REUTERS/Jim Urquhart

“If there is a conflict in the Fed’s two mandates as they work to slow inflation, Chair Powell ranks price stability head and shoulders above maximum employment,” Jeff Klingelhofer, co-head of investments at Thornburg Investment Management said in a note on Friday.

Powell’sremarks sent markets tumbling, with all three major averages settling at four-week lows on Friday.

The Nasdaq plunged 3.9%, and the S&P 500 shed 3.3%, with both indexes logging their biggest one-day drops since June 13. The Dow Jones Industrial Average erased 1,000 points, or roughly 3% on Friday.

“There will very likely be some softening of labor market conditions,” Powell said in his speech.

“While higher interest rates, slower growth and softer labor market conditions will bring down inflation, they will also bring some pain to households and businesses,” Powell added. “These are the unfortunate costs of reducing inflation. But a failure to restore price stability would mean far greater pain.”

Up until Friday, some market participants had expected the U.S. central bank may pivot in its monetary tightening plans, but Powell and other officials have pushed back on the possibility of notching down rate hikes this year.

Inflation has shown signs of moderating, but continues to run sharply higher than the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%. Data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Friday showed consumer prices fell slightly last month, with headline PCE falling 0.1% between June and July, driven primarily by a 4.8% decline in energy prices. On a year-over-year basis, headline PCE rose 6.3% in July.

David Malpass, president of the World Bank Group, looks on next to a stuffed grizzly bear at Teton National Park, where financial leaders from around the world gathered for the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, outside Jackson, Wyoming, U.S., August 26, 2022. "The historical record cautions strongly against prematurely loosening policy.”

Elsewhere in labor market data,ADP will resume its private payrolls reportwith new a methodology on Wednesday after a temporary pause in June and July. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the release to show 300,000 private payrolls were added in August.

ADP's monthly private jobs report comes two days before the Labor Department releases its official jobs report. While the company’s print is an imperfect precursor to the government’s release, it offers a snapshot of job growth during the period.

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), Challenger Job Cuts, and initial weekly jobless claims are also on the docket of employment data set for release this week.

On the earnings front, the reporting season has largely wound down, but a few potentially market-moving results are still on tap. Economists expect nonfarm payrolls rose by 300,000 in August, according to data from Bloomberg.The figure is likely to serve a key role in dictating the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision at its policy-setting meeting later this month. Investors will keep a close eye on jobs data after Fed Chair Jerome Powell asserted in ahawkish speech at the Jackson Hole symposium Fridayhe is willing to accept a softening labor market in exchange for mitigating inflation.Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve walks in Teton National Park where financial leaders from around the world gathered for the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium outside Jackson, Wyoming, U.S., August 26, 2022. REUTERS/Jim Urquhart“If there is a conflict in the Fed’s two mandates as they work to slow inflation, Chair Powell ranks price stability head and shoulders above maximum employment,” Jeff Klingelhofer, co-head of investments at Thornburg Investment Management said in a note on Friday.Powell’sremarks sent markets tumbling, with all three major averages settling at four-week lows on Friday.The Nasdaq plunged 3.9%, and the S&P 500 shed 3.3%, with both indexes logging their biggest one-day drops since June 13. The Dow Jones Industrial Average erased 1,000 points, or roughly 3% on Friday.“There will very likely be some softening of labor market conditions,” Powell said in his speech.“While higher interest rates, slower growth and softer labor market conditions will bring down inflation, they will also bring some pain to households and businesses,” Powell added. “These are the unfortunate costs of reducing inflation. But a failure to restore price stability would mean far greater pain.”Up until Friday, some market participants had expected the U.S. central bank may pivot in its monetary tightening plans, but Powell and other officials have pushed back on the possibility of notching down rate hikes this year.Inflation has shown signs of moderating, but continues to run sharply higher than the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%. Data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Friday showed consumer prices fell slightly last month, with headline PCE falling 0.1% between June and July, driven primarily by a 4.8% decline in energy prices. On a year-over-year basis, headline PCE rose 6.3% in July.David Malpass, president of the World Bank Group, looks on next to a stuffed grizzly bear at Teton National Park, where financial leaders from around the world gathered for the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, outside Jackson, Wyoming, U.S., August 26, 2022. REUTERS/Jim UrquhartAnd core PCE, the Fed's preferred measure of inflation, rose 0.1% month-on-month in July and 4.6% from the prior year, marking the lowest annual increase since October 2021.Still, Powell indicated another “unusually large” rate hike was possible in September after the central bank raised rates by 75 basis points inJuneandJuly.\"Restoring price stability will likely require maintaining a restrictive policy stance for some time,\" Powell said. \"The historical record cautions strongly against prematurely loosening policy.”Elsewhere in labor market data,ADP will resume its private payrolls reportwith new a methodology on Wednesday after a temporary pause in June and July. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the release to show 300,000 private payrolls were added in August.ADP's monthly private jobs report comes two days before the Labor Department releases its official jobs report. While the company’s print is an imperfect precursor to the government’s release, it offers a snapshot of job growth during the period.The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), Challenger Job Cuts, and initial weekly jobless claims are also on the docket of employment data set for release this week.On the earnings front, the reporting season has largely wound down, but a few potentially market-moving results are still on tap. Traders will get figures from headliners including Best Buy (BBY), HP (HPQ), Big Lots (BIG), Chewy (CHWY), Lululemon Athletica (LULU), and Broadcom (AVGO).—Economic CalendarMonday:Dallas Fed Half expect the entire band will be moved higher -- known as re-centering -- which is a more sudden and sharp effort to boost the currency.Lastly, three predict policy makers will widen the band within which it guides the currency, allowing the local dollar greater scope to swing from the baseline policy goal. Only two of 16 respondents expect the MAS to use all three tools.Central banks around the world led by the Fed are raising interest rates to combat inflation amid risks from Ukraine war and worsening supply-chain disruptions. Singapore, which began tightening policy late last year and followed through with a rare out-of-turn move in January, is experiencing price growth well above the 2.5%-3.5% range forecast this year, even as the economy’s recovery from Covid-19 is on track.“Tightening resource pressures in the economy and upside inflation risks mean the MAS has to be more forceful in normalizing monetary policy,” said Khoon Goh, Singapore-based head of Asia research for Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd., who sees the authority tightening “aggressively” by re-centering and steepening the slope Thursday.Here’s what else to watch for in the MAS statement:Inflation OutlookClosely watched will be any tweaks to MAS’s forecast for price growth this year. Besides the 2.5%-3.5% overall inflation projection in January, the authority then saw core inflation averaging 2%-3% in 2022.Singapore’s economy is in better shape than some emerging markets in Asia whose growth recoveries are more fragile, complicating policy makers’ timeline for combating soaring inflation through rate hikes. So far in 2022, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines have each held their benchmark rates while acknowledging rising prices.India has signaled a hawkish turn in response to soaring prices, and China’s higher-than-expected inflation prints could prompt policy action soon.Exiting PandemicFirst-quarter advance estimates of Singapore’s gross domestic product growth, also due Thursday morning from the Ministry of Trade & Industry, will help illustrate the city-state’s health as fresh domestic and border re-opening measures took effect.The MAS most recently projected the economy would expand 3%-5% this year after it grew 7.6% last year.Even as Singapore begins to shake off Covid-era restrictions, officials have warned that the healing could be gradual, including in tourism-related sectors that face labor shortages as foreign workers trickle back. The Covid-induced dearth of overseas workers shouldeaseover the next few months, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong said at the start of March.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"STI.SI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":436,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
