The issue isn&#39;t new for Mr. Musk, who has complained for years about Twitter&#39;s ability to measure and manage automated accounts on the platform that often produce spam.</p><p>Whatever his intention in raising the issue, it is clear that Mr. Musk has had unusually extensive interactions with bots. As a habitual tweeter with more than 95 million followers, the Tesla Inc. CEO likely has far greater exposure and experience with fake and spam accounts than most on the social-media platform, researchers say. One estimate says spam, fake or inactive accounts make up the vast majority of his followers.</p><p>Mr. Musk is &#34;an outlier among outliers,&#34; said Darius Kazemi, a computer programmer who has spent a decade creating and studying bots and is currently a senior software engineer at Meedan, a technology nonprofit that aims to combat misinformation. &#34;His experience is going to be different from not just the average user, but the average celebrity.&#34;</p><p>Mr. Musk didn&#39;t respond to requests for comment. Twitter declined to comment for this article but has defended its fight against spam accounts.</p><p>Researchers say Mr. Musk&#39;s prominence and interaction with other users, as well as the topics he tweets about, make him a magnet for people looking to spread spam and other suspicious content. He has tweeted nearly every day for the past four years, and most of his tweets are mentions of or replies to other users, which encourages attention-seekers -- human and bot alike -- to reply to him.</p><p>Others with huge follower counts -- such as former President Barack Obama, singer Justin Bieber and soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo -- don&#39;t tweet as often or engage as much.</p><p>Spam and fake accounts are an industrywide problem and can cause problems for advertisers and bad experiences for users. The accounts can be difficult to detect and are commonly managed by bots, which are computer programs that can automate posts and replies. Many bots have been programmed to achieve illicit goals, such as spreading false information and tricking people into spending money, tech and social-media analysts say, but others have more benign purposes, such as sharing news and weather alerts.</p><p>Mr. Musk&#39;s sudden escalation of the bot issue last month raised suspicions among observers that he is using it as a negotiating tactic to lower the price amid the swooning market, or exit the takeover deal. That&#39;s partly because he has complained about fake accounts on Twitter for years -- long before he agreed to buy the platform in late April, as part of which he waived detailed due diligence on the deal. In 2018, he tweeted, &#34;Lots of fake accounts on Twitter characterized by high following/follower ratio to make it seem like many real people when it isn&#39;t. Wonder why.&#34;</p><p>Mr. Musk&#39;s feed is flooded with tweets hawking products, requesting money and pushing political agendas from what may be bots, coordinated groups or individuals. Replies to a recent tweet from Mr. Musk about computer programming, for example, touted new digital currencies for pet owners and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Some bots are transparent, including <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> whose bio says it is automated to explain tweets in simpler words.</p><p>Outside estimates of the share of bogus accounts on Twitter vary -- and all suffer from a lack of access to the company&#39;s data. But whatever the overall percentage, industry experts say it&#39;s most likely far higher for Mr. Musk.</p><p>Around 70% of Mr. Musk&#39;s followers on Twitter are spam, fake or inactive, versus 41% for all other accounts with between 65 million and 120 million followers, according to an estimate last month from SparkToro LLC, a maker of audience-research software. This not only paled before the S&amp;P’s gain of 46%, but the IBB’s gain of 30%.</p><p>Like other big drug makers, Pfizer spun-off its generics division. These were combined, along with the former Mylan, into Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS). Since the spin-off last year, Viatris stock is down 30%. Pfizer is up 35%.</p><p>The Pfizer pipeline now has 89 listings, with 10 drugs going through registration, the last step before sale. Many inhibit the actions of proteins called kinases. They include new uses for Xeljanz, a kinase inhibitor. The patents for such begin expiring in 2026. They also include Ibrance, a CDK 4/6 inhibitor used to treat breast cancer. Its patent runs to 2027.</p><p>Most of Pfizer’s revenue still came from Comirnaty, however. With the pandemic becoming an endemic, Pfizer is under pressure from activists to share the technology. Sales for its Covid-19 anti-viral treatment, called Paxlovid, are already slumping.</p><h2>Spending the Windfall</h2><p>At the end of 2021, Pfizer had piled up $31 billion in cash and short-term investments. This is thanks to almost $37 billion in revenue from Comirnaty. At the end of 2019, before the pandemic hit, the company had less than $10 billion in cash.</p><p>Like Gilead (NASDAQ:GILD), whose valuation fell after its hepatitis-C cures proved effective, Pfizer is now under pressure to reinvest its Covid-19 windfall. This means the key man at Pfizer today isn’t Bourla, but David Denton, the incoming chief financial officer. Denton is best-known for acquiring Aetna for CVS Health (NYSE:CVS) and new deals are expected to be made by him.</p><p>Pfizer’s first post-Covid deal was to buy Arena Pharmaceuticals for $6.7 billion. Its Etrasimod, an anti-inflammatory drug for ulcerative colitis and atopic dermatitis, has performed well in Phase 3 trials. But Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) also has a drug in this area, Zeposia.</p><p>Currently, the market battle is over which patients might get the best relief from each drug. But regulators, especially in Europe, are eventually going to look at price. Cost-effectiveness is a war no drug company seems ready to wage yet.</p><h2>The Bottom Line on PFE Stock</h2><p>Pfizer is a conservative investment, a true dividend aristocrat. It has paid a dividend continuously since 1980. Pfizer spent $8.7 billion on dividends in 2021, but still had $38.7 billion in debt at the end of the year. This makes Pfizer a speculative stock until investors see where Denton is going to put its Covid-19 money.</p><p>The whole industry is pushing against the health care system’s ability to pay. You can’t have an unlimited draw from a limited pool of funds. The current system means wealthy people can live 10 to 15 years longer than people with less money.</p><p>Covid-19 hasn’t changed this. The costs of Pfizer’s vaccine has created pushback, even against drugs that treat common conditions. Buying shares of high-performing companies can, over time, produce life-changing gains. <b>The</b> <b>Trade</b> <b>Desk</b>, <b>Paycom Software</b>, and <b>Align</b> <b>Technology</b> are three that I believe have that potential.</p><p>Let&#39;s look at their earnings, growth rates, and valuations to see how they could transform a $100,000 portfolio into a seven-figure retirement nest egg over the next decade.</p><h2>1. The Trade Desk</h2><p>There is an old saying in the advertising business that half of ad spending is wasted, but nobody knows which half. The Trade Desk is eliminating that waste with its data-driven self-service platform. Its customers manage their ad spending on more than 500 billion digital opportunities per day. The goal is to help customers make the most intelligent ad-buying decisions and provide them with an abundance of performance feedback. In today&#39;s digital economy, it&#39;s invaluable.</p><p>And business is growing like a weed. Earnings per share (EPS) are expected to climb more than 23% next year. That&#39;s a reasonable rate to use in our calculation. The company has grown revenue 375% over the past five years. Also, gross spend on Trade Desk&#39;s platform climbed 47% last year to $6.2 billion. And management pegs the global ad-spend opportunity at $750 billion, with about $50 billion in display advertising. That offers plenty of room to grow for years.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3105e52ee3274f0a262bd444d428b18f\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"433\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/></p><p>TTD revenue (TTM). Data by YCharts. TTM = trailing 12 months.</p><p>Wall Street sees the potential. The Trade Desk&#39;s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio has varied between 40 and 120 over the past few years. We&#39;ll use 50 for our calculations.</p><p>Doing the math on an initial investment of $33,333.33 (a third of the $100,000) leads to a stake in The Trade Desk worth almost $190,000 in 2032. That relies on bold assumptions. But they are well within what the company has delivered so far.</p><h2>2. Paycom</h2><p>Paycom offers businesses a platform to manage employee payroll, time and attendance, and benefits administration, among other things. Its product was built for the cloud. That&#39;s different from many traditional human capital management (HCM) vendors that have pieced together acquired software over the years.</p><p>Customers can clearly tell the difference. Paycom topped $1 billion in revenue last year for the first time, a 26% increase over 2020. Most importantly, that revenue is recurring and sticky. Revenue retention was 94% in 2021. Customers stick around once they start using the platform.</p><p>Before the pandemic, Paycom&#39;s top line was expanding between 30% and 45% each year. We&#39;ll use last year&#39;s 26% for our calculation and apply a multiple of 60 times earnings. That seems high. That relies on bold assumptions. But they are well within what the company has delivered so far.2. PaycomPaycom offers businesses a platform to manage employee payroll, time and attendance, and benefits administration, among other things. Its product was built for the cloud. That's different from many traditional human capital management (HCM) vendors that have pieced together acquired software over the years.Customers can clearly tell the difference. Paycom topped $1 billion in revenue last year for the first time, a 26% increase over 2020. Most importantly, that revenue is recurring and sticky. Revenue retention was 94% in 2021. Customers stick around once they start using the platform.Before the pandemic, Paycom's top line was expanding between 30% and 45% each year. We'll use last year's 26% for our calculation and apply a multiple of 60 times earnings. That seems high. These more effective and/or more convenient options could convince a fair share of the population to go for a vaccine every year. For instance, about half of the U.S. population went for a flu shot last year. We may see that same population opt for regular coronavirus vaccination, too.</p><p>But here&#39;s what makes Moderna a great long-term choice. The company&#39;s coronavirus vaccine showed that Moderna&#39;s mRNA technology works in humans. But this company isn&#39;t only about its coronavirus program. Moderna has 31 active programs in development, and 19 are in clinical trials.</p><p>These programs span a variety of disease areas. Moderna even has two non-coronavirus programs in phase 3 studies -- vaccine candidates for cytomegalovirus and respiratory syncytial virus. So if all goes well, Moderna won&#39;t have to uniquely depend on its coronavirus program for long.</p><p>Moderna shares surged 1,200% over the past two years, but this year, they&#39;re down 32%. And that means they&#39;re trading at about 6.2 times forward earnings. This looks like a good entry point for a stock with a blockbuster product and a solid pipeline.</p><h2>2. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TDOC\">Teladoc Health</a></h2><p>The pandemic offered <b>Teladoc Health</b>&#39;s ( TDOC ) business a boost. People flocked to its online medical visits, versus traditional in-office visits. But here are two points that make me confident about Teladoc beyond the pandemic.</p><p>First, Teladoc already was growing revenue and medical visits prior to the health crisis. In fact, in 2019, they rose 32% and 57%, respectively. And second, Teladoc&#39;s revenue and visits continue to gain, even in today&#39;s stages of the pandemic -- when people have returned to their regular routines.</p><p>The general outlook for telemedicine is positive. At a compound annual growth rate of more than 25%, the global market is expected to reach about $396 billion by 2027, according to Fortune Business Insights. This supports Teladoc&#39;s optimism for its own business.</p><p>Last year, Teladoc generated $2 billion in revenue. The company aims to generate more than $4 billion by the 2024 fiscal year. Teladoc plans on doing this by increasing members and revenue per member. So far, it&#39;s demonstrated that it can increase both.</p><p>So what&#39;s been bringing down shares of this growth stock? Investors have worried about competition. They&#39;ve also worried about the fact that Teladoc isn&#39;t yet profitable. But Teladoc has offered us clues that should lift some of those concerns.</p><p>The company has managed to stay ahead of rivals. In the recent quarter, the net loss narrowed from that of the previous year. It&#39;s important to keep in mind that Teladoc&#39;s investment in growth -- such as its acquisitions -- has weighed on earnings.</p><p>Now let&#39;s turn to the shares, which are down 17% so far this year. Also, Research and Markets forecasts that the global digital advertising market will grow to $764 billion by 2025 and to $1.45 trillion by 2030 for a CAGR of 13.7%. This led to adjusted earnings of $898 million in the same period, 111% higher than year-ago levels. Analysts only expect 7% revenue growth in 2022 before it rebounds to 22% the next year.</p><p>Still, the stock has lost more than half of its value since its peak last summer. With a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of about 4, it has fallen from the double-digit sales multiples of early last year. This makes it more reasonably priced as Block seeks to meet the financial needs of more businesses and individuals.</p><p>2. DigitalOcean</p><p>At first glance, companies such as <b>Amazon</b> and <b>Microsoft</b> dominate the cloud industry and cater their services to lots of big names. However, their product offerings are not really catered to the specific needs of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). DigitalOcean has built a high-growth enterprise by filling that gap. But while it offers simple, affordable pricing plans tailored to the needs of SMEs, its most vital advantage seems to lie in its community. Members of this community give and receive advice, helping these businesses resolve IT challenges that might otherwise hamper smaller enterprises.</p><p>Also, DigitalOcean already claims about 600,000 customers in 185 countries. and the cloud market should also leave plenty of room for company growth. Grand View Research estimates the cloud infrastructure market will grow to $1.55 trillion by 2030, up from $484 billion today.</p><p>DigitalOcean&#39;s 2021 revenue of $429 million makes up only a tiny fraction of that addressable market, though that was a 35% increase compared with 2020. Moreover, it cut its yearly loss to about $20 million, down from $44 million in 2020. Furthermore, revenue estimates for between $564 million and $568 million amount to 32% growth if the estimate holds, pointing to little if any slowdowns.</p><p>Additionally, the stock has dropped 55% from its November high, taking its P/S ratio down to around 13. While this is higher than its larger competitors, a lower stock price and rapid revenue growth rate should take this stock much higher as the need for the cloud within SMEs continues to expand.</p><p>3. Roku</p><p>Roku has managed to capitalize on the transition of televised media to streaming. Through its aggregation of services and the offering of its Roku platform and channel, it provides an avenue by which companies can fund programming through advertising.</p><p>Furthermore, Roku continues its expansion into Europe and Latin America, giving it leverage as companies like <b>Alphabet</b> attempt to compete. Additionally, the company has integrated its operating system into new televisions and offered its equipment at a low cost, easing the adoption of its platform.</p><p>Roku claimed about 60 million users as of the end of 2021. Also, Research and Markets forecasts that the global digital advertising market will grow to $764 billion by 2025 and to $1.45 trillion by 2030 for a CAGR of 13.7%. Roku appears well-positioned to capture much of this increase as it currently only operates in roughly 20 countries and has plans for further expansion.</p><p>So far, Roku has barely begun to scratch the surface of its potential. In 2021, it generated almost $2.8 billion in revenue, 55% more than in 2020. The revenue growth helped the company earn $242 million in net income, an improvement from the $18 million loss in 2020.</p><p>Admittedly, the first-quarter outlook for 25% year-over-year revenue growth represents a slowdown. Still, the stock has fallen by about 75% from its high last July. Also, the P/S ratio now stands at six, down from 33 last February. The network was restarted today after a nine-hour break, and several crypto exchanges have now delisted LUNA.</p><p>LUNA and the TerraUSD (UST) stablecoin weren&#39;t able to survive this week&#39;s extreme market turbulence. LUNA&#39;s price has plummeted from almost $90 a month ago to a fraction of a dollar in what&#39;s being called a &#34;death spiral.&#34;</p><h2>What&#39;s next for Terra?</h2><p>After two days of silence, Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs, today (Friday) outlined new plans to restart the Terra ecosystem. His new proposal echoed plans put forward yesterday by a group of developers called the Terra Builders Alliance.</p><p>In a post, Kwon admits the UST stablecoin has failed and can&#39;t be rebuilt. However, he thinks the ecosystem and community are what&#39;s worth preserving. He argued, &#34;Although in distress, [we have] strong brand recognition and a name that almost everyone in the world will have heard about.&#34;</p><p>Kwon suggests resetting the network and distributing 1 billion LUNA tokens amongst LUNA holders, UST holders, and other parties. The new network would be entirely community run, taking Terraform Labs and Kwon out of the equation.</p><h2>What it means for investors</h2><p>There&#39;s a small chance investors might be able to recover some of their losses as a result of moves to revive the Terra network. But don&#39;t expect miracles. The Luna Foundation Guard -- a non-profit designed to support UST -- already emptied its reserves as it tried to prop up the failing token. <b>The brand may be widely recognized, but trust in the network has plunged as quickly as LUNA&#39;s price.</b></p><p>It is heartbreaking to see stories of people who&#39;ve lost their life savings because of Terra&#39;s collapse. The Terra Reddit forum contains helplines around the world for people to call, as well as stories from people who&#39;ve lost significant amounts of money.</p><p>Going forward, here are two lessons all crypto investors can take away from Terra&#39;s failed stablecoin experiment.</p><h3>1. Only invest money you can afford to lose</h3><p>Cryptocurrency investment is high risk and there are no guarantees. Many people see the headlines about eye-watering profits and invest because they think they might get rich. Some cryptos have generated incredible profits, but many have failed completely as well. This is a brutal market, some of the technology is experimental, and even a top 20 crypto can collapse in a matter of days.</p><p>Never borrow money to buy crypto. Moreover, if the collapse of any individual crypto -- or the whole market -- might devastate your finances, then don&#39;t invest. Prioritize your emergency fund, retirement savings, debt payments, and other financial goals that contribute to long-term wealth over any crypto investments.</p><h3>2. Stablecoins are not as stable as they sound</h3><p>Stablecoins are a key part of the decentralized finance system, often offering high rates of interest to people who deposit on different platforms. Sadly, some people were tempted by the almost 20% APY offered on UST and moved their savings out of bank accounts and into the Terra network.</p><p>The trouble is that money in a bank account is protected by FDIC insurance against collapse. Money on DeFi platforms is not. Plus, U.S. dollars in a bank account may devalue slowly because of inflation but they won&#39;t collapse overnight.</p><p>There are a number of stablecoins out there that maintain their values in different ways. UST was an algorithmic stablecoin backed by the LUNA token, but -- in spite of assurances to the contrary -- it couldn&#39;t hold its peg in the face of extreme volatility.</p><p>If you&#39;re considering using stablecoins and DeFi platforms, research how that particular token supports itself. For example, USD Coin (USDC) is a fiat-backed stablecoin, and should have $1 in reserve for every token it issues. However, even fiat-backed tokens could fall. Never assume a stablecoin is as stable as the currency itself.</p><h2>Bottom line</h2><p>At time of writing, Terra&#39;s blockchain is up and running again and the community are mulling over ways to resuscitate the network. But there&#39;s only so much that can be done to restore people&#39;s losses. The network was restarted today after a nine-hour break, and several crypto exchanges have now delisted LUNA.LUNA and the TerraUSD (UST) stablecoin weren't able to survive this week's extreme market turbulence. LUNA's price has plummeted from almost $90 a month ago to a fraction of a dollar in what's being called a \"death spiral.\"What's next for Terra?After two days of silence, Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs, today (Friday) outlined new plans to restart the Terra ecosystem. His new proposal echoed plans put forward yesterday by a group of developers called the Terra Builders Alliance.In a post, Kwon admits the UST stablecoin has failed and can't be rebuilt. However, he thinks the ecosystem and community are what's worth preserving. He argued, \"Although in distress, [we have] strong brand recognition and a name that almost everyone in the world will have heard about.\"Kwon suggests resetting the network and distributing 1 billion LUNA tokens amongst LUNA holders, UST holders, and other parties. The new network would be entirely community run, taking Terraform Labs and Kwon out of the equation.What it means for investorsThere's a small chance investors might be able to recover some of their losses as a result of moves to revive the Terra network. But don't expect miracles. The Luna Foundation Guard -- a non-profit designed to support UST -- already emptied its reserves as it tried to prop up the failing token. The brand may be widely recognized, but trust in the network has plunged as quickly as LUNA's price.It is heartbreaking to see stories of people who've lost their life savings because of Terra's collapse. The Terra Reddit forum contains helplines around the world for people to call, as well as stories from people who've lost significant amounts of money.Going forward, here are two lessons all crypto investors can take away from Terra's failed stablecoin experiment.1. Only invest money you can afford to loseCryptocurrency investment is high risk and there are no guarantees. Many people see the headlines about eye-watering profits and invest because they think they might get rich. Some cryptos have generated incredible profits, but many have failed completely as well. This is a brutal market, some of the technology is experimental, and even a top 20 crypto can collapse in a matter of days.Never borrow money to buy crypto. Moreover, if the collapse of any individual crypto -- or the whole market -- might devastate your finances, then don't invest. Prioritize your emergency fund, retirement savings, debt payments, and other financial goals that contribute to long-term wealth over any crypto investments.2. Stablecoins are not as stable as they soundStablecoins are a key part of the decentralized finance system, often offering high rates of interest to people who deposit on different platforms. Sadly, some people were tempted by the almost 20% APY offered on UST and moved their savings out of bank accounts and into the Terra network.The trouble is that money in a bank account is protected by FDIC insurance against collapse. Money on DeFi platforms is not. Plus, U.S. dollars in a bank account may devalue slowly because of inflation but they won't collapse overnight.There are a number of stablecoins out there that maintain their values in different ways. UST was an algorithmic stablecoin backed by the LUNA token, but -- in spite of assurances to the contrary -- it couldn't hold its peg in the face of extreme volatility.If you're considering using stablecoins and DeFi platforms, research how that particular token supports itself. For example, USD Coin (USDC) is a fiat-backed stablecoin, and should have $1 in reserve for every token it issues. However, even fiat-backed tokens could fall. Never assume a stablecoin is as stable as the currency itself.Bottom lineAt time of writing, Terra's blockchain is up and running again and the community are mulling over ways to resuscitate the network. But there's only so much that can be done to restore people's losses.
