Financial Review","summary":"Wall cladding and plasterboard group James Hardie has hired the boss of a big aerosols manufacturer ","content":"

Wall cladding and plasterboard group James Hardie has hired the boss of a big aerosols manufacturer in the United States to fill the role of chief executive which has been vacant for eight months after Jack Truong was dumped over bullying allegations.

The company announced on Friday that Aaron Erter will be starting immediately as chief executive. Mr Erter, who is aged 49, for the past two years has been the chief executive of PLZ Corp, a manufacturer of aerosols and specialty liquids and before that was a senior executive with paint maker Sherwin Williams. The Australian paint business Wattyl is part of the Sherwin Williams stable and has given Mr Erter a solid grounding in the Australian housing and construction sector.

Mr Erter comes in at a tough time in the economic cycle, with James Hardie putting through substantial price rises for its products to try to claw back sharp increases in freight, energy and pulp costs and starting a hiring freeze for non-critical positions amid uncertainty as central banks raise interest rates to fight inflation.

Mr Erter said he had the runs on the board at other organisations and the right set of skills. “I have been fortunate to work for some world-class organisations in my career, and I am confident that my experience and expertise align with what James Hardie needs in a leader,” he said.

Mr Erter studied economics at the prestigious Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and then went on to do an MBA at The University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business.

James Hardie’s incoming chairwoman Anne Lloyd with new chief executive Aaron Erter

James Hardie is undergoing a process of renewal at the top, with Anne Lloyd to take over as chairwoman in November. She is currently deputy chairwoman.

Ms Lloyd said on Friday there would be no U-turn in strategy and the group had been through an extensive recruitment exercise where there had been a strong field of quality candidates.

“We have demonstrated that we’ve got the right strategy. We did not want a CEO who felt compelled to come in and make their mark by turning the strategy on its head,” .she said.

There had been a large emphasis in the recruitment process on finding someone with the right emotional intelligence.

“It was clear that we needed a leader that had a strong EQ, someone who could identify and develop talent, and who could couple empowerment with accountability,” .she said.

“Hardies is a tough place to work, everybody demands a lot of one another. I love that. But it’s how you do the demanding that has changed, she said.

Chairman Mike Hammes said Mr Erter was an “exceptional leader”.

Mr Truong was considered a star at James Hardie and turned it into one of the top performing building products companies. But investors were stunned when he was dumped in early January this year. The board forced Mr Truong out, following an investigation into claims of bullying. He rejects those claims.

James Hardie in mid-August cut its full-year profit forecasts for the 12 months ending March 31 to between $US730 million ($1.04 billion) to $US780 million, from a previous $US740 million-$US820 million band. It cited inflationary pressures, softness in Europe and growing uncertainty in housing markets.

Ms Lloyd’s appointment as future chairwoman was announced on August 11, along with the hiring of an Australian-based director, PJ Davis, a former chief operating officer of Bunnings. Mr Davis retired from Bunnings in 2018 after a 25-year career. His last position was managing director of Bunnings in the UK and Ireland, where parent Wesfarmers blew up $1 billion-plus on an ill-fated expansion into the British market. It tried to replicate the success of the dominant Australian hardware business but failed. The Australian paint business Wattyl is part of the Sherwin Williams stable and has given Mr Erter a solid grounding in the Australian housing and construction sector.Mr Erter comes in at a tough time in the economic cycle, with James Hardie putting through substantial price rises for its products to try to claw back sharp increases in freight, energy and pulp costs and starting a hiring freeze for non-critical positions amid uncertainty as central banks raise interest rates to fight inflation.Mr Erter said he had the runs on the board at other organisations and the right set of skills. “I have been fortunate to work for some world-class organisations in my career, and I am confident that my experience and expertise align with what James Hardie needs in a leader,” he said.Mr Erter studied economics at the prestigious Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and then went on to do an MBA at The University of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business.James Hardie’s incoming chairwoman Anne Lloyd with new chief executive Aaron Erter James Hardie is undergoing a process of renewal at the top, with Anne Lloyd to take over as chairwoman in November. She is currently deputy chairwoman.Ms Lloyd said on Friday there would be no U-turn in strategy and the group had been through an extensive recruitment exercise where there had been a strong field of quality candidates.“We have demonstrated that we’ve got the right strategy. We did not want a CEO who felt compelled to come in and make their mark by turning the strategy on its head,” .she said. There had been a large emphasis in the recruitment process on finding someone with the right emotional intelligence.“It was clear that we needed a leader that had a strong EQ, someone who could identify and develop talent, and who could couple empowerment with accountability,” .she said.“Hardies is a tough place to work, everybody demands a lot of one another. I love that. But it’s how you do the demanding that has changed, she said.Chairman Mike Hammes said Mr Erter was an “exceptional leader”.Mr Truong was considered a star at James Hardie and turned it into one of the top performing building products companies. But investors were stunned when he was dumped in early January this year. The board forced Mr Truong out, following an investigation into claims of bullying. He rejects those claims.James Hardie in mid-August cut its full-year profit forecasts for the 12 months ending March 31 to between $US730 million ($1.04 billion) to $US780 million, from a previous $US740 million-$US820 million band. It cited inflationary pressures, softness in Europe and growing uncertainty in housing markets.Ms Lloyd’s appointment as future chairwoman was announced on August 11, along with the hiring of an Australian-based director, PJ Davis, a former chief operating officer of Bunnings. Mr Davis had been the highly regarded chief operating officer of Bunnings in Australia for 15 years before he was entrusted with a key role in the UK expansion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":291,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9939641771,"gmtCreate":1662104839594,"gmtModify":1676536998739,"author":{"id":"4112773704796072","authorId":"4112773704796072","name":"szeying00","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/20f6bf1ba776348ef7a03d9aa37af67e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4112773704796072","authorIdStr":"4112773704796072"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thank you for sharing!","listText":"Thank you for sharing!","text":"Thank you for sharing!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9939641771","repostId":"2264529705","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2264529705","pubTimestamp":1662081953,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2264529705?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-09-02 09:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Cheap Stocks With High Price Targets","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2264529705","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Finding cheap stocks with high price targets can be a challenge, but these three fit the bill.Matter","content":"

Finding cheap stocks with high price targets can be a challenge, but these three fit the bill.

Matterport (MTTR): The company has a diversified business model providing access to smooth, recurrent cashflows.

Rigetti Computing (RGTI): RGTI is a quantum computing company focusing on developing applications for its technology across several fields.

SoFi Technologies (SOFI): Despite strong headwinds, SoFi continues to deliver stronger-than-expected results.

Source: shutterstock.com/CC7

Cheap stocks with high price targets always are tempting but require due diligence.

As any investor knows, stock prices are constantly fluctuating.
