CEO Tim Cook and his team are not expected to deliver revenue growth inflection (-1.4% YoY) for the upcoming report card. However, since the market is forward-looking, I believe investors are likely pricing in a much more robust FQ4 report card as Apple prepares to launch its iPhone 15 and 3nm process MacBook Pro in its most crucial calendar quarter.

Therefore, the recent report by The Information could disappoint some Apple investors, as it reported that "Apple is encountering difficulties in assembling its upcoming iPhone models, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max." Given the significance of its more premium models to help mitigate the expected shipment decline for FY23, this doesn't augur well for Apple's holiday season sales.

While it's still too early to assess the fallout from its potential delay, AAPL's "priced-for-perfection" valuation suggests there isn't much wriggle room for disappointment in its critical seasonal quarter. As such, Apple holders need to prepare for the possibility of "fewer units being available initially, particularly for the iPhone 15 Pro Max."

Supply chain sources suggest that Apple's revenue performance would likely hinge on the success of its higher-end iPhone 15 launches. DIGITMES updated that Apple could ship about 84M iPhone units at the midpoint for 2023, "lower than the nearly 100M units shipped for the iPhone 14 last year." However, based on Trefis' FY23 iPhone revenue forecast of $203B (down 1% YoY), Apple cannot afford significant shipment delays on its new premium launches. Therefore, I encourage Apple investors to pay particular attention to how Cupertino company would resolve its production challenges, as it could impact investor sentiments, given the remarkable surge that AAPL has enjoyed this year.

Interestingly, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman broke the news last Sunday that Apple could introduce on-device generative AI on its products. It's a significant development considering Apple has been tight-lipped about its generative AI strategy.

It also comes hot on the heels of the recent announcement between Qualcomm (QCOM) and Meta Platforms (META), partnering to release generative AI on Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs with Meta's open-source Llama 2 LLM.

Bloomberg indicated that Apple has stepped up its momentum in getting its generative AI work ready based on its internally-built Ajax framework. The company was also reported to have created an internal chatbot called AppleGPT. However, Apple has "yet to finalize" its generative AI strategy for its consumer ecosystem, in line with the more cautious cadence that Cook likely prefers.

However, Apple was also reported to be ready for a "significant AI-related announcement" in 2024, indicating that it possibly sees the partnership between Qualcomm and Meta as a credible threat. Qualcomm has smartly leveraged its close partnership with Meta to gain the advantage of deploying generative AI on the edge. Given Meta's past IDFA-linked "hostilities" with Apple, I don't expect Cook and Zuckerberg to be working closely together on deploying Meta's LLMs. Hence, the battle between Apple's LLMs and Meta's open-source models will be critical for investors to assess.

Stratechery's Ben Thompson opined that he concurs with Meta's belief that "an open approach is the right one for the development of today’s AI models, especially those in the generative space where the technology is rapidly advancing."

As such, he noted that while Llama 2 is "not as good as GPT-4" currently, the model "can be run anywhere, can be fully optimized, and is free." Therefore, Qualcomm's decision to take the open-source route is significant. While still too early for us to assess whether Meta's approach could outcompete Apple's likely propriety/walled garden strategy, Microsoft (MSFT) is taking no chances. As seen in its recent announcement to partner with Meta on its LLM models, the Satya Nadella-led company will benefit from the competition between OpenAI and Meta.

Apple investors saw a momentary surge this week as they latched onto AAPL's AI news. However, the momentum has since stalled and could reverse if the bearish reversal condition holds through the rest of July.

AAPL/SPY price chart (monthly) (TradingView)

As seen in the AAPL/SPY long-term chart above, AAPL's momentum has stalled against the S&P 500 (SPX, SPY), suggesting buyers have rotated out in July even as it broke above its previous highs in June.

A decisive close below its September 2022 highs could encourage more dip buyers who benefited from this year's surge to cut more exposure, intensifying selling pressure.

I see AAPL's valuation as unsustainable at the current levels. At a forward EBITDA multiple of 23.7x (two standard deviation zone over its 10Y average), AAPL has struggled for momentum, suggesting buyers aren't keen to take it much higher from here.

As such, investors sitting on significant gains should consider cutting their positions, leveraging on the recent sector rotation, before a further selloff follows.

Rating: Maintain Sell.

Important note: Investors are reminded to do their own due diligence and not rely on the information provided as financial advice. The rating is also not intended to time a specific entry/exit at the point of writing unless otherwise specified.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":200148796322040,"gmtCreate":1689898841315,"gmtModify":1689898844440,"author":{"id":"4151208892102862","authorId":"4151208892102862","name":"Menova","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/81e23a8f06c201aeef7f69473aaff673","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4151208892102862","idStr":"4151208892102862"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Maxthon","listText":"Maxthon","text":"Maxthon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/200148796322040","repostId":"1172202207","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1172202207","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1689898521,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1172202207?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-07-21 08:15","language":"en","title":"Tech Stocks Drag ASX Lower at the Open","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1172202207","media":"The Australian Financial Review","summary":"The S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.3 per cent, or 25 points, to 7300 in the opening minutes of trade on Friday, weighed by losses across the technology sector.Coronado Global Resources added 2.2 per cent to $1.64 after maintaining its FY23 guidance, and reporting production growth in the June quarter.Atlas Arteria eased 0.8 per cent to $6.22 after reporting revenue growth in the June quarter on the back of stronger traffic and higher tolls.Gold miners declined as a stronger US dollar weighed on the price of","content":"

The S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.3 per cent, or 25 points, to 7300 in the opening minutes of trade on Friday, weighed by losses across the technology sector.

Coronado Global Resources added 2.2 per cent to $1.64 after maintaining its FY23 guidance, and reporting production growth in the June quarter.

Atlas Arteria eased 0.8 per cent to $6.22 after reporting revenue growth in the June quarter on the back of stronger traffic and higher tolls.

Gold miners declined as a stronger US dollar weighed on the price of the precious metal; I competed in 400M/800M events, so I'm familiar with the "last 100m" concept - that's when the lactic acid kicks in and the legs get heavy, but you have to keep moving.

I was coached by Que McMaster who worked with the great Micheal Johnson (four Olympic gold medals) in his early days at Baylor, and he had a scientific approach to the "last 100m" problem. The data showed that you can sprint at max speed for 20-25 seconds without triggering lactic acid, so you start really fast, and then you switch into the "glide mode." The secret was to switch from the "glide mode" to the "finish mode" efficiently, so you can cross the finish line at full speed - without ever triggering lactic acid. The strategy was to get ahead of the competition, and if they never catch up, you win, and if they do catch up, you have enough energy to switch into the higher gear in the last 100m and still win.

The Fed is doing it all wrong

The Fed is essentially in a race against inflation. Drawing lessons from McMaster's race strategy, the Fed is supposed to get ahead of inflation - and if inflation accelerates, shift into a more aggressive tightening mode until the clear victory. In fact, that was exactly the Fed's strategy in the 1970s/early 1980s. Here's the graph that shows core PCE inflation (in blue) and effective Federal Funds rate (in red):

FRED

What do we see? When inflation is rising, the Federal Funds rate (red) always is above the core PCE (blue). But more importantly, near the peaks in inflation, the Fed would accelerate the hikes - well above the PCE inflation. That's how you win the race.

For example, in March 1980, the Fed hiked from 14% to 17%, while core PCE was at a peak of 9.3%.

And now let's look at the current situation. The Fed let inflation get ahead by far in 2022 by wrongly assuming that the inflationary spike was "transitory." The Fed finally caught up with inflation in May 2023 - and then paused? What a mistake. Why? Because it appears that inflation is about to turn higher. It appears that inflation is being coached by McMaster. So, the "last 100m" of this race will be very interesting.

Is inflation turning higher?

The BLS will release the inflation data for June 2023. These are the expectations:

Trading Economics

So, the headline inflation is expected to sharply fall to 3.1%, but the month-over-month inflation is expected to rise to 0.3%. Core CPI is expected to slightly fall to 5%, while the month-over is also expected at 0.3%.

The Cleveland Fed Inflation Nowcast predicts slightly higher numbers for June, with CPI at 3.2%, and core CPI at 5.1%, with a 0.4% month-over-month increase for both. Thus, we could get a higher-than-expected number for June.

Cleveland Fed

Cleveland Fed

But, more importantly, Nowcast predicts higher CPI and core CPI for July at 3.6% and 5.2%, respectively. Even more worrisome is the constant 0.4% month-over-month increase for the core CPI, which is consistent with a steady 5% annual core inflation.

In fact, the annualized quarterly inflation for Q3 is expected to rise to 4.42% from 3% - that's a sharp upturn in inflation.

Cleveland Fed

Why is inflation rising again?

First, inflation is estimated as a 12-month year-over-year increase in prices - so each month you delete the month a year ago from the calculation. Well, last year there was a spike in energy/food prices due to the war in Ukraine, and the peak was in June, so the inflation number for July deletes the June 2022 number - that's the base effect for the headline CPI, and it looks like this (the big bar is out of the picture for July):

Trading Economics

And this is the month-over-month inflation for core CPI:

Trading Economics

The most important data to look at is the fact that over the last six months, the month-over-month core CPI inflation was steady at 0.4%, which is expected to hold for at least the next two months, based on Nowcast. That's consistent with over 5% annual core CPI - while the target is 2%.

So, once the base effects are out, we are facing the "last mile" or the "last 100m," and BIS said this will be a very difficult race. Specifically, BIS is very concerned that there could be a price-wage inflationary spiral in making. When looking at the totality of data, BIS concludes that there's a high risk of a transition to the 1970s-like high-inflationary mode. More info here.

What does the Fed need to do now?

The Fed started the race from behind and has been trying to catch up. In order to win the race, the Fed needs to accelerate the monetary policy tightening, well above what is currently expected. I competed in 400M/800M events, so I'm familiar with the \"last 100m\" concept - that's when the lactic acid kicks in and the legs get heavy, but you have to keep moving.I was coached by Que McMaster who worked with the great Micheal Johnson (four Olympic gold medals) in his early days at Baylor, and he had a scientific approach to the \"last 100m\" problem. The data showed that you can sprint at max speed for 20-25 seconds without triggering lactic acid, so you start really fast, and then you switch into the \"glide mode.\" The secret was to switch from the \"glide mode\" to the \"finish mode\" efficiently, so you can cross the finish line at full speed - without ever triggering lactic acid. The strategy was to get ahead of the competition, and if they never catch up, you win, and if they do catch up, you have enough energy to switch into the higher gear in the last 100m and still win.The Fed is doing it all wrongThe Fed is essentially in a race against inflation. Drawing lessons from McMaster's race strategy, the Fed is supposed to get ahead of inflation - and if inflation accelerates, shift into a more aggressive tightening mode until the clear victory. In fact, that was exactly the Fed's strategy in the 1970s/early 1980s. Here's the graph that shows core PCE inflation (in blue) and effective Federal Funds rate (in red):FREDWhat do we see? When inflation is rising, the Federal Funds rate (red) always is above the core PCE (blue). But more importantly, near the peaks in inflation, the Fed would accelerate the hikes - well above the PCE inflation. That's how you win the race. For example, in March 1980, the Fed hiked from 14% to 17%, while core PCE was at a peak of 9.3%.And now let's look at the current situation. The Fed let inflation get ahead by far in 2022 by wrongly assuming that the inflationary spike was \"transitory.\" The Fed finally caught up with inflation in May 2023 - and then paused? What a mistake. Why? Because it appears that inflation is about to turn higher. It appears that inflation is being coached by McMaster. So, the \"last 100m\" of this race will be very interesting. Is inflation turning higher? The BLS will release the inflation data for June 2023. These are the expectations:Trading EconomicsSo, the headline inflation is expected to sharply fall to 3.1%, but the month-over-month inflation is expected to rise to 0.3%. Core CPI is expected to slightly fall to 5%, while the month-over is also expected at 0.3%.The Cleveland Fed Inflation Nowcast predicts slightly higher numbers for June, with CPI at 3.2%, and core CPI at 5.1%, with a 0.4% month-over-month increase for both. Thus, we could get a higher-than-expected number for June.Cleveland FedCleveland FedBut, more importantly, Nowcast predicts higher CPI and core CPI for July at 3.6% and 5.2%, respectively. Even more worrisome is the constant 0.4% month-over-month increase for the core CPI, which is consistent with a steady 5% annual core inflation. In fact, the annualized quarterly inflation for Q3 is expected to rise to 4.42% from 3% - that's a sharp upturn in inflation.Cleveland FedWhy is inflation rising again?First, inflation is estimated as a 12-month year-over-year increase in prices - so each month you delete the month a year ago from the calculation. Well, last year there was a spike in energy/food prices due to the war in Ukraine, and the peak was in June, so the inflation number for July deletes the June 2022 number - that's the base effect for the headline CPI, and it looks like this (the big bar is out of the picture for July):Trading EconomicsAnd this is the month-over-month inflation for core CPI:Trading EconomicsThe most important data to look at is the fact that over the last six months, the month-over-month core CPI inflation was steady at 0.4%, which is expected to hold for at least the next two months, based on Nowcast. That's consistent with over 5% annual core CPI - while the target is 2%.So, once the base effects are out, we are facing the \"last mile\" or the \"last 100m,\" and BIS said this will be a very difficult race. Specifically, BIS is very concerned that there could be a price-wage inflationary spiral in making. When looking at the totality of data, BIS concludes that there's a high risk of a transition to the 1970s-like high-inflationary mode. More info here. What does the Fed need to do now?The Fed started the race from behind and has been trying to catch up. In order to win the race, the Fed needs to accelerate the monetary policy tightening, well above what is currently expected. Just look at the chart provided above, the red line has to be well above the blue line, there's no other way. In other words, the Fed might need to surprise the market with a 50bpt hike in July. That's the transition to the \"finish mode,\" and that's what worked in the 1970s. The Taylor rule tool also suggests that the Federal Funds rate should currently be somewhere between 6.6-7.2%.The race is over when we see a consistent 0.1%, 0.2% in core PCE for several months. Unfortunately, this might require a very sharp increase in the unemployment rate, possibly above 6%-7%.ImplicationsThis is the Fed's strategy for the \"last mile\" or \"last 100m\" of the inflation race: stay behind and wait for inflation to get \"tired,\" or wait for inflation to get \"the lactic acid\" and just die out. This strategy is unlikely to work, and the Fed will be forced to be more aggressive - to shift into the \"finish mode.\" However, this will likely cause a deep recession. In fact, there are already signs that growth is stalling or contracting based on the real GDI measure, and yet inflation is expected to turn higher after the June reading. The BIS report is particularly worried about the housing sector if the Fed is forced to hike 200bpt above the May rate to above 6%. This suggests that now is the right time to figure out what stocks to sell in July. Despite the widespread confidence that we have entered a “new bull market,” macro issues like high inflation and rising interest rates persist.

Recent economic indicators suggest that the Federal Reserve, far from pausing or pivoting on interest rate hikes, will continue raising rates in its quest to curb inflation. The prospect of a longer-than-expected economic recovery could throw the market in for a loop. In turn, leading to further rounds of sell-offs.

Overall, stocks are vulnerable, but speculative growth plays have the most to lose if this possible outcome plays out. The riskiest of these names, many of which have experienced strong rebounds this year, could give their latest gains and then some.

Given the risk that the so-called “new bull market” is nothing but a bull trap, consider it time to sell stocks, especially these seven risky stocks to sell in July.

Coinbase Global (COIN)

Source: Sergei Elagin / Shutterstock.com

The big rebound in cryptocurrency prices this year has fueled an outsized rebound in price for shares in crypto brokerage platform Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN). Year-to-date (or YTD), the stock is up a staggering 132.4%.

But those who went contrarian on COIN stock earlier this year are sitting on big gains; taking profit ASAP appears to be the best move for two reasons. First, crypto prices could pull back if rising rates/a further slowdown in economic growth throw investors back into a “risk off” mood.

A crypto sell-off would likely drive a sharp sell-off for COIN. Second, as InvestorPlace’s Larry Ramer recently argued, Coinbase remains in the regulatory crosshairs. The end result could have a material impact on the company’s future operating performance. If you decide to sell off risky stocks in July, COIN is one of the first to bail on if you own it.

Carvana (CVNA)

Source: Ken Wolter / Shutterstock.com

Short-squeeze plays aren’t as popular as they once were, but Carvana (NYSE:CVNA) has been one that has worked out very well this year for speculators.

Shares in the online used car retailer are up more than five-fold YTD, largely due to retail traders squeezing the crowded short side (64% of the outstanding float of CVNA stock has been sold short). Yet, while the shorts are sitting on big losses, in the end, they could be vindicated.

Carvana’s management has talked up a strong game for this unprofitable, heavily-leveraged company. The company is guiding for stronger results ahead. Even so, used car prices are expected to keep falling. Sell-side earnings forecasts for CVNA still call for the company to report big losses this year, in 2024, and in 2025. All of this points to CVNA plunging from here, making it one of the top stocks to sell in July.

GameStop (GME)

Source: 1take1shot / Shutterstock.com

GameStop (NYSE:GME) has only experienced a moderate rally since the start of 2023. Shares in the video game retailer are up 32.7% YTD. With this, it may seem that this “meme stock king” has less room to fall compared to risky stocks, up by triple-digits this year.

Still, keep in mind that while GME stock may not be at risk of experiencing a sudden plunge, the risk of it steadily falling toward its underlying value remains. As the company pursues a shortsighted strategy that may just well hasten its demise, expect the fading “meme stock aura” still surrounding GME to keep dimming.

So, what is GameStop’s underlying value? Given there’s little end in sight for GME’s continued unprofitability, the underlying value of shares is likely not much more than the stock’s current book value ($4.18 per share) or more than 81% below GME’s current trading price.

Medical Properties Trust (MPW)

Source: venusvi / Shutterstock.com

Healthcare real estate investment trust (or REIT) Medical Properties Trust (NYSE:MPW) has rallied since May. This move higher is in line with other REITs, which have rallied on rising hopes that the worst is over for rate hikes. Rate hikes place downward pressure on REIT prices.

Yet, while MPW stock has performed well lately, this may prove fleeting. With the Fed clearly not done with raising rates, rate hikes down the road could knock the REIT sector lower. Riskier names like this one could experience even sharper declines.

Not only that, MPW’s fundamentals have not improved in recent months. As a Seeking Alpha commentator argued in June, issues like high leverage and an unsustainable dividend (12.2% forward yield) persist. Concerns about the quality/underlying value of its portfolio haven’t gone away, either. Taking these risks into account, consider MPW one of the stocks to sell in July.

Netflix (NFLX)

Source: izzuanroslan / Shutterstock.com

The “new bull market” has mostly been a bull market for big tech stocks. Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), up by nearly 50% this year, is no exception.

However, I side with the skeptics, who believe that investors have gone overboard with their bullishness on NFLX stock. While recent moves like a crackdown on password sharing, plus the introduction of an ad-supported subscription tier, bode well for future results, said improvements to revenue/profitability, at best, may already be priced in.

NFLX may be able to sustain its current valuation if earnings rise in line with forecasts. However, given the high competition from rival streaming platforms, results could start falling short of expectations. With further gains hinging on a continued turnaround rather than from a secular growth trend like AI (as is the case with other big tech names), Netflix seems to be the FAANG stock most vulnerable to a big drop.

Nio (NIO)

Source: Michael Vi / Shutterstock.com

Nio (NYSE:NIO) shares have performed well recently. Even as the China-based electric vehicle (or EV) maker’s latest monthly deliveries were down 17% on a year-over-year basis, investors remain confident that a re-acceleration in growth will transpire during the second half of 2023.

However, those buying NIO stock today could end up regretting their decision. As I recently argued, it appears far more likely that investors will be disappointed with Nio’s operating performance later this year. Either high competition from rival EV makers will lead to lower-than-expected sales growth, or the price cuts Nio has to implement will severely impact margins.

Irrespective of whether the bull market continues through year’s end if poor results arise, NIO stock will likely cough back recent gains. Shares could also drop to new multi-year lows. This heavy downside risk makes NIO one of the stocks to sell in July.

Opendoor Technologies (OPEN)

Source: Tada Images / Shutterstock.com

Much like how REIT stocks have started to bounce back, so too have other stocks tied to the real estate sector. A good example is Opendoor Technologies (NASDAQ:OPEN). Shares in this iBuyer of houses are up by 250% year-to-date.

Mostly on rising hopes that the worst is over for the housing market, it points to diminished chances of OPEN stock experiencing a “game over” moment. Yet, while the housing market has merely deflated, not crashed, assuming that the situation can’t worsen from here could be costly if you’re holding OPEN shares today.

Talk of a continued “housing shortage” notwithstanding, factors like a possible crash in the short-term rental market (which could lead to a glut of former short-term rentals put up for sale) could put severe pressure on housing prices. This could renew concerns about Opendoor’s future prospects, leading to shares cratering back toward prior price levels.

","source":"investorplace_stock_picks","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; This suggests that now is the right time to figure out what stocks to sell in July. Despite the widespread confidence that we have entered a “new bull market,” macro issues like high inflation and rising interest rates persist.Recent economic indicators suggest that the Federal Reserve, far from pausing or pivoting on interest rate hikes, will continue raising rates in its quest to curb inflation. The prospect of a longer-than-expected economic recovery could throw the market in for a loop. In turn, leading to further rounds of sell-offs.Overall, stocks are vulnerable, but speculative growth plays have the most to lose if this possible outcome plays out. The riskiest of these names, many of which have experienced strong rebounds this year, could give their latest gains and then some.Given the risk that the so-called “new bull market” is nothing but a bull trap, consider it time to sell stocks, especially these seven risky stocks to sell in July.Coinbase Global (COIN)Source: Sergei Elagin / Shutterstock.comThe big rebound in cryptocurrency prices this year has fueled an outsized rebound in price for shares in crypto brokerage platform Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN). Year-to-date (or YTD), the stock is up a staggering 132.4%.But those who went contrarian on COIN stock earlier this year are sitting on big gains; taking profit ASAP appears to be the best move for two reasons. First, crypto prices could pull back if rising rates/a further slowdown in economic growth throw investors back into a “risk off” mood.A crypto sell-off would likely drive a sharp sell-off for COIN. Second, as InvestorPlace’s Larry Ramer recently argued, Coinbase remains in the regulatory crosshairs. The end result could have a material impact on the company’s future operating performance. If you decide to sell off risky stocks in July, COIN is one of the first to bail on if you own it.Carvana (CVNA)Source: Ken Wolter / Shutterstock.comShort-squeeze plays aren’t as popular as they once were, but Carvana (NYSE:CVNA) has been one that has worked out very well this year for speculators.Shares in the online used car retailer are up more than five-fold YTD, largely due to retail traders squeezing the crowded short side (64% of the outstanding float of CVNA stock has been sold short). Yet, while the shorts are sitting on big losses, in the end, they could be vindicated.Carvana’s management has talked up a strong game for this unprofitable, heavily-leveraged company. The company is guiding for stronger results ahead. Even so, used car prices are expected to keep falling. Sell-side earnings forecasts for CVNA still call for the company to report big losses this year, in 2024, and in 2025. All of this points to CVNA plunging from here, making it one of the top stocks to sell in July.GameStop (GME)Source: 1take1shot / Shutterstock.comGameStop (NYSE:GME) has only experienced a moderate rally since the start of 2023. Shares in the video game retailer are up 32.7% YTD. With this, it may seem that this “meme stock king” has less room to fall compared to risky stocks, up by triple-digits this year.Still, keep in mind that while GME stock may not be at risk of experiencing a sudden plunge, the risk of it steadily falling toward its underlying value remains. As the company pursues a shortsighted strategy that may just well hasten its demise, expect the fading “meme stock aura” still surrounding GME to keep dimming. So, what is GameStop’s underlying value? Given there’s little end in sight for GME’s continued unprofitability, the underlying value of shares is likely not much more than the stock’s current book value ($4.18 per share) or more than 81% below GME’s current trading price.Medical Properties Trust (MPW)Source: venusvi / Shutterstock.comHealthcare real estate investment trust (or REIT) Medical Properties Trust (NYSE:MPW) has rallied since May. This move higher is in line with other REITs, which have rallied on rising hopes that the worst is over for rate hikes. Rate hikes place downward pressure on REIT prices.Yet, while MPW stock has performed well lately, this may prove fleeting. Taking these risks into account, consider MPW one of the stocks to sell in July.Netflix (NFLX)Source: izzuanroslan / Shutterstock.comThe “new bull market” has mostly been a bull market for big tech stocks. Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), up by nearly 50% this year, is no exception. However, I side with the skeptics, who believe that investors have gone overboard with their bullishness on NFLX stock. While recent moves like a crackdown on password sharing, plus the introduction of an ad-supported subscription tier, bode well for future results, said improvements to revenue/profitability, at best, may already be priced in.NFLX may be able to sustain its current valuation if earnings rise in line with forecasts. However, given the high competition from rival streaming platforms, results could start falling short of expectations. With further gains hinging on a continued turnaround rather than from a secular growth trend like AI (as is the case with other big tech names), Netflix seems to be the FAANG stock most vulnerable to a big drop.Nio (NIO)Source: Michael Vi / Shutterstock.comNio (NYSE:NIO) shares have performed well recently. Even as the China-based electric vehicle (or EV) maker’s latest monthly deliveries were down 17% on a year-over-year basis, investors remain confident that a re-acceleration in growth will transpire during the second half of 2023.However, those buying NIO stock today could end up regretting their decision. As I recently argued, it appears far more likely that investors will be disappointed with Nio’s operating performance later this year. Either high competition from rival EV makers will lead to lower-than-expected sales growth, or the price cuts Nio has to implement will severely impact margins.Irrespective of whether the bull market continues through year’s end if poor results arise, NIO stock will likely cough back recent gains. Shares could also drop to new multi-year lows. This heavy downside risk makes NIO one of the stocks to sell in July.Opendoor Technologies (OPEN)Source: Tada Images / Shutterstock.comMuch like how REIT stocks have started to bounce back, so too have other stocks tied to the real estate sector. A good example is Opendoor Technologies (NASDAQ:OPEN). Shares in this iBuyer of houses are up by 250% year-to-date.Mostly on rising hopes that the worst is over for the housing market, it points to diminished chances of OPEN stock experiencing a “game over” moment. Yet, while the housing market has merely deflated, not crashed, assuming that the situation can’t worsen from here could be costly if you’re holding OPEN shares today.Talk of a continued “housing shortage” notwithstanding, factors like a possible crash in the short-term rental market (which could lead to a glut of former short-term rentals put up for sale) could put severe pressure on housing prices. This could renew concerns about Opendoor’s future prospects, leading to shares cratering back toward prior price levels.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":78,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":201402881163392,"gmtCreate":1690198253547,"gmtModify":1690198255862,"author":{"id":"4151208892102862","authorId":"4151208892102862","name":"Menova","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/81e23a8f06c201aeef7f69473aaff673","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4151208892102862","idStr":"4151208892102862"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$FTGF APPRECIATION(IE00B1BXHZ80.USD)$ ","listText":"$FTGF APPRECIATION(IE00B1BXHZ80.USD)$ ","text":"$FTGF APPRECIATION(IE00B1BXHZ80.USD)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/201402881163392","repostId":"2353807362","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2353807362","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1690197925,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2353807362?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-07-24 19:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nvidia Is Dominating and Could Unlock $300 Billion in AI Revenue By 2027, Analyst Says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2353807362","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"Mizuho boosts price target on Nvidia's stock to $530.
