The $S&P 500(.SPX)$ was rejected at the 20 DMA for the second consecutive day and has now touched the lower Bollinger Band twice in the last three sessions. One more touch could cause the band to slope downwards.
Meanwhile, the $Cboe Volatility Index(VIX)$ jumped 9.4% to close at 20, a meaningful move setting the stage for a pullback.
