Outlook for 2022

Current market condition seems to be rather uncertain. Nasdaq, S&P and DJI all suffering corrections. There are many factors affecting the 2022 outlook. US Federal Bank meeting in mid Dec, Omicron concerns and its closely related national border policies will likely impact market condition. I would be very cautious in trading until things get more clarity. Stay away from stocks that corrected by 30% (e.g. U, BABA, Palantir), and monitor defensive counters such as PG, TSN. For 2022, I certainly hope to be a consistently profitable trader by improving my chart analysing skills and trade execution.

With a potential stoppage of easy money, the prospects for growth stocks could be bleak. Most of the growth or innovation stocks run on the theory that they would be wildly profitable once they are able to scale. Moreover, it is the vision for the future and it will disrupt the whole way things are done.

However, most are unable to generate positive operating cash flows and their cash burn are enormous for their near-mid term outlook. The basics of investment valuation would be to discount future cash flows but if the future depends on a vision rather than an actual business-like operating model which is to a path of profitability, it would be more of speculating.

There are 2 schools of thoughts.  Some are extremely bullish with target >$1,600 around the corner.  Meanwhile, I’m the pessimistic bearish one.  I agree its business model is on the right direction.  However, looking at the waves generated by Elon Musk selling his shares, the fundamentals and by technical analysis, whichever microscope I deploy to examine, it’s still an extremely over valued stock in my opinion.  Unlike digital services, we are talking about manufacturing and sales of electric vehicles involving traditional raw materials and man-power.  Is it possible to generate profit exponentially within a short period?  I have my reservation.

At 2020, many were shouting NIO!

But after my due diligence, i realised NIO is very good for a trade but not for a hold at that point in time as it's too high for its current value at that point of time. I do not deny that its potential is worth more than that and this is a longterm stock. Its gonna be bullish in the long run.

Most of us will know, technology are risky. Technology failures are common and for giants like this, its stock will be volatile.
