Actions to ride through Inflation fear in 2022
Inflation and raising interest will continue to be the talking point and swing factor for the stock market. If you search around for advise, there are many strategy. Some adopt sell now and fetch again during market crash. Some suggest just ride through it as this is normal. Some predict market crashes, while as usual some believe in the bull.
For me, no right or wrong and no one size fit all. It depends on your risk appetite and your run path.
Few things that i will be doing though are as follows
1. Evaluate my Personal Budget
This is to look for ways and opportunity to reduce cash outlays. Kind of expense optimization. Consider refinancing loans, and paying off debts. Additionally, investing in self learning through skill future scheme which the government provide for professional marketability or supplemental passive income.
2. Invest in MOAT
When inflation hits, the key to prospering is to invest in things that cannot be easily duplicated, things that everyone needs and or company with monopoly or unique advantage. Warren buffet once said good Branding is inflation proof.
3. Review Investment Portfolio
In times of rising inflation, it is good to check to ensure we have the right investment allocation to match your appetite for risk. Stocks market will be of big swing. Growth stock will swing more. Are we ready or is our heart strong enough to see a 40% drop in value? If not, then better position more in traditional stable stocks which swing less.
4. Diversification still key
Inflation is just one factor to consider when making adjustments to a portfolio. For investors, diversifying across several different types of assets to help withstand a volatile stock market period is essential. I find it’s best to create a mix of investments that differ from each other to keep up with rising prices. eg. stocks, reits, crypto, bond...etc
5. Revaluate your safety net
To me, this is more of a feel safe, feel good, and feel secure action. For Singapore, the CPF scheme will provide that safety net. Once you have build up the nest, we are quite secure in terms of basic needs for retirement.
6. Take the big swing as opportunity to invested in Companies that grow over time
After a long period of low inflation, markets are grappling with changing inflation expectations. Uncertainty is leading to an uptick in market volatility. The wisest thing to do in times like this is to stay invested, or take opportunity to buy into great value company due the knee jerk reaction
7. Consider to have more dividend stock or Reits to overcome inflation
Retirement can last more than 30 years since it was reported longevity in Singapore is about 84 yr young. To maintain purchasing power, we need to invest in asset that can overcome inflation. @Tiger Stars@小虎活动
