    Musk indeed has an unique way of doing business. In big organisation, it is always the contractorsthat are being layoff as they only received fix package and not medical benefits. Whenever everything are done ie contractors and the overhead arehigh, the company will look at their employees. Any overlapping work or employees will be next to let go. For technical staffs, their managers will weigh the pros and cons of letting go this particular staff - basically a check list. If this staff has an unique skills ie still need to service customers as he is the only one who knows the product, the company has no reason to retrench this staff.
