Trump Tells Aides He's Willing to End War Without Reopening Hormuz

President Trump has indicated he’s willing to end the U.S. military campaign against Iran, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. U.S. officials say Trump wants to achieve key goals, such as crippling Iran’s navy and missile stockpiles, before winding down hostilities.

The U.S. would then rely on diplomatic pressure and allies to reopen the strait. Oil prices surged above $100 a barrel, with analysts warning prices could reach $200 if disruptions continue.

US stock futures jumped at one time. Nasdaq futures rose 0.99%, Dow futures gained 0,95%; S&P futures up 0.93%.

Oil futures fell at one time. Brent oil futures fell 1.8% to $105.45 a barrel; WTI Crude oil futures sank 1.17% to $101.68 a barrel.

So much for regime change. Just an expensive taxpayer exercise to manipulate the markets and enrich himself and his cronies.

The last lie.  They didn't make enough money.  Or didn't get to get out fast enough. while the market did turn very green on that day, it was shortly pulled back.  Over Sunday he again tries to manipulate the market but was quickly shut down by Iranian officials.  And now he is at it again.  Depleting Iran's missile? Using ground troops while themselves are down with tomahawk? We know he care little if at all with other human lives.

I don't really understand the natural order of impact or if someone could enlighten me. By saying that US is willing to declare "victory" or end the war without opening the Straits of Hormuz, wouldn't this in fact be even worse for the stock markets and better for oil prices? The recent rout of the equities market is because of the oil supply shock. By not pushing the reopening of the straits as a war objective should only exacerbate the current issue.

it is likely that market is pricing for both us and Iran de escalation.
US back down, trump claims victory and blame ally for not helping with the straits.
Iran starts charging toll on the straits, even tho this will increase the cost of shipping but it is relatively negligible for oil prices, and Iran can declare a win as well plus some steady income.
So win win for both size lmao

Trump may have said this, same as he says a lot of stupid things. But walking away now would give Iran the win, so I doubt this is what USA will do.

      I don’t think so.
If US stops, Iran either stops hitting innocent civilian ships or, if it continues, it makes more enemies and looses ‘customers’.
