On Monday, 96-year-old Ruth Gottesman, a former professor at Einstein, announced the donation of Berkshire Hathaway shares worth $1 billion to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
The 1 bln Berkshire shares come from an unexpected inheritance by her late husband when he passed away in 2022.
Ruth said
"I want to support students at Einstein College so they can attend tuition-free."
The Albert Einstein College of Medicine stated in a press release that Ruth's donation is so significant that it will permanently cover the tuition of students at the medical school.
All current fourth-year students will receive reimbursement for their spring 2024 tuition, and starting from August, all current and future students will attend tuition-free.
If you had $1 billion, what would you do?
