I think inner peace is not measured by how much savings you have.Maybe it is due to my stressful job,I wanted to retire 6-7 years ago.Hence,I started my retirement plan at a young age.

I set personal goals at various stage of my life.As I used to do regional role,i saved almost 70% of my salary.

I didn’t really keep track of my wealth until one day a financial advisor sat down with me.i listed whatever I could think of.But I forgotten about my ESPP.The US stocks I am trying to sell to avoid estate tax in the event,I RIP.

I used to be a conservative person and whatever method is available to reduce income tax,I would have a share in it.Endowment plan,SRS,top up my CPF or donations etc.

If you have a solid and well organised retirement plan, you do not have to put a price to it.You will be shocked with the amount when one fine day,you sit down and listed down all the items you have. You will be shocked! This was what happened to be when I did the exercise 3 years ago.Happy problem!
How Much Savings Will Bring You Inner Peace?
The primary reason people work and invest is to accumulate more wealth and have more savings. After all, we cannot work our whole lives, and we need to plan ahead for unforeseen circumstances or our dreams. Some people dream of traveling the world or buying a big house. $100,000, $500,000 or $1,000,000? What's your goal? How much savings can make you feel calm and confident to face life's crises?

Absolutely true. Many people just work n work without sitting down to list down what they have. Always worry about not enough as a result.
I am glad you did. Best wishes.

I have travelled 36 or 38 or 39 countries. Too lazy to open up my spreadsheet.

One of the reasons why i continue working… my leisure travelling was funded by company’s profit sharing. [Chuckle]

My best cruise experience was along the southwest passage of Alaska. I would like to take a cruise through the fjords of Norway in future. I can understand the challenges in juggling between work and caregiving, especially if he or she needs constant attention. I’ve respect for you!

I have planned a lot on what i want to do if i retire.
      1. Longest cruise 274 nights, 8 world wonders, 60+ countries[Chuckle][love you]. So far the longest i had done was 14days : SG-penang-phuket-myanmar-kl-melaka-sg. I prefer the 12days. Flew to sydney. Sydney-auckland-tauranga-napier-wellington-christchurch-dunedin-milford sound-sydney.
The worst cruise was fm SG-vietnam-HK-boracay-malaysia-Sg. The sea turbulence was so great that people 🤢🤮and later diarrhoea; all food were being served as they worried might have cross contamination.
      2. Shatec to be a cullinary student [Happy]
      3. Do more volunteering work. Since the start of pandemic, i had stopped volunteering as busy being a caregiver. But i still sponsored them food. They know who to approach when they need food supply. In addition to yearly donations.
My list can go on n on.

Indeed! I’ve set retirement goals, but upon achieving them I keep setting higher goals and delaying retirement. I reckon that financial independence is only one aspect of early retirement, but often ignored is the mental readiness to retire early when one is still able-bodied.

We came to this world empty handed and shall leave this world empty handed too. Of course, our off-springs are the ones enjoying them. Why not spread the loves to the unfortunate ones too? To me, that’s the inner peace too.Besides, reducing my income tax. [Sweats] Why contribute so much to the gov?
