Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, created the AWS in 1995 to provide a stable investment strategy that can perform well in any economic conditions. The strategy is based on Dalio's research on economic cycles and his conclusion that there are four repeating economic cycles: growth, inflation, tightening, and recession. The AWS allocates assets accordingly: 30% stocks, 40% long-term government bonds, 15% medium-term government bonds, 7.5% commodities, and 7.5% gold.
