GameStop (NASDAQ:GME) stock saw a dramatic rise of more than 30% on Thursday following the announcement of an upcoming livestream on a YouTube account believed to be associated with investor Keith Gill, famously known as "Roaring Kitty" on social media.
The livestream is scheduled for Friday at noon ET, marking Gill's first live appearance on the channel since his influential role in the 2021 meme stock rally.
Gill, who also goes by "DeepF—ing Value" on Reddit, became a central figure in the 2021 surge of GameStop stock through his bullish videos and posts about the video game retailer.
The description on his YouTube account reads: "The Roaring Kitty channel and live streams are for educational and entertainment purposes only. I don't provide personal investment advice or stock recommendations during the stream."
The channel boasts approximately 706,000 subscribers.
Shares of GameStop have experienced significant volatility over the past month, coinciding with Gill's reemergence on social media.
On Monday, shares jumped 21% after an account believed to be tied to Gill posted a screenshot on Reddit, purportedly showing a holding of nearly $175 million in GameStop stock and call options.
Gill's influence on the market and his upcoming livestream have clearly reignited investor interest in GameStop, as evidenced by the recent stock surge.
As the community eagerly anticipates his livestream, the impact of his insights and updates remains to be seen.
