The best thing to ever happen to China's tech industry was sanctions from the US government. Without sanctions, there would have never been a high incentive and push from the Chinese government to develop so quickly.
China simply would have just been America's number one customer and purchased everything like microchips from US companies. But look at what has happened in just a few short years.
Chinese tech is developing at record speeds and faster than the US government could ever imagine! Legacy US companies like $Intel(INTC)$ are getting hammered (worst performing stock in $.SPX(.SPX)$ this year) as over 35% of Intel's revenue was from China.
But now powerhouse companies like $Apple(AAPL)$ are in trouble in the Chinese market. Look at the new Mate 70 phone from Huawei
this tech is so advanced and better than anything Apple has designed. Apple recently fell out of the top 5 mobile phone brands amongst the Chinese smartphone market.
The US government thought they killed Huawei's business, when in reality the company has turned around and made one of the greatest comeback's in corporate history.
