You're saying literally the opposite of the widely accepted and timeless wisdom and golden rule of investing. For retail investors, "Time IN the market is more important and rewarding than timing the market." βοΈ
The whole moral of auto-invest is so research, set your auto-invest goals, quantum, set it and forget it. It saves you from freaking out, panicking, and making dumb decisions. It also stops you from FOMO and overall waste of time with setting complicated order types etc. In the long run, the market tends to trend upwards, and so do good companies and/or ETFs. My strategy is to usually find good ETFs and auto-invest in those, that individual stocks. Before the recent correction (still ongoing) I was up 70% overall. Now it's down to 60ish%. π
