Options Market Statistics: Tesla Shares Jump on Launch of Robotaxi in Austin
$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$
Tesla's stock jumped after its robotaxi test run went well on Sunday. On Sunday, Tesla gave paid robotaxi rides to invited customers in South Austin. Even though it was a small test, it's the first real try of Tesla's self-driving tech. Tesla also sells a feature called Full Self-Driving (FSD), which helps steer and brake, but drivers still need to keep their hands on the wheel.
Tesla's robotaxis use a version of their self-driving software that runs on its own, but the company hasn't explained exactly how it works. Riders can book these cars using an app, and the cars are supposed to drive themselves. However, a human safety worker still sits in the front seat during each ride.
