Hey Tigers,
I am honored to be interviewed by Tiger Trade Community, an online brokerage firm and I‘m happy to share some of my trading results of past 5 years for you.
Feel free to read the below full scripts, If something resonates, drop your questions below and let’s sharpen our edge—together.”
Below are the Interview Questions:
1. How long have you been investing?
For about 15 years now, but only over the past 5 years I have been investing more actively and over the last 3 years, since I joined Tiger Trade, I have started to do more Options trading as well.
2. What is your investment background? (Feel free to include experiences and knowledge gained over time.)
I am an Engineer, do not have financial background, so in the first years I was just trying to "buy low and sell high", without much success. Then during Covid, with my wife, I have start watching more tutorials and understanding the bases of Trading and Investing. I use Youtube quite often to fetch information about companies and market movements.
3. How often do you trade, and why?
I check the market daily and I trade whenever I see a good entry point. On average i do about 50-100 Options contracts per months.
4.What has your return been like in recent years?
I got an 24.12% retun so far in 2025. If I combine my Trading and my Investments, the plot below reflects my yearly returns over the last 5 years.
5.Can you share your most profitable or successful trade?
I call this trade "spreadlegs". If I am long term bullish about a company then I buy a call out of the money and I sell a put at the same strike price with same expiring date. For example back in 2024 I bought calls of NVDA at $100 srike price and sold puts at $100 strike price with expire date of June 2026. The idea is that the puts will finance the calls, so I don't have to spend any capital in the short term, but I will fetch the long term upside of the company. Obviously I will need to onour the margin and If the price of NVDA drops below strike price, I might be forced to buy the shares at $100.
I have done this trade a few times on companies like $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ , $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ , $Reddit(RDDT)$ but you need to be very sure that in the long run these are profitable good companies.
6.Do you believe this trade, strategy, or skill can be replicated to improve your success rate?
Yes I think this is a good strategy to use in times of bullish markets
7.How do you plan your trades to increase your win rate?
I am now more carefull in chosing the right entry point, I am trading a bit less on average, but when there is the right sentiment, e.g. market oversold or overboght, then I place more "contrarian" trades.
8.Would you describe yourself as a swing trader or a value investor?
I embrace both concepts, separately. I think majority of my actions are to be considered as Value investor, e.g. I accummulate ETFs or Shares by doing DCA very regularly too.
9.What financial metrics or technical indicators do you use before making a trade?
I use a lot Moving Averages and intrinsic value as inputs.
10.What are your investment goals for 2025?
I plan to close the year with a return of 25% or better than S&P or Nasdaq, whovever is the highest.
11. Which industries or sectors are you most bullish on?
Technology ( $Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLK)$ /AI $VistaShares Artificial Intelligence Supercycle ETF(AIS)$
12. Do you have any special investment tips or insights to share with the Tiger community?
Don't try to find the next $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ or next $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ , just try to beat the market, that is already hard and if you do consistently you will do very well.
13. Any suggestions for Tiger Brokers?
Don't allow the market to enter under your skin. If when market drops 10%, 15% you are still able to smile, go out for a dinner with your wife, then you are doing it correctly.
If you feel sad, angry, upset with yourself, moody, can't sleep, then you have to fix something; either you are overtrading, or you don't yet have the mentality of a trader/investor.
Thank you for your reading and happy investing.
