Ah, Christmas in Singaporeāthereās something about it that never fails to make me smile. No snow, no frostbitten fingers, but the city still glows with festive cheer. Some streets are dressed in fairy lights, malls practically glowing with decorations, and in many places, Christmas songs drift through the airāsometimes catching you off guard when youāre just trying to get your kopi. Iāve always daydreamed about seeing Christmas abroadāthe snowy markets of Europe, cozy chalets with mulled wine, or maybe a tropical beach escapeābut alas, the time isnāt there. So, this year, Iāll be enjoying Christmas closer to home.
Christmas morning usually starts with my favorite ritual: coffee in one hand, phone in the other, casually scrolling through market news and stock notifications. The market might be closed for the day, but old habits die hardāI like to keep an eye on prices and news, just to stay in the loop. Itās a gentle connection to the financial world, a little nod to my trading side even on a holiday.
I plan to venture out to Gardens by the Bay. Walking through the Christmas Wonderland and the Christmas Train Show is like stepping into another universeātwinkling lights everywhere, festive music and displays that make you pause and just grin. Then thereās Togetherland by World Christmas Market. I havenāt been yet, but imagining wandering through it, sipping something warm while snapping photos, already makes me feel festive.
Afternoons are reserved for family time. We gather, share meals and laugh at the same old stories.
Evening brings the city to life in full color. Orchard Road dazzles, some cafes tempt with Christmas-themed drinks (yes, Iāll probably have one just because it looks cute), and festive carols drift from street performers and bustling shops. Walking through it all, you canāt help but feel the quirky charm of Singaporean Christmasābright, busy, and somehow magical.
So this Christmas, my plan is simple: enjoy Singaporeās festive spirit, explore new celebrations in town, and spend quality time with familyāall while keeping a casual eye on the market. No snow, no Europeājust the magic of Christmas right here in our sunny little island. And honestly? Thatās enough to make the season feel special.
