SK Hynix's profit increased in the second quarter, signed a $500 billion cooperation order with Nvidia, and its financial report fell short of expectations, triggering stock price fluctuations
SK Hynix's operating profit in the second quarter reached 60.54 trillion won, net profit was 93.82 trillion won, and sales were 79.32 trillion won. The profit increased significantly year-on-year but missed analysts' expectations. The company announced that HBM4 video memory has been mass-produced and shipped, and will expand its supply in the second half of the year, and sign long-term agreements with a number of customers to consolidate its leading position in the market. In the first half of 2026, SK Hynix's operating profit soared by 557%, with both revenue and profit hitting record highs. Driven by AI demand, the company accelerated the layout of high value-added products. The company also confirmed the signing of a cooperation agreement with Nvidia worth a total of US$500 billion to promote the mass production of HBM4 high-bandwidth memory. Despite the excellent performance, the operating profit in the second quarter was less than expected, which caused the stock price of U.S. stocks to rise after a sharp drop. South Korea's KOSPI index was fused for two consecutive days, Samsung Electronics also plummeted, and the memory chip sector as a whole was under pressure.
