Hey Tiger🐯,

Tesla and Broadcom attracted fresh bullish calls last week, while Alphabet’s search monetization and Intel’s recovery outlook faced closer scrutiny.

But the most interesting signals went beyond “Buy” and “Hold.”

Rivian received an upgrade without a higher price target. Texas Instruments moved from Sell to Hold. Intel attracted opposing rating changes on the same day.

Here are the selected calls worth a closer look—and the business developments that could determine what happens to their shares next.

1|Early-week upgrades: Tesla and Broadcom regain support

Dates refer to reported analyst actions. These are selected calls, rather than a complete market tally.

Tesla: A higher target with a deal-sensitive thesis

Barclays analyst Dan Levy upgraded $TSLA to Overweight and raised his target to $450 from $370.

The firm cited a potential SpaceX combination, a stronger core-business outlook and signs of a robotaxi inflection. The reported thesis included a potential takeover premium, with a shareholder vote required for a combination. These remain elements of Barclays’ investment case—not confirmation of a completed transaction.

What matters: Investors should distinguish operating progress from a potential transaction premium.

Our stock outlook: Better operating evidence and concrete transaction developments could support sentiment. Delays or weaker deal expectations could remove part of the premium investors are willing to pay. The $450 target should therefore be assessed alongside the assumptions behind it.

Broadcom: AI financing becomes part of the chip thesis

D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria upgraded $AVGO to Buy and increased his target to $400 from $350.

His argument focused on Anthropic’s IPO filing and the prospect that additional capital would support future AI infrastructure spending. The firm linked Broadcom’s outlook to the funding capacity of major custom-chip customers, including Anthropic and OpenAI.

What matters: Customer funding, infrastructure commitments and eventual chip revenue need to connect.

Our stock outlook: Evidence that customers can fund and execute their spending plans could support a rerating. Financing delays or slower conversion of commitments into revenue would challenge the upgrade’s assumptions.

2|Later-week upgrades: A better rating can mean different things

Texas Instruments: Less bearish does not automatically mean bullish

On October 28, DZ Bank analyst Ingo Wermann upgraded $TXN from Sell to Hold, raising the target from $240 to $300.

The destination matters as much as the direction.

An upgrade to Hold reduces the analyst’s negative stance. It does not carry the same message as a new Buy recommendation.

What matters: Look for evidence that earnings expectations and valuation justify a stronger stance.

Our stock outlook: The rating change may help sentiment, but a sustained advance would need additional support from the business outlook. Investors should avoid treating every upgrade as an equally strong upside signal.

Rivian: The entry price changes, while the target stays put

On October 30, Jefferies upgraded $RIVN from Hold to Buy, keeping its $17 target unchanged.

The firm viewed the stock’s roughly 30% correction over three months as an attractive entry point. Its commentary highlighted execution, capital discipline and encouraging R2 order conversion.

This is an important valuation distinction.

The analyst became more positive without increasing the estimated destination for the stock.

What matters: A lower share price can improve an investment’s risk-reward profile even when the valuation target remains unchanged.

Our stock outlook: Continued execution and funding confidence could support a recovery. Disappointing production economics or renewed financing concerns would weaken that case. A previous decline alone does not establish a floor.

3|Downgrades: Alphabet and Intel face earnings-quality questions

Published reports conflict on Alphabet’s target-price treatment, so no target is reproduced here. The downgrade itself is corroborated.

Alphabet: More searches still need to produce more revenue

Citizens downgraded Alphabet after its third-quarter report.

The firm said search growth slowed by five percentage points from Q2 to Q3, even as query growth reached a five-year high. Its concern centered on monetization and execution as search evolves toward AI agents.

What matters: Usage and monetization are separate tests.

Our stock outlook: Evidence that AI-driven activity supports stronger search monetization could rebuild confidence. If usage expands without sufficient revenue conversion, investors may remain reluctant to assign a higher valuation.

The key question is how effectively Alphabet earns from changing user behavior.

Intel: The next quarter outweighs the earnings beat

BofA analyst Vivek Arya downgraded $INTC to Neutral and cut the target to $100 from $145 on October 30.

Intel reported adjusted EPS of $0.52, above the $0.40 estimate cited in the report. However, fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $15B–$16B fell below the $17.08B expectation, while adjusted EPS guidance of $0.25 compared with $0.44 consensus.

BofA highlighted PC weakness, supply constraints and limited demonstrated traction with external foundry customers.

What matters: A backward-looking earnings beat can coexist with a weaker forward outlook.

Our stock outlook: Better PC demand, improved supply availability or credible external foundry wins could support a recovery. Continued estimate reductions would make a sustained rebound harder to justify.

4|Intel: The same stock, opposing calls

Intel also received an upgrade on October 30.

KGI Securities analyst Felix Pan raised the rating from Neutral to Outperform, with a $95 target.

Here is the useful contrast:

The more positive rating came with the lower dollar target.

Brokerages use different rating frameworks, assumptions and reference points. Comparing the labels alone can therefore mislead.

What matters: Read each firm’s methodology and underlying earnings assumptions before deciding which call is more optimistic.

5|What could move these stocks next?

The following are our conditional interpretations, rather than brokerage forecasts or numerical price predictions.

These scenarios help frame what to watch. They are not assurances about the next trading session or a particular price level.

6|What are these calls telling Tigers?

Our reading is that last week’s selected changes reflected several different investment questions.

Tesla’s upgrade included a potential transaction premium. Broadcom’s depended partly on customer financing. Rivian’s highlighted a more attractive entry price. Alphabet and Intel brought monetization and forward earnings back into focus.

Before acting on a rating headline, check what changed:

The business forecast, the valuation, the share price—or a combination?

That is more useful than counting Buy and Hold labels.

7|Tiger community vote

Which call deserves the closest watch?

A. Tesla — How much of the bull case depends on transaction expectations?

B. Broadcom — Can AI customer funding translate into chip revenue?

C. Rivian — Does an unchanged $17 target make the upgrade more convincing?

D. Alphabet or Intel — Which has the clearer path to rebuilding earnings confidence?

Vote A, B, C or D in the comments, and tell us which business metric would change your mind! 🐯

    B. Broadcom
Wall Street upgrades are interesting, but real investment opportunities depend on which assumptions become earnings.

Broadcom stands out because AI spending is shifting towards custom chips and networking. However, customer funding announcements are not confirmed orders, and orders do not guarantee profitable revenue.

Tesla's bullish case depends heavily on Robotaxi execution and potential SpaceX deal expectations. Rivian's unchanged $17 target suggests Jefferies sees a better entry point, not necessarily higher business value.

Intel deserves caution. Conflicting analyst calls reflect disagreement over whether manufacturing improvements can deliver sustainable profitability.

My view: AVGO has the stronger earnings-driven thesis, while INTC remains a prove-it story. I would trust improving cash flow, margins and actual customer demand over optimistic price targets.

Broadcom or alphabet are the Best Buy. Both has dropped about 30% from all time high which present a great opportunity. As long as companies still earn tons of money, stock drop to $1 also never mind. PE 1 is the best time to buy a company

    Option B: Broadcom ($AVGO)
    Analytical Thesis:

Broadcom presents the pivotal risk-reward test. D.A. Davidson’s upgrade ($400 PT) hinges on Anthropic’s filing, framing custom ASIC demand as a primary structural driver.

Performance depends on revenue conversion over capital intent. The critical metric is translating customer financing into high-margin silicon revenue. If AI hyperscalers hit execution delays, AVGO’s multiple risks de-rating. Conversely, steady custom deliveries solidify its core infrastructure leadership.

    Summary of Analyst Calls

Tesla ($TSLA): Barclays upgraded to Overweight ($450 PT) on SpaceX synergies/Robotaxi; sensitive to deal premiums.

Rivian ($RIVN): Jefferies upgraded to Buy ($17 PT unchanged) on valuation pullback.

Alphabet ($GOOGL): Citizens downgraded on search growth deceleration and AI monetization lags.

Intel ($INTC): Split—BofA downgraded to Neutral ($100 PT); KGI upgraded to Outperform ($95 PT).

B Broadcom - the chip is ASIC which is very high in demand. A lot of backlog for the chips which make means the company could be like micron suddenly have a lot of deliveries to deliver
