While Tiger Trade App is available in both Mobile (Android, iOS) and Desktop (Windows, MacOS) platforms, I think the most commendable features are found in the all-in-one ‘super App’ for smartphones.
Two features worth mentioning are the Community and Discover buttons, which I briefly explore below.
Community
Tapping on Community button will bring you to the For You tab where you see Trending or Featured posts. Tapping on other tabs will bring you to posts from fellow investors and traders you Follow, News, Live Events, Videos (pretty self-explanatory).
You will have at your fingertips, instant access to latest information on stocks and options in your watchlists, to help you make more informed investing/trading decisions (see screenshot).
Feel free to ‘lurk’ around the Community and observe, and if you are keen, join the discussion by commenting and posting to share your experience and views. That was how I get started too.
The Community is friendly and as expected of online chats and forums, postings are a diverse range, from insightful, helpful, informative to humorous, to maybe just some emojis or “ok”; generally improving in quality over time, based on my anecdotal observations. Posting guidelines are followed, and there are features to report abuse that is quite promptly followed-up by moderators, but with light touch.
By following the different Tiger officials or your favourite fellow investors accounts, do click on the notification button (tap the bell+ icon to the left of the Followed button -see screenshot), you would be the first to know of latest posts, current contests, giveaways and competitions of simulated or real trades.
You could be rewarded typically with coins exchangeable for vouchers to offset stock price and commissions for participating. A little incentive never hurt I supposed, and is something employed by other online brokers too.
Discover Opportunities
I recently tapped on the Discover button and was pleasantly surprised to find some hidden gems in the Opportunity Tab (see screenshot)
Tapping the Hot Stocks, Ranking and OPT Active icons let you see stocks and options that are “hot” based on certain criteria such as top volume or gainers or unusual options activities, which might present trading opportunities. Alternatively, set your own criteria in the Filters icon. Of course, icon flagged with “NEW” means new addition to the App, and Tiger has been quite responsive in adding more user requested features. Follow @TigerPM to see latest release notes.
Above is not meant to be a comprehensive review and I am probably ‘preaching to the converted’.
There are likely more hidden gems and I have not even scratched the surface, much.
So, do you have any favourite, or know of cool or little known features helpful to someone newer to Tiger Trade App?
