The European gas benchmark surged after Russia was accused of sabotaging Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, stoking fresh fears about supply security before the northern winter.European gas prices rose following news of the leaks. Dutch front-month futures jumped more than 22 per cent before closing 7 per cent higher at €186.10 ($277) a megawatt hour. The UK equivalent price rose as much as 34 per cent, and closed 6.2 per cent higher at 255.65 pence a thermal unit.
The benchmark October Dutch price was up by 11% at 204.50 euros/megawatt hour on Wednesday. Although prices are still below this year's peaks, they remain more than 200% higher than in early September 2021.
Analysts anticipate higher thermal coal prices will have a material impact on the earnings of BHP Group, Whitehaven Coal, New Hope Corporation and Coronado Global Resources.
Macquarie upgraded its forecast for thermal coal prices in response to its expectation that demand would continue to exceed supply. According to Macquarie, its price target for coal stocks on $BHP GROUP LTD(BHP.AU)$ has been raised by 5 percent to $44, $Coronado Global(CRN.AU)$ has been raised by 3 percent to $3.60, $WHITEHAVEN COAL LTD(WHC.AU)$ has been raised by 20 percent to $12, and $New Hope(NHC.AU)$ has been raised by 17 percent to $7.

Electricity generation should be based on solar PV, wind energy, and hydropower, while batteries and multi-fuel reciprocating internal combustion engines based on synthetic fuels provide the required flexibility to the power system. This transition would address multiple imperatives: affordability, accessibility, and sustainability without compromising economic growth.
USA hurricane, Nord stream 2 pipeline burst, Bank of England quantitative easing...
Sounds like oil and gas shortage again? No more recession?
Think again. Impending downturn is round the corner. Only waiting for official declaration.
Go green. Go $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ . That's the future.
With the damage to the Nord Stream Pipeline 1 and 2, it looks like the EU is set for a cold long winter. Gas prices are at all time high and I believe this energy rally will continue.
The EU needs to shore up its supply for gas before winter hits and countries like the US and Australia will certainly benefit due to higher demand. OPEC has also indicated that it may reduce the production of oil with the slowing of world economies.
There is also a current ban by US and its allies on Russian oil and this has exacerbated the shortage of supply to cope with rising demand.
I am bullish on $Woodside Energy Group Ltd(WDS)$ as it is Australia 's premier oil player with operations in LNG, Natural Gas, condensate and crude oil. Its 2Q22 production is up 60% with Revenue up 44%. Woodside rewards its shareholders generously with 13.6% dividend yield.
Renewable Energy is the future but for now Energy prices will continue to rally for as long as the Ukrainian war is ongoing.
@Tiger_AU
Energy prices will remain high but not exceeding the 2022 peak .
Energy sector overall will enjoy high profits as they can pass off the increase to consumers
i choose $New Hope(NHC.AU)$ for the upcoming rally next . :)
2) Nord Stream pipelines shutdown. EU has to pay for higher cost of LNG from the US n middle East
3) Hurricane season is shutting down Mexican offshore oil platforms & inshore oil refineries
4) Winter is coming. Demand for oil & gas will shoot up
5) China is exiting Covid lockdown policy. Demand for oil & gas will go up
6) Most countries are opening up boarders to travellers w/o the need to quarantine. Airplane fuels demand goes up
7) Zero carbon policy has pressured big oil companies stopped from proceedings to find new oil sources.
For the next 6 months, all energy prices should escalate higher ❗😂
