On May 11 at the Google I/O conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai unveiled PaLM 2, an artificial intelligence language model.
Google's latest AI achievements on I/O conference
1) PaLM 2, an artificial intelligence language model, can generate a variety of text responses for users.
PaLM 2 can be used in 100 languages and is good at mathematical reasoning, software development, language translation, and natural language generation.
Around 20 Google products are using PaLM 2, and a lightweight version of PaLM 2 can run on mobile devices.
2) Bard, the AI chatbot, has been upgraded to be powered by PaLM 2, providing more sophisticated responses.
Bard's programming capabilities have also been improved, and it now integrates with various programming tools. Bard has learned more than 20 programming languages such as C++, Go, Python, as well as functions in Google Sheets.
Bard will be integrated with other services like music streaming service $Spotify Technology S.A.(SPOT)$ , retail giant $Wal-Mart(WMT)$ , real estate platform $Redfin Corp(RDFN)$ , food delivery service $Uber(UBER)$ Eats, travel website $TripAdvisor(TRIP)$ , and job search website $ZipRecruiter Inc.(ZIP)$.
3) Google has another AI model called Gemini, which can recognize "synthetically generated content," such as text, images, and footage created by AI.
4) Gmail will launch a "Help Me Write" feature using generative AI, which will help users write emails.
Simply enter the desired prompts, click create, and the AI-generated email content will be produced. This feature is familiar to most of us as $Microsoft(MSFT)$ already launched Microsoft 365 Copilot and equip this function on Word.
Google or Microsoft: who will win AI Battle?
$Microsoft(MSFT)$ seems to be the king in AI sector and posted a strong performance after last earnings,
$Alphabet(GOOG)$ , however, was weak since the AI heat. Among big tech companies, only $Alphabet(GOOG)$ haven’s experienced a real rally yet. After this meeting, some investors said they believe Google will present us more AI products and progress ahead.
Maybe after the surprising launch of AI progress one day, $Alphabet(GOOG)$ will surge.
As investors, which company will you pick?

On the contrary, Google’s Bard has not met expectations given its long investment in AI. Furthermore, we have yet to see integration of its AI with other applications.
This is a defining moment as these 2 tech giants race to innovate and claim supreme leadership in AI. No one can clearly say who will be the eventual winner but judging from Microsoft’s commitment to integrating AI in its entire ecosystem, it seems to be at the forefront for now.
