while I respect the man of talent elon musk. No doubt he's an influencer and all. I usually take things said with a pinch of salt. Claiming that the company will be bigger than apple and saudi aramco combined are some big words but he does not explain how his way of working towards that would be. I see some challenges to such goals.
1. Tesla lacks the experience in making cars. Their car still has ways before they are on par with luxury car makers. If they want to dominate, they have to improve the quality of cars they make, their cars cant compete with luxury cars model eg lexus etc in terms of build quality and comfort. No doubt tesla is a fun and fast car to drive.
2 EV is not the only path to zero carbon. There's also other tech eg hydrogen cars which toyota is researching on.
3 To scale up EV adoption, the world needs the infrastructure to support it. This still remains a problem to be solved worldwide.
4 Is EV truly 0 carbon? Unless the world changes totally to aquire electricity via natural means (not by burning coal or natural gas) EV users are not truly 0 carbon. This still remains a challenge to becoming truly 0 carbon and perhaps in the future some other technology might trump EV.
I think these are potential the issues for the world to pivot towards EV adoption. If the world pivots perhaps what elon's mention of being bigger than apple and saudi aramco would be much more possible.
