For me its definitely small to mid cap stocks. One of the long term stock for me is NIO that is still at infant stage of its growth. Unlike BYD has been around for a while 1. Rather then be intimidated by the decline, investors should buy-the-dip in MARA stock.</p><p>Marathon Digital’s share price rose sharply higher last year as the price of <strong>Bitcoin </strong>(<strong><u>BTC-USD</u></strong>) steadily increased. In recent months, MARA stock has been thrown into turmoil as Bitcoin’s price peaked at just under $74,000 on March 14 and then sold off. There are also concerns about how the upcoming Bitcoin halving event scheduled for later in April will impact crypto miners such as Marathon Digital. However, these concerns are overblown and Marathon Digital stock still looks positioned for long-term success.</p><h2 id=\"id_17711694\">Strong Earnings</h2><p>Marathon Digital isn’t an unprofitable start-up company or fly-by-night operation. On the contrary, Marathon Digital has established itself as legitimate going concern and leader in the digital asset space. In business since 2010 and one of the world’s first crypto miners, Marathon Digital most recently reported exceptionally strong earnings for the fourth-quarter of 2023. The company’s revenue of $156.8 million was up 452% from a year earlier.</p><p>During Q4 2023, Marathon Digital stock produced a record 4,242 Bitcoins, which is more than all that it generated in the previous year. The company also announced a profit of $151.8 million, which was well ahead of a net loss of $391.6 million recorded in the previous year. To be sure, higher prices for BTC and other cryptocurrencies helped Marathon Digital’s earnings. But so too did higher production, an improved hash rate, and an increase in the company’s mining capacity.</p><h2 id=\"id_204735472\">The Halving Event</h2><p>Bitcoin is scheduled to undergo a halving event on or around April 20 of this year. The lead-up to the event is causing a lot of handwringing in cryptocurrency circles, prompting MARA stock and others to slide lower. But much of the concern is unwarranted. If anything, the halving event should help boost the price of Bitcoin higher in both the short and long-term, leading to improved profitability for Marathon Digital in its role as a leading BTC miner.</p><p>A halving event is when the amount of Bitcoin that can be mined, and the rewards received for it, is reduced by 50%. Past halving events have driven the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies significantly higher. The halving also comes as demand for Bitcoin has never been stronger. The approval of spot BTC exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. has driven up demand for the crypto just as the supply is about the be cut in half. Crypto bulls say this situation should push Bitcoin’s price to new all-time highs.</p><p>While the halving event could present some challenges to crypto miners such as Marathon Digital as the available supply is reduced, the higher price of Bitcoin should help the company’s future profitability.</p><h2 id=\"id_2864225102\">Buy MARA Stock</h2><p>Despite its downturn in recent months, Marathon Digital stock stock is still up 70% over the last year. The crypto miner has many things working in its favor. It’s profitable, its revenue is growing at an exponential rate, and it has been mining records amount of Bitcoin as the price of the largest crypto ascends to new heights. While the upcoming halving event could create some issues for the company, an even higher price for Bitcoin should smooth out any rough patches that are encountered. It has a global footprint and essentially a monopoly on the internet. 93% of all web traffic passes through Google. This company is not going anywhere.</p><h2 id=\"id_2179259934\">Risks</h2><p>The only real risk with Google doesn&#39;t come from the market but from regulators. Google is too big for many countries&#39; liking, making it a target in various lawsuits. Just last month, UK consumers launched a multi-billion pound lawsuit against the company.</p><p>But the fact that GOOGL can just shrug these off is a testament to just how powerful this company is.</p><h2 id=\"id_2935383005\">Final Thoughts</h2><p>I think there&#39;s a good reason why the magnificent 7 have rallied while other stocks have not. For better and for worse, the big are getting bigger, and there is no bigger than GOOGL. This is a must-own stock, in my opinion, and it makes for a very good recession play thanks to its strong balance sheet and revenue resilience. Shopee&#39;s sales soared as more people shopped online throughout the pandemic, while Garena&#39;s <em>Free Fire</em> became the world&#39;s most downloaded battle royale game for mobile devices. But in 2022, its revenue only grew 25% as both businesses faced tough post-pandemic slowdowns.</p><p>Shopee struggled with fierce competition from <strong>Alibaba</strong>&#39;s Lazada across Southeast Asia, and the macroeconomic headwinds drove it to shut down several of its overseas marketplaces in Latin America, India, and Europe. Garena&#39;s <em>Free Fire</em> lost a lot of its paying users as the pandemic passed, and that slowdown was exacerbated by an unexpected ban in India -- its fastest-growing market -- which lasted from February 2022 to August 2023.</p><p>In 2022, Garena&#39;s bookings plunged 39%, and its revenue fell 9%. That slowdown partly offset Shopee&#39;s 18% growth in gross merchandise volume (GMV) and 42% revenue growth. Garena&#39;s slowdown forced Sea to aggressively cut costs over the past year since it previously subsidized the expansion of its unprofitable Shopee and SeaMoney divisions with <em>Free Fire&#39;</em>s profits.</p><p>Analysts expect Sea&#39;s revenue to rise less than 4% in 2023, but they also expect it to turn profitable for the first time since its IPO. Yet reining in its spending could narrow Shopee&#39;s moat by reducing its promotions and subsidies while delaying Garena&#39;s development of new games to succeed<em> Free Fire</em>. Sea&#39;s stock might seem cheap at less than 2 times this year&#39;s sales, but its high-growth days are likely over, and both of its core businesses could face existential challenges. </p><h2 id=\"id_2613667695\">Grab&#39;s near-term prospects look brighter</h2><p>In 2021, Grab&#39;s first year as a public company, its revenue rose 44% as its GMV grew 29%. In 2022, its revenue and GMV grew another 112% and 24%, respectively.</p><p>That growth was driven by the robust growth of both its mobility and delivery segments, which grew their GMV by 47% and 15%, respectively, for the full year. Its financial services GMV also rose 27% as it expanded its online lending business.</p><p>For 2023, Grab expects its revenue to rise 54% to 61%. It&#39;s still deeply unprofitable because it relies heavily on loss-leading incentives to gain new businesses and consumers, but it&#39;s been reducing those incentives throughout the first half of the year. As a result, it expects to narrow its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) loss from $793 million in 2022 to just $30 to $40 million in 2023.</p><p>Just like Uber, economies of scale are finally kicking in at Grab, which consistently dominates the mobility and food delivery markets across Southeast Asia with its 35 million monthly transacting users (MTUs).
