Tesla is keeping things simple by limiting to black or white... afterall the demand for white or black is already keeping them very busy... so no need to complicate paint colors , especially with covid, logistics and recession risks

Things have been even more challenging for the tech-driven Nasdaq Composite, which has shed as much as 24% since its November peak and was firmly in a bear market as of early last week.

But where there's short-term pain, there's also an opportunity for long-term gains. That's because every stock market correction and bear market has eventually been wiped away by a bull market rally. When you invest in innovative stocks at a discount and allow your investment thesis to play out over time, there's a good chance you'll build wealth.

The following three surefire stocks are all trading at a discount during the market sell-off and have both the catalysts and intangibles necessary to turn a $200,000 investment into $1 million by 2030.

Nio

The first innovative company that has the potential to quintuple investors' money over the next eight years is China-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio.

Although supply chain concerns are never a positive, the important thing to note here is that Nio's near-term struggles have absolutely nothing to do with demand. This means opportunistic investors have the chance to buy this innovative EV maker at a substantial discount to its all-time high.

Nio's innovation comes in two forms. The first is readily apparent: its introduction of new vehicles. For example, the company's ET7 and ET5 sedans offer up to 621 miles of range with the top battery option. These sedans are direct competitors to Tesla's flagship sedans, the Model S and Model 3, and provide superior range (again, with the battery upgrade). China is the world's leading auto market, which gives Nio a large runway with which to gobble up market share with its premium sedans and SUVs.

The other way Nio is innovating is with its service. In August 2020, the company introduced its battery-as-a-service (BaaS) subscription, which allows its EV buyers to charge, swap, or upgrade their batteries. Enrollment in BaaS also provides a discount on the purchase price of a Nio EV. Despite giving up some near-term sales with BaaS, Nio locks in long-term subscription revenue and the loyalty of its early buyers.

Based on Wall Street's fluid forecast, Nio is on track to quadruple its sales by 2024, as well as turn the corner to recurring profitability. By 2023, most of the company's supply chain issues should be in the rearview mirror. That makes it a good bet to turn deliver 400% returns for shareholders by 2030.

Upstart Holdings

A second surefire stock that can deliver jaw-dropping sales and profit growth throughout the remainder of the decade is cloud-based lending platform Upstart Holdings.

The big knock against Upstart is that historically high inflation in the U.S. is coercing the nation's central bank to get aggressive with interest rate hikes. As a lending-based service, there's obvious concern that higher interest rates will dramatically slow loan-processing activity, which would be bad news for the company.

But Upstart has a few tricks up its sleeve. To begin with, its lending platform relies on artificial intelligence (AI). Whereas the traditional loan-vetting process can take weeks, approximately 70% of Upstart's loan applicants are fully automated and approved on the spot. This helps save lending institutions time and money.

What's interesting is that Upstart's AI-powered lending platform is helping to democratize loan access without adversely impacting lending institutions. Even though the average credit score of Upstart's approvals is lower than the average credit score of traditional loan approvals, there's been no difference in delinquency rates. As interest rates rise and the sheer number of loan applications to process declines, it's likely we'll see banks turn to Upstart even more than they are now given the success of its AI-driven lending platform.

Something else investors should note is that Upstart has no credit exposure and generated 94% of its revenue from fees and services. This means if a recession does strike and loan delinquencies rise, Upstart doesn't have to set aside capital to cover loan losses.

Looking a bit further out, Upstart should also benefit from its push into AI-based auto lending. The auto loan origination market is over seven times larger than the personal loan market it's been focused on for years. Upstart is in the very early innings of what should be sustained rapid growth.

Pinterest

The third surefire stock that can turn a $200,000 investment into a cool $1 million by 2030 is social media company Pinterest.

The pandemic has sent Pinterest on a roller-coaster ride. It initially soared on big user gains, with people stuck in their homes during the initial stages of the pandemic. But since the end of March 2021, declines in monthly active user (MAU) figures have left Wall Street skeptical of Pinterest's future. To add, there's also concern that Apple's iOS privacy changes, which allow app users to turn off data tracking, could inhibit ad-driven businesses like Pinterest.

However, neither of these near-term headwinds should be fazing long-term investors. For example, even though Pinterest's total MAUs have declined from a peak of 478 million to 433 million over the past year, panning out four or five years shows a steady uptrend in total MAUs. In other words, the MAU decline in recent quarters is simply user growth retracing back to historic norms following the unsustainable pandemic-related boost.

Additionally, regardless of whether MAUs have increased or declined on a year-over-year basis, Pinterest hasn't had any trouble monetizing its user base. The latest quarter, which featured 45 million fewer MAUs than the same quarter last year, saw global average revenue per user (ARPU) climb 28%, with European ARPU up an even more impressive 40%. This demonstrates that merchants are willing to pay a premium to reach Pinterest's user base. It also clearly suggests that international markets are where Pinterest's greatest opportunity lies.

Apple's iOS privacy changes aren't much to worry about, either. While other social media platforms have some guesswork to do in order to help advertisers target users, the entire premise of Pinterest's platform is for users to freely and willingly share the things, places, and services that interest them. This makes Pinterest incredibly valuable for merchants wanting to target specific interests.

Following a nearly 15-month downtrend, Pinterest looks ripe for the picking and fully capable of quintupling investors' money by the end of the decade.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Surefire Stocks That Can Turn $200,000 Into $1 Million by 2030
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Surefire Stocks That Can Turn $200,000 Into $1 Million by 2030\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-05-09 09:59 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Whether you're a new or tenured investor, you've been given a wake-up call in 2022 that stocks can go down just as easily as they can rise. increasing acceptability of the digital asset.
\n
The big question observers are asking is, why is the Elon Musk-run company doing this?
\n
Monday, electric-car maker Tesla said in a public filing that it purchased $1.5 billion of bitcoin and that it expects to begin accepting payment in the cryptocurrency for its products in the future.
\n
The move by Tesla to invest in bitcoins was seen as further confirmation of the legitimacy of the nascent asset that didn’t exist until about 12 years ago.
\n
However, bitcoin is seen as a volatile asset that is prone to sharp price volatility and Monday’s announcement by Tesla was described by some corporate finance professionals as an unnecessary addition of risk to the vehicle maker’s balance sheet in the form of currency or a commodity, depending on how you classify bitcoin.
\n
While it’s not clear, at this point, why Musk & Co. have opted to expose the company to the possible risk of owning bitcoin, here are a few reasons why the revolutionary company may have aligned itself with the crypto crowd.
\n
Diversification
\n
Tesla made it clear in its statement filed with its regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission that it sees bitcoin as a chance to diversify its cash and cash-equivalent holdings.
\n
Corporations usually hold excess cash and/or cash-equivalents, like Treasury bills or commercial paper on their books to provide operational liquidity and generate returns while limiting risks.
\n
Tesla wrote, “we updated our investment policy to provide us with more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash that is not required to maintain adequate operating liquidity.”
\n
The move isn’t without risk, Tesla acknowledges as the price of bitcoin could slump.
\n
“If we hold digital assets and their values decrease relative to our purchase prices, our financial condition may be harmed,” the company acknowledges.
\n
But a single bitcoin, which has soared 62% so far this year, could easily be headed for a six-digit value if bullish momentum continues to build, which would make Musk look smart.
\n
Publicity stunt?
\n
“Thankfully, Elon Musk on Monday once again ensured no one would be bored, with the unexpected announcement that Tesla will buy bitcoin and accept them as payment for vehicles,” writes Craig Erlam, senior market analyst at Oanda, in a Tuesday research note.
\n
The analyst referred to the move as a “publicity stunt,” a move that everbody is talking about, but there are a number of ways to think about it.
\n
Brand management
\n
Bitcoin is associated with a group of iconoclastic founders who were attempting to break the mold on payments and fiat money. That was the idea behind cryptos being written into code back in 2009 by a person or persons known as Satoshi Nakamoto.
\n
Those rebellious notions align somewhat with Musk’s own agenda of disruption. Tesla is making electric-powered vehicles in a world that has thus far been dominated by fossil-fuel driven cars.
\n
Moreover, Tesla’s direct-to-customer sales model also is viewed as trendsetting, since many companies sell their cars through unaffiliated dealerships.
\n
Bitcoin’s image as a decentralized asset, not controlled by any one body, also fits with Tesla’s image and that of its leader Musk.
\n

\n
The future of $
\n
Tesla’s $1.5 billion investment in bitcoin could also be a simple hedge against the hegemony of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency since World War Two.
\n
Bitcoin, or something like it, represents the future of payment systems to many supporters, even if it isn’t currently an effective means of exchange due to its current volatility.
\n
“Yesterday’s move by Tesla to invest in bitcoin and start accepting it as payment for its own products really moved the needle,” wrote Simon Peters, cryptoasset analyst at multiasset investment platform eToro, in emailed comments.
\n
The eToro analyst said that there are unconfirmed talks about technology behemoths Apple Inc. and Google-parent Alphabet Inc.,linking it to their own payment systems.
\n
Musk is viewed as an innovator tied to electric vehicles, batteries and space exploration via SpaceX, but one of his early ventures was in payments.
\n
Writing on the wall
\n
The Wall Street Journal notes that, the Tesla CEO invested most of the $22 million he earned from the sale of an internet business into a new startup, X.com, which became PayPal Holdings about 20 years ago.
\n
PayPal currently is among the vanguard of bitcoin revolution. PayPal back in November opened up its cryptocurrency platform to all U.S. customers after conducting a more narrow rollout.
\n
Moreover, several high-profile Wall Street investors, including Stanley Druckenmiller and Paul Tudor Jones, have embraced bitcoin. Famed investor Bill Miller, founder of Miller Value Partners, in a letter to clients earlier this month published on the firm’s website, reaffirmed his bullish outlook on bitcoin.
\n
In other words, Tesla and Musk may be among the biggest to wade into the crypto pool, but a growing cadre of investors are starting to view the volatile digital-ledger-backed cryptos as a bona fide asset.
\n
“Corporate adoption takes another leap forward with Tesla announcement,” writes Devin Ryan, analyst at JMP Securities in a Monday research note.
\n
The researcher, along with fellow analyst Brian McKenna, noted they “believe the building ‘network effect’ around bitcoin is moving the broader crypto asset class into the mainstream, and with many hundreds of billions of dollars of value in infrastructure supporting the asset class, we see the already substantial (and growing) vested interest in its success as bullish for the industry.”
\n
On Tuesday, bitcoin touched a record high around $48,000 before pulling back, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite indexes have seen relatively tepid trade on the day.
","source":"market_watch","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Since then, most companies operating in this fast-growing sector have declined substantially in 2022. That said, while it may appear to some investors that this is a sector worth considering as it may have bottomed out, plenty of names in this space still belong in the “EV stocks to sell” category.

Indeed, despite what many have called a bubble in the EV sector seemingly popping, scores of publicly-traded electric vehicle stocks continue to trade at extremely high valuations. Along with rich valuations, these vehicle electrification plays are also facing deteriorating fundamentals.

Growth is falling short of expectations, milestones aren’t being met, and the hope and hype that sent this sector to “the moon” during the pandemic era continues to dissipate.

Thus, investors shouldn’t get taken for a ride with these overpriced EV stocks to sell. With weakening fundamentals, there’s more room for most of these stocks to fall. Thus, I think investors want to hit the brakes with these EV companies right now.

CHPT

ChargePoint

$11.06

GOEV

Canoo

$1.35

HYZN

Hyzon Motors

$1.62

LCID

Lucid Group

$8.37

NIO

Nio

$12.98

QS

QuantumScape

$7.04

TSLA

Tesla

$180.49

ChargePoint (CHPT)

There was a lot of buzz surrounding EV charging solutions provider ChargePoint (NYSE:CHPT) in the lead up to its debut in the public markets via a special purpose acquisition company (or SPAC) merger in February 2021.

In fact, even before the SPAC merger closed, shares in CHPT’s “blank-check” predecessor, Switchback Energy, surged to levels that were nearly five-times higher than its original SPAC price ($10 per share). Since then, however, CHPT stock has all but fallen back to this initial SPAC price, changing hands today for around $11 per share.

Still, I wouldn’t assume that the $10 level is any sort of floor for ChargePoint. Although the company reported 93% revenue growth last quarter, it remains far away from reaching profitability any time soon. Expected to burn through half of its cash position over the next twelve months, CHPT stock may continue to slide lower, as unprofitable growth stocks continue to fall out of favor.

Canoo (GOEV)

Canoo (NASDAQ:GOEV) shares have taken a 83.5% haircut so far in 2022, but this early-stage maker of electric delivery vehicles has actually made major progress throughout this year. Namely, the company has received some large orders for its vehicles from high-profile customers, including the likes of Walmart (NYSE:WMT).

So, why has GOEV stock taken such a big dive since January? Blame it on shareholder dilution. As Louis Navellier discussed back in October, this cash-starved startup needs capital in order to fulfill these orders. The company has continued to raise this cash through the dilutive sale of new shares.

Based on its latest Securities and Exchange Commission (or SEC) filings, it’s clear that Canoo continues to lean on this financing source. Future equity raises will limit how much GOEV stock will be ultimately worth on a per-share basis (if it ever becomes profitable). Thus, for long-term investors, this is a dilution story that’s worth avoiding, as a further sharp decline in price may be in store.

Hyzon Motors (HYZN)

A rich valuation and poor fundamentals aren’t the only reason why Hyzon Motors (NASDAQ:HYZN) is among the top EV stocks to sell. The question of whether things are really on the up-and-up with this company is another big concern as well.

This year, HYZN stock was one of several stocks hit by scandal and controversy. Not only did Hyzon find itself the target of an SEC investigation, but the company itself stated that past financial statements “cannot be relied upon.” Additionally, despite releasing new figures, these more recently-released numbers aren’t exactly much to get excited about.

In the first quarter of 2022 (the last period in which HYZN has provided quarterly figures), the company reported a $26.8 million operating loss, on just $356,000 in revenue. With the situation possibly getting materially worse since then, going against the grain and buying HYZN stock today appears to be a move that will ultimately end in tears.

Lucid Group (LCID)

A year ago, Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID) appeared poised to eventually grab a large share of the premium EV market. Flash forward to today, and the company’s prospects have diminished considerably. Initially, due to production headwinds, Lucid announced some significantly reduced production targets.

More recently, the company slashed its targets due to quarterly results falling short of expectations, and a drop in reservations for its vehicles. Accordingly, while LCID stock has plunged from the $40 level to the single-digits following this year’s developments, an additional pullback may lie ahead.

In the coming quarters, if Lucid fails to start meeting/beating expectations, it’ll be difficult for the company to maintain its now-lowered, but still-lofty valuation. The stock continues to trade at a high price-to-sales ratio (nearly 20-times). Although possibly worth another look if the company ends up cratering to penny stock price levels (under $5 per share), for now, I think passing on LCID is the best move.

Nio (NIO)

Zooming over 30% higher in the past month, many investors may think Nio (NYSE:NIO) has once again become one of the EV stocks to buy. However, I don’t think it’s time to dive in. This China-based electric vehicle maker remains one of the top EV stocks to sell, as this latest rally could soon reverse course.

Sure, the big jump in Nio’s stock price over the last month has been driven by promising news. The company reported a record number of vehicle deliveries in November. China also appears keen on easing on its “Zero Covid” policy, which has hit both production and demand for Nio’s vehicles.

Even so, as one Seeking Alpha commentator recently argued, this big increase in November may be due to China’s EV tax incentives expiring this year. If this proves true, and sales growth sputters again starting in 2023, shares could return to sub-$10 per share prices.

QuantumScape (QS)

After its SPAC merger in late-2020, EV battery technology startup Quantumscape (NYSE:QS) skyrocketed to prices well over $100 per share. Presently, investors can buy this same stock at around $7 per share.

That said, those who think this means QS stock is now in oversold territory should think otherwise. Shares in this company, which is at work developing lithium solid state batteries (or SSBs) for electric vehicles, may keep dropping, as time is not on its side.

At least, that’s the view of Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas. In November, the analyst downgraded shares from “hold” to “sell,” and lowered his price target from $12 to $4 per share. This downgrade appears to be mostly due to the fact that QuantumScape’s timeline to commercialization is far too long. Years away from reaching its next commercialization hurdle, rising interest rates and high operating losses are likely to apply more pressure to the stock.

Tesla (TSLA)

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is still not only the most valuable EV stock by market cap, but also the most valuable automaker by market cap (for now). However, TSLA has fallen more than 50% from its all-time high, and could be at risk of falling further.

Globally, competition in the EV sector is heating up. Incumbent automakers and “Tesla killers” alike in the U.S. are moving quickly to grab their piece of the electric vehicle market. Tesla could also be facing big issues in China, where it is rumored to be pulling back on production.

Worse yet, with CEO Elon Musk preoccupied with his latest personal acquisition (Twitter), these factors could have even more of a negative impact than they would if Musk were fully focused on keeping this EV powerhouse at the top of the heap. Investors may want to follow the hedge fund community’s lead, and put TSLA stock in the EV stocks to sell bucket.

","source":"investorplace","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Since then, most companies operating in this fast-growing sector have declined substantially in 2022. That said, while it may appear to some investors that this is a sector worth considering as it may have bottomed out, plenty of names in this space still belong in the “EV stocks to sell” category.Indeed, despite what many have called a bubble in the EV sector seemingly popping, scores of publicly-traded electric vehicle stocks continue to trade at extremely high valuations. Along with rich valuations, these vehicle electrification plays are also facing deteriorating fundamentals.Growth is falling short of expectations, milestones aren’t being met, and the hope and hype that sent this sector to “the moon” during the pandemic era continues to dissipate. Thus, investors shouldn’t get taken for a ride with these overpriced EV stocks to sell. With weakening fundamentals, there’s more room for most of these stocks to fall. Thus, I think investors want to hit the brakes with these EV companies right now.CHPTChargePoint$11.06GOEVCanoo$1.35HYZNHyzon Motors$1.62LCIDLucid Group$8.37NIONio$12.98QSQuantumScape$7.04TSLATesla$180.49ChargePoint (CHPT)There was a lot of buzz surrounding EV charging solutions provider ChargePoint (NYSE:CHPT) in the lead up to its debut in the public markets via a special purpose acquisition company (or SPAC) merger in February 2021.In fact, even before the SPAC merger closed, shares in CHPT’s “blank-check” predecessor, Switchback Energy, surged to levels that were nearly five-times higher than its original SPAC price ($10 per share). Since then, however, CHPT stock has all but fallen back to this initial SPAC price, changing hands today for around $11 per share.Still, I wouldn’t assume that the $10 level is any sort of floor for ChargePoint. Although the company reported 93% revenue growth last quarter, it remains far away from reaching profitability any time soon. Expected to burn through half of its cash position over the next twelve months, CHPT stock may continue to slide lower, as unprofitable growth stocks continue to fall out of favor.Canoo (GOEV)Canoo (NASDAQ:GOEV) shares have taken a 83.5% haircut so far in 2022, but this early-stage maker of electric delivery vehicles has actually made major progress throughout this year. Namely, the company has received some large orders for its vehicles from high-profile customers, including the likes of Walmart (NYSE:WMT).So, why has GOEV stock taken such a big dive since January? Blame it on shareholder dilution. As Louis Navellier discussed back in October, this cash-starved startup needs capital in order to fulfill these orders. The company has continued to raise this cash through the dilutive sale of new shares.Based on its latest Securities and Exchange Commission (or SEC) filings, it’s clear that Canoo continues to lean on this financing source. Future equity raises will limit how much GOEV stock will be ultimately worth on a per-share basis (if it ever becomes profitable). Thus, for long-term investors, this is a dilution story that’s worth avoiding, as a further sharp decline in price may be in store.Hyzon Motors (HYZN)A rich valuation and poor fundamentals aren’t the only reason why Hyzon Motors (NASDAQ:HYZN) is among the top EV stocks to sell. With the situation possibly getting materially worse since then, going against the grain and buying HYZN stock today appears to be a move that will ultimately end in tears.Lucid Group (LCID)A year ago, Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID) appeared poised to eventually grab a large share of the premium EV market. Flash forward to today, and the company’s prospects have diminished considerably. Initially, due to production headwinds, Lucid announced some significantly reduced production targets.More recently, the company slashed its targets due to quarterly results falling short of expectations, and a drop in reservations for its vehicles. Although possibly worth another look if the company ends up cratering to penny stock price levels (under $5 per share), for now, I think passing on LCID is the best move.Nio (NIO)Zooming over 30% higher in the past month, many investors may think Nio (NYSE:NIO) has once again become one of the EV stocks to buy. However, I don’t think it’s time to dive in. This China-based electric vehicle maker remains one of the top EV stocks to sell, as this latest rally could soon reverse course.Sure, the big jump in Nio’s stock price over the last month has been driven by promising news. The company reported a record number of vehicle deliveries in November. China also appears keen on easing on its “Zero Covid” policy, which has hit both production and demand for Nio’s vehicles.Even so, as one Seeking Alpha commentator recently argued, this big increase in November may be due to China’s EV tax incentives expiring this year. If this proves true, and sales growth sputters again starting in 2023, shares could return to sub-$10 per share prices.QuantumScape (QS)After its SPAC merger in late-2020, EV battery technology startup Quantumscape (NYSE:QS) skyrocketed to prices well over $100 per share. Presently, investors can buy this same stock at around $7 per share. That said, those who think this means QS stock is now in oversold territory should think otherwise. Shares in this company, which is at work developing lithium solid state batteries (or SSBs) for electric vehicles, may keep dropping, as time is not on its side.At least, that’s the view of Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas. In November, the analyst downgraded shares from “hold” to “sell,” and lowered his price target from $12 to $4 per share. This downgrade appears to be mostly due to the fact that QuantumScape’s timeline to commercialization is far too long. Years away from reaching its next commercialization hurdle, rising interest rates and high operating losses are likely to apply more pressure to the stock.Tesla (TSLA)Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is still not only the most valuable EV stock by market cap, but also the most valuable automaker by market cap (for now). However, TSLA has fallen more than 50% from its all-time high, and could be at risk of falling further.Globally, competition in the EV sector is heating up. Tesla could also be facing big issues in China, where it is rumored to be pulling back on production.Worse yet, with CEO Elon Musk preoccupied with his latest personal acquisition (Twitter), these factors could have even more of a negative impact than they would if Musk were fully focused on keeping this EV powerhouse at the top of the heap. Fueled by increasing demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs) used for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, Nvidia stock has soared roughly 90% so far in 2023, easily eclipsing the 8% gains of the S&P 500 during the same period. But at least one analyst thinks this could be just the beginning.

HSBC analyst Frank Lee issued a rare double upgrade on Nvidia stock to buy from reduce (which is similar to a sell rating), while more than doubling his 12-month price target to $355, up from $175. That target represents potential gains for investors of roughly 30% compared to Monday's closing price.

Is Nvidia stock really that compelling, particularly in light of its recent gains? Let's take a look to see why the analyst is so bullish on the stock and whether or not it's still worth buying shares now.

Nvidia's H100 Hopper AI chip. Image source: Nvidia.

The path to $355

In justifying his enthusiasm, Lee cited the growing opportunity in AI. Since OpenAI introduced ChatGPT in late November, the public has been mesmerized by advances in generative AI, which made the conversational chatbot the belle of the ball. Further fueling the fervor was an announcement that Microsoft, which had already invested $3 billion in OpenAI, was extending its partnership with a further investment of $10 billion, while also integrating ChatGPT into its Bing search engine.

The next phase of AI development could represent a massive opportunity. In fact, Cathie Wood's Ark Investment Management has done some calculations and estimates that AI software could represent a $14 trillion revenue opportunity by 2030.

So what does this have to do with Nvidia? Its GPUs are the industry standard for AI. It takes a great deal of computational horsepower to run the multitude of mathematical calculations necessary to train and operate these AI systems, and Nvidia semiconductors are best-in-class.

Lee admitted to being “shocked” by Nvidia’s unparalleled pricing power in the AI chip market and argued that that opportunity makes up for his previous concerns about Nvidia’s slowing demand for data center chips and rising inventories. Furthermore, Lee issued a rare mea culpa, admitting that he was initially "too cautious" on Nvidia, and now says that the company's AI opportunity is not fully priced into the shares.

He may be on to something. Nvidia's management estimates its total addressable market at roughly $1 trillion. While investors generally take those forecasts with a grain of salt, it helps to illustrate why Wall Street is increasingly optimistic about Nvidia's prospects.

It's not just Lee that's bullish. Over the past month, Nvidia has been on the receiving end of 14 price target increases and two upgrades as Wall Street becomes increasingly more bullish on the company's future prospects. In fact, every one of those analysts cited the growing opportunity afforded by AI as the primary reason for their increasing optimism.

Is Nvidia stock a buy?

The long-term opportunity and increasing adoption of AI will certainly act as a catalyst to fuel Nvidia's future growth. But is the stock a buy? Nvidia has never been cheap, and the stock is currently selling for 18 times next year's sales, when a reasonable price-to-sales ratio is between 1 and 2.

Furthermore, the company is currently dealing with macroeconomic headwinds that could get worse over the short term, particularly if the economy slips into a recession. The quick onset of the downturn and the rapid sales decline of Nvidia's gaming chips have persisted for several months. In its 2023 fourth quarter (which ended Jan. 29), revenue in the company's gaming segment was down 46% year over year, its third consecutive quarter of sales declines.

The news isn't all bad. CEO Jensen Huang suggested the worst might be over. "Gaming is recovering from the post-pandemic downturn, with gamers enthusiastically embracing the new Ada architecture GPUs with AI neural rendering," he said in the company's earnings press release in February. He went on to extoll the opportunity presented by AI: "AI is at an inflection point, setting up for broad adoption reaching into every industry," Huang said. "From start-ups to major enterprises, we are seeing accelerated interest in the versatility and capabilities of generative AI."

While the stock certainly isn't the screaming buy it was just a few months ago, Nvidia's future remains bright. Patient investors might want to wait for an opportunity to buy the dip. Those that buy now will need to do so with the intention of holding for three to five years, as Nvidia will need time to live up to its currently lofty valuation.

Nvidia has been a stellar performer over the past five years, gaining 371%. Given the tailwinds provided by AI, as well as the company's existing gaming and data center businesses, I don't think it's a matter of if Nvidia stock hits $355 per share, but when. I suspect investors won't have to wait very long.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Fueled by increasing demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs) used for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, Nvidia stock has soared roughly 90% so far in 2023, easily eclipsing the 8% gains of the S&P 500 during the same period. But at least one analyst thinks this could be just the beginning.HSBC analyst Frank Lee issued a rare double upgrade on Nvidia stock to buy from reduce (which is similar to a sell rating), while more than doubling his 12-month price target to $355, up from $175. That target represents potential gains for investors of roughly 30% compared to Monday's closing price. Is Nvidia stock really that compelling, particularly in light of its recent gains? Let's take a look to see why the analyst is so bullish on the stock and whether or not it's still worth buying shares now.Nvidia's H100 Hopper AI chip. Image source: Nvidia. The path to $355In justifying his enthusiasm, Lee cited the growing opportunity in AI. Furthermore, Lee issued a rare mea culpa, admitting that he was initially \"too cautious\" on Nvidia, and now says that the company's AI opportunity is not fully priced into the shares. Is Nvidia stock a buy?The long-term opportunity and increasing adoption of AI will certainly act as a catalyst to fuel Nvidia's future growth. But is the stock a buy? Nvidia has never been cheap, and the stock is currently selling for 18 times next year's sales, when a reasonable price-to-sales ratio is between 1 and 2.Furthermore, the company is currently dealing with macroeconomic headwinds that could get worse over the short term, particularly if the economy slips into a recession. \"Gaming is recovering from the post-pandemic downturn, with gamers enthusiastically embracing the new Ada architecture GPUs with AI neural rendering,\" he said in the company's earnings press release in February. He went on to extoll the opportunity presented by AI: \"AI is at an inflection point, setting up for broad adoption reaching into every industry,\" Huang said. \"From start-ups to major enterprises, we are seeing accelerated interest in the versatility and capabilities of generative AI.\"While the stock certainly isn't the screaming buy it was just a few months ago, Nvidia's future remains bright. Patient investors might want to wait for an opportunity to buy the dip. Those that buy now will need to do so with the intention of holding for three to five years, as Nvidia will need time to live up to its currently lofty valuation.Nvidia has been a stellar performer over the past five years, gaining 371%. Given the tailwinds provided by AI, as well as the company's existing gaming and data center businesses, I don't think it's a matter of if Nvidia stock hits $355 per share, but when. I suspect investors won't have to wait very long.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":146,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9062499190,"gmtCreate":1652094228910,"gmtModify":1676535027481,"author":{"id":"3554184728100240","authorId":"3554184728100240","name":"T90","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/64a844af127318de6f06837e04004a86","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3554184728100240","authorIdStr":"3554184728100240"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Really??? increasing acceptability of the digital asset.

\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That was the idea behind cryptos being written into code back in 2009 by a person or persons known as Satoshi Nakamoto.\nThose rebellious notions align somewhat with Musk’s own agenda of disruption. Tesla is making electric-powered vehicles in a world that has thus far been dominated by fossil-fuel driven cars.\nMoreover, Tesla’s direct-to-customer sales model also is viewed as trendsetting, since many companies sell their cars through unaffiliated dealerships.\nBitcoin’s image as a decentralized asset, not controlled by any one body, also fits with Tesla’s image and that of its leader Musk.\n\nThe future of $\nTesla’s $1.5 billion investment in bitcoin could also be a simple hedge against the hegemony of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency since World War Two.\nBitcoin, or something like it, represents the future of payment systems to many supporters, even if it isn’t currently an effective means of exchange due to its current volatility.\n“Yesterday’s move by Tesla to invest in bitcoin and start accepting it as payment for its own products really moved the needle,” wrote Simon Peters, cryptoasset analyst at multiasset investment platform eToro, in emailed comments.\nThe eToro analyst said that there are unconfirmed talks about technology behemoths Apple Inc. and Google-parent Alphabet Inc.,linking it to their own payment systems.\nMusk is viewed as an innovator tied to electric vehicles, batteries and space exploration via SpaceX, but one of his early ventures was in payments.\nWriting on the wall\nThe Wall Street Journal notes that, the Tesla CEO invested most of the $22 million he earned from the sale of an internet business into a new startup, X.com, which became PayPal Holdings about 20 years ago.\nPayPal currently is among the vanguard of bitcoin revolution. PayPal back in November opened up its cryptocurrency platform to all U.S. customers after conducting a more narrow rollout.\nMoreover, several high-profile Wall Street investors, including Stanley Druckenmiller and Paul Tudor Jones, have embraced bitcoin. Famed investor Bill Miller, founder of Miller Value Partners, in a letter to clients earlier this month published on the firm’s website, reaffirmed his bullish outlook on bitcoin.\nIn other words, Tesla and Musk may be among the biggest to wade into the crypto pool, but a growing cadre of investors are starting to view the volatile digital-ledger-backed cryptos as a bona fide asset.\n“Corporate adoption takes another leap forward with Tesla announcement,” writes Devin Ryan, analyst at JMP Securities in a Monday research note.\nThe researcher, along with fellow analyst Brian McKenna, noted they “believe the building ‘network effect’ around bitcoin is moving the broader crypto asset class into the mainstream, and with many hundreds of billions of dollars of value in infrastructure supporting the asset class, we see the already substantial (and growing) vested interest in its success as bullish for the industry.”\nOn Tuesday, bitcoin touched a record high around $48,000 before pulling back, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite indexes have seen relatively tepid trade on the day.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":450,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":312569740,"gmtCreate":1612168279080,"gmtModify":1704867620309,"author":{"id":"3554184728100240","authorId":"3554184728100240","name":"T90","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/64a844af127318de6f06837e04004a86","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3554184728100240","authorIdStr":"3554184728100240"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Why BB?
