ChatGPT could only “see” news through September 2021, making its recent performance more about luck than skill. The same list of stocks badly underperformed in 2022. The artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot also lacked any notion of risk management. An investor following AI’s recommendations since February would have seen their margin accounts blow up when picks like <strong>AMC Entertainment</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>AMC</u></strong>) jumped on a short squeeze.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">GPT-3.5 was also limited to picking popular stocks on the internet. Not one contrarian choice showed up in the entire list.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">So, when ChatGPT’s “GPT-4” upgrade was released last month, I was excited to try again.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">And it didn’t disappoint.</p><h2 style=\"text-align: start;\">Can AI Pick Stocks? GPT-4 Says Yes.</h2><p style=\"text-align: start;\">The introduction of GPT-4 and competing services like <strong>Alphabet’s</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>GOOG</u></strong>, NASDAQ: <strong><u>GOOGL</u></strong>) Google Bard adds three essential elements to AI investing.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">First, they’re far happier to give answers. This time, no fighting, negotiations or prompt engineering was required to coax the AI to give stock suggestions. I assume the search race between <strong>Microsoft</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>MSFT</u></strong>) and Google has caused every player to lower their guard on that front.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Second, the chatbots can now “see” current news. Recent upgrades now allow GPT-4 to browse the internet, making its picks far more timely than before.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Finally, the newest version of ChatGPT seems happier to defer to human insight when it can’t figure things out, reducing the amount of hallucinations.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Still, GPT-4 has some shortcomings.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Because let’s take a look at what it said…</p><h2 style=\"text-align: start;\">The 13 Favorite Stock Picks of ChatGPT</h2><p style=\"text-align: start;\">On the tech side, ChatGPT was quick to offer several promising high-growth companies:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Amazon</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>AMZN</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>ASML Holding NV</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>ASML</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Intuitive Surgical</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>ISRG</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Meta Platforms</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>META</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Palo Alto Networks</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>PANW</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>ServiceNow</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>NOW</u></strong>)</p></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: start;\">On the one hand, these companies are actually quite compelling. Names like Amazon and Meta trade for fractions of their former values and the latter is seeing a resurgence in digital ad spending. The most recent version of ChatGPT also avoided only picking popular mega-cap companies; ASML and ServiceNow are smaller firms with excellent growth rates. If an intern came to me with this list, I’d try to negotiate a full-time deal.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">On the other hand, though, GPT-4 had no idea why it was picking these stocks. When asked to elaborate, it could only give the same canned responses:</p><ul><li><p>Amazon: a “massive and diversified customer base.”</p></li><li><p>Meta: a “massive and engaged user base.”</p></li><li><p>Palo Alto Networks: a “large and loyal customer base.”</p></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: start;\">And so on.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">In other words, GPT-4 missed every nuance of <em>why</em> it did anything. It’s the same problem that all large language models (LLMs) seem to have — they’re only designed to predict text, not understand it.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">That meant ChatGPT had no idea of fundamental analysis or using a proven strategy. It was only a rehash of what others had already said before. Most alarmingly, the AI still failed to understand valuations. Most online stock analysis skips past their discounted cash flow (DCF) models, which means GPT-4 will always do the same.</p><h2 style=\"text-align: start;\">More Stock Picks From ChatGPT</h2><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Then there were ChatGPT’s other choices.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">In energy:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Devon Energy</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>DVN</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Duke Energy</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>DUK</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Exxon Mobil</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>XOM</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>UGI </strong>(NYSE: <strong><u>UGI</u></strong>)</p></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: start;\">And in miscellaneous industries:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Axon Enterprise</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>AXON</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>H&amp;R Block</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>HRB</u></strong>)</p></li><li><p><strong>Meritage Homes</strong> (NYSE: <strong><u>MTH</u></strong>)</p></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Again, these are relatively strong picks. For energy stocks, Devon Energy and Exxon are low-cost hydrocarbon producers, giving them a significant advantage over their higher-cost peers. Historically, these firms tend to outlast competitors, leading to substantial long-term outperformance.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">In non-energy stocks, H&amp;R Block is also a solid enterprise priced at historical valuations; I estimate the firm has a 30% upside over the next three years. And Meritage Homes is an above-average homebuilder trading at below-average prices.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">But the same issues of <em>insight</em> persist. The AI chatbot gave “strong financial performance” as the key reason for buying Devon, Exxon and Meritage Homes. Only Duke Energy garnered a different response, with ChatGPT calling its financial performance “stable” instead of “strong.”</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Not exactly a compelling reason to invest.</p><h2 style=\"text-align: start;\">Can You Us AI to Pick Stocks?</h2><p style=\"text-align: start;\">The financial industry is no stranger to using machine learning to trade stocks. High-frequency traders profit from minor pricing differences across exchanges. Their algorithms also help predict moves in the milliseconds following specific trades.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Meanwhile, quantitative traders use every imaginable shred of information in their high-powered models. Some use investor sentiment on social media, while others use weather data to help predict crop outputs. Even the weather at the <strong>New York Stock Exchange</strong> has some predictive ability on stocks.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">ChatGPT is an extension of this strategy. Rather than rely on fundamental data or complex models, the AI chatbot mines the internet for insights into what others are writing about.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">Usually, it’s a surprisingly powerful way to invest. Companies with high share prices can raise cheaper capital, making it easier to fund projects. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that benefited startups like <strong>Tesla</strong> (NASDAQ: <strong><u>TSLA</u></strong>) and Amazon.</p><p style=\"text-align: start;\">But it’s still only a regurgitation of the internet. As compelling as ChatGPT might sound on paper, it’s only as insightful as the web articles it’s hoovering up. Names like Amazon and Meta trade for fractions of their former values and the latter is seeing a resurgence in digital ad spending. The most recent version of ChatGPT also avoided only picking popular mega-cap companies; ASML and ServiceNow are smaller firms with excellent growth rates. If an intern came to me with this list, I’d try to negotiate a full-time deal.On the other hand, though, GPT-4 had no idea why it was picking these stocks. When asked to elaborate, it could only give the same canned responses:Amazon: a “massive and diversified customer base.”Meta: a “massive and engaged user base.”Palo Alto Networks: a “large and loyal customer base.”And so on.In other words, GPT-4 missed every nuance of why it did anything. Historically, these firms tend to outlast competitors, leading to substantial long-term outperformance.In non-energy stocks, H&R Block is also a solid enterprise priced at historical valuations; I estimate the firm has a 30% upside over the next three years. And Meritage Homes is an above-average homebuilder trading at below-average prices.But the same issues of insight persist. The AI chatbot gave “strong financial performance” as the key reason for buying Devon, Exxon and Meritage Homes. Some use investor sentiment on social media, while others use weather data to help predict crop outputs. Even the weather at the New York Stock Exchange has some predictive ability on stocks.ChatGPT is an extension of this strategy. Rather than rely on fundamental data or complex models, the AI chatbot mines the internet for insights into what others are writing about.Usually, it’s a surprisingly powerful way to invest. Companies with high share prices can raise cheaper capital, making it easier to fund projects. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that benefited startups like Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and Amazon.But it’s still only a regurgitation of the internet. As compelling as ChatGPT might sound on paper, it’s only as insightful as the web articles it’s hoovering up. One reason why is NVIDIA's upcoming four-for-<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> stock split. While stock splits don't impact a company's valuation directly, they can attract greater numbers of small investors.</p>\n<p>However, there are plenty of even better reasons to like NVIDIA that have nothing to do with its stock split. The most obvious one is the company's gaming business.</p>\n<p>Gaming remains NVIDIA's biggest moneymaker, generating $2.8 billion of the company's total revenue of nearly $5.7 billion in the first quarter of 2021. And business is booming. NVIDIA's gaming revenue more than doubled year over year.</p>\n<p>It isn't just that gaming is increasing in popularity (although that is the case). NVIDIA benefits from regular hardware upgrade cycles. New games require even more processing power, which drives demand for the more powerful graphics processing units (GPUs).</p>\n<p>I especially like that NVIDIA is leveraging its gaming expertise to target new markets. For example, the company recently unveiled Omniverse Enterprise, a platform where design teams can build 3D virtual simulations and collaborate in real-time. In effect, NVIDIA is turning work into play (or vice versa, depending on how you look at it).</p>\n<p>NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress said in the company's Q1 conference call, \"As the world becomes more digital, virtual and collaborative, we see a significant revenue opportunity for Omniverse.\" I think that Kress's optimism is well-founded.</p>\n<p>Don't overlook NVIDIA's potential in the data center market, though. The company posted data center revenue of more than $2 billion in Q1, up 79% year over year. NVIDIA should enjoy sustained growth as more applications include artificial intelligence (AI).</p>\n<p>Assuming NVIDIA's pending acquisition of Arm passes regulatory hurdles, the company should further cement its leadership position in AI. In particular, the Arm deal would boost NVIDIA's presence in the fast-growing Internet of Things market with chips for mobile devices.</p>\n<p>Sure, an overall cryptocurrency crash could cause NVIDIA's shares to fall due to the popularity of the company's GPUs with crypto miners. It's happened before. However, the company has taken steps to segment its gaming business from crypto. I think that any pullback would only be temporary. NVIDIA has too many other strong growth drivers.</p>\n<h2>Moderna</h2>\n<p>Most companies can't honestly say that they've helped change the world.&nbsp;<b>Moderna</b> (NASDAQ:MRNA) can.</p>\n<p>The biotech's COVID-19 vaccine was second only to the vaccine developed by <b>Pfizer</b>&nbsp;and <b>BioNTech</b> to win U.S. Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Moderna reported $1.9 billion in sales for the vaccine in Q1, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.</p>\n<p>Based on supply agreements in place as of early May, Moderna projected that its COVID-19 vaccine would rake in sales this year of $19.2 billion. However, the company has secured additional deals since then.</p>\n<p>In just the past two weeks, Moderna has landed two new huge supply agreements. The U.S. government is buying 200 million additional doses of Moderna's COVID19 vaccine. The European Commission agreed to purchase another 150 million doses.</p>\n<p>But does Moderna's market cap of close to $90 billion already price all of this growth in? To some extent, yes. However, shares still are trading at only around 10.5 times expected earnings. That's an attractive valuation, especially for a biotech stock.</p>\n<p>The big question for Moderna is how strong the recurring revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine will be. While the sales levels of 2021 and 2022 might not be sustainable over the long run, annual vaccinations could be likely (especially with emerging coronavirus variants). I expect Moderna will be able to count on significant COVID-19 vaccine sales for years to come.</p>\n<p>Then there's the pipeline. Moderna plans to advance its cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine into late-stage testing this year. It could easily be a megablockbuster if approved. The company has a dozen other programs in clinical testing.</p>\n<p>Moderna hopes to use its newfound riches to dramatically boost its pipeline in the near future. CEO Stephane Bancel has stated that he'd like to have up to 50 clinical programs.</p>\n<p>All of Moderna's current and planned pipeline programs are based on its messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. The company has maintained for a long time that if its mRNA approach worked for one disease, it would work for many diseases. While BABA didn't get the memo about businesses facing challenges amidst the pandemic, the market must not have read BABA's earnings report or crunched the numbers.</p>\n<p>There are two Chinese companies I am bullish on, and BABA is my biggest conviction for appreciation. BABA smashed through the $300 share price level at the end of October 2020, but shareholders have been left confused and disappointed since then. It looked like BABA would turn the corner after a horrible end to 2020 as shares appreciated from $222.36 from the close of 2020 to $270.83 in the middle of February 2021. Still, the markets had other plans, and all shares of BABA have done is disappoint shareholders. If you missed the BABA train, it's time to grab your tickets and climb aboard, and if you purchased BABA during its run to $300 or early 2021 rebound, it might be time to add to your holdings. The $100 billion revenue mark is a prestigious club that companies such as&nbsp;Facebook (FB),PepsiCo (PEP),Procter &amp; Gamble (PG),Target (TGT), and&nbsp;Johnson &amp; Johnson (JNJ)&nbsp;are not part of. BABA, on the other hand, witnessed its revenue increase by 52.11% and smash through $100 billion as they generated $109.47 billion in their recent fiscal year. For the year ending March 2019, BABA's revenue increased by $16.25 billion (40.74%) to $56.15 billion, then for the March 2020 fiscal year, revenue increased another $15.82 billion (28.17%) to $71.97 billion. BABA is in the same boat as Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOG)(GOOGL), FB, and Amazon (AMZN) as they watched the pandemic push more people to go digital which accelerated their businesses. For BABA, the forced transition to digital helped them achieve $37.5 billion (52.11%) in additional revenue as they finished their March 2021 fiscal year with $109.47 billion in revenue.</p>\n<p>Since 2013 BABA has not had a year where their annual revenue increase didn't exceed 25% Year over Year (YoY). When you think about that as a growth rate, it's remarkable for a company of BABA's size as this isn't a company chasing its first billion-dollar revenue year. Over the past 5 fiscal years, BABA's annual revenue has increased by $93.8 billion (408.08%) at an average annual rate of 48.25%. Smaller companies considered growth companies would be jealous of these rates, while many large caps are probably envious.</p>\n<p>BABA isn't a one-trick pony that can only generate tens of billions in revenue. BABA can convert right down to the bottom line. Each year BABA has increased its YoY gross profit by a minimum of 10% since 2013. In 2016 BABA generated $10.35 billion in gross profit and, over the next 5 fiscal years, increased its annual gross profit by $34.84 billion (336.68%). BABA has also never fallen below a 40% gross profit margin, Warren Buffett's magic number, as he indicates in<i>Warren Buffett and the Interpretation of Financial Statements. On page 34 of the Kindle edition,it says:</i></p>\n<blockquote>\n As a very general rule (and there are exceptions): Companies with gross profit margins of 40% or better tend to be companies with some sort of durable competitive advantage. BABA's numbers indicate they have a sufficient moat around their business that is hard to penetrate. With close to a decade of generating over 40% in gross profit margins, investors can expect that BABA's moat will protect its business operations for years to come.</p>\n<p>Moving to the bottom line BABA does a great job at generating profits. In their most recent fiscal year, BABA generated $22.98 billion in net income, converting more than 1/5th (20.99%) of their revenue to pure profits. Since 2013 BABA has only had 1 year where net income decreases YoY. With that track record, many options open up for BABA in the future as their cash stockpile continues to increase.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/41a5e036f023fa4ced7666e06aa1de6b\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"444\"><span>(Source: Alibaba)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba will continue to experience tailwinds as China's population and economy expands</b></p>\n<p>Alibaba&nbsp;achieved one billion annual active consumers globally in the fiscal year that ended in March 2021. BABA has 891 million consumers across China's retail marketplace, local consumer services and digital media and entertainment platforms, and approximately 240 million consumers outside China. BABA's annual active consumers in the China retail marketplaces were 811 million as it grew by 85 million YoY. BABA will focus on developing a digital commerce infrastructure that offers an upgraded consumer experience by seamlessly integrating online and offline. Through BABA's infrastructure, countless retailers have digitally transformed their businesses and created multiple retail formats that have enabled new consumption experiences by leveraging consumer insights and technology. BABA's ecosystem, supply chain, and diversified fulfillment services have facilitated an immense digital transformation. By investing in its infrastructure, BABA's customers can now leverage a full range of high-frequency fulfillment services that include on-demand delivery, same-or-next day delivery, and next-day pick-up services for a full range of consumable and physical products.</p>\n<p>BABA will continue to be one of the cornerstones that supports growth within China's economy, which is benefiting from the acceleration of digitalization in all aspects of life and work. China is projected to be the world's largest economy by 2028. The per-capita income in China is expected to grow by roughly 50% from 2020 to 2025.China's average economic growth&nbsp;has been projected to increase at a rate of 5.7% from 2021 to 2025, then slow to 4.5% from 2026 to 2030. As a result,China&nbsp;is on track to join the top 1/3rd of nations and overtake 56 countries in the per capita income rankings by 2025. By the end of 2022, McKinsey&nbsp;predicts&nbsp;that the middle class could expand to 550 million people which is larger than the entire U.S population.</p>\n<p>If the projections for China are correct, this should mean a windfall of cash lining BABA's coffers. It's a simple recipe; when people make more money, they tend to spend more money to enhance their lives and increase their standard of living. As BABA is a dominant force in China's retail sector, they stand to benefit from a growing economy and a larger middle class. At the end of next year, if China has anywhere close to 550 million individuals in the middle class, I believe BABA's revenue and profits will increase significantly. This trend can provide tailwinds throughout the decade for BABA, and eventually, the market will reward shareholders based on BABA's value proposition.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bbde4a092d19118a2d16daabf5c027d7\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"463\"><span>(Source: Blomberg)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba has tremendous growth prospects in Cloud as China continues its digitization</b></p>\n<p>Cloud computing has been red hot in the U.S. as the transition from on-prem to cloud has increased the technological capabilities for many organizations. As digitization progresses across the business landscape, cloud providers continue to increase revenue generated from their cloud segments within their overall revenue mix. For example, AWS, the cloud computing division from&nbsp;AMZN, generated $45.37 billion in 2020. Cloud continues to be an exciting sector because the digital transformation is far from being over. Hence, the prospects of new customers are enormous while reoccurring revenue is generated after the transition occurs.</p>\n<p>In China, cloud infrastructure services are still in the early innings as the entire spend was around $15 billion in 2020. In Q1 of 2021, cloud infrastructure services in&nbsp;China&nbsp;grew by 55% YoY as it reached $6 billion. China was the 2nd largest market behind the U.S, accounting for 14% of global investment, up from 12% in Q1 of 2020. With cloud spending and digitization in China increasing, this serves as a major runway for growth in Alibaba Cloud.</p>\n<p>As China's economy expands, businesses will need to become more efficient to support both operations and customer demands. Chinese companies will need to implement infrastructure that can support a digital age of the workforce while supporting cloud services used by consumers for consumption. If China passes the U.S. as the world's largest economy in the second half of this decade, the amount of growth needed in cloud services will be immense. BABA is already the leader in cloud infrastructure services in China as their 39.8% market share accounted for $2.39 billion of the $6 billion spent in Q1 2021. Over the previous 6 quarters, cloud infrastructure spending has increased by roughly $2.3 billion (76.67%) in China. Based on cloud's current trajectory, quarterly revenue is on track to double over the next 2 years, putting Q1 2023 revenue at $10.6 billion. If BABA has a 35% market share, their Q1 2023 would be $3.71 billion, placing their 2023 revenue for cloud at $14.84 billion without factoring in any growth in 2023. From a cloud aspect, China's future spending is very exciting, and BABA will be one of the major benefactors.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1759b81ce463d503a165d901e2e50d7c\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"728\"><span>(Source: Canalys)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba has stellar financial metrics and is undervalued compared to the U.S. tech conglomerates</b></p>\n<p>For this comparison, I am going to use AMZN and GOOGL as they have been establishing their dominance in the U.S. for more than a decade. First, here are the raw numbers for AMZN, BABA, and GOOGL:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>AMZN</li>\n <li>BABA</li>\n <li>GOOGL</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The market currently places a multiple of 17.03x on AMZN's equity compared to its market cap, while its revenue multiple is 4.2x. GOOGL has a multiple of 7.17x on its equity and 8.39x on its revenue compared to market cap. AMZN and GOOGL's market caps exceed $1.5 trillion, while BABA's sits at $575.57 billion. The market is placing a 3.5x multiple on BABA's equity and 5.26x on its revenue compared to the market cap. Thus, the market is severely discounting BABA's equity and revenue generation. BABA's equity is worth 28.58% of its market cap, while AMZN's equity is equivalent to 5.87%, and GOOGL's is 13.94% of its market cap. The current discount placed on BABA's equity could create an additional tailwind for shareholders in the future.</p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>It's hard to dismiss the growth opportunities some companies in China are presenting, especially after the recent decline in share prices. However, I believe shares of BABA are currently undervalued based on their current financial metrics and growth rates. China's economy and the amount of capital allocated to cloud service infrastructure are expected to grow substantially over the years. These will create powerful tailwinds for BABA throughout this decade. As a result, I think shareholders have been allowed to establish a BABA or dollar cost average position at a discounted price. As digitization progresses across the business landscape, cloud providers continue to increase revenue generated from their cloud segments within their overall revenue mix. For example, AWS, the cloud computing division from AMZN, generated $45.37 billion in 2020. Cloud continues to be an exciting sector because the digital transformation is far from being over. Hence, the prospects of new customers are enormous while reoccurring revenue is generated after the transition occurs.\nIn China, cloud infrastructure services are still in the early innings as the entire spend was around $15 billion in 2020. In Q1 of 2021, cloud infrastructure services in China grew by 55% YoY as it reached $6 billion. China was the 2nd largest market behind the U.S, accounting for 14% of global investment, up from 12% in Q1 of 2020. With cloud spending and digitization in China increasing, this serves as a major runway for growth in Alibaba Cloud.\nAs China's economy expands, businesses will need to become more efficient to support both operations and customer demands. Chinese companies will need to implement infrastructure that can support a digital age of the workforce while supporting cloud services used by consumers for consumption. If China passes the U.S. as the world's largest economy in the second half of this decade, the amount of growth needed in cloud services will be immense. BABA is already the leader in cloud infrastructure services in China as their 39.8% market share accounted for $2.39 billion of the $6 billion spent in Q1 2021. Over the previous 6 quarters, cloud infrastructure spending has increased by roughly $2.3 billion (76.67%) in China. Based on cloud's current trajectory, quarterly revenue is on track to double over the next 2 years, putting Q1 2023 revenue at $10.6 billion. GOOGL has a multiple of 7.17x on its equity and 8.39x on its revenue compared to market cap. AMZN and GOOGL's market caps exceed $1.5 trillion, while BABA's sits at $575.57 billion. The market is placing a 3.5x multiple on BABA's equity and 5.26x on its revenue compared to the market cap. Thus, the market is severely discounting BABA's equity and revenue generation. BABA's equity is worth 28.58% of its market cap, while AMZN's equity is equivalent to 5.87%, and GOOGL's is 13.94% of its market cap. The current discount placed on BABA's equity could create an additional tailwind for shareholders in the future.\nConclusion\nIt's hard to dismiss the growth opportunities some companies in China are presenting, especially after the recent decline in share prices. However, I believe shares of BABA are currently undervalued based on their current financial metrics and growth rates. No matter how well or poorly the U.S. economy and stock market perform, people will always get sick and require prescription drugs, medical devices, and healthcare services. This creates a minimum level of demand for J&amp;J&#39;s products in any environment.</p><p>What&#39;s more, Johnson &amp; Johnson is one of only two publicly traded companies that&#39;s been given the highly coveted AAA credit rating from Standard &amp; Poor&#39;s (S&amp;P). Bestowing J&amp;J with its highest credit rating -- one notch higher than the AA credit rating given to the U.S. federal government -- implies that S&amp;P has the utmost confidence the company can service and repay its outstanding debt. This means even less chance that Johnson &amp; Johnson&#39;s share price will swing wildly if a recession materializes and/or if interest rates soar.</p><p>Johnson &amp; Johnson&#39;s operating segments provide another reason to be quite optimistic about its future. For instance, pharmaceuticals provide the bulk of J&amp;J&#39;s growth potential and operating margins. However, brand-name drugs have a finite span of sales exclusivity. To counter this, J&amp;J can lean on its medical-device segment, which is perfectly positioned to benefit from an aging boomer population domestically, and improving access to medical care and insurance in overseas markets. Even the company&#39;s soon-to-be spun-off consumer health segment has played a key role. Despite growing slowly, consumer health products offer strong pricing power and highly predictable cash flow.</p><p>If you need one more reason to trust J&amp;J, consider this: The company increased its base annual dividend for a 60th consecutive year in April 2022.  And if not for the COVID-19 pandemic, J&amp;J&#39;s streak of increasing its annual adjusted operating earnings would likely have been nearing 40 years. It&#39;s as rock-solid as they come among healthcare stocks.</p><h2>Bank of America</h2><p>A second Warren Buffett stock that&#39;s begging to be bought by opportunistic investors in June is money-center behemoth <b>Bank of America</b>.</p><p>The prevailing concern for bank stocks is the growing likelihood that the U.S. will dip into recession. After all, gross domestic product surprisingly retraced in the first quarter. When recessions strike, it&#39;s not uncommon for banks to see their loan delinquency rates and charge-offs rise, which results in more money being set aside to cover losses. The end result being that earnings per share declines.</p><p>However, there are two sides to economic cycles. Even though recessions are inevitable, they often last just a couple of months to a few quarters. By comparison, economic expansions are measured in years, and have even gone on for more than a decade. While recessions can be challenging, BofA spends a disproportionately longer amount of time benefiting from loan and deposit growth in an expanding U.S. and global economy. In other words, patience tends to pay off handsomely with big-bank stocks.</p><p>What makes Bank of America a particularly intriguing buy right now is the company&#39;s interest rate sensitivity. With the Federal Reserve altering its stance on monetary policy and aiming to rapidly increase interest rates to tame inflation, no large bank is set to benefit more than BofA. According to a recent company presentation, a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve is expected to translate into an estimated $5.4 billion in added net interest income over 12 months.  Bank of America doesn&#39;t have to do any extra work to make more money on its variable-rate outstanding loans.</p><p>The company&#39;s digitization initiatives are paying dividends as well. An additional 5 million BofA customers (42 million in total) are actively banking online or via mobile app than were doing so three years ago. Further, 53% of total sales were completed digitally in the first quarter of 2022, which was up 23 percentage points from the comparable quarter in 2019 (i.e., prior to the pandemic).  Shifting transactions online or to mobile is allowing BofA to recognize cost-savings by consolidating some of its physical branches.</p><p>Taking into account CEO Brian Moynihan&#39;s penchant for returning a lot of capital to his shareholders via buybacks and dividends, and the company&#39;s positioning as interest rates rise, Bank of America&#39;s sub-10 forward-year price-to-earnings ratio makes it a steal at its current price.</p><h2>Amazon</h2><p>The third and final Warren Buffett stock to buy hand over fist in June is none other than e-commerce kingpin <b>Amazon</b>.</p><p>The echo the concerns stated earlier, Amazon&#39;s shares have endured their steepest sell-off in more than a decade on the expectation that the U.S. will enter a recession. Historically high inflation tends to hit lower-income individuals and households the hardest, which will almost certainly impact Amazon&#39;s value-based retail model. To boot, inflation is hitting most aspects of Amazon&#39;s supply chain and increasing its labor costs. Yet in spite of these headwinds, there are multiple reasons for long-term investors to be excited about scooping up shares of Amazon at a big discount.</p><p>As most folks are probably aware, Amazon is the undisputed leader in online retail sales in the United States. In March, eMarketer estimated that Amazon will control just shy of 40% of all U.S. e-commerce sales in 2022. That&#39;s more than eight percentage points higher than competitors No. 2 through 15, <i>combined</i>!</p><p>However, retail sales are only one part of the Amazon story -- and frankly not even the most-important part anymore. What&#39;s far more exciting is the growth from cloud infrastructure service segment, Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS controls close to a third of all global cloud infrastructure spending, with year over year sales growth coming in at 37% in the first quarter.  Cloud infrastructure spending is still, arguably, in its early innings, and the operating margins associated with AWS can run circles around the smaller margins derived from online retail revenue.</p><p>To add to this point, all of Amazon&#39;s higher-margin segments -- cloud infrastructure, advertising, and subscription services -- have continued to grow at a double-digit pace, even as retail sales have declined. This is a recipe for Amazon&#39;s operating cash flow to keep growing, even if online retail sales shrink noticeably in the coming quarters.</p><p>Last decade, Wall Street regularly supported a valuation multiple of 23 to 37 times Amazon&#39;s year-end operating cash flow. Based on Wall Street&#39;s forecast of $232 in cash flow per share for 2024, Amazon is valued at a historically inexpensive multiple (below 10) to its future cash flow. When recessions strike, it's not uncommon for banks to see their loan delinquency rates and charge-offs rise, which results in more money being set aside to cover losses. The end result being that earnings per share declines.However, there are two sides to economic cycles. Even though recessions are inevitable, they often last just a couple of months to a few quarters. By comparison, economic expansions are measured in years, and have even gone on for more than a decade. While recessions can be challenging, BofA spends a disproportionately longer amount of time benefiting from loan and deposit growth in an expanding U.S. and global economy. In other words, patience tends to pay off handsomely with big-bank stocks.What makes Bank of America a particularly intriguing buy right now is the company's interest rate sensitivity. With the Federal Reserve altering its stance on monetary policy and aiming to rapidly increase interest rates to tame inflation, no large bank is set to benefit more than BofA. According to a recent company presentation, a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve is expected to translate into an estimated $5.4 billion in added net interest income over 12 months.  Bank of America doesn't have to do any extra work to make more money on its variable-rate outstanding loans.The company's digitization initiatives are paying dividends as well. An additional 5 million BofA customers (42 million in total) are actively banking online or via mobile app than were doing so three years ago. Further, 53% of total sales were completed digitally in the first quarter of 2022, which was up 23 percentage points from the comparable quarter in 2019 (i.e., prior to the pandemic).  Shifting transactions online or to mobile is allowing BofA to recognize cost-savings by consolidating some of its physical branches.Taking into account CEO Brian Moynihan's penchant for returning a lot of capital to his shareholders via buybacks and dividends, and the company's positioning as interest rates rise, Bank of America's sub-10 forward-year price-to-earnings ratio makes it a steal at its current price.AmazonThe third and final Warren Buffett stock to buy hand over fist in June is none other than e-commerce kingpin Amazon.The echo the concerns stated earlier, Amazon's shares have endured their steepest sell-off in more than a decade on the expectation that the U.S. will enter a recession. Historically high inflation tends to hit lower-income individuals and households the hardest, which will almost certainly impact Amazon's value-based retail model. To boot, inflation is hitting most aspects of Amazon's supply chain and increasing its labor costs. Yet in spite of these headwinds, there are multiple reasons for long-term investors to be excited about scooping up shares of Amazon at a big discount.As most folks are probably aware, Amazon is the undisputed leader in online retail sales in the United States. In March, eMarketer estimated that Amazon will control just shy of 40% of all U.S. e-commerce sales in 2022. That's more than eight percentage points higher than competitors No. 2 through 15, combined!However, retail sales are only one part of the Amazon story -- and frankly not even the most-important part anymore. What's far more exciting is the growth from cloud infrastructure service segment, Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS controls close to a third of all global cloud infrastructure spending, with year over year sales growth coming in at 37% in the first quarter.  Cloud infrastructure spending is still, arguably, in its early innings, and the operating margins associated with AWS can run circles around the smaller margins derived from online retail revenue.To add to this point, all of Amazon's higher-margin segments -- cloud infrastructure, advertising, and subscription services -- have continued to grow at a double-digit pace, even as retail sales have declined. This is a recipe for Amazon's operating cash flow to keep growing, even if online retail sales shrink noticeably in the coming quarters.Last decade, Wall Street regularly supported a valuation multiple of 23 to 37 times Amazon's year-end operating cash flow. Based on Wall Street's forecast of $232 in cash flow per share for 2024, Amazon is valued at a historically inexpensive multiple (below 10) to its future cash flow. One reason why is NVIDIA's upcoming four-for-<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> stock split. While stock splits don't impact a company's valuation directly, they can attract greater numbers of small investors.</p>\n<p>However, there are plenty of even better reasons to like NVIDIA that have nothing to do with its stock split. The most obvious one is the company's gaming business.</p>\n<p>Gaming remains NVIDIA's biggest moneymaker, generating $2.8 billion of the company's total revenue of nearly $5.7 billion in the first quarter of 2021. And business is booming. NVIDIA's gaming revenue more than doubled year over year.</p>\n<p>It isn't just that gaming is increasing in popularity (although that is the case). NVIDIA benefits from regular hardware upgrade cycles. New games require even more processing power, which drives demand for the more powerful graphics processing units (GPUs).</p>\n<p>I especially like that NVIDIA is leveraging its gaming expertise to target new markets. For example, the company recently unveiled Omniverse Enterprise, a platform where design teams can build 3D virtual simulations and collaborate in real-time. In effect, NVIDIA is turning work into play (or vice versa, depending on how you look at it).</p>\n<p>NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress said in the company's Q1 conference call, \"As the world becomes more digital, virtual and collaborative, we see a significant revenue opportunity for Omniverse.\" I think that Kress's optimism is well-founded.</p>\n<p>Don't overlook NVIDIA's potential in the data center market, though. The company posted data center revenue of more than $2 billion in Q1, up 79% year over year. NVIDIA should enjoy sustained growth as more applications include artificial intelligence (AI).</p>\n<p>Assuming NVIDIA's pending acquisition of Arm passes regulatory hurdles, the company should further cement its leadership position in AI. In particular, the Arm deal would boost NVIDIA's presence in the fast-growing Internet of Things market with chips for mobile devices.</p>\n<p>Sure, an overall cryptocurrency crash could cause NVIDIA's shares to fall due to the popularity of the company's GPUs with crypto miners. It's happened before. However, the company has taken steps to segment its gaming business from crypto. I think that any pullback would only be temporary. NVIDIA has too many other strong growth drivers.</p>\n<h2>Moderna</h2>\n<p>Most companies can't honestly say that they've helped change the world.&nbsp;<b>Moderna</b> (NASDAQ:MRNA) can.</p>\n<p>The biotech's COVID-19 vaccine was second only to the vaccine developed by <b>Pfizer</b>&nbsp;and <b>BioNTech</b> to win U.S. Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Moderna reported $1.9 billion in sales for the vaccine in Q1, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.</p>\n<p>Based on supply agreements in place as of early May, Moderna projected that its COVID-19 vaccine would rake in sales this year of $19.2 billion. However, the company has secured additional deals since then.</p>\n<p>In just the past two weeks, Moderna has landed two new huge supply agreements. The U.S. government is buying 200 million additional doses of Moderna's COVID19 vaccine. The European Commission agreed to purchase another 150 million doses.</p>\n<p>But does Moderna's market cap of close to $90 billion already price all of this growth in? To some extent, yes. However, shares still are trading at only around 10.5 times expected earnings. That's an attractive valuation, especially for a biotech stock.</p>\n<p>The big question for Moderna is how strong the recurring revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine will be. While the sales levels of 2021 and 2022 might not be sustainable over the long run, annual vaccinations could be likely (especially with emerging coronavirus variants). I expect Moderna will be able to count on significant COVID-19 vaccine sales for years to come.</p>\n<p>Then there's the pipeline. Moderna plans to advance its cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine into late-stage testing this year. It could easily be a megablockbuster if approved. The company has a dozen other programs in clinical testing.</p>\n<p>Moderna hopes to use its newfound riches to dramatically boost its pipeline in the near future. CEO Stephane Bancel has stated that he'd like to have up to 50 clinical programs.</p>\n<p>All of Moderna's current and planned pipeline programs are based on its messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. The company has maintained for a long time that if its mRNA approach worked for one disease, it would work for many diseases. Anyone who jumped on the Dogecoin late is probably sitting on some hefty losses.\nRegardless of what your take is on Dogecoin, what really matters is where you should put your money now. Here are two popular Robinhood stocks that could crush Dogecoin going forward.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nNVIDIA\nWhile Dogecoin has nosedived in recent months, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock has taken off. One reason why is NVIDIA's upcoming four-for-one stock split. While stock splits don't impact a company's valuation directly, they can attract greater numbers of small investors.\nHowever, there are plenty of even better reasons to like NVIDIA that have nothing to do with its stock split. The most obvious one is the company's gaming business.\nGaming remains NVIDIA's biggest moneymaker, generating $2.8 billion of the company's total revenue of nearly $5.7 billion in the first quarter of 2021. And business is booming. NVIDIA's gaming revenue more than doubled year over year.\nIt isn't just that gaming is increasing in popularity (although that is the case). NVIDIA benefits from regular hardware upgrade cycles. New games require even more processing power, which drives demand for the more powerful graphics processing units (GPUs).\nI especially like that NVIDIA is leveraging its gaming expertise to target new markets. For example, the company recently unveiled Omniverse Enterprise, a platform where design teams can build 3D virtual simulations and collaborate in real-time. In effect, NVIDIA is turning work into play (or vice versa, depending on how you look at it).\nNVIDIA CFO Colette Kress said in the company's Q1 conference call, \"As the world becomes more digital, virtual and collaborative, we see a significant revenue opportunity for Omniverse.\" I think that Kress's optimism is well-founded.\nDon't overlook NVIDIA's potential in the data center market, though. The company posted data center revenue of more than $2 billion in Q1, up 79% year over year. NVIDIA should enjoy sustained growth as more applications include artificial intelligence (AI).\nAssuming NVIDIA's pending acquisition of Arm passes regulatory hurdles, the company should further cement its leadership position in AI. In particular, the Arm deal would boost NVIDIA's presence in the fast-growing Internet of Things market with chips for mobile devices.\nSure, an overall cryptocurrency crash could cause NVIDIA's shares to fall due to the popularity of the company's GPUs with crypto miners. It's happened before. However, the company has taken steps to segment its gaming business from crypto. I think that any pullback would only be temporary. NVIDIA has too many other strong growth drivers.\nModerna\nMost companies can't honestly say that they've helped change the world. Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) can.\nThe biotech's COVID-19 vaccine was second only to the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech to win U.S. Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Moderna reported $1.9 billion in sales for the vaccine in Q1, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.\nBased on supply agreements in place as of early May, Moderna projected that its COVID-19 vaccine would rake in sales this year of $19.2 billion. However, the company has secured additional deals since then.\nIn just the past two weeks, Moderna has landed two new huge supply agreements. The U.S. government is buying 200 million additional doses of Moderna's COVID19 vaccine. The European Commission agreed to purchase another 150 million doses.\nBut does Moderna's market cap of close to $90 billion already price all of this growth in? To some extent, yes. However, shares still are trading at only around 10.5 times expected earnings. That's an attractive valuation, especially for a biotech stock.\nThe big question for Moderna is how strong the recurring revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine will be. While the sales levels of 2021 and 2022 might not be sustainable over the long run, annual vaccinations could be likely (especially with emerging coronavirus variants). I expect Moderna will be able to count on significant COVID-19 vaccine sales for years to come.\nThen there's the pipeline. Moderna plans to advance its cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine into late-stage testing this year. It could easily be a megablockbuster if approved. The company has a dozen other programs in clinical testing.\nModerna hopes to use its newfound riches to dramatically boost its pipeline in the near future. CEO Stephane Bancel has stated that he'd like to have up to 50 clinical programs.\nAll of Moderna's current and planned pipeline programs are based on its messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. The company has maintained for a long time that if its mRNA approach worked for one disease, it would work for many diseases. Many companies faced adversity throughout the pandemic, and some are still recovering, but not BABA. Through the worst economic environment for businesses to navigate in recent times, BABA generated over $100 billion in revenue and $20 billion in net income during their recent fiscal year. While BABA didn't get the memo about businesses facing challenges amidst the pandemic, the market must not have read BABA's earnings report or crunched the numbers.</p>\n<p>There are two Chinese companies I am bullish on, and BABA is my biggest conviction for appreciation. BABA smashed through the $300 share price level at the end of October 2020, but shareholders have been left confused and disappointed since then. It looked like BABA would turn the corner after a horrible end to 2020 as shares appreciated from $222.36 from the close of 2020 to $270.83 in the middle of February 2021. Still, the markets had other plans, and all shares of BABA have done is disappoint shareholders. If you missed the BABA train, it's time to grab your tickets and climb aboard, and if you purchased BABA during its run to $300 or early 2021 rebound, it might be time to add to your holdings. BABA is going to experience tremendous tailwinds from China's population and economic growth over the next several years, and their printing press is going to need more ink.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/86da7b532f25f563d08490ddc43cbede\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"337\"><span>(Source: Alibaba)</span></p>\n<p><b>The Alibaba printing press is open for business, and it spits out billions</b></p>\n<p>How many companies can say their annual revenue through the pandemic exceeded $100 billion? The $100 billion revenue mark is a prestigious club that companies such as&nbsp;Facebook (FB),PepsiCo (PEP),Procter &amp; Gamble (PG),Target (TGT), and&nbsp;Johnson &amp; Johnson (JNJ)&nbsp;are not part of. BABA, on the other hand, witnessed its revenue increase by 52.11% and smash through $100 billion as they generated $109.47 billion in their recent fiscal year. For the year ending March 2019, BABA's revenue increased by $16.25 billion (40.74%) to $56.15 billion, then for the March 2020 fiscal year, revenue increased another $15.82 billion (28.17%) to $71.97 billion. BABA is in the same boat as Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOG)(GOOGL), FB, and Amazon (AMZN) as they watched the pandemic push more people to go digital which accelerated their businesses. For BABA, the forced transition to digital helped them achieve $37.5 billion (52.11%) in additional revenue as they finished their March 2021 fiscal year with $109.47 billion in revenue.</p>\n<p>Since 2013 BABA has not had a year where their annual revenue increase didn't exceed 25% Year over Year (YoY). When you think about that as a growth rate, it's remarkable for a company of BABA's size as this isn't a company chasing its first billion-dollar revenue year. Over the past 5 fiscal years, BABA's annual revenue has increased by $93.8 billion (408.08%) at an average annual rate of 48.25%. Smaller companies considered growth companies would be jealous of these rates, while many large caps are probably envious.</p>\n<p>BABA isn't a one-trick pony that can only generate tens of billions in revenue. BABA can convert right down to the bottom line. Each year BABA has increased its YoY gross profit by a minimum of 10% since 2013. In 2016 BABA generated $10.35 billion in gross profit and, over the next 5 fiscal years, increased its annual gross profit by $34.84 billion (336.68%). BABA has also never fallen below a 40% gross profit margin, Warren Buffett's magic number, as he indicates in<i>Warren Buffett and the Interpretation of Financial Statements. On page 34 of the Kindle edition,it says:</i></p>\n<blockquote>\n As a very general rule (and there are exceptions): Companies with gross profit margins of 40% or better tend to be companies with some sort of durable competitive advantage. Companies with gross profit margins below 40% tend to be companies in highly competitive industries, where competition is hurting overall profit margins (there are exceptions here, too).\n</blockquote>\n<p>The gross profit margin is important for investors to evaluate because it reveals how much of a company's revenue goes directly to producing it and if they have a moat around their business. BABA's numbers indicate they have a sufficient moat around their business that is hard to penetrate. With close to a decade of generating over 40% in gross profit margins, investors can expect that BABA's moat will protect its business operations for years to come.</p>\n<p>Moving to the bottom line BABA does a great job at generating profits. In their most recent fiscal year, BABA generated $22.98 billion in net income, converting more than 1/5th (20.99%) of their revenue to pure profits. Since 2013 BABA has only had 1 year where net income decreases YoY. With that track record, many options open up for BABA in the future as their cash stockpile continues to increase.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/41a5e036f023fa4ced7666e06aa1de6b\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"444\"><span>(Source: Alibaba)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba will continue to experience tailwinds as China's population and economy expands</b></p>\n<p>Alibaba&nbsp;achieved one billion annual active consumers globally in the fiscal year that ended in March 2021. BABA has 891 million consumers across China's retail marketplace, local consumer services and digital media and entertainment platforms, and approximately 240 million consumers outside China. BABA's annual active consumers in the China retail marketplaces were 811 million as it grew by 85 million YoY. BABA will focus on developing a digital commerce infrastructure that offers an upgraded consumer experience by seamlessly integrating online and offline. Through BABA's infrastructure, countless retailers have digitally transformed their businesses and created multiple retail formats that have enabled new consumption experiences by leveraging consumer insights and technology. BABA's ecosystem, supply chain, and diversified fulfillment services have facilitated an immense digital transformation. By investing in its infrastructure, BABA's customers can now leverage a full range of high-frequency fulfillment services that include on-demand delivery, same-or-next day delivery, and next-day pick-up services for a full range of consumable and physical products.</p>\n<p>BABA will continue to be one of the cornerstones that supports growth within China's economy, which is benefiting from the acceleration of digitalization in all aspects of life and work. China is projected to be the world's largest economy by 2028. The per-capita income in China is expected to grow by roughly 50% from 2020 to 2025.China's average economic growth&nbsp;has been projected to increase at a rate of 5.7% from 2021 to 2025, then slow to 4.5% from 2026 to 2030. As a result,China&nbsp;is on track to join the top 1/3rd of nations and overtake 56 countries in the per capita income rankings by 2025. By the end of 2022, McKinsey&nbsp;predicts&nbsp;that the middle class could expand to 550 million people which is larger than the entire U.S population.</p>\n<p>If the projections for China are correct, this should mean a windfall of cash lining BABA's coffers. It's a simple recipe; when people make more money, they tend to spend more money to enhance their lives and increase their standard of living. As BABA is a dominant force in China's retail sector, they stand to benefit from a growing economy and a larger middle class. At the end of next year, if China has anywhere close to 550 million individuals in the middle class, I believe BABA's revenue and profits will increase significantly. This trend can provide tailwinds throughout the decade for BABA, and eventually, the market will reward shareholders based on BABA's value proposition.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bbde4a092d19118a2d16daabf5c027d7\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"463\"><span>(Source: Blomberg)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba has tremendous growth prospects in Cloud as China continues its digitization</b></p>\n<p>Cloud computing has been red hot in the U.S. as the transition from on-prem to cloud has increased the technological capabilities for many organizations. As digitization progresses across the business landscape, cloud providers continue to increase revenue generated from their cloud segments within their overall revenue mix. For example, AWS, the cloud computing division from&nbsp;AMZN, generated $45.37 billion in 2020. Cloud continues to be an exciting sector because the digital transformation is far from being over. Hence, the prospects of new customers are enormous while reoccurring revenue is generated after the transition occurs.</p>\n<p>In China, cloud infrastructure services are still in the early innings as the entire spend was around $15 billion in 2020. In Q1 of 2021, cloud infrastructure services in&nbsp;China&nbsp;grew by 55% YoY as it reached $6 billion. China was the 2nd largest market behind the U.S, accounting for 14% of global investment, up from 12% in Q1 of 2020. With cloud spending and digitization in China increasing, this serves as a major runway for growth in Alibaba Cloud.</p>\n<p>As China's economy expands, businesses will need to become more efficient to support both operations and customer demands. Chinese companies will need to implement infrastructure that can support a digital age of the workforce while supporting cloud services used by consumers for consumption. If China passes the U.S. as the world's largest economy in the second half of this decade, the amount of growth needed in cloud services will be immense. BABA is already the leader in cloud infrastructure services in China as their 39.8% market share accounted for $2.39 billion of the $6 billion spent in Q1 2021. Over the previous 6 quarters, cloud infrastructure spending has increased by roughly $2.3 billion (76.67%) in China. Based on cloud's current trajectory, quarterly revenue is on track to double over the next 2 years, putting Q1 2023 revenue at $10.6 billion. If BABA has a 35% market share, their Q1 2023 would be $3.71 billion, placing their 2023 revenue for cloud at $14.84 billion without factoring in any growth in 2023. From a cloud aspect, China's future spending is very exciting, and BABA will be one of the major benefactors.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1759b81ce463d503a165d901e2e50d7c\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"728\"><span>(Source: Canalys)</span></p>\n<p><b>Alibaba has stellar financial metrics and is undervalued compared to the U.S. tech conglomerates</b></p>\n<p>For this comparison, I am going to use AMZN and GOOGL as they have been establishing their dominance in the U.S. for more than a decade. First, here are the raw numbers for AMZN, BABA, and GOOGL:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>AMZN</li>\n <li>BABA</li>\n <li>GOOGL</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The market currently places a multiple of 17.03x on AMZN's equity compared to its market cap, while its revenue multiple is 4.2x. GOOGL has a multiple of 7.17x on its equity and 8.39x on its revenue compared to market cap. AMZN and GOOGL's market caps exceed $1.5 trillion, while BABA's sits at $575.57 billion. The market is placing a 3.5x multiple on BABA's equity and 5.26x on its revenue compared to the market cap. Thus, the market is severely discounting BABA's equity and revenue generation. BABA's equity is worth 28.58% of its market cap, while AMZN's equity is equivalent to 5.87%, and GOOGL's is 13.94% of its market cap. The current discount placed on BABA's equity could create an additional tailwind for shareholders in the future.</p>\n<p><b>Conclusion</b></p>\n<p>It's hard to dismiss the growth opportunities some companies in China are presenting, especially after the recent decline in share prices. However, I believe shares of BABA are currently undervalued based on their current financial metrics and growth rates. China's economy and the amount of capital allocated to cloud service infrastructure are expected to grow substantially over the years. These will create powerful tailwinds for BABA throughout this decade. As a result, I think shareholders have been allowed to establish a BABA or dollar cost average position at a discounted price. Many companies faced adversity throughout the pandemic, and some are still recovering, but not BABA. Through the worst economic environment for businesses to navigate in recent times, BABA generated over $100 billion in revenue and $20 billion in net income during their recent fiscal year. While BABA didn't get the memo about businesses facing challenges amidst the pandemic, the market must not have read BABA's earnings report or crunched the numbers.\nThere are two Chinese companies I am bullish on, and BABA is my biggest conviction for appreciation. BABA smashed through the $300 share price level at the end of October 2020, but shareholders have been left confused and disappointed since then. It looked like BABA would turn the corner after a horrible end to 2020 as shares appreciated from $222.36 from the close of 2020 to $270.83 in the middle of February 2021. Still, the markets had other plans, and all shares of BABA have done is disappoint shareholders. If you missed the BABA train, it's time to grab your tickets and climb aboard, and if you purchased BABA during its run to $300 or early 2021 rebound, it might be time to add to your holdings. BABA is going to experience tremendous tailwinds from China's population and economic growth over the next several years, and their printing press is going to need more ink.\n(Source: Alibaba)\nThe Alibaba printing press is open for business, and it spits out billions\nHow many companies can say their annual revenue through the pandemic exceeded $100 billion? The $100 billion revenue mark is a prestigious club that companies such as Facebook (FB),PepsiCo (PEP),Procter & Gamble (PG),Target (TGT), and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) are not part of. BABA, on the other hand, witnessed its revenue increase by 52.11% and smash through $100 billion as they generated $109.47 billion in their recent fiscal year. For the year ending March 2019, BABA's revenue increased by $16.25 billion (40.74%) to $56.15 billion, then for the March 2020 fiscal year, revenue increased another $15.82 billion (28.17%) to $71.97 billion. BABA is in the same boat as Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOG)(GOOGL), FB, and Amazon (AMZN) as they watched the pandemic push more people to go digital which accelerated their businesses. For BABA, the forced transition to digital helped them achieve $37.5 billion (52.11%) in additional revenue as they finished their March 2021 fiscal year with $109.47 billion in revenue.\nSince 2013 BABA has not had a year where their annual revenue increase didn't exceed 25% Year over Year (YoY). When you think about that as a growth rate, it's remarkable for a company of BABA's size as this isn't a company chasing its first billion-dollar revenue year. Over the past 5 fiscal years, BABA's annual revenue has increased by $93.8 billion (408.08%) at an average annual rate of 48.25%. Smaller companies considered growth companies would be jealous of these rates, while many large caps are probably envious.\nBABA isn't a one-trick pony that can only generate tens of billions in revenue. BABA can convert right down to the bottom line. Each year BABA has increased its YoY gross profit by a minimum of 10% since 2013. In 2016 BABA generated $10.35 billion in gross profit and, over the next 5 fiscal years, increased its annual gross profit by $34.84 billion (336.68%). BABA has also never fallen below a 40% gross profit margin, Warren Buffett's magic number, as he indicates inWarren Buffett and the Interpretation of Financial Statements. On page 34 of the Kindle edition,it says:\n\n As a very general rule (and there are exceptions): Companies with gross profit margins of 40% or better tend to be companies with some sort of durable competitive advantage. Companies with gross profit margins below 40% tend to be companies in highly competitive industries, where competition is hurting overall profit margins (there are exceptions here, too).\n\nThe gross profit margin is important for investors to evaluate because it reveals how much of a company's revenue goes directly to producing it and if they have a moat around their business. BABA's numbers indicate they have a sufficient moat around their business that is hard to penetrate. With close to a decade of generating over 40% in gross profit margins, investors can expect that BABA's moat will protect its business operations for years to come.\nMoving to the bottom line BABA does a great job at generating profits. In their most recent fiscal year, BABA generated $22.98 billion in net income, converting more than 1/5th (20.99%) of their revenue to pure profits. Since 2013 BABA has only had 1 year where net income decreases YoY. With that track record, many options open up for BABA in the future as their cash stockpile continues to increase.\n(Source: Alibaba)\nAlibaba will continue to experience tailwinds as China's population and economy expands\nAlibaba achieved one billion annual active consumers globally in the fiscal year that ended in March 2021. BABA has 891 million consumers across China's retail marketplace, local consumer services and digital media and entertainment platforms, and approximately 240 million consumers outside China. BABA's annual active consumers in the China retail marketplaces were 811 million as it grew by 85 million YoY. BABA will focus on developing a digital commerce infrastructure that offers an upgraded consumer experience by seamlessly integrating online and offline. Through BABA's infrastructure, countless retailers have digitally transformed their businesses and created multiple retail formats that have enabled new consumption experiences by leveraging consumer insights and technology. BABA's ecosystem, supply chain, and diversified fulfillment services have facilitated an immense digital transformation. By investing in its infrastructure, BABA's customers can now leverage a full range of high-frequency fulfillment services that include on-demand delivery, same-or-next day delivery, and next-day pick-up services for a full range of consumable and physical products.\nBABA will continue to be one of the cornerstones that supports growth within China's economy, which is benefiting from the acceleration of digitalization in all aspects of life and work. China is projected to be the world's largest economy by 2028. The per-capita income in China is expected to grow by roughly 50% from 2020 to 2025.China's average economic growth has been projected to increase at a rate of 5.7% from 2021 to 2025, then slow to 4.5% from 2026 to 2030. As a result,China is on track to join the top 1/3rd of nations and overtake 56 countries in the per capita income rankings by 2025. By the end of 2022, McKinsey predicts that the middle class could expand to 550 million people which is larger than the entire U.S population.\nIf the projections for China are correct, this should mean a windfall of cash lining BABA's coffers. It's a simple recipe; when people make more money, they tend to spend more money to enhance their lives and increase their standard of living. As BABA is a dominant force in China's retail sector, they stand to benefit from a growing economy and a larger middle class. At the end of next year, if China has anywhere close to 550 million individuals in the middle class, I believe BABA's revenue and profits will increase significantly. This trend can provide tailwinds throughout the decade for BABA, and eventually, the market will reward shareholders based on BABA's value proposition.\n(Source: Blomberg)\nAlibaba has tremendous growth prospects in Cloud as China continues its digitization\nCloud computing has been red hot in the U.S. as the transition from on-prem to cloud has increased the technological capabilities for many organizations. As digitization progresses across the business landscape, cloud providers continue to increase revenue generated from their cloud segments within their overall revenue mix. For example, AWS, the cloud computing division from AMZN, generated $45.37 billion in 2020. Cloud continues to be an exciting sector because the digital transformation is far from being over. Hence, the prospects of new customers are enormous while reoccurring revenue is generated after the transition occurs.\nIn China, cloud infrastructure services are still in the early innings as the entire spend was around $15 billion in 2020. In Q1 of 2021, cloud infrastructure services in China grew by 55% YoY as it reached $6 billion. China was the 2nd largest market behind the U.S, accounting for 14% of global investment, up from 12% in Q1 of 2020. With cloud spending and digitization in China increasing, this serves as a major runway for growth in Alibaba Cloud.\nAs China's economy expands, businesses will need to become more efficient to support both operations and customer demands. Chinese companies will need to implement infrastructure that can support a digital age of the workforce while supporting cloud services used by consumers for consumption. If China passes the U.S. as the world's largest economy in the second half of this decade, the amount of growth needed in cloud services will be immense. BABA is already the leader in cloud infrastructure services in China as their 39.8% market share accounted for $2.39 billion of the $6 billion spent in Q1 2021. Over the previous 6 quarters, cloud infrastructure spending has increased by roughly $2.3 billion (76.67%) in China. Based on cloud's current trajectory, quarterly revenue is on track to double over the next 2 years, putting Q1 2023 revenue at $10.6 billion. If BABA has a 35% market share, their Q1 2023 would be $3.71 billion, placing their 2023 revenue for cloud at $14.84 billion without factoring in any growth in 2023. From a cloud aspect, China's future spending is very exciting, and BABA will be one of the major benefactors.\n(Source: Canalys)\nAlibaba has stellar financial metrics and is undervalued compared to the U.S. tech conglomerates\nFor this comparison, I am going to use AMZN and GOOGL as they have been establishing their dominance in the U.S. for more than a decade. First, here are the raw numbers for AMZN, BABA, and GOOGL:\n\nAMZN\nBABA\nGOOGL\n\nThe market currently places a multiple of 17.03x on AMZN's equity compared to its market cap, while its revenue multiple is 4.2x. GOOGL has a multiple of 7.17x on its equity and 8.39x on its revenue compared to market cap. AMZN and GOOGL's market caps exceed $1.5 trillion, while BABA's sits at $575.57 billion. The market is placing a 3.5x multiple on BABA's equity and 5.26x on its revenue compared to the market cap. Thus, the market is severely discounting BABA's equity and revenue generation. BABA's equity is worth 28.58% of its market cap, while AMZN's equity is equivalent to 5.87%, and GOOGL's is 13.94% of its market cap. The current discount placed on BABA's equity could create an additional tailwind for shareholders in the future.\nConclusion\nIt's hard to dismiss the growth opportunities some companies in China are presenting, especially after the recent decline in share prices. However, I believe shares of BABA are currently undervalued based on their current financial metrics and growth rates. China's economy and the amount of capital allocated to cloud service infrastructure are expected to grow substantially over the years. These will create powerful tailwinds for BABA throughout this decade. As a result, I think shareholders have been allowed to establish a BABA or dollar cost average position at a discounted price.
