Both companies reported lower than expected ad revenue worsened by the conflict in Europe. However, these headwinds wereexpected. However, while GOOGL fell post-earnings, Meta stock was up almost 20% at writing.

Perhaps the pessimism over FB stock had been driven to such an extreme that the bearish sentiment had peaked. We also discussed in our earnings preview that FB stock was trading near FCF yields last reached at the COVID bottom. In addition, many investors expected CEO Mark Zuckerberg & Team to "crash and burn." Therefore, we think the market had priced these extreme bearish sentiments heading into Meta's Q1 earnings.

We discuss why FB stock remains a Buy despite its mixed Q1 report.

Meta's Q1 Card Complicated by Headwinds in Europe

There was a lot of concern over Meta's release after Google reported softer ad spending in Europe yesterday. Google's mixed card was parsed by analysts as headwinds over YouTube's growth deceleration overshadowed its strong performance in Search and Google Cloud. Notably, Google highlighted continued headwinds in YouTube's direct response ads. It validated the market's concerns that the headwinds over lower-funnel activities may not have subsided.

Moreover, Meta doesn't have the underlying strength and diversification of Google's Search or hyperscale business. As the leading display advertising player, it continues to depend mainly on garnering attention. But, given the ongoing impact of Apple's ATT headwinds and TikTok's (BDNCE) penetration, we know there would be no quick fixes. Meta has also consistently reminded investors of its previous successful transition to Instagram Stories. The improved bottom-line showing despite a lower-than-projected revenue growth was unexpected.

Analysts had expected Meta to report "horrid" top- and bottom-line numbers going into Q1, given the headwinds discussed. But, Zuckerberg pulled a rabbit out of the hat as he emphasized that Meta was slowing its rate of investments. He accentuated (edited):

Based on the strong revenue growth that we saw in 2021, we kicked off a number of multi-year projects to accelerate some of our longer term investments, especially in our AI infrastructure, Business Platform and Reality Labs. What Will Happen to GME Stock?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1132811682","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"GameStop stock shot as much as 16.9% higher in after-hours trading after the company announced plans","content":"

GameStop stock shot as much as 16.9% higher in after-hours trading after the company announced plans to split its stock. So when is the GameStop stock split date? And what will happen to GME stock once the split goes into effect?

Today, investors learned this big news via a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. GameStop will follow in the footsteps of tech giants like Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG, NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Amazon in splitting its stock. Tesla also recently announced it intends to seek shareholder approval for a stock split.

According to the filing, GameStop plans to seek shareholder approval to increase the amount of authorized Class A common stock from 300 million shares to 1 billion shares. It says that increasing the share count will allow it to enact a stock split in the form of a dividend payout. The company also said that it could use this share count increase to “provide flexibility for future corporate needs.”

As CNBC reported, this could mean that GameStop plans to sell more stock, among other things.

When Is the GameStop Stock Split Date?

GameStop announced its plans for a stock split on March 31, 2022. Before the split can take effect, shareholders must vote to approve the proposal. This vote is set to take place during the upcoming annual meeting. The company has not yet announced the date and location for the annual meeting. GameStop also said the stock dividend must receive approval from its board of directors.

For shareholders and meme stocks fans, there are unfortunately few details available at this time. However, GameStop said it will share more in the proxy statement that it issues ahead of the annual meeting.

What Will Happen to GME Stock?

Investors appear to like the news, sending GME stock up in after-hours trading. This could be due to speculation that meme stocks fans will be piling into GameStop in coming days.

More broadly, investors tend to view stock splits as a way to make shares more accessible. By lowering the overall price of one share, new investors may be able to buy in. This has led companies like Alphabet and Amazon with high-priced shares to enact splits and widen their shareholder bases. GME shares are currently trading for more than $190 after the latest rally. Over the last two years, this share price has increased by more than 5,000%.

Therefore, enacting a stock split and lowering the individual share price could entice more fans to become shareholders.

However, investors should note that beyond changing the share price, a stock split will not have any other fundamental impacts on GameStop stock.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
When Is the GameStop Stock Split Date? So when is the GameStop stock split date? And what will happen to GME stock once the split goes into effect?Today, investors learned this big news via a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. GameStop will follow in the footsteps of tech giants like Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG, NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Amazon in splitting its stock. Tesla also recently announced it intends to seek shareholder approval for a stock split.According to the filing, GameStop plans to seek shareholder approval to increase the amount of authorized Class A common stock from 300 million shares to 1 billion shares. It says that increasing the share count will allow it to enact a stock split in the form of a dividend payout. The company also said that it could use this share count increase to “provide flexibility for future corporate needs.”As CNBC reported, this could mean that GameStop plans to sell more stock, among other things. When Is the GameStop Stock Split Date?GameStop announced its plans for a stock split on March 31, 2022. What Will Happen to GME Stock?Investors appear to like the news, sending GME stock up in after-hours trading. This could be due to speculation that meme stocks fans will be piling into GameStop in coming days.More broadly, investors tend to view stock splits as a way to make shares more accessible. By lowering the overall price of one share, new investors may be able to buy in. This has led companies like Alphabet and Amazon with high-priced shares to enact splits and widen their shareholder bases. GME shares are currently trading for more than $190 after the latest rally. Over the last two years, this share price has increased by more than 5,000%.Therefore, enacting a stock split and lowering the individual share price could entice more fans to become shareholders. However, investors should note that beyond changing the share price, a stock split will not have any other fundamental impacts on GameStop stock.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":42,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":881745226,"gmtCreate":1631409616865,"gmtModify":1676530541958,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Dont worry","listText":"Dont worry","text":"Dont worry","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/881745226","repostId":"2166904370","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":49,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9932333448,"gmtCreate":1662871937384,"gmtModify":1676537155560,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Thermo Fisher Scientific(TMO)$ok","listText":"$Thermo Fisher Scientific(TMO)$ok","text":"$Thermo Fisher Scientific(TMO)$ok","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/f7cd472c039f9ff4b2a1a23e8c6d33ec","width":"1080","height":"1733"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9932333448","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":904,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9090997278,"gmtCreate":1643064488325,"gmtModify":1676533769346,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9090997278","repostId":"2205802723","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2205802723","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1643037267,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2205802723?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-24 23:14","market":"us","language":"en","title":"4 Stocks That Can Turn $100,000 Into $1 Million by 2030","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2205802723","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"With time as an investors' ally, these game-changing stocks can make people rich.","content":"

Since the stock market bottomed out in March 2020, investors have enjoyed historic gains. Policy makers have said the decision will be determined by economic data, including the monthly jobs report due Friday and another update on consumer prices that will be released in two weeks.

The surprise strength in Tuesday’s indicators suggests that labor demand isn’t likely to abate soon, in spite of the rising interest rates. The consumer confidence gauge showed that Americans are growing more optimistic about the economy amid falling gasoline prices -- even as the costs of other essential items including food continue to rise at a quick pace.

“That lends itself to the narrative that if consumers are more confident, they’ll keep on spending, and maybe that means inflationary pressures that will keep the Fed on their tightening path,” said Derek Holt, an economist at Scotiabank who expects the Fed to raise rates by 75 basis points in September.

Following hawkish comments from Powell and other policy makers in Jackson Hole, investors are leaning toward a 75-basis-point hike, according to prices of futures contracts linked to the US central bank’s benchmark rate.

On the job-market front, vacancies have exceeded 11 million for eight-straight months and the unemployment rate remains historically low.

Some of the largest increases in vacancies were in retail trade, and transportation, warehousing and utilities. Arts, entertainment and recreation also posted more openings from the prior month, and so did federal government and state and local government education.

“Demand for labor shows no sign of cooling despite the Fed’s efforts to slow it down. Job openings failed to decline in July and the ratio of job openings per unemployed -- one of the Fed’s preferred measures of labor-market tightness -- remained near a record high. That suggests the central bank needs to keep on an aggressive rate-hike course, tipping the scale toward a 75-basis-point increase at the September FOMC meeting.”

-- Eliza Winger, economist

Some measures did indicate a slight tempering of wage growth down the road. The share of Americans quitting their private-sector jobseased last monthto the lowest level since May 2021.

In the Conference Board report, the share of consumers who said jobs were “plentiful” decreased slightly to 48%. However, six months from now, more respondents expected business conditions to improve. They said they are slightly more positive about their short-term financial prospects.

","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Fed Gets New Path to Go Big as Job Openings, Confidence Surprise
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nFed Gets New Path to Go Big as Job Openings, Confidence Surprise\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-08-31 07:54 GMT+8 Bloomberg\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Two indicators top forecasts, pointing to strength in demandStrong data complicates Fed’s job to tamp down inflationUS jobs openings and a consumer confidence gauge both topped forecasts, pointing to ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".DJI":"道琼斯",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index"},"source_url":"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-08-30/fed-gets-more-data-to-go-big-in-job-openings-confidence-reports","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1113965751","content_text":"Two indicators top forecasts, pointing to strength in demandStrong data complicates Fed’s job to tamp down inflationUS jobs openings and a consumer confidence gauge both topped forecasts, pointing to strength in household and labor demand that risks sustaining inflationary pressures and raises the prospects for a third straight 75 basis-point interest-rate hike by the Federal Reserve.The Conference Board’s August index of sentiment rose to athree-month high, and the report also showed firmer buying plans for appliances and cars. Policy makers have said the decision will be determined by economic data, including the monthly jobs report due Friday and another update on consumer prices that will be released in two weeks.The surprise strength in Tuesday’s indicators suggests that labor demand isn’t likely to abate soon, in spite of the rising interest rates. The consumer confidence gauge showed that Americans are growing more optimistic about the economy amid falling gasoline prices -- even as the costs of other essential items including food continue to rise at a quick pace.“That lends itself to the narrative that if consumers are more confident, they’ll keep on spending, and maybe that means inflationary pressures that will keep the Fed on their tightening path,” said Derek Holt, an economist at Scotiabank who expects the Fed to raise rates by 75 basis points in September.Following hawkish comments from Powell and other policy makers in Jackson Hole, investors are leaning toward a 75-basis-point hike, according to prices of futures contracts linked to the US central bank’s benchmark rate.On the job-market front, vacancies have exceeded 11 million for eight-straight months and the unemployment rate remains historically low.Some of the largest increases in vacancies were in retail trade, and transportation, warehousing and utilities. Arts, entertainment and recreation also posted more openings from the prior month, and so did federal government and state and local government education.“Demand for labor shows no sign of cooling despite the Fed’s efforts to slow it down. Job openings failed to decline in July and the ratio of job openings per unemployed -- one of the Fed’s preferred measures of labor-market tightness -- remained near a record high. That suggests the central bank needs to keep on an aggressive rate-hike course, tipping the scale toward a 75-basis-point increase at the September FOMC meeting.”-- Eliza Winger, economistSome measures did indicate a slight tempering of wage growth down the road. The share of Americans quitting their private-sector jobseased last monthto the lowest level since May 2021.In the Conference Board report, the share of consumers who said jobs were “plentiful” decreased slightly to 48%. However, six months from now, more respondents expected business conditions to improve. They said they are slightly more positive about their short-term financial prospects.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":22,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9930818652,"gmtCreate":1661927247878,"gmtModify":1676536605573,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9930818652","repostId":"1113965751","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":4,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9072024808,"gmtCreate":1657933018504,"gmtModify":1676536083332,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","listText":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","text":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/42126b92ac5e5c00be79be140c24a41d","width":"1080","height":"2191"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9072024808","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":61,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9078933805,"gmtCreate":1657612092111,"gmtModify":1676536034268,"author":{"id":"3559441141744157","authorId":"3559441141744157","name":"gravitytogo","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/29c93ad65c0b698ecedd95d5f38f014d","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559441141744157","authorIdStr":"3559441141744157"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","listText":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","text":"$S&P Global(SPGI)$ok","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/4c41840bd023982a7f5ec786f796eab8","width":"1080","height":"3126"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9078933805","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":6,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
