plan.
\n
The appointment follows Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat’s surprise announcement about two weeks ago that he’sstepping asideas the designated successor to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong within the People’s Action Party, which has led the country since independence. That forced changes to the long-telegraphed transition, leaving the party to seek a successor among its younger leaders before the next election due by 2025.
\n
Since founding father Lee Kuan Yew relinquished power some three decades ago, Singapore’s politics have been so well choreographed and predictable that they’re often joked about as dull. Local markets barely budged on Heng’s announcement earlier this month that he was stepping out of the running. Analysts have said they expect Singapore to remain politically stable.
\n
Though no clear successor to Lee was identified Friday, the finance minister selection could be a signal of who among the party’s “fourth-generation” leaders ultimately might be positioned for the top job. We're just living in it.GameStop(NYSE:GME)has to be 2021's most interesting s","content":"
It's a GameStop world. We're just living in it.

GameStop(NYSE:GME)has to be 2021's most interesting stock. The video game retailer started to pick up momentum ahead of the launch of new game consoles fromSonyandMicrosoftlast year, and over the past two months, short-squeeze mania and other big developments have led to incredible swings for the the company's share price.

GameStop's stock climbed as high as $483 per share during the height of short-squeeze mania. While the stock briefly returned to trading in the range of $50 per share, it's bounced back once again and traded at $201.75 at Thursday's close. That price represents a 971% increase year to date and a 4,715% increase from the $4.19 share price the stock had one year ago.

Why is GameStop surging, and what comes next?

How did we get here?

The start of GameStop's improbable, supercharged rally can be traced back to the introduction of Sony's PlayStation 5 console and Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S platforms in 2020. New console launches have historically led to a cyclical upcycle for GameStop's business and stock performance.

Pricing momentum created by the new hardware launches was further intensified by news that activist investor andChewyco-founder Ryan Cohen was amassing a large stake in the company and would advocate for pushing the business toward an e-commerce focus.

From there, Reddit's WallStreetBets group began championing the stock as a potential target for a hugeshort squeeze. Social media users noticed that enormous short interest had amassed against GameStop -- and that a massive run for the stock could potentially be generated through a bit of favorable news and coordinated buying.

Prior to the first major short squeeze, GameStop had about 50 million shares of its stock outstanding. At the same time, roughly 70 million shares of the company's stock had been sold short -- meaning that investors had placed bets against more shares of the company's stock than actually existed.

Short interest exceeding the company's actual outstanding share count was made possible through a practice callednaked short selling, which allows bets to be placed against shares that haven't actually been borrowed. WallStreetBets members wound up being right about the squeeze, and GameStop bulls notched incredible gains as short-sellers were forced to buy back the stock at elevated levels in hopes of avoiding massive losses.

A combination of continued short-squeeze momentum and indications that the company would be aggressively pursuing its pivot to online retail have added new chapters to the story of GameStop's incredible rally, and it currently stands as one of the best-performing stocks of the year. Cohen has been appointed chairman of a new committee to accelerate the business's online retail push, a bounce for the stock has once again attracted new short interest, and theGameStopsaga rages on.

What's the shelf life of a \"meme stock?\"

A phenomenal surge in retail trading activity has helped bring about the rise of \"meme stocks\" -- a name given to equities that see huge momentum after gaining favor in online discussion communities. Sometimes these stocks wind up seeing big gains just by virtue of being the fad, or meme, of the moment, but many investors are now trading these companies solely on volatility and with no real concern for fundamentals.

GameStop is the reigning king of the meme stocks, and it could see more big gains with additional squeeze momentum. But what about the actual business and the online retail pivot?

GameStop has struggled for years as video game software sales have moved to digital channels, and the company has a lengthy history of failed growth bets under its belt.

Trying to move into smartphone and mobile service retail was a bust, as was its push into selling other non-gaming tech hardware. Hinging a big part of its growth story on geek culture merchandise (think T-shirts andFunko's character figurines) didn't really pan out either. Efforts to move into video game software development and subscription service packages were duds, and recent experiments with turning some of its stores into esports social hubs seem unlikely to become a real growth driver.

Previous efforts to boost the company's online retail footprint were also somewhat underwhelming. We're just living in it.GameStop(NYSE:GME)has to be 2021's most interesting stock. The video game retailer started to pick up momentum ahead of the launch of new game consoles fromSonyandMicrosoftlast year, and over the past two months, short-squeeze mania and other big developments have led to incredible swings for the the company's share price.GameStop's stock climbed as high as $483 per share during the height of short-squeeze mania. While the stock briefly returned to trading in the range of $50 per share, it's bounced back once again and traded at $201.75 at Thursday's close. That price represents a 971% increase year to date and a 4,715% increase from the $4.19 share price the stock had one year ago.Why is GameStop surging, and what comes next? How did we get here? The start of GameStop's improbable, supercharged rally can be traced back to the introduction of Sony's PlayStation 5 console and Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S platforms in 2020. New console launches have historically led to a cyclical upcycle for GameStop's business and stock performance.Pricing momentum created by the new hardware launches was further intensified by news that activist investor andChewyco-founder Ryan Cohen was amassing a large stake in the company and would advocate for pushing the business toward an e-commerce focus. From there, Reddit's WallStreetBets group began championing the stock as a potential target for a hugeshort squeeze. Social media users noticed that enormous short interest had amassed against GameStop -- and that a massive run for the stock could potentially be generated through a bit of favorable news and coordinated buying.Prior to the first major short squeeze, GameStop had about 50 million shares of its stock outstanding. At the same time, roughly 70 million shares of the company's stock had been sold short -- meaning that investors had placed bets against more shares of the company's stock than actually existed.Short interest exceeding the company's actual outstanding share count was made possible through a practice callednaked short selling, which allows bets to be placed against shares that haven't actually been borrowed. WallStreetBets members wound up being right about the squeeze, and GameStop bulls notched incredible gains as short-sellers were forced to buy back the stock at elevated levels in hopes of avoiding massive losses.A combination of continued short-squeeze momentum and indications that the company would be aggressively pursuing its pivot to online retail have added new chapters to the story of GameStop's incredible rally, and it currently stands as one of the best-performing stocks of the year. Cohen has been appointed chairman of a new committee to accelerate the business's online retail push, a bounce for the stock has once again attracted new short interest, and theGameStopsaga rages on.What's the shelf life of a \"meme stock?\"A phenomenal surge in retail trading activity has helped bring about the rise of \"meme stocks\" -- a name given to equities that see huge momentum after gaining favor in online discussion communities. Sometimes these stocks wind up seeing big gains just by virtue of being the fad, or meme, of the moment, but many investors are now trading these companies solely on volatility and with no real concern for fundamentals.GameStop is the reigning king of the meme stocks, and it could see more big gains with additional squeeze momentum. But what about the actual business and the online retail pivot?GameStop has struggled for years as video game software sales have moved to digital channels, and the company has a lengthy history of failed growth bets under its belt.Trying to move into smartphone and mobile service retail was a bust, as was its push into selling other non-gaming tech hardware. Hinging a big part of its growth story on geek culture merchandise (think T-shirts andFunko's character figurines) didn't really pan out either. Efforts to move into video game software development and subscription service packages were duds, and recent experiments with turning some of its stores into esports social hubs seem unlikely to become a real growth driver.Previous efforts to boost the company's online retail footprint were also somewhat underwhelming. It's possible that the company is finally ready to emerge as a leaner, more effective e-commerce business, and the company's appointment of Cohen to steer the pivot is encouraging. However, GameStop will have to manage the ongoing decline of its brick-and-mortar business and incur substantial expenses as its moves away from that segment and ramps up its e-commerce initiatives. As the stock emerges from short-squeeze and meme-stock mania, the business is going to have to deliver an incredible series of wins in order to justify its current market capitalization of roughly $14 billion. The odds aren't in GameStop's favor, but it's shaping up to be an incredible story either way.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":361,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3553738446199611","authorId":"3553738446199611","name":"猴腮雷","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/666a70d07d548fd44b6ddb467cdc1dff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3553738446199611","authorIdStr":"3553738446199611"},"content":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","text":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","html":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":363405530,"gmtCreate":1614160746920,"gmtModify":1704888885612,"author":{"id":"3559491919395544","authorId":"3559491919395544","name":"Fifikong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c24e3e2777a7302e37c5fd70f63f668","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559491919395544","authorIdStr":"3559491919395544"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hopefully can recover my cost in this position ?","listText":"Hopefully can recover my cost in this position ?","text":"Hopefully can recover my cost in this position ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/363405530","repostId":"2113356373","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":447,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":384806113,"gmtCreate":1613634413832,"gmtModify":1704882956707,"author":{"id":"3559491919395544","authorId":"3559491919395544","name":"Fifikong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c24e3e2777a7302e37c5fd70f63f668","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559491919395544","authorIdStr":"3559491919395544"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting. The man knows how to spot a bargain.

Below is a screen of stocks inspired by Buffett’s two new picks that feature attractive dividend yields that are expected to be well-covered by free cash flow.

Word of Buffett’s new investment positions can send shares higher as other investors’ ears perk up. This happened after Berkshire Hathaway Inc.BRKdisclosed late Feb. 16 that it had purchased shares of Verizon Communications Inc.VZ.and Chevron Corp.CVX— two stocks with attractive dividend yields, one of which is cheaply priced when compared to the weighted valuation of the S&P 500 IndexSPX.

Shares of Verizon were up 3% in early trading Feb. 17, while Chevron was up 3.5%. With dividends reinvested, Verizon had declined 7% for 2021 through Feb. 16, following a flat performance in 2020. Chevron was up 1.5% early Feb. 17 and had already risen 12% for 2021 following a 26% decline in 2020. Oil is on the upswing as investors look ahead to life after the pandemic. West Texas Intermediate crude oilCRUDE OILhad risen 68% from the close on Oct. 31 through Feb. 16, when it settled at $60.05 a barrel.

All of the following is based on closing prices Feb. 16 and consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the next 12 months.

Verizon’s stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 10.7, compared to a weighted aggregate forward P/E of 22.5 for the S&P 500. The shares have a dividend yield of 4.64%.

One way to gauge a company’s ability to cover its dividend (and hopefully raise it) is to look at its free cash flow, which is its remaining cash flow after planned capital expenditures. This is money that can be used for any corporate purpose, including expansion, share repurchases or dividend increases. We can measure a company’s free cash flow yield by dividing trailing or estimated free cash flow by the current share price. Because of the disruptions to the U.S. economy in 2020, all the free cash flow yields that follow make use of consensus estimates for the next 12 reported months.

Verizion’s forward free cash flow yield is 8.97%, showing “headroom” of 4.34% over the current dividend.

Chevron’s stock trades at a forward P/E ratio of 24.8, which is higher than that of the S&P 500. Then again, 2021 is expected to be a recovery year for oil and natural gas, and analysts’ earnings estimates may not have caught up with rising fuel commodity prices. Chevron’s dividend yield is 5.54% and its forward free cash flow yield is 7.99%, leaving “headroom” of 2.45%.

None of this is to say that Buffett is overly fixated on stocks with high dividend yields. He isn’t. Among the publicly traded holdings the company disclosed Feb. 16, there are plenty of companies that pay no dividends, including Amazon.com Inc.AMZN,Biogen Inc.BIIB,Charter Communications Inc.CHTRand General Motors Co.GM,which suspended its quarterly dividend in April.

A Buffett dividend stock screen

Working from Buffett’s selections of Verizon and Chevron and excluding stocks Berkshire Hathaway doesn’t already hold, here are the 22 stocks among the S&P 500 with dividend yields of at least 4.00%, for which free cash flow estimates for calendar 2021 are available, with headroom indicated. The list is sorted by dividend yield.

Scroll the table to see all the data, including forward P/E ratios and total returns for 2021 and 2020.

For real estate investment trusts, the industry standard for measuring dividend-paying ability is funds from operations, a non-GAAP figure that adds depreciation and amortization back to earnings and subtracts gains on the sale of property. So forward FFO estimates are used in the “estimated FCF yield” column on the table.

The list excludes four stocks already held by Berkshire Hathaway — Verizon, Chevron and two more:

AbbVie Inc.ABBVhas a dividend yield of 4.99%, with a forward free cash flow yield of 10.54% for headroom of 5.55%.

Kraft Heinz Co.KHChas a dividend yield of 4.52% and a forward free cash flow yield of 7.59% for headroom of 3.06%. The company cut its dividend by more than a third in February 2019.

A high dividend yield might indicate investors are sour on the company’s business prospects or its ability to maintain the dividend over the long term, despite a high FCF yield. For example, the highest-yielding stock on the list is Lumen Technologies Inc.LUMN,which was CenturyLink before it was renamed in September. The dividend yield is 8.48%. CenturyLinkcut its quarterly dividend by 26% on the same day it authorized a $2 billion stock repurchase planin February 2013. The company’s quarterly dividend remained 54 cents a share until it wascut to the current 25 cents a sharein February 2019. For five years through Feb. 16, shares of Lumen/CenturyLink were down 34%, with dividends reinvested, while they were down 38% for 10 years.

Other companies on the list that have cut dividends over the past 10 years include Williams Cos.WMB,Kinder Morgan Inc.KMI,Vornado Realty TrustVNOand Simon Property Group Inc.SPG,which reduced its payout by 38% in June.

All of this emphasizes the importance of doing your own research to form your own opinion about a company’s long-term prospects if you see any stocks of interest here.

Aside from CenturyLink, the stock listed above with the lowest forward P/E valuation is AT&T Inc.T,with a dividend yield of 7.18% and P/E of 9.2, followed by Pfizer Inc.PFE,with a yield of 4.50% and forward P/E of 10.3.
","source":"market_watch","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Among the publicly traded holdings the company disclosed Feb. 16, there are plenty of companies that pay no dividends, including Amazon.com Inc.AMZN,Biogen Inc.BIIB,Charter Communications Inc.CHTRand General Motors Co.GM,which suspended its quarterly dividend in April.A Buffett dividend stock screenWorking from Buffett’s selections of Verizon and Chevron and excluding stocks Berkshire Hathaway doesn’t already hold, here are the 22 stocks among the S&P 500 with dividend yields of at least 4.00%, for which free cash flow estimates for calendar 2021 are available, with headroom indicated. The list is sorted by dividend yield.Scroll the table to see all the data, including forward P/E ratios and total returns for 2021 and 2020.For real estate investment trusts, the industry standard for measuring dividend-paying ability is funds from operations, a non-GAAP figure that adds depreciation and amortization back to earnings and subtracts gains on the sale of property. So forward FFO estimates are used in the “estimated FCF yield” column on the table. The list excludes four stocks already held by Berkshire Hathaway — Verizon, Chevron and two more:AbbVie Inc.ABBVhas a dividend yield of 4.99%, with a forward free cash flow yield of 10.54% for headroom of 5.55%.Kraft Heinz Co.KHChas a dividend yield of 4.52% and a forward free cash flow yield of 7.59% for headroom of 3.06%. The company cut its dividend by more than a third in February 2019.A high dividend yield might indicate investors are sour on the company’s business prospects or its ability to maintain the dividend over the long term, despite a high FCF yield. 16, shares of Lumen/CenturyLink were down 34%, with dividends reinvested, while they were down 38% for 10 years.Other companies on the list that have cut dividends over the past 10 years include Williams Cos.WMB,Kinder Morgan Inc.KMI,Vornado Realty TrustVNOand Simon Property Group Inc.SPG,which reduced its payout by 38% in June. All of this emphasizes the importance of doing your own research to form your own opinion about a company’s long-term prospects if you see any stocks of interest here.Aside from CenturyLink, the stock listed above with the lowest forward P/E valuation is AT&T Inc.T,with a dividend yield of 7.18% and P/E of 9.2, followed by Pfizer Inc.PFE,with a yield of 4.50% and forward P/E of 10.3.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":377,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3553738446199611","authorId":"3553738446199611","name":"猴腮雷","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/666a70d07d548fd44b6ddb467cdc1dff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3553738446199611","authorIdStr":"3553738446199611"},"content":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","text":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","html":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":384803676,"gmtCreate":1613634077895,"gmtModify":1704882952756,"author":{"id":"3559491919395544","authorId":"3559491919395544","name":"Fifikong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c24e3e2777a7302e37c5fd70f63f668","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559491919395544","authorIdStr":"3559491919395544"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Awesome good news for Boeing","listText":"Awesome good news for Boeing","text":"Awesome good news for Boeing","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/384803676","repostId":"1132808405","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1132808405","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1613626853,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1132808405?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-02-18 13:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Boeing 737 MAX back in European skies","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1132808405","media":"AFP","summary":"[BRUSSELS] The Boeing 737 MAX made its first commercial flight in Europe on Wednesday since being gr","content":"
[BRUSSELS] The Boeing 737 MAX made its first commercial flight in Europe on Wednesday since being grounded for 22 months following two deadly crashes.
\n
Belgium's TUI fly said a 737 MAX was used on a flight from Brussels to Alicante and then Malaga in Spain.
\n
The flight took off at 0830 GMT and landed two hours later in Malaga, according to the site flightradar24.
\n
Europe's air safety regulator EASA approved the return of the 737 MAX on January 27, two months after the US regulator cleared the aircraft to resume operations.
\n
The MAX was grounded in March 2019 after 346 people died in two crashes - the 2018 Lion Air disaster in Indonesia and an Ethiopian Airlines crash the following year.
\n
Investigators said a main cause of both crashes was a faulty flight handling system known as the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, or MCAS.
\n
Meant to keep the plane from stalling as it ascends, the automated system instead forced the nose of the plane downward.
\n
Boeing was forced to revamp the system and implement new pilot training protocols.
\n
Commercial flights with the 737 MAX resumed on December 9 with Brazilian airline Gol, then in the US and Canada.
\n
The 737 MAX was a big hit with airlines, becoming Boeing's fastest-selling aircraft until its grounding in 2019. We heard stories of fortunes made and lost. The ones we didn’t hear were from the folks in-between — small retail traders and investors who suffered thousands of dollars (or more) in losses.
\n
For those still holding GME or AMC, or for those eager to pounce on the next volatile meme stock, I offer the following advice based on personal experience and observations. These are the lessons you must know before you ever get involved in the stock or options market (or if you are holding a winning stock or option):
\n
1. Don’t sell stocks or options on products you don’t own:The traders who lost the most money in GameStop and AMC were those who sold “naked” calls and puts (i.e. they sold options on stocks they didn’t own), or those who sold shares short (again, they sold shares on a stock they didn’t own). When using this extremely risky strategy, you can make a fortune if you’re right. If you’re wrong, the losses can be incalculable. In reality, some unwary traders lost tens of thousands of dollars last week on positions that cost a few thousand dollars. Once again, don’t sell anything naked unless you’re a professional, and in this case even the pros lost big on that risky bet.
\n
2. Sell at the “zero point.” Here’s a rule I created: If you have huge gains that disappear and you are at the zero point (i.e. break-even), sell before you have real losses. It’s better to walk away at zero than with losses.
\n
3. Don’t be a stubborn seller:Why is it so hard for most traders to walk away at the zero point? Stubbornness. Many traders made huge gains last week only to watch those profits disappear. They refused to sell because they hoped to make their money back. If holding options, that’s not going to happen. (If you bought at or near the high, your money is gone. If you hold a stock, plan to wait months or even years to recover. Stubborn stockholders often end up as “stuckholders.”
\n
4. Take the money and run:When you are holding a stock or option position that brings outsized profits, either sell half of your holding or all of it — but get out. I call this “selling at extremes.” Sell something when the profits are beyond your wildest expectations. We all know the story of the gambler who wins big at the casino, but doesn’t leave the table until all his money is gone. Know when to walk away from the computer. Profits are fleeting, especially when volatility skyrockets.
\n
5.Trade small when making longshot trades (i.e. gambling):GameStop and AMC were both big gambles, and for a time the trade worked if you were long. But if you bet wrong? I spoke to a few of these traders. One lost $8,000 on a single option contract. If he had traded his normal size (30 contracts), he told me, his losses would have been more than $240,000.
\n
6. Don’t expect this trading frenzy to keep happening:It’s possible that a group of traders on the Reddit forum will band together for more bear- or bull raids. Except Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Fed Chair Jerome Powell are most likely creating new rules to prevent this from repeating. The Fed hates volatility and will do everything in its power to keep the markets calm. So once again, when you make big money on a trade, take the money as fast as you can — because you may not get the chance again.
\n
7. Stop bragging about how much money you made: Many traders who won big immediately bragged on social media (and to their jealous friends) about how much money they made on this trade. Yet the euphoric feeling they had was temporary. It usually goes away after all the money is gone. The smart (and polite) traders took their gains and kept the win to themselves
\n
8. Use a time stop:Time stops are not well-known or popular, but with fast-moving stocks (or when trading options), they are invaluable. In an extremely fast market, the traditional stop-limit order won’t get filled, as many of those meme-stock traders found out the hard way. Instead, after making a huge profit, set a day or time to sell. For example, you may sell the position by Friday no matter what (although selling at extremes is better — see Rule #4).
\n
9. Sell half or all of the position:It’s never an easy decision to know when to sell. If you sell too early, it’s annoying to watch the stock go higher. Sell too late and you lose money. Selling half of your holding is a reasonable alternative, but you must be prepared to sell the other half if the position goes against you.
\n
10. Don’t seek revenge when you lose money on a stock:It’s common for traders to seek revenge on a stock they lost money on. Do not fall for this emotional trap. If you lost money on a stock, let it go and move on.
\n
11. Trade small after you made or lost big:If you’re feeling emotional about a stock, including feelings of anger or revenge, trade small. Many people who hit it big in the market can’t help but make bigger and bigger bets. Just like the gamblers at a casino, they keep trading until all their money is gone.
\n
You don’t think it can happen to you? One of the greatest speculators in the world, Jesse Livermore, made $100 million dollars in a single week in 1929. He then lost all of his money within five years. He should have moved most of his profits out of the market after his big win and traded small for the next year. Instead, he got reckless and lost it all.
\n
12. Don’t take on too much risk:Never invest or trade with so much money that if you lost, you’d lose your house or 401(k). Brokers told me about clients who cleared out their retirement funds or took cash advances on their credit cards so they could buy GameStop and AMC. Some won, some lost, but many took on way too much risk.
\n
The meme-stock pyramid scheme
\n
Those who traded GameStop, AMC and other meme stocks thought they were trading, but they were actually participating in a gigantic pyramid scheme. Those who got in early and got out early probably did well. Those who entered late or held too long lost money.
\n
My advice: Review these 12 rules periodically. They are based on the experiences and the bad luck of thousands of other traders, including myself, who thought we were smarter than the market. In truth the market was smarter than us — because it always is.
","source":"market_watch","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These 12 lessons from the GameStop and AMC frenzy can help you make money trading stocks (or at least lose less)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese 12 lessons from the GameStop and AMC frenzy can help you make money trading stocks (or at least lose less)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-02-09 17:52 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
I can hear the cries from investors who racked up huge profits in GameStop or AMC Entertainment Holdings for a few hours or days, only to watch their gains evaporate.\nThis coordinated bull raid was ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".DJI":"道琼斯","GME":"游戏驿站",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index","AMC":"AMC院线"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/these-12-lessons-from-the-gamestop-and-amc-frenzy-can-help-you-make-money-trading-stocks-or-at-least-lose-less-11612771522?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/599a65733b8245fcf7868668ef9ad712","article_id":"1149038980","content_text":"I can hear the cries from investors who racked up huge profits in GameStop or AMC Entertainment Holdings for a few hours or days, only to watch their gains evaporate.\nThis coordinated bull raid was initiated by thousands of retail investors on Reddit, a popular website forum. We heard stories of fortunes made and lost. The ones we didn’t hear were from the folks in-between — small retail traders and investors who suffered thousands of dollars (or more) in losses.\nFor those still holding GME or AMC, or for those eager to pounce on the next volatile meme stock, I offer the following advice based on personal experience and observations. These are the lessons you must know before you ever get involved in the stock or options market (or if you are holding a winning stock or option):\n1. Once again, don’t sell anything naked unless you’re a professional, and in this case even the pros lost big on that risky bet.\n2. Sell at the “zero point.” Here’s a rule I created: If you have huge gains that disappear and you are at the zero point (i.e. break-even), sell before you have real losses. Over the past 12 months, Pinterest shares are up 239%.\nLast week, Pinterest reported it added 100 million new users in 2020 , and posted 76% growth in year-over-year quarterly revenue.\nA deal would have likely been Microsoft's largest acquisition ever, about twice as big as its $26 billion purchase of LinkedIn in 2016, but also likely would have drawn scrutiny by antitrust regulators.\nMicrosoft shares $(MSFT)$ are up 9% year to date, and up 31% over the past year, compared to a 6% annual gain by the Dow Jones Industrial Average , of which it is a component.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":453,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3553738446199611","authorId":"3553738446199611","name":"猴腮雷","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/666a70d07d548fd44b6ddb467cdc1dff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3553738446199611","authorIdStr":"3553738446199611"},"content":"you are the god","text":"you are the god","html":"you are the god"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":359362832,"gmtCreate":1616357634026,"gmtModify":1704793036364,"author":{"id":"3559491919395544","authorId":"3559491919395544","name":"Fifikong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c24e3e2777a7302e37c5fd70f63f668","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559491919395544","authorIdStr":"3559491919395544"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"The frenzy is still ongoing","listText":"The frenzy is still ongoing","text":"The frenzy is still ongoing","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":7,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/359362832","repostId":"1143733672","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1143733672","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616152692,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1143733672?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-19 19:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why Is Everyone (Still) Talking About GameStop Stock?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1143733672","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"It's a GameStop world.

\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The man knows how to spot a bargain.Below is a screen of stocks inspired by Buffett’s two new picks that feature attractive dividend yields that are expected to be well-covered by free cash flow.Word of Buffett’s new investment positions can send shares higher as other investors’ ears perk up. This happened after Berkshire Hathaway Inc.BRKdisclosed late Feb. 16 that it had purchased shares of Verizon Communications Inc.VZ.and Chevron Corp.CVX— two stocks with attractive dividend yields, one of which is cheaply priced when compared to the weighted valuation of the S&P 500 IndexSPX.Shares of Verizon were up 3% in early trading Feb. 16 and consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the next 12 months.Verizon’s stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 10.7, compared to a weighted aggregate forward P/E of 22.5 for the S&P 500. The shares have a dividend yield of 4.64%.One way to gauge a company’s ability to cover its dividend (and hopefully raise it) is to look at its free cash flow, which is its remaining cash flow after planned capital expenditures. This is money that can be used for any corporate purpose, including expansion, share repurchases or dividend increases. We can measure a company’s free cash flow yield by dividing trailing or estimated free cash flow by the current share price. Because of the disruptions to the U.S. economy in 2020, all the free cash flow yields that follow make use of consensus estimates for the next 12 reported months.Verizion’s forward free cash flow yield is 8.97%, showing “headroom” of 4.34% over the current dividend.Chevron’s stock trades at a forward P/E ratio of 24.8, which is higher than that of the S&P 500. Then again, 2021 is expected to be a recovery year for oil and natural gas, and analysts’ earnings estimates may not have caught up with rising fuel commodity prices. Chevron’s dividend yield is 5.54% and its forward free cash flow yield is 7.99%, leaving “headroom” of 2.45%.None of this is to say that Buffett is overly fixated on stocks with high dividend yields. He isn’t. Among the publicly traded holdings the company disclosed Feb. All of this emphasizes the importance of doing your own research to form your own opinion about a company’s long-term prospects if you see any stocks of interest here.Aside from CenturyLink, the stock listed above with the lowest forward P/E valuation is AT&T Inc.T,with a dividend yield of 7.18% and P/E of 9.2, followed by Pfizer Inc.PFE,with a yield of 4.50% and forward P/E of 10.3.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":377,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3553738446199611","authorId":"3553738446199611","name":"猴腮雷","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/666a70d07d548fd44b6ddb467cdc1dff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3553738446199611","authorIdStr":"3553738446199611"},"content":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","text":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]","html":"[Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost] [Lost]"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":372380951,"gmtCreate":1619177621373,"gmtModify":1704720822221,"author":{"id":"3559491919395544","authorId":"3559491919395544","name":"Fifikong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8c24e3e2777a7302e37c5fd70f63f668","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559491919395544","authorIdStr":"3559491919395544"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Will he becomes the next PM? ?","listText":"Will he becomes the next PM? ?","text":"Will he becomes the next PM? ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/372380951","repostId":"1143062408","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1143062408","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1619162341,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1143062408?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-04-23 15:19","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Names Wong as New Finance Minister in Cabinet Shake-Up","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1143062408","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Lawrence Wong was named Singapore’s next finance minister in a cabinetreshuffleFriday, boosting his ","content":"
Lawrence Wong was named Singapore’s next finance minister in a cabinetreshuffleFriday, boosting his prominence as the city-state reboots its leadership transition plan.
\n
The appointment follows Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat’s surprise announcement about two weeks ago that he’sstepping asideas the designated successor to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong within the People’s Action Party, which has led the country since independence.
It’s better to walk away at zero than with losses.\n3. Stubborn stockholders often end up as “stuckholders.”\n4. Profits are fleeting, especially when volatility skyrockets.\n5.Trade small when making longshot trades (i.e. gambling):GameStop and AMC were both big gambles, and for a time the trade worked if you were long. But if you bet wrong? I spoke to a few of these traders. One lost $8,000 on a single option contract. If he had traded his normal size (30 contracts), he told me, his losses would have been more than $240,000.\n6. So once again, when you make big money on a trade, take the money as fast as you can — because you may not get the chance again.\n7. Stop bragging about how much money you made: Many traders who won big immediately bragged on social media (and to their jealous friends) about how much money they made on this trade. Yet the euphoric feeling they had was temporary. It usually goes away after all the money is gone. The smart (and polite) traders took their gains and kept the win to themselves\n8. For example, you may sell the position by Friday no matter what (although selling at extremes is better — see Rule #4).\n9. Sell half or all of the position:It’s never an easy decision to know when to sell. If you sell too early, it’s annoying to watch the stock go higher. Sell too late and you lose money. Selling half of your holding is a reasonable alternative, but you must be prepared to sell the other half if the position goes against you.\n10. Don’t seek revenge when you lose money on a stock:It’s common for traders to seek revenge on a stock they lost money on. Do not fall for this emotional trap. If you lost money on a stock, let it go and move on.\n11. Trade small after you made or lost big:If you’re feeling emotional about a stock, including feelings of anger or revenge, trade small. Many people who hit it big in the market can’t help but make bigger and bigger bets. Just like the gamblers at a casino, they keep trading until all their money is gone.\nYou don’t think it can happen to you? One of the greatest speculators in the world, Jesse Livermore, made $100 million dollars in a single week in 1929. He then lost all of his money within five years. He should have moved most of his profits out of the market after his big win and traded small for the next year. Instead, he got reckless and lost it all.\n12. Don’t take on too much risk:Never invest or trade with so much money that if you lost, you’d lose your house or 401(k). Brokers told me about clients who cleared out their retirement funds or took cash advances on their credit cards so they could buy GameStop and AMC. Some won, some lost, but many took on way too much risk.\nThe meme-stock pyramid scheme\nThose who traded GameStop, AMC and other meme stocks thought they were trading, but they were actually participating in a gigantic pyramid scheme. Those who got in early and got out early probably did well. Those who entered late or held too long lost money.\nMy advice: Review these 12 rules periodically. They are based on the experiences and the bad luck of thousands of other traders, including myself, who thought we were smarter than the market.
