The American depositary shares slumped 20% in Tuesday’s session, and now trade 15% lower than the $14 they were sold at in the IPO. Didi’s offering was the second-largest U.S.-listing for a Chinese firm on record. The company has lost over $17 billion of market value so far this week, including about $15 billion on Tuesday alone.
\n
“The Chinese government has made it very clear that they act in what they believe to be their own best interests,” said Steve Sosnick, chief strategist at Interactive Brokers. “This doesn’t rule out the idea that one could or should invest in China, it just changes the risk premium that is required.”
\n
Regulators in Beijing are planning rule changes that would allow them to block a Chinese company from listing overseas even if the unit selling shares is incorporated outside China, shutting off a route long-used by the country’s technology giants, according to people familiar with the matter.
\n
The China Securities Regulatory Commission is leading efforts to revise rules on overseas listings that have been in effect since 1994, said the people, asking not to be identified discussing a private matter. The proposed changes, which are subject to approval by the State Council, could also impact companies that have already gone public using the so-called Variable Interest Entity model, the people said.
\n
In another blow to the stock, two U.S. shareholder lawsuits were filed in federal court in New York and Los Angeles late Tuesday. The suits claim the company failed to disclose ongoing talks it was having with Chinese authorities about its compliance with cybersecurity laws and regulations. Several executives and directors, including Chief Executive Officer Will Wei Cheng, as well as lead underwriters Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co. are named as defendants.
\n
Didi didn’t respond to a request for comment. The American depositary shares slumped 20% in Tuesday’s session, and now trade 15% lower than the $14 they were sold at in the IPO. Didi’s offering was the second-largest U.S.-listing for a Chinese firm on record. The company has lost over $17 billion of market value so far this week, including about $15 billion on Tuesday alone.\n“The Chinese government has made it very clear that they act in what they believe to be their own best interests,” said Steve Sosnick, chief strategist at Interactive Brokers. “This doesn’t rule out the idea that one could or should invest in China, it just changes the risk premium that is required.”\nRegulators in Beijing are planning rule changes that would allow them to block a Chinese company from listing overseas even if the unit selling shares is incorporated outside China, shutting off a route long-used by the country’s technology giants, according to people familiar with the matter.\nThe China Securities Regulatory Commission is leading efforts to revise rules on overseas listings that have been in effect since 1994, said the people, asking not to be identified discussing a private matter. The proposed changes, which are subject to approval by the State Council, could also impact companies that have already gone public using the so-called Variable Interest Entity model, the people said.\nIn another blow to the stock, two U.S. shareholder lawsuits were filed in federal court in New York and Los Angeles late Tuesday. The suits claim the company failed to disclose ongoing talks it was having with Chinese authorities about its compliance with cybersecurity laws and regulations. Several executives and directors, including Chief Executive Officer Will Wei Cheng, as well as lead underwriters Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase & Co. are named as defendants.\nDidi didn’t respond to a request for comment. The newest additions possess a distinctly different tone, adopting the theme of prominent criticisms that have been levied against the company.\nThe first, \"Strive to be Earth's Best Employer,\" calls on leaders to \"work every day to create a safer, more productive, higher performing, more diverse, and more just work environment.\"\nIt's in line with what CEO Jeff Bezos laid out in his final letter to shareholders earlier this year, wherein he acknowledged Amazon needs to do a better job for employees. Amazon has faced routine criticism from employees who say it has cultivated a brutal workplace culture, with tensions rising to a head in April amida failed unionization voteat one of its Alabama warehouses.\nAnother addition, \"Success and Scale Bring Broad Responsibility,\" highlights how Amazon's status as the world's largest online retailer and cloud computing company brings with it new challenges.\n\"We started in a garage, but we're not there anymore,\" the new principle states. \"We are big, we impact the world, and we are far from perfect. We must be humble and thoughtful about even the secondary effects of our actions.\"\nAmazon faces mounting pressure from regulators and lawmakers around the world over whether it's unfairly wielding its size and influence against competitors.\nAmazon hasn't updated its list of leadership principlessince 2015, when it added a 14th principle, \"Learn and Be Curious.\"\nThe decision could be one of Bezos' last acts as CEO. Heis set to formally step downas chief executive on July 5, turning the helm over to cloud computing boss Andy Jassy. Bezos will transition to executive chairman of Amazon's board, giving him more time to focus on \"new products and early initiatives,\" hewrote in an emailto Amazon's employees in February.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":324,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156042677,"gmtCreate":1625188117699,"gmtModify":1703737908379,"author":{"id":"3559792151176304","authorId":"3559792151176304","name":"JunRen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3d3c721545ff997512f265d7363c9799","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559792151176304","idStr":"3559792151176304"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yay","listText":"Yay","text":"Yay","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/156042677","repostId":"1121657128","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1121657128","pubTimestamp":1625184962,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1121657128?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-02 08:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cathie Wood bought shares of this recent China IPO every day this week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1121657128","media":"CNBC","summary":"Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood has a newly public Chinese technology stock on her radar.\nWood purchased 98","content":"
\n
Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood has a newly public Chinese technology stock on her radar.\nWood purchased 985,579 shares ofKanzhunin theARK Next Generation Internet ETFandARK Autonomous Technology and ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Automotive, electric vehicles requiring more memory and storage — actually becoming data centers on wheels in the future — and certainly smartphones, data centers, gaming, industrial applications\" are all contributing to increased need for chips, Mehrotra said on \"TechCheck.\" \"We really see a healthier and more robust demand environment than ever.\"\nMicron — which makes memory chips used for data storage, smartphones and a range of other computing devices — reported better-than-expected quarterly sales and profit on Wednesday. Its fourth-quarter revenue guidance also topped analyst projections.\nThe chipmaker forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $8.2 billion, plus or minus $200 million, while analysts on average were expecting $7.87 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.\nIn its fiscal third quarter, Micron's revenue jumped 36% to $7.42 billion, when Wall Street had been looking for $7.24 billion, according to Refinitiv. Per-share earnings of $1.88, excluding items, beat forecasts of $1.72.\nThe pandemic has resulted in a \"digital transformation acceleration,\" Mehrotra said, and a pronounced shortage of semiconductors that's rippled across the global economy. On Wednesday, for example,Ford Motorannounced another round of production delaysstemming from the chip crunch.\nHowever, higher prices due to the supply squeezes and the Covid-era shift to remote work have helped Micron.\nGoing forward, Mehrotra expects further tailwinds for the company sparked by technological shifts in areas such as wireless networks. He said 5G technology, particularly in smartphones, artificial intelligence, intelligent edge and smart user devices, have been key sources for demand growth since they all require more data memory and storage.\nDespite the optimistic outlook, Mehrotra said the company is being \"extremely prudent\" in its approach to fabrication plants and capacity. \"We want to grow our supply in line with the long-term demand trends,\" the CEO said.\nBut at the moment, he said, Micron inventories are \"running very lean,\" with the company expecting industry shortages lasting through the end of this year and into 2022. \"The shortages, as they get alleviated, will continue to open up pent-up demand, as well,\" he said.\nShares of Micron closed down 5.7% on Thursday to $80.11 apiece. It has benefited from the pandemic-induced global shift toward remote work as demand for laptops and other electronic devices soared.
\n
In prepared remarks, Micron Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said the company expects industry-wide supplies of both kinds of chips to remain tight until the end of next year, keeping prices high.
\n
“We believe Micron’s strong financial performance will continue cross-cycle, and over the long term, our revenue growth will outperform the broader semiconductor industry,” Mehrotra said.
\n
The company’s revenue for the third quarter ended June 3 rose 36% to $7.42 billion, beating estimates of $7.24 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
\n
Excluding items, the company earned $1.88 per share in the quarter, above estimates of $1.72.
\n
The company also said it will sell a plant in Lehi, Utah, to Texas Instruments Inc. Micron said it expects to get about $1.5 billion for the plant, $900 million of which will be in cash and $600 million of which will be in the value of tools it can either sell to outsiders or move to its other factories. Micron had said it would sell the Utah facility, which it shared with Intel Corp, under a joint venture formed nearly a decade ago, as part of a broader technology strategy shifthere.
\n
The company took an impairment charge of $435 million because the $900 million in cash was below the book value of the factory, but Chief Business Officer Sumit Sadana told Reuters in an interview that the factory was on track to generate almost $500 million in losses this year because it was underutilized.
\n
Micron also said that its capital expenditures for fiscal 2021 would rise above $9.5 billion, partly driven by pre-payments as it starts to acquire extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) machines from Dutch maker ASML Holding NV. It has benefited from the pandemic-induced global shift toward remote work as demand for laptops and other electronic devices soared.\nIn prepared remarks, Micron Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said the company expects industry-wide supplies of both kinds of chips to remain tight until the end of next year, keeping prices high.\n“We believe Micron’s strong financial performance will continue cross-cycle, and over the long term, our revenue growth will outperform the broader semiconductor industry,” Mehrotra said.\nThe company’s revenue for the third quarter ended June 3 rose 36% to $7.42 billion, beating estimates of $7.24 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.\nExcluding items, the company earned $1.88 per share in the quarter, above estimates of $1.72.\nThe company also said it will sell a plant in Lehi, Utah, to Texas Instruments Inc. Micron said it expects to get about $1.5 billion for the plant, $900 million of which will be in cash and $600 million of which will be in the value of tools it can either sell to outsiders or move to its other factories. Micron had said it would sell the Utah facility, which it shared with Intel Corp, under a joint venture formed nearly a decade ago, as part of a broader technology strategy shifthere.\nThe company took an impairment charge of $435 million because the $900 million in cash was below the book value of the factory, but Chief Business Officer Sumit Sadana told Reuters in an interview that the factory was on track to generate almost $500 million in losses this year because it was underutilized.\nMicron also said that its capital expenditures for fiscal 2021 would rise above $9.5 billion, partly driven by pre-payments as it starts to acquire extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) machines from Dutch maker ASML Holding NV. The machines are necessary for making the most cutting-edge chips but can cost more than $100 million each.\nThe company stretched out its use of cheaper chipmaker techniques as long as it could but will start using the EUV machines in production in 2024, officials said.\n“EUV is a very big and important tool in the manufacturing line. And EUV itself is a tool that has a long lead time for manufacturing from ASML. The orders have to be placed just about now,” Sadana said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":361,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151787224,"gmtCreate":1625107331468,"gmtModify":1703736297402,"author":{"id":"3559792151176304","authorId":"3559792151176304","name":"JunRen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3d3c721545ff997512f265d7363c9799","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559792151176304","idStr":"3559792151176304"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/151787224","repostId":"1138844735","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1138844735","pubTimestamp":1625104578,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1138844735?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-01 09:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Micron Tops Estimates; Will Sell Utah Fab to TI for $1.5 Billion","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1138844735","media":"thestreet","summary":"Micron Technology (MU), the semiconductor powerhouse, reported fiscal-third-quarter net income per s","content":"
Micron Technology (MU), the semiconductor powerhouse, reported fiscal-third-quarter net income per share more than doubled on 36% higher revenue.
\n
The quarterly figures -- and the fourth-quarter outlook -- were stronger than Wall Street analysts' estimates.
\n
The company also said it would sell a Lehi, Utah, fabrication plant to Texas Instruments (TXN) for $1.5 billion.
\n
And earlier in the day, Micron was upgraded to outperform from market perform at BMO Capital Markets. Automotive, electric vehicles requiring more memory and storage — actually becoming data centers on wheels in the future — and certainly smartphones, data centers, gaming, industrial applications\" are all contributing to increased need for chips, Mehrotra said on \"TechCheck.\" \"We really see a healthier and more robust demand environment than ever.\"\nMicron — which makes memory chips used for data storage, smartphones and a range of other computing devices — reported better-than-expected quarterly sales and profit on Wednesday. The stock is up more than 6% year to date.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":462,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156073026,"gmtCreate":1625188382665,"gmtModify":1703737914977,"author":{"id":"3559792151176304","authorId":"3559792151176304","name":"JunRen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3d3c721545ff997512f265d7363c9799","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559792151176304","idStr":"3559792151176304"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yeah","listText":"Yeah","text":"Yeah","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/156073026","repostId":"1175807186","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1175807186","pubTimestamp":1625185179,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1175807186?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-02 08:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Amazon sets a new tone as Jeff Bezos era comes to an end","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1175807186","media":"CNBC","summary":"Amazon on Thursday added two new entriesto its vaunted \"leadership principles,\" a list of more than ","content":"
\n
Amazon on Thursday added two new entriesto its vaunted \"leadership principles,\" a list of more than a dozen business philosophies meant to guide employee decisions and goals.\nMany of Amazon's ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The newest additions possess a distinctly different tone, adopting the theme of prominent criticisms that have been levied against the company.\nThe first, \"Strive to be Earth's Best Employer,\" calls on leaders to \"work every day to create a safer, more productive, higher performing, more diverse, and more just work environment.\"\nIt's in line with what CEO Jeff Bezos laid out in his final letter to shareholders earlier this year, wherein he acknowledged Amazon needs to do a better job for employees. Bezos will transition to executive chairman of Amazon's board, giving him more time to focus on \"new products and early initiatives,\" hewrote in an emailto Amazon's employees in February.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":324,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":147830874,"gmtCreate":1626348020098,"gmtModify":1703758360882,"author":{"id":"3559792151176304","authorId":"3559792151176304","name":"JunRen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3d3c721545ff997512f265d7363c9799","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559792151176304","idStr":"3559792151176304"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"yay","listText":"yay","text":"yay","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/147830874","repostId":"1131130245","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1131130245","pubTimestamp":1626340636,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1131130245?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-15 17:17","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla's Powerwall Backlog Exceeds Production Capacity, Musk Says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1131130245","media":"Thestreet","summary":"Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk says his company has a backlog of 80,000 orders, valued at more than","content":"
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk says his company has a backlog of 80,000 orders, valued at more than $500 million, for its Powerwall home solar-energy-storage system.
\n
But Musk also said Tesla can produce only 30,000 to 35,000 Powerwalls this quarter.
