what SDNL is doing is called Market Consolidation. As Canada has legalized Marijuana like some decade ago(?), it leads to massive market entrance. Internationally it operates like a Bank in US exploiting the scenario legit banks can't loan to cannabis companies to fund their business - so it is the only "bank" monopolizing the entire US market hence it is reaching out to as many strategic targets as as many as it can. If a company can't repay, SNDL could seize the assets and potentially this is a very low cost acquisition - a strategic move to rapidly reduce market competition which leads to commanding betterprice (in 10 years maybe) hence its margin. By acquiring more assets it also expands its distribution channel and increases market reach. S

Auto makers’ capital is limited, while a new assembly plant, tooling, and a battery facility with capacity to make roughly 500,000 EVs a year costs roughly $8 billion. It spends roughly half that on new plants and equipment.</p><p>The $100 billion includes markets outside of the U.S., and most of the money goes to support car companies’ existing businesses. If auto makers don’t renew their products, they can suddenly find themselves with no cash flow to fund capital projects.</p><p>Investors might assume that capital for new lithium or copper capacity could be a hurdle too, but that isn’t really the case. Lithium demand, and production, would need to increase roughly sixfold instead of fivefold over the coming decade to meet a more aggressive adoption goal.</p><p>That would cost only another $5 billion to $8 billion in capital—significant money but not a staggering amount. The mining industry is a lot smaller than the auto industry and the material is available to be dug up.</p><p>Investors might also assume that regulations are what determine EV adoption rates, but the historical record points in another direction. The Model 3 brought popular EVs to the masses, with sales of about 3.5 million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, built on the same platform, over the life of the program.</p><p>It took Tesla about five years to do that, from mid-2017 to early 2023. Between 2010 and 2020, Nissan (7201. Japan) sold about 500,000 Leaf EVs around the globe, meaning that Tesla sold 7.5 times the vehicles in half the time.</p><p>The point is that consumer buy what they like. EVs will only represent 50% or 67% of new car sales if they are better cars.</p><p>Things are trending in that direction, but there is some distance to go. Today, EVs cost a little more up front, but they are cheaper to maintain and power. And there are other ways to play the EV trend no matter where EVs’ share of the market winds up in 2032.The effort, which marks the third element in a push by President Joe Biden, is nothing if not aggressive, but it is likely to run into trouble in terms of its sheer costs. Consumers’ tastes and the need for charging infrastructure are additional challenges.In August 2021, Biden got the U.S. car industry to agree that lifting EVs’ share of new-car sales to 50% by 2030 was doable. A year later, Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, which included tax credits for people who buy EVs. The latest move came Wednesday, when the Environmental Protection Agency proposed strict emission standards for the 2027 to 2032 vehicle model years.Car companies will have to sell far more zero-emission vehicles to comply.The auto industry’s initial reaction runs along the lines of “Hey, what gives?” Car makers seeking to meet the 50% goal are already investing hundreds of billions of dollars in developing EVs and building capacity to crank out batteries and assemble the cars.That is the first hurdle to the EPA/Biden EV plan. Auto makers’ capital is limited, while a new assembly plant, tooling, and a battery facility with capacity to make roughly 500,000 EVs a year costs roughly $8 billion. It also takes a couple of years to complete that infrastructure and ramp up output.Hitting Biden’s 50% EV goal requires roughly $120 billion in capital spending dedicated to EVs. The 67% goal calls for about $160 billion.The extra $40 billion might not seem like a stretch, but the auto industry doesn’t exactly print money. The entire industry, outside of China, generates about $200 billion in cash from operations in a good year. It spends roughly half that on new plants and equipment.The $100 billion includes markets outside of the U.S., and most of the money goes to support car companies’ existing businesses. If auto makers don’t renew their products, they can suddenly find themselves with no cash flow to fund capital projects.Investors might assume that capital for new lithium or copper capacity could be a hurdle too, but that isn’t really the case. Lithium demand, and production, would need to increase roughly sixfold instead of fivefold over the coming decade to meet a more aggressive adoption goal.That would cost only another $5 billion to $8 billion in capital—significant money but not a staggering amount. The mining industry is a lot smaller than the auto industry and the material is available to be dug up.Investors might also assume that regulations are what determine EV adoption rates, but the historical record points in another direction. While EVs were on sale before Tesla, no one really cared. The Model 3 brought popular EVs to the masses, with sales of about 3.5 million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, built on the same platform, over the life of the program.It took Tesla about five years to do that, from mid-2017 to early 2023. Between 2010 and 2020, Nissan (7201. Japan) sold about 500,000 Leaf EVs around the globe, meaning that Tesla sold 7.5 times the vehicles in half the time.The point is that consumer buy what they like. EVs will only represent 50% or 67% of new car sales if they are better cars.Things are trending in that direction, but there is some distance to go. Today, EVs cost a little more up front, but they are cheaper to maintain and power. Batteries are getting cheaper; a decline of roughly 40% from today’s levels would mean EVs cost the same as internal-combustion cars.“Cheap batteries are important, but adequate recharging infrastructure is probably a more important issue in terms of adoption,” said Nicholas Colas, a co-founder of DataTrek Research and former auto analyst.Charging is the third hurdle. According to Colas, the average American drives about twice as much as the average European, so the U.S. will need more EV chargers that Western Europe.Investors shouldn’t get too wound up about the 67% goal. “The more relevant thing is what do [EPA rules] do to the rate of change,” said Baird auto analyst Luke Junk.Junk says a faster shift toward EVs is possible, which would be a good thing for parts suppliers that support the EV transition. Aptiv (APTV), TE Connectivity (TEL) and BorgWarner (BWA), he said, are suppliers that will do fine at a slower EV adoption pace and better if adoptions accelerates. He rates shares of all three at Buy.Junk also raised some potential unintended consequences of the EPA goal.For one, more investment to make more EVs faster will leave less capital available for developing self-driving cars. That is a negative for commuters who want to text and drive.There is a positive too. More EVs in the U.S. would mean the U.S. moves closer to European regulations. Building a network of merchants willing to accept PayPal as a payment method is costly and time-consuming. However, now that the significant part of that expansion is behind it, investors are starting to see profitability expanding.</p><p>While it might take a considerable time for Paypal&#39;s stock price to reach and eclipse its previous high, the company offers investors an excellent risk-return trade-off at its current price. Indeed, at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 15.29, PayPal&#39;s stock is a bargain.</p><h2><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/STNE\">StoneCo</a> has incredible rebound potential</h2><p><b>Keith Noonan</b>: StoneCo (STNE) is one of Brazil&#39;s leading payment processors for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The company has continued to onboard new merchant partners, increase total payment volume conducted through its platform, and grow revenue at encouraging rates. But there&#39;s a big catch that has resulted in its valuation being crushed: The fintech also started offering loans for SMBs, and results on that front have been disastrous.</p><p>Not only were some economic headwinds impacting the Brazilian market, but StoneCo was also relying on the country&#39;s national registry system to determine whether applicants were creditworthy. Unfortunately, Brazil&#39;s national registry proved to have major flaws, and the company wound up relying on underwriting standards that led to lots of bad debt in its loan portfolio. Most of those loans have now been discharged or sold off to third parties at basement-level prices, but the company still has roughly $91.5 million in bad loans on its books.</p><p>Amid these challenges and the broader valuation pullback for growth stocks, StoneCo stock trades down roughly 90% from its high.</p><p>The remaining bad loans will likely have to be written off and, admittedly, put a dent in StoneCo&#39;s near-term financial outlook, but the situation should also be viewed in context. With a market cap of roughly $2.9 billion, losing that money isn&#39;t going to break the company, and the business generated roughly $31.4 million in non-GAAP (adjusted) net income in its last reported quarter.</p><p>Crucially, the company&#39;s payment-processing business continues to look quite strong. That matched estimates, but data for the prior month were revised higher.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7d925adec993b119d2564714cf84878a\" tg-width=\"930\" tg-height=\"523\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/></p><p>From a year earlier, the gauge was up 4.7%, a step down from a 5% gain in October. The overall PCE price index increased 0.1% and was up 5.5% from a year ago, the lowest since October 2021 but still well above the central bank’s 2% goal.</p><p>Personal spending, adjusted for changes in prices, stalled in November, the weakest since July and below forecast. An increase in services spending, led by restaurants and accommodation, offset a decline in outlays on merchandise. New vehicles were the leading contributor of that decrease.</p><p>Like the consumer price index figures released earlier this month, the figures point to a welcome retreat in price pressures and suggest the US has passed peak inflation. While many expect to see a rapid pullback in inflation over the next year, the Fed is ultimately aiming for a 2% goal.</p><p>Powell emphasized that last week when he said the central bank needs “substantially more evidence” to have confidence that inflation is on a sustained downward path.</p><blockquote>“Robust wage income and real income suggest the labor market has yet to cool meaningfully, and officials are unlikely to view this report as convincing enough to cause them to back off from a terminal fed funds rate above 5%.”</blockquote><blockquote>— Anna Wong and Eliza Winger, economists</blockquote><p>Looking ahead, the central bank is expected to continue raising interest rates into next year — to a higher level than many investors had expected — and remain restrictive for some time. As for the size of any February rate hike, Powell said the decision will be based on incoming data, like Friday’s figures and others for December to be released throughout next month.</p><p>“It seems reasonable to expect people to become more cautious, now that they have run down about half of their accumulated pandemic savings, and labor market conditions are softening,” Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said in a note.</p><p>While he sees consumption expanding at a robust pace in the current quarter, “we would be amazed if that pace is repeated in the first quarter of next year,” Shepherdson said.</p><p>The median estimates in a Bloomberg survey of economists were for a 0.2% advance in the core PCE price index and a 0.1% gain in inflation-adjusted spending. US stock futures fluctuated in early trading while Treasury yields bounced higher.</p><h2>Consumer Weakness</h2><p>The report indicates that consumers lost momentum last month amid higher interest rates and elevated inflation. While the strength of the jobs market and rising wages have bolstered household spending, Americans are tapping into savings and leaning more on credit cards, raising the question of whether consumers will be able to continue to drive economic growth through 2023.</p><p>The saving rate ticked up to 2.4% in November, the first increase since July but among the lowest readings on record, the Commerce Department report showed.</p><p>Inflation-adjusted outlays for merchandise dropped 0.6%, the worst since February, while spending on services rose 0.3%.</p><p>Many economists expect the US to fall into recession within the next year, but the outlook remains highly uncertain. That said, economic activity has generally accelerated in the second half of the year. Data out Thursday showed gross domestic product rose an annualized 3.2% in the third quarter, higher than previously estimated.</p><h2>Wage Gains</h2><p>Rising wages and lower gas prices gave many Americans the wherewithal to keep spending in November. Inflation-adjusted disposable income rose 0.3%. Wages and salaries, unadjusted for prices, were up 0.5% for a second month.</p><p>Sustained wage gains, particularly in service sectors, could keep inflation persistently higher than the Fed’s goal for some time, underscoring the importance of the labor market to officials’ decision-making in the months ahead.</p><p>More generally, economists expect the PCE price indexes to decelerate slower than the Labor Department’s consumer price index. By the end of next year, Fed officials anticipate core PCE inflation to be around 3.5%.</p><p>In addition to the softer consumer spending figures, a separate report showed more moderate demand for business equipment. Orders placed with US manufacturers for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft rose 0.2% in November after a sharp downward revision to the prior month, according to Commerce Department. Total bookings for durable goods sank 2.1%, the most since April 2020. He added that consumers will likely absorb the cost increases since &#34;streaming represents an extraordinary value in general for the consumer.&#34;</p><p>Apple announced its price increases on Monday, which affect various services including Apple TV+, Apple Music, and the Apple One Bundle. This is the first time Apple has raised the subscription prices of those offerings in the U.S., and international markets will see similar price increases.</p><p>Apple Music will now cost $10.99 for an individual plan (an increase of $1), and the family plan will go up by $2 a month to $16.99. Pricing for competitor Spotify (SPOT) currently starts at $9.99 a month.</p><p>Apple TV+ will see a price increase of $2 to $6.99 a month, while the Apple One bundle, which includes subscriptions to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+, will raise prices by $2 a month to $16.95.</p><p>Apple noted that the change to Apple Music is due to an increase in licensing costs. As a result, artists and songwriters will earn more for the streaming of their music.</p><p>The stock, which is down more than 15% year-to-date, traded higher on Monday following the news. Meanwhile, Warner Music Group (WMG) surged on the announcement, jumping by more than 13% at one point on Monday.</p><p>In regards to Apple TV+, the company wrote: &#34;We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies.
