stock.
\n
Qualtrics, which was spun out of SAP SE earlier this year and remains majority-controlled by the German software company, makes software that helps companies gather feedback from customers about their experiences with products and services.
\n
Most of Provo, Utah-based Qualtrics' software uses online surveys to gather that feedback directly from customers.
\n
Qualtrics said Reston, Virgina-based Clarabridge augments that capability by gathering feedback indirectly. Clarabridge's software uses artificial intelligence to comb indirect sources like social media posts and customer support calls for information about how customers felt about their experience with a brand.
\n
\"Customers, employees, they're sharing feedback about companies everywhere. They're doing on social media, they're doing it on support calls, they're doing it on chats, they're doing it in product reviews - everywhere,\" Qualtrics Chief Executive Zig Serafin told Reuters in an interview.
\n
Serafin said that the key to Clarabridge's technology is its ability to understand human language. For example, it can detect not just that a customer on a support chat is upset, but how intensely upset the customer is - which can help the company decide which steps to take to remedy the problem.
\n
\"What it does is it takes the category that we've been building to the next level,\" Serafin said.
\n
The $1.125 billion acquisition price will be paid via fixed number of Qualtrics' class A shares at $37.33 per share, slightly below Qualtrics closing price of $39.81 per share on Wednesday.
\n
Qualtrics said that privately held Clarabridge had about $100 million in annual revenue, with a sales growth rate of about 25%.
\n
Founded in 2006, Clarabridge raised about $125 million in venture capital prior to the deal from investors including General Catalyst, Summit Ventures and Boulder Ventures, according to Crunchbase.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Qualtrics to acquire Clarabridge for $1.1 bln in stock
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nQualtrics to acquire Clarabridge for $1.1 bln in stock\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Reuters
\n
2021-07-30 08:26
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
July 29 (Reuters) - Qualtrics International Inc on Thursday said it would acquire privately held Clarabridge for $1.1 billion in stock.
But concern at the rapid spread of new variants tempered enthusiasm. \"With an even larger stimulus package likely to be passed by Congress before the end of March, the U.S. economic recovery could gain more momentum in 2021,\" wrote Commonwealth Bank of Australia currency analyst Carol Kong. \"Despite the recent positive vaccine developments, the global economic outlook remains uncertain partly because of the spreading virus variants.\" On Wall Street, technology stocks faced some pressure on inflation concerns, driving down the Nasdaq while other companies rose on broader economic optimism. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.03% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.58%. But while investors eyed inflation, minutes from the January Fed meeting showed policymakers willing to push further accommodation to boost the pandemic-scarred U.S. economy. Persistent optimism spread to the U.S. dollar, which rose against other currencies. The dollar index, a measure of the currency's strength against six other major currencies was last 0.25% higher . The risk-on appetite was also apparent in bitcoin, which continued its upward march to exceed $52,000 amid signs it may be gaining more mainstream acceptance. An ongoing deep freeze in Texas continued to drive up oil prices, as the unusually cold weather hampered output at the largest U.S. crude producing state. Brent crude gained 1.6%, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate $(WTI)$ crude settled up 1.8%, both levels not seen since January 2020. Safe-haven U.S. Treasury yields were down slightly Wednesday amid the stronger economic data. The benchmark 10-year yield , which touched 1.333%, its highest level since Feb. 27, 2020, later dropped to 1.2720%. The 30-year U.S. yield also dropped. Spot gold edged 0.2% lower to $1,815.80 per ounce pressured by higher benchmark U.S. Treasury yields. U.S. gold futures fell 0.4% to $1,815.70 per ounce. <^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Global assets Global currencies vs. dollar Emerging markets MSCI All Country World Index Market Cap ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^>(Reporting by Pete Schroeder; risk of transmission of the virus, results of a UK study found on Friday.
\n
Researchers analysed results from thousands of COVID-19 tests carried out each week as part of hospital screenings of healthcare staff in Cambridge, eastern England.
\n
“Our findings show a dramatic reduction in the rate of positive screening tests among asymptomatic healthcare workers after a single dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine,” said Nick Jones, an infectious diseases specialist at Cambridge University Hospital, who co-led the study.
\n
After separating the test results from unvaccinated and vaccinated staff, Jones’ team found that 0.80% tests from unvaccinated healthcare workers were positive.
\n
This compared with 0.37% of tests from staff less than 12 days post-vaccination - when the vaccine’s protective effect is not yet fully established - and 0.20% of tests from staff at 12 days or more post-vaccination.
\n
The study and its results have yet to be independently study.
\n
The level of asymptomatic infection was also halved in those vaccinated for less than 12 days, he said.
\n
Britain has been rolling out vaccinations with both the Pfizer COVID-19 shot and one from AstraZeneca since late December 2020.
\n
“This is great news – the Pfizer vaccine not only provides protection against becoming ill from SARS-CoV-2, but also helps prevent infection, reducing the potential for the virus to be passed on to others,” Weeks said. “But we have to remember that the vaccine doesn’t give complete protection for everyone.”
\n
Key real-world
