Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) is scheduled to release its first-quarter results Monday, after the market close.

Key Q1 Metrics to Watch For: Tesla is expected to report non-GAAP earnings per share, or EPS, of 79 cents in the first quarter of 2021, up sharply from 23 cents in the year-ago quarter.

The consensus revenue forecast for the quarter is at $10.29 billion, up 72% year-over-year.

In the fourth quarter, Tesla had earned 80 cents per share on a non-GAAP basis on revenues of $10.74 billion.

Tesla revealed in early April it delivered a record 184,800 vehicles in the first quarter, comprising 182,780 Model 3/Y vehicles and 2,020 Model S/X vehicles. This represents a 109% year-over-year increase and 2.2% sequential growth. Quarterly production was at 180,338.

Focus On Regulatory Credits, Automotive Margins: The focus is likely to be on regulatory credits, which accounted for 4.3% of its revenues in the fourth quarter of 2020. Zero-emission vehicle regulations adopted by several states allow EV manufacturers to earn regulatory credits, which can be monetized by selling to legacy automakers, who are not able to achieve the minimum target set for the proportion of green energy vehicles sold.

Automotive gross margin slipped to 24.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020 from 27.7% in the previous quarter. It's likely the company could see a further moderation in margins, as production of the higher priced Model S/X vehicles was stalled in the quarter to allow for model refreshes.

View more earnings on TSLA

With competitive pressure intensifying, Tesla could aggressively slash vehicles prices in order to achieve volume production targets, long-time Tesla bear Gordon Johnson said in a note previewing the quarterly results.

Tesla investors may also be keen to find out more about the company's Bitcoin investment strategy and its decision to allow the use of Bitcoin for vehicle purchases.

Forward Outlook: Tesla is well positioned to capitalize on the opportunity presented by the exponential growth that is anticipated for green energy vehicles. Its Giga Shanghai factory is now churning out both Model S and Model Y vehicles, and more capacity is expected to come on line with the opening of factories in Berlin and Texas.

Tesla's CFO Zach Kirkhorn said on the earnings call that the company is shooting for a 50% compounded annual growth rate in volume sales and expects to materially exceed the target in 2021.

Stock Take: Tesla's shares, which were flying high until early February, joined the tech sell-off that ensued. From a split-adjusted high of $900.40 on Jan. 25, the stock fell to $539.49 on March 5, a peak-to-trough decline of 40%.

Although the stock has made good some of the losses since then, it is yet to break above $800 level.

Tesla holds a several-year lead and is now expanding aggressively into storage, and therefore a premium valuation for its shares is justified, CANACCORD Genuity analyst Jed Dorsheimer said in a recent note. The firm has a $1,071 price target for the stock.

Friday, Tesla's shares ended 1.35% higher at $729.40.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What to Expect From Tesla's Q1 Earnings Report On Monday
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhat to Expect From Tesla's Q1 Earnings Report On Monday\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Benzinga
\n
2021-04-25 10:38
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n

EV giant Tesla, Inc.

However, the automakers later said they were not in talks with Apple.\n\nApple CEO Tim Cook hinted at the company’s work in autonomous vehicles, following recent reports that the company is in renewed talks to develop its own car.\n“The autonomy itself is a core technology, in my view. If you sort of step back, the car, in a lot of ways, is a robot. An autonomous car is a robot. And so there’s lots of things you can do with autonomy. And we’ll see what Apple does,” Cook said in an interview released Monday with Kara Swisher on the “Sway” podcast.\n“We investigate so many things internally. Many of them never see the light of day. I’m not saying that one will not,” Cook added.\nWhen asked if Apple was working on a car itself or the technology within a car, Cook declined to comment.\n“We love to integrate hardware, software, and services, and find the intersection points of those because we think that’s where the magic occurs. And so that’s what we love to do. And we love to own the primary technology that’s around that,” he said.\nApple has long been expected to get into the auto business with its own vehicle or selling its technology to other car makers, and has made a number of moves indicating it planned to do so. Helping bolster its engineering ranks, the company acquired autonomous vehicle startup Drive.ai in 2019.\nAn autonomous vehicle could position the company against Tesla, which is rolling out its own self-driving features. In 2018, Apple hired back Doug Field, then Tesla’s senior vice president of engineering, to presumably work on self-driving cars. Apple has also brought in several other former Tesla employees, including former Tesla vice president of engineering Michael Schwekutsch, now senior director of engineering for the Special Projects Group at Apple.\nTesla CEO Elon Musk had even said last year that he once tried to start talks to sell the company to Apple, but Cook declined to take a meeting.\n“You know, I’ve never spoken to Elon, although I have great admiration and respect for the company he’s built. I think Tesla has done an unbelievable job of not only establishing the lead, but keeping the lead for such a long period of time in the EV space. So I have great appreciation for them,” Cook told Swisher.\nMost recently,CNBC reported that Apple was close to finalizing a deal with Hyundai-Kia to manufacture an Apple-branded autonomous electric vehicle at the Kia assembly plant in West Point, Georgia. In the past week, it has turned into a flood, helping to push the price of Bitcoin to a record of $48,297 on Thursday.

The most buzzworthy move came from Tesla (ticker: TSLA), which disclosed on Monday that it hasbought $1.5 billion worth of Bitcointo hold on its balance sheet. The company plans to let consumers use the currency to pay for cars.

But Tesla isn’t the only one. On Thursday, BNY Mellon (BK), the oldest bank in the U.S.,said it will hold and transfer cryptocurrencies for customers. “Growing client demand for digital assets, maturity of advanced solutions, and improving regulatory clarity present a tremendous opportunity for us to extend our current service offerings to this emerging field,” said Roman Regelman, the bank’s CEO of asset servicing and head of digital.

Mastercard (MA) said on Wednesday that it will let merchants accept some cryptocurrencies through its network later this year. The payments will be converted to traditional money before it enters the companies’ systems.Twitter(TWTR) is also considering a Bitcoin investment. And Square (SQ) has already put some on its balance sheet, as well as given users of its Cash App access to buy the cryptocurrency.

Why is this happening now? Cryptocurrencies are still not particularly useful outside of a very few cases, such as cross-border transactions. Even there, they haven’t fully taken hold.

There are at least four big reasons corporations are diving in.

One is that some company founders believe in Bitcoin. Their excitement about the asset has convinced them that their companies need to be involved, or have cryptocurrency investments, even if Bitcoin isn’t really the core of their operations. That appears to be the case for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, and for a software company calledMicrostrategyand its CEO, Michael Saylor.

Microstrategy, whose entire market capitalization was below $1 billion early last year, now owns more than $2 billion of Bitcoin, and its market cap is now just under $10 billion. Saylor toldBarron’s in an interview last yearthat he sees Bitcoin as a hedge against monetary debasement and inflation.

Square CEO Jack Dorsey ‘s fascination with Bitcoin also likely sped Square’s adoption. He has spoken about his interest in the currency for years.

Tesla’s purchase of Bitcoin is strong marketing for the company and the currency, said Dan Morehead, founder of the crypto hedge fund Pantera Capital. But it won’t likely change the way Bitcoin is used. “Tesla sells a half a million cars a year,” he said. “If they sold 4% in Bitcoin, I’d be surprised.” Morehead thinks Bitoin’s growing use for cross-border payments is much more exciting from a practical perspective.

Other companies are getting into Bitcoin because of customer demand. That appears to be the case for BNY Mellon, which is not known for making risky bets on new technologies. It could stay out of the industry altogether, but more institutional investors are buying Bitcoin and need somewhere to put it.

And the infrastructure around Bitcoin has grown, so that it now more closely resembles the systems used in the rest of the world of finance.. Big companies now insure cryptocurrencies or—as in the case ofJPMorgan Chase(JPM)—offer services to cryptocurrency businesses, even if most still don’t hold Bitcoin on their own balance sheets.

A third reason is increasing government acceptance of the trend. BNY cited greater regulatory clarity around Bitcoin as one reason it is diving in. The U.S. government has taken a mostly laissez-faire approach to regulating digital assets even as many of the illegal activities that cryptocurrency has been associated with in the past have continued. Without at least the tacit approval of regulators, crypto couldn’t have landed on the balance sheets of so many companies.

A fourth reason cryptocurrencies are gaining hold in corporate boardrooms is that they serve multiple purposes. That gives corporations several different rationales to hold the coins, or offer related services. Cryptocurrencies have the potential to go well beyond Bitcoin’s initial premise as a way to send money without financial intermediaries. So-called stablecoins, whose value is meant to track fiat currencies, could allow for faster transactions for some kinds of financial services, for instance.

Visa(V) andMasterCardseem like the last places in the world that Bitcoin would take hold given that Bitcoin was created to eliminate the middlemen in finance. Few companies fill the role of middleman as perfectly as the credit-card processors. Visa, however, thinks that cryptocurrencies are useful for many other purposes, and its trusted brand makes it an important player, according to Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at the company.

“We’ve seen growing demand from clients across the world that want to be able to plug in and use these networks, but they want a global, neutral, trusted brand, to help them be able to do that,” Sheffield said in an interview. Visa said last week it has created software that allows bank customers to buy and hold cryptocurrencies through lenders’ websites.

Will old-line financial companies be the biggest beneficiaries of the crypto “revolution”? Michael Venuto, the chief investment officer of Toroso Investments, doesn’t think it will be easy for them to dominate this new world. Toroso created theAmplify Transformational Data SharingETF (ticker: BLOK), which invests in public companies involved in the technology behind Bitcoin.

“In terms of the self-referenced paradox of the old economy accepting the blockchain, it is simply inevitable,” Venuto wrote in an email toBarron’s. “If they don’t explore the blockchain they will be extinct. They understand that, but they are not aware of how big the changes will be or how fast they will happen. They have to evolve, but evolution can be messy.”
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Not Just Tesla: Why Big Companies are Buying into Crypto-Mania
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNot Just Tesla: Why Big Companies are Buying into Crypto-Mania\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-02-12 11:30 GMT+8 barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
For months, there has beena consistent trickle of newsabout mainstream businesses getting involved in cryptocurrencies. Visa, however, thinks that cryptocurrencies are useful for many other purposes, and its trusted brand makes it an important player, according to Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at the company.“We’ve seen growing demand from clients across the world that want to be able to plug in and use these networks, but they want a global, neutral, trusted brand, to help them be able to do that,” Sheffield said in an interview. Toroso created theAmplify Transformational Data SharingETF (ticker: BLOK), which invests in public companies involved in the technology behind Bitcoin.“In terms of the self-referenced paradox of the old economy accepting the blockchain, it is simply inevitable,” Venuto wrote in an email toBarron’s. “If they don’t explore the blockchain they will be extinct. They understand that, but they are not aware of how big the changes will be or how fast they will happen. They have to evolve, but evolution can be messy.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":505,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":388302684,"gmtCreate":1613017565548,"gmtModify":1704877425033,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes! We heard stories of fortunes made and lost. The ones we didn’t hear were from the folks in-between — small retail traders and investors who suffered thousands of dollars (or more) in losses.
\n
For those still holding GME or AMC, or for those eager to pounce on the next volatile meme stock, I offer the following advice based on personal experience and observations. These are the lessons you must know before you ever get involved in the stock or options market (or if you are holding a winning stock or option):
\n
1. Don’t sell stocks or options on products you don’t own:The traders who lost the most money in GameStop and AMC were those who sold “naked” calls and puts (i.e. they sold options on stocks they didn’t own), or those who sold shares short (again, they sold shares on a stock they didn’t own). When using this extremely risky strategy, you can make a fortune if you’re right. If you’re wrong, the losses can be incalculable. In reality, some unwary traders lost tens of thousands of dollars last week on positions that cost a few thousand dollars. Once again, don’t sell anything naked unless you’re a professional, and in this case even the pros lost big on that risky bet.
\n
2. Sell at the “zero point.” Here’s a rule I created: If you have huge gains that disappear and you are at the zero point (i.e. break-even), sell before you have real losses. It’s better to walk away at zero than with losses.
\n
3. Don’t be a stubborn seller:Why is it so hard for most traders to walk away at the zero point? Stubbornness. Many traders made huge gains last week only to watch those profits disappear. They refused to sell because they hoped to make their money back. If holding options, that’s not going to happen. (If you bought at or near the high, your money is gone. If you hold a stock, plan to wait months or even years to recover. Stubborn stockholders often end up as “stuckholders.”
\n
4. Take the money and run:When you are holding a stock or option position that brings outsized profits, either sell half of your holding or all of it — but get out. I call this “selling at extremes.” Sell something when the profits are beyond your wildest expectations. We all know the story of the gambler who wins big at the casino, but doesn’t leave the table until all his money is gone. Know when to walk away from the computer. Profits are fleeting, especially when volatility skyrockets.
\n
5.Trade small when making longshot trades (i.e. gambling):GameStop and AMC were both big gambles, and for a time the trade worked if you were long. But if you bet wrong? I spoke to a few of these traders. One lost $8,000 on a single option contract. If he had traded his normal size (30 contracts), he told me, his losses would have been more than $240,000.
\n
6. Don’t expect this trading frenzy to keep happening:It’s possible that a group of traders on the Reddit forum will band together for more bear- or bull raids. Except Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Fed Chair Jerome Powell are most likely creating new rules to prevent this from repeating. The Fed hates volatility and will do everything in its power to keep the markets calm. So once again, when you make big money on a trade, take the money as fast as you can — because you may not get the chance again.
\n
7. Stop bragging about how much money you made: Many traders who won big immediately bragged on social media (and to their jealous friends) about how much money they made on this trade. Yet the euphoric feeling they had was temporary. It usually goes away after all the money is gone. The smart (and polite) traders took their gains and kept the win to themselves
\n
8. Use a time stop:Time stops are not well-known or popular, but with fast-moving stocks (or when trading options), they are invaluable. In an extremely fast market, the traditional stop-limit order won’t get filled, as many of those meme-stock traders found out the hard way. Instead, after making a huge profit, set a day or time to sell. For example, you may sell the position by Friday no matter what (although selling at extremes is better — see Rule #4).
\n
9. Sell half or all of the position:It’s never an easy decision to know when to sell. If you sell too early, it’s annoying to watch the stock go higher. Sell too late and you lose money. Selling half of your holding is a reasonable alternative, but you must be prepared to sell the other half if the position goes against you.
\n
10. Don’t seek revenge when you lose money on a stock:It’s common for traders to seek revenge on a stock they lost money on. Do not fall for this emotional trap. If you lost money on a stock, let it go and move on.
\n
11. Trade small after you made or lost big:If you’re feeling emotional about a stock, including feelings of anger or revenge, trade small. Many people who hit it big in the market can’t help but make bigger and bigger bets. Just like the gamblers at a casino, they keep trading until all their money is gone.
\n
You don’t think it can happen to you? One of the greatest speculators in the world, Jesse Livermore, made $100 million dollars in a single week in 1929. He then lost all of his money within five years. He should have moved most of his profits out of the market after his big win and traded small for the next year. Instead, he got reckless and lost it all.
\n
12. Don’t take on too much risk:Never invest or trade with so much money that if you lost, you’d lose your house or 401(k). Brokers told me about clients who cleared out their retirement funds or took cash advances on their credit cards so they could buy GameStop and AMC. Some won, some lost, but many took on way too much risk.
\n
The meme-stock pyramid scheme
\n
Those who traded GameStop, AMC and other meme stocks thought they were trading, but they were actually participating in a gigantic pyramid scheme. Those who got in early and got out early probably did well. Those who entered late or held too long lost money.
\n
My advice: Review these 12 rules periodically. They are based on the experiences and the bad luck of thousands of other traders, including myself, who thought we were smarter than the market. In truth the market was smarter than us — because it always is.
","source":"market_watch","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These 12 lessons from the GameStop and AMC frenzy can help you make money trading stocks (or at least lose less)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese 12 lessons from the GameStop and AMC frenzy can help you make money trading stocks (or at least lose less)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-02-09 17:52 GMT+8 MarketWatch\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
I can hear the cries from investors who racked up huge profits in GameStop or AMC Entertainment Holdings for a few hours or days, only to watch their gains evaporate.\nThis coordinated bull raid was ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite","GME":"游戏驿站",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index","AMC":"AMC院线",".DJI":"道琼斯"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/these-12-lessons-from-the-gamestop-and-amc-frenzy-can-help-you-make-money-trading-stocks-or-at-least-lose-less-11612771522?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/599a65733b8245fcf7868668ef9ad712","article_id":"1149038980","content_text":"I can hear the cries from investors who racked up huge profits in GameStop or AMC Entertainment Holdings for a few hours or days, only to watch their gains evaporate.\nThis coordinated bull raid was initiated by thousands of retail investors on Reddit, a popular website forum. In truth the market was smarter than us — because it always is.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":389981678,"gmtCreate":1612664475194,"gmtModify":1704873385788,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Sea Ltd(SE)$???","listText":"$Sea Ltd(SE)$???","text":"$Sea Ltd(SE)$???","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/389981678","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":179,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":389917332,"gmtCreate":1612664080226,"gmtModify":1704873380592,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$???","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$???","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$???","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/389917332","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":102,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":396207295,"gmtCreate":1607104977417,"gmtModify":1704968948234,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Testtinggg","listText":"Testtinggg","text":"Testtinggg","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/396207295","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":387,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3527667803686145","authorId":"3527667803686145","name":"社区成长助手","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2b7c7106b5c0c8b0037faa67439d898f","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3527667803686145","authorIdStr":"3527667803686145"},"content":"Finally, when you first post [compare heart] [compare heart] post, you can get more exposure by related stocks or related topics. That’s a problem for the entire EV sector.

Tesla shares closed down 8.6% Monday at $714.50 a share. That leaves them down almost $186 from the 52-week high of $900.40 they reached in January. That’s a drop of roughly 21%.

It seems odd to say, given that the term is usually applied to broad groups of stocks, but there is a new bear market—a drop of 20% from a high—in Tesla shares.

Of course, Tesla is the 800-pound gorilla in the EV sector. It is worth almost as much as all other traditional car makers combined. And when Tesla stock drops, other EV stocks follow because Wall Street often relies on Tesla’s valuation to come up with price targets.

Monday, shares of three other high-flying EV stocks with significant sales—NIO(NIO),XPeng(XPEV) andLi Auto(LI)—fell roughly 7% to 8%. And since Tesla stock hit its all-time high, NIO, XPeng and Li Auto shares are down roughly 20% on average, just like Tesla.

It looks as if Tesla is the benchmark for EV stocks just like the S&P 500 is the basis for comparison for U.S. stocks. That raises an interesting idea for EV investors: the Tesla version of beta. The beta concept can be thought of, in a sense, as a measure of a stock’s systemic risk. What happens to a market is linked to what happens to an individual stock by that stock’s beta.

If a stock, for instance, has a beta of 2, it would be expected to rise about 2% if the market rose 1%. Beta values aren’t always above 1. Gold-mining companies in theS&P 500,for instance, have a beta of roughly 0.5, so they don’t rise as fast if the broader index goes up.

Investors can interpret the gold beta as saying roughly half of what happens to those golds stock is explained by what happens to the S&P 500, and the other half is due to other factors, such as what’s going on with gold prices.

Beta is just a mathematical calculation. Investors, if they want, can calculate a stock’s beta relative to atmospheric pressure in Central Park. The math has to mean something, though, so no one does that. In the case of EVs, however, the idea of Tesla-as-risk to any EV stock doesn’t feel like a stretch.

The “Tesla beta” of the three Chinese EV stocks—NIO, XPeng and Li—is about 0.5. That can be interpreted, as with gold stocks, as saying about half of what happens to those three shares is a function of what happens to Tesla stock.

It’s an interesting idea. But what is happening to Tesla stock anyway?

It’s all about the potential for higher inflation. Increasing inflation, a growing concern in the market, tends to punish high-growth stocks more than low-growth stocks because of the way financial discount rates work. Most of Tesla’s cash flow comes in future years, and future cash flow is worth less today when interest rates rise.

Monday, many growth stocks took it on the chin. The Nasdaq Composite, known as the home of many fast-growing tech companies, fell 2.5%. Tesla’s beta value relative to the Nasdaq is about 2, so investors shouldn’t be surprised by a 5% drop in Tesla stock.

Tesla shares fell 9%, though. The extra 4% remains a mystery. The news site Electrek reported Tesla stopped taking orders for its lowest-priced Model Y, but high demand for lower-price EV models isn’t really a bad thing.

CEO Elon Musk is also spending a lot of time tweeting about cryptocurrencies. That’s a problem for the entire EV sector.Tesla shares closed down 8.6% Monday at $714.50 a share. That leaves them down almost $186 from the 52-week high of $900.40 they reached in January. That’s a drop of roughly 21%.It seems odd to say, given that the term is usually applied to broad groups of stocks, but there is a new bear market—a drop of 20% from a high—in Tesla shares.Of course, Tesla is the 800-pound gorilla in the EV sector. It is worth almost as much as all other traditional car makers combined. And when Tesla stock drops, other EV stocks follow because Wall Street often relies on Tesla’s valuation to come up with price targets.Monday, shares of three other high-flying EV stocks with significant sales—NIO(NIO),XPeng(XPEV) andLi Auto(LI)—fell roughly 7% to 8%. What happens to a market is linked to what happens to an individual stock by that stock’s beta.If a stock, for instance, has a beta of 2, it would be expected to rise about 2% if the market rose 1%. Beta values aren’t always above 1. Gold-mining companies in theS&P 500,for instance, have a beta of roughly 0.5, so they don’t rise as fast if the broader index goes up.Investors can interpret the gold beta as saying roughly half of what happens to those golds stock is explained by what happens to the S&P 500, and the other half is due to other factors, such as what’s going on with gold prices.Beta is just a mathematical calculation. Most of Tesla’s cash flow comes in future years, and future cash flow is worth less today when interest rates rise.Monday, many growth stocks took it on the chin. The Nasdaq Composite, known as the home of many fast-growing tech companies, fell 2.5%. Tesla’s beta value relative to the Nasdaq is about 2, so investors shouldn’t be surprised by a 5% drop in Tesla stock.Tesla shares fell 9%, though. The extra 4% remains a mystery. The news site Electrek reported Tesla stopped taking orders for its lowest-priced Model Y, but high demand for lower-price EV models isn’t really a bad thing.CEO Elon Musk is also spending a lot of time tweeting about cryptocurrencies. That might be unnerving Tesla investors. His tweeting, however, isn’t really any different than recent history. Musk is famous for his tweeting on lots of topics.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":357,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":346035923,"gmtCreate":1617973200362,"gmtModify":1704705485554,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go go gi","listText":"Go go gi","text":"Go go gi","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/346035923","repostId":"1148743785","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":393,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":346032569,"gmtCreate":1617973166251,"gmtModify":1704705485230,"author":{"id":"3562667144707996","authorId":"3562667144707996","name":"要挣只RMille","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ac9f0aa872066518bf6f522213807c03","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3562667144707996","authorIdStr":"3562667144707996"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/346032569","repostId":"1111192234","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1111192234","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616772179,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1111192234?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-03-26 23:22","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Deliveries Are Coming.

“Growing client demand for digital assets, maturity of advanced solutions, and improving regulatory clarity present a tremendous opportunity for us to extend our current service offerings to this emerging field,” said Roman Regelman, the bank’s CEO of asset servicing and head of digital.Mastercard (MA) said on Wednesday that it will let merchants accept some cryptocurrencies through its network later this year. There are at least four big reasons corporations are diving in.One is that some company founders believe in Bitcoin. Their excitement about the asset has convinced them that their companies need to be involved, or have cryptocurrency investments, even if Bitcoin isn’t really the core of their operations. That appears to be the case for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, and for a software company calledMicrostrategyand its CEO, Michael Saylor.Microstrategy, whose entire market capitalization was below $1 billion early last year, now owns more than $2 billion of Bitcoin, and its market cap is now just under $10 billion. Saylor toldBarron’s in an interview last yearthat he sees Bitcoin as a hedge against monetary debasement and inflation.Square CEO Jack Dorsey ‘s fascination with Bitcoin also likely sped Square’s adoption. He has spoken about his interest in the currency for years.Tesla’s purchase of Bitcoin is strong marketing for the company and the currency, said Dan Morehead, founder of the crypto hedge fund Pantera Capital. But it won’t likely change the way Bitcoin is used. “Tesla sells a half a million cars a year,” he said. “If they sold 4% in Bitcoin, I’d be surprised.” Morehead thinks Bitoin’s growing use for cross-border payments is much more exciting from a practical perspective.Other companies are getting into Bitcoin because of customer demand. That appears to be the case for BNY Mellon, which is not known for making risky bets on new technologies. It could stay out of the industry altogether, but more institutional investors are buying Bitcoin and need somewhere to put it.And the infrastructure around Bitcoin has grown, so that it now more closely resembles the systems used in the rest of the world of finance.. Big companies now insure cryptocurrencies or—as in the case ofJPMorgan Chase(JPM)—offer services to cryptocurrency businesses, even if most still don’t hold Bitcoin on their own balance sheets.A third reason is increasing government acceptance of the trend. BNY cited greater regulatory clarity around Bitcoin as one reason it is diving in. The U.S. government has taken a mostly laissez-faire approach to regulating digital assets even as many of the illegal activities that cryptocurrency has been associated with in the past have continued. Without at least the tacit approval of regulators, crypto couldn’t have landed on the balance sheets of so many companies.A fourth reason cryptocurrencies are gaining hold in corporate boardrooms is that they serve multiple purposes. That gives corporations several different rationales to hold the coins, or offer related services. Cryptocurrencies have the potential to go well beyond Bitcoin’s initial premise as a way to send money without financial intermediaries. So-called stablecoins, whose value is meant to track fiat currencies, could allow for faster transactions for some kinds of financial services, for instance.Visa(V) andMasterCardseem like the last places in the world that Bitcoin would take hold given that Bitcoin was created to eliminate the middlemen in finance. Few companies fill the role of middleman as perfectly as the credit-card processors.
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite","GME":"游戏驿站",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index","AMC":"AMC院线",".DJI":"道琼斯"},"source_url":"https://www.marketwatch.com/story/these-12-lessons-from-the-gamestop-and-amc-frenzy-can-help-you-make-money-trading-stocks-or-at-least-lose-less-11612771522?mod=home-page","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/599a65733b8245fcf7868668ef9ad712","article_id":"1149038980","content_text":"I can hear the cries from investors who racked up huge profits in GameStop or AMC Entertainment Holdings for a few hours or days, only to watch their gains evaporate.\nThis coordinated bull raid was initiated by thousands of retail investors on Reddit, a popular website forum. Don’t expect this trading frenzy to keep happening:It’s possible that a group of traders on the Reddit forum will band together for more bear- or bull raids. Except Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Fed Chair Jerome Powell are most likely creating new rules to prevent this from repeating. The Fed hates volatility and will do everything in its power to keep the markets calm. So once again, when you make big money on a trade, take the money as fast as you can — because you may not get the chance again.\n7. Stop bragging about how much money you made: Many traders who won big immediately bragged on social media (and to their jealous friends) about how much money they made on this trade. Yet the euphoric feeling they had was temporary. It usually goes away after all the money is gone. The smart (and polite) traders took their gains and kept the win to themselves\n8. Use a time stop:Time stops are not well-known or popular, but with fast-moving stocks (or when trading options), they are invaluable. In an extremely fast market, the traditional stop-limit order won’t get filled, as many of those meme-stock traders found out the hard way. Instead, after making a huge profit, set a day or time to sell. For example, you may sell the position by Friday no matter what (although selling at extremes is better — see Rule #4).\n9. Sell half or all of the position:It’s never an easy decision to know when to sell. If you sell too early, it’s annoying to watch the stock go higher. Sell too late and you lose money. Selling half of your holding is a reasonable alternative, but you must be prepared to sell the other half if the position goes against you.\n10. Don’t seek revenge when you lose money on a stock:It’s common for traders to seek revenge on a stock they lost money on. Do not fall for this emotional trap. If you lost money on a stock, let it go and move on.\n11. Trade small after you made or lost big:If you’re feeling emotional about a stock, including feelings of anger or revenge, trade small. Many people who hit it big in the market can’t help but make bigger and bigger bets. Just like the gamblers at a casino, they keep trading until all their money is gone.\nYou don’t think it can happen to you? One of the greatest speculators in the world, Jesse Livermore, made $100 million dollars in a single week in 1929. He then lost all of his money within five years. He should have moved most of his profits out of the market after his big win and traded small for the next year. Instead, he got reckless and lost it all.\n12. Don’t take on too much risk:Never invest or trade with so much money that if you lost, you’d lose your house or 401(k). Brokers told me about clients who cleared out their retirement funds or took cash advances on their credit cards so they could buy GameStop and AMC. Some won, some lost, but many took on way too much risk.\nThe meme-stock pyramid scheme\nThose who traded GameStop, AMC and other meme stocks thought they were trading, but they were actually participating in a gigantic pyramid scheme. Those who got in early and got out early probably did well. Those who entered late or held too long lost money.\nMy advice: Review these 12 rules periodically. They are based on the experiences and the bad luck of thousands of other traders, including myself, who thought we were smarter than the market. In truth the market was smarter than us — because it always is.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
