(NYSE:NYSE:NIO) has had some positive news come out in the last few weeks though this hasn’t prevented the stock from slumping with the rest of the market. The stock is now near its May low of $11.6, but I expect a swift turnaround soon.

From a technical perspective, the stock has reached the ideal retracement after rallying 100% since the low, and this is a good spot to enter a low-risk long near support. Furthermore, fundamentals support NIO’s long-term growth story, and though the company could still see a couple of weak quarters, the stock may have already bottomed.

Good News Is Good News

While stocks continue to be weighed down by the negative macroeconomic sentiment, many companies, like NIO, are still performing well in this environment.

On Saturday, NIO released its monthly and quarterlydelivery update. The company managed to sell 10,878 cars in September, and deliveries for the third quarter grew at a rate of 29.3% year-over-year, with the company setting a record for the quarter.

Most importantly, though, the company sold 2,928 ET7s, which is almost a 27% growth from last quarter and shows that the market has received this model well. The company also began production and distribution of the ET5, of which it sold 221 units.

In more good news, NIO recently acquired12.6% of Greenwing, a company which has a lithium exploration program at the San Jorge Lithium Project in Argentina. NIO also has call options to acquire 20%-40% of Andes Litio, which owns the rights to the Lithium project.

This means that NIO will potentially have its own source of Lithium, which is becoming harder to source. Furthermore, it gives NIO exposure to a different market, making the company more robust and diversified.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that NIO continues its European expansion and will be hosting “NIO Berlin” on October 7, 2022. The company recently built its first battery swap station in the city and has plans to begin selling the ET7in Germany by the end of 2022.

All in all, while the share price has declined, the company’s fundamentals are stronger than ever, which is partly why I believe we are close to a significant rally. The other reason is technical analysis.

NIO Technical Analysis

NIO Technical Analysis(Author's work)

First off, I’d like to point out that NIO rallied 100% from its low in May to its high in July. At the very least, we have to acknowledge the potential NIO has for lucrative trades, and we currently have a low-risk setup for another strong and fast rally.

In my opinion, the rally off the lows was an initial five-wave impulse in a wave 1, and we have seen retraced almost exactly to the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement. This is/was a wave 2, which took the form of an impulsive wave A (five waves down) a corrective wave B (three waves) and a final sell-off in an impulsive wave C.

Though it’s still very early to tell, there’s a good chance we struck the low on Friday, meaning we are set to rally in a wave 3 soon. Of course, in order to confirm this for sure we’d have to rally impulsively past resistance, which sits at around $20. This has historically been an area of high trade, and we can see it’s where the 50- and 200-day MAs are hovering on the 4h chart.

Finally, the RSI on the chart is also nearing oversold, and the MACD looks ready for a bullish crossover.

Risks

With that said, there are some risks to this thesis. As I mentioned above, it’s still early days to call a bottom. If the recent low breaks, I’d expect NIO to head towards the next key Fib level at $13.6. This would be an ideal spot to average down and place a stop-loss just below.

From a fundamental perspective, it’s also true that there are various unknown factors coming into play. Furthermore, fundamentals support NIO’s long-term growth story, and though the company could still see a couple of weak quarters, the stock may have already bottomed.Good News Is Good NewsWhile stocks continue to be weighed down by the negative macroeconomic sentiment, many companies, like NIO, are still performing well in this environment. Furthermore, it gives NIO exposure to a different market, making the company more robust and diversified.Lastly, it is worth mentioning that NIO continues its European expansion and will be hosting “NIO Berlin” on October 7, 2022. The company recently built its first battery swap station in the city and has plans to begin selling the ET7in Germany by the end of 2022.All in all, while the share price has declined, the company’s fundamentals are stronger than ever, which is partly why I believe we are close to a significant rally. The other reason is technical analysis.NIO Technical AnalysisNIO Technical Analysis(Author's work)First off, I’d like to point out that NIO rallied 100% from its low in May to its high in July. This is/was a wave 2, which took the form of an impulsive wave A (five waves down) a corrective wave B (three waves) and a final sell-off in an impulsive wave C.Though it’s still very early to tell, there’s a good chance we struck the low on Friday, meaning we are set to rally in a wave 3 soon. Of course, in order to confirm this for sure we’d have to rally impulsively past resistance, which sits at around $20. This has historically been an area of high trade, and we can see it’s where the 50- and 200-day MAs are hovering on the 4h chart. Finally, the RSI on the chart is also nearing oversold, and the MACD looks ready for a bullish crossover.RisksWith that said, there are some risks to this thesis. We still don’t have enough data on the European expansion. With that said, it’s worth pointing out that the CPCA, China Passenger Car Association, expects NEVs to significantly penetrate the market in the coming quarter. Demand could be accelerated as people try to take advantage of the temporary EV subsidies.TakeawayIn conclusion, I continue to see NIO as a worthwhile long-term play, which now also has a setup for a low-risk entry point for a position or even a short-term trade. EVs are here to stay, and so is NIO.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":183,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9935813894,"gmtCreate":1663063976919,"gmtModify":1676537194646,"author":{"id":"3562979576963766","authorId":"3562979576963766","name":"Snowwhite","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f7b8537e21be09b6dce060ffe87a88e8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Been patience until no patience le 😂","listText":"Been patience until no patience le 😂","text":"Been patience until no patience le 😂","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9935813894","repostId":"1190990790","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1190990790","pubTimestamp":1663049078,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1190990790?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2022-09-13 14:04","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir: Undervalued Stock, But Perspective And Patience Are Required","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1190990790","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"SummaryInvestors are frustrated with Palantir’s first half of 2022 results but are forgetting some k","content":"

Summary

Investors are frustrated with Palantir’s first half of 2022 results but are forgetting some key metrics that indicate the market is overreacting and growth is ahead for the stock.

Palantir is oversold and undervalued, with a much lower price-to-sales ratio and price-to-free cash flow than its competitors.

Leadership has estimated profitability will not be reached until 2025, yet Palantir could be profitable much sooner if government revenue regains growth and SBC continues to decrease.

The bleeding losses of operating income from previous SPAC investments are almost over.

Palantir’s leadership team is determined to grow their business their way and on their own time horizon. Investors must understand this and stay patient.

Thesis:

Palantir Technologies Inc. is an undervalued software stock especially compared to its competition. It has become oversold this past month, losing nearly 22% of its share price in the last month. What's interesting is a lot of the sellingis coming from retail investors, of which shareholder count hasdropped 8%year-over-year, but institutions have increased their holdings bynearly 10%in the same time frame. I believe the reason for this is that the institutions understand how significantly undervalued the company is, how strong their balance sheet is, and are demonstrating consistently high commercial customer growth rates.

DCF from Simply Wall St.

What are the Bears and Bulls Saying About Palantir Stock?Bears Feel Really Smart Right Now

Palantir bears are feeling good right about now, and it is easy to see why. Palantir has been publicly traded for almost two years, and it is 26% lower in share price than the day of its DPO. Palantir bears' main thesis typically is around the company diluting shareholders, which has so far been true, with shareholders being diluted over 28% since the company went DPO. The other two main bear theses that surround Palantir are:

Palantir is a consulting company and most of their revenue is government-dependent. We will discuss further how this may be perceived but is incorrect.

The company is overvalued, not profitable, and now missing their 30% sales growth forecast. The stock does still have bears that are extremely short on the company with the short interest of the stock at nearly 7%.

Bulls are Getting Impatient, Frustrated with Earnings, Concerned About Thesis

Palantir bulls rightfully are frustrated with the company's latest earnings results and are concerned about the stock reaching their initial long-term expectations. This company had retail investors screaming from the rooftops that this is a trillion-dollar market cap stock in the making. Palantir has a very large retail investor following totaling nearly 52% of all shares, and this group of investors has been very vocal on their feelings of disappointment and concern.

All you have to do is search for Palantir articles onSeeking Alpha, check the Reddit boards, type $PLTR in Twitter, or watch the hundreds of videos posted on YouTube about the stock. Now in full transparency, I am a retail investor of Palantir, and this is my number one stock holding. I too have aYouTube Channeland podcast on investing, and over45 videos on the stock, as I am very bullish on the stock.

However, I am very objective in my perspective on this company and am aware of the risks and rewards it could present. My time horizon for this stock is at least 10 to 20yrs, as long as my thesis is intact. Once a thesis is broken, I have to truly reconsider my position in a stock and if it is time to get out. I will share my fair criticisms and risks surrounding this stock but also, why the stock is undervalued at the moment and requires patience and perspective to reap the rewards I believe it will deliver.

How Much Risk Does Palantir Stock Present?

The definition of risk is to have something valued that is exposed to danger, harm, or loss. If Palantir was your only stock that you held in your portfolio, I would agree you have a lot of risk in this stock. However, if you have a well-diversified portfolio, a time horizon longer than five years, and just want to beat the market average in those five-plus years, then there is limited risk in Palantir in my opinion.

Palantir is a stock not for short-term shareholders, nor one for the faint of heart, as it is very volatile, and not for investors who cannot get over the management style of the company. This stock holds a beta of 1.82, meaning when Palantir's stock fluctuates up or down it is almost 2x the size of what the market average is.

This reason, and the lack of profitability Palantir has currently, is why institutional investor holdings are not over 50% just yet. It is also the reason the retail investing community has gotten frustrated from the whiplash their shares have taken. The risks are different for every investor when it comes to Palantir or any stock because everyone's situation is unique. Therefore, it is important to know yourself as an investor why you are investing, understand your risk-tolerance, and when you need the money. If you have patience, can dollar-cost average during a long-term horizon, understand the nature of Palantir's customers, and business model, then you will not consider it risky to be a Palantir shareholder.

I believe the Institutional Investor Community is understanding these things more and more, and as a result, the number of institutional shares held since December 2020 has increased over 3.5x!

Institutional Holdings from Fintel.io

The Ugly

Let me begin by saying I was disappointed by the Q2 2022 earnings results, considering the revenue they achieved was what they said their base case was for Q2 expectations during Q1. Palantir also made this their third quarter in a row missing analysts' expectations on earnings. I don't care who you are in the stock market, three misses in a row never provide analysts or investors additional confidence in your company.

I also was not a fan of how leadership conducted themselves on the earnings call, getting short with those asking questions and sharing that some of their customers do not even like them but must use them because their product is that good. It is one thing to be overly confident or even slightly arrogant on an earnings call if you are exceeding all expectations, but it is a totally different one when performance has been consistently declining in different areas.

Management dropped their commitment for 30% annual growth in 2022 and dropped a bomb on investors whenCEO Alex Karp said2025 is when the company will reach profitability. The company is growing their government revenue 13% year-over-year, but this metric has decreased five quarters in a row, leaving much concern for investors. Palantir also had to take a loss of over $135M for their losses from their SPAC investments.

The sequential decline in stock-based compensation was only 2% less than the previous quarter and was $145.7M. Palantir had a net loss of $179.3M for their Q2 2022 performance, because of all these factors and due to significant government revenue pushing out due to timing of government budgets and deal cycles.

It is All About Perspective, Patience, and Expectations

I believe the short-term expectations of Palantir stock have been over-zealous from myself, other retail investors, and institutional investors. In my opinion, there are several reasons expectations got out of hand quickly, and perspective was lost. Here are the main reasons listed below:

The amazing capabilities of Palantir's software and outcomes it has proven already in the government sector.

The wild success this non-government entity had selling to the U.S. and other western allied governments for nearly 17 years before coming public.

The salesmanship of Alex Karp and the ability to keep this company generating meaningful revenue annually without a salesforce.

Being co-founded by Peter Thiel, one of the world's greatest private investors and former founder of PayPal. He also is the largest insider shareholder at 7% of all shares.

Now let's bring everything into perspective for both the bears and bulls for this stock. There are some fundamental truths concerning this stock and company right now, starting with the stock being undervalued from a price-to sales ratio of 9, which is significantly lower than its peers both in price to free cash flow as well as revenue per employee and revenue per customer. Below you can see C3.ai (AI) and Alteryx (AYX) do not even produce free cash flow, and Snowflake (SNOW) is over 3x more expensive regarding price to free cash flow than Palantir.

PLTR Price to Free Cash Flow data by YCharts

The government revenue is not always going to be decelerating as government spending goes in cycles and is very lumpy in nature. This past July, a record-breaking Department of Defense budget was approved by the senate this year for$858 billionand is projected to grow to an annual budget of $1 trillion by 2026. These past seven months we have had the war between Russia and Ukraine going on, with Palantir assisting the country of Ukraine any way they can with their Gotham & Foundry platforms. I believe there could be increased opportunity for Palantir to be able to assist other NATO countries in the defense against Russia with their software.

As stated, before Palantir has an exceptionalbalance sheetand is building their company their way, whether investors like it or not. The reassuring thing is they have plenty of assets and cash to get to the $4.5 billion annual revenue goal in 2025. The company is seeing significant growth in its U.S. commercial business, and it was the diamond in the rough for their Q2 FY22 earnings report.

Q2 2022 Financial Earnings Report

We can see the inflation the European countries are going through is significant and it has impacted the commercial customer growth outside the United States for Palantir. This past Monday, September 5th, the Euro dropped below 99 U.S. cents for the first time in over 20 years and the latest inflation rate was 9.1%. I bring this up because when you look at the 20 net new commercial customers Palantir acquired in Q2, only three of them were outside the United States.

What to Watch for With Palantir

There may still be some short-term turbulence for growth stocks like Palantir, with more interest rate hikes to come globally, including in the United States. However, Palantir's balance sheet is a flawless fortress for the company to stand on and grow their business while other companies are letting go employees. Palantir plans on having a 25% growth in employee headcount completed by the end of 2022! This is just one of many indicators that we could see Palantir hitting an inflection point for their business.

Q2 2022 Financial Earnings Presentation

Remember, the ramp-up time is anywhere between 9-12 months for new Palantir sales employees, so we won't see the true benefits of the sales reps hired today until next year. Another indicator is Palantir has received significantly increased institutional investing since being a public company these past two years, as stated earlier. We know there is a finite amount of losses Palantir can achieve on their remaining SPAC investments and that negative hit to the operating income will be gone.

This company is not perfect by any means, and I believe you should never "marry" a stock but invest in your thesis and the fundamentals of a business. I believe based off the fundamentals of Palantir's business and where its share price is today, the stock is very undervalued for long-term investors. You also have to really understand how your company makes money and how their business model operates. Remember, Palantir has a three-tiered business model of (acquire, expand, scale) in which they invest in the customer upfront and ensure their problems get solved with the software and value is realized quickly. This is still a complex process that requires a forward engineer and some hand-holding for this process to be a success. Most of their customers don't yield a lot of revenue and profits until they reach the scale phase, but when they do the growth is exponential in nature, and switching costs are much higher due to how entrenched the customer is in the platform.

I will be looking out for continued commercial customer growth in the next few quarters that mimics what they have achieved previously. You will want to check to see at the end of the year if their revenues for each tier of their business model grew year-over-year. I am also expecting better government revenues in 2023, as the new government budget will be in effect then. Investors must understand this and stay patient.Thesis:Palantir Technologies Inc. is an undervalued software stock especially compared to its competition. It has become oversold this past month, losing nearly 22% of its share price in the last month. What's interesting is a lot of the sellingis coming from retail investors, of which shareholder count hasdropped 8%year-over-year, but institutions have increased their holdings bynearly 10%in the same time frame. I believe the reason for this is that the institutions understand how significantly undervalued the company is, how strong their balance sheet is, and are demonstrating consistently high commercial customer growth rates.DCF from Simply Wall St.What are the Bears and Bulls Saying About Palantir Stock?Bears Feel Really Smart Right NowPalantir bears are feeling good right about now, and it is easy to see why. Palantir has been publicly traded for almost two years, and it is 26% lower in share price than the day of its DPO. Palantir bears' main thesis typically is around the company diluting shareholders, which has so far been true, with shareholders being diluted over 28% since the company went DPO. The other two main bear theses that surround Palantir are:Palantir is a consulting company and most of their revenue is government-dependent. We will discuss further how this may be perceived but is incorrect. The company is overvalued, not profitable, and now missing their 30% sales growth forecast. The stock does still have bears that are extremely short on the company with the short interest of the stock at nearly 7%.Bulls are Getting Impatient, Frustrated with Earnings, Concerned About ThesisPalantir bulls rightfully are frustrated with the company's latest earnings results and are concerned about the stock reaching their initial long-term expectations. However, if you have a well-diversified portfolio, a time horizon longer than five years, and just want to beat the market average in those five-plus years, then there is limited risk in Palantir in my opinion.Palantir is a stock not for short-term shareholders, nor one for the faint of heart, as it is very volatile, and not for investors who cannot get over the management style of the company. This stock holds a beta of 1.82, meaning when Palantir's stock fluctuates up or down it is almost 2x the size of what the market average is.This reason, and the lack of profitability Palantir has currently, is why institutional investor holdings are not over 50% just yet. If you have patience, can dollar-cost average during a long-term horizon, understand the nature of Palantir's customers, and business model, then you will not consider it risky to be a Palantir shareholder.I believe the Institutional Investor Community is understanding these things more and more, and as a result, the number of institutional shares held since December 2020 has increased over 3.5x!Institutional Holdings from Fintel.ioThe UglyLet me begin by saying I was disappointed by the Q2 2022 earnings results, considering the revenue they achieved was what they said their base case was for Q2 expectations during Q1. Palantir also made this their third quarter in a row missing analysts' expectations on earnings. I don't care who you are in the stock market, three misses in a row never provide analysts or investors additional confidence in your company.I also was not a fan of how leadership conducted themselves on the earnings call, getting short with those asking questions and sharing that some of their customers do not even like them but must use them because their product is that good. It is one thing to be overly confident or even slightly arrogant on an earnings call if you are exceeding all expectations, but it is a totally different one when performance has been consistently declining in different areas.Management dropped their commitment for 30% annual growth in 2022 and dropped a bomb on investors whenCEO Alex Karp said2025 is when the company will reach profitability. It is All About Perspective, Patience, and ExpectationsI believe the short-term expectations of Palantir stock have been over-zealous from myself, other retail investors, and institutional investors. In my opinion, there are several reasons expectations got out of hand quickly, and perspective was lost. Here are the main reasons listed below:The amazing capabilities of Palantir's software and outcomes it has proven already in the government sector. The wild success this non-government entity had selling to the U.S. and other western allied governments for nearly 17 years before coming public. The salesmanship of Alex Karp and the ability to keep this company generating meaningful revenue annually without a salesforce.Being co-founded by Peter Thiel, one of the world's greatest private investors and former founder of PayPal. Below you can see C3.ai (AI) and Alteryx (AYX) do not even produce free cash flow, and Snowflake (SNOW) is over 3x more expensive regarding price to free cash flow than Palantir.PLTR Price to Free Cash Flow data by YChartsThe government revenue is not always going to be decelerating as government spending goes in cycles and is very lumpy in nature. The company is seeing significant growth in its U.S. commercial business, and it was the diamond in the rough for their Q2 FY22 earnings report.Q2 2022 Financial Earnings ReportWe can see the inflation the European countries are going through is significant and it has impacted the commercial customer growth outside the United States for Palantir. This past Monday, September 5th, the Euro dropped below 99 U.S. cents for the first time in over 20 years and the latest inflation rate was 9.1%. I bring this up because when you look at the 20 net new commercial customers Palantir acquired in Q2, only three of them were outside the United States. What to Watch for With PalantirThere may still be some short-term turbulence for growth stocks like Palantir, with more interest rate hikes to come globally, including in the United States. However, Palantir's balance sheet is a flawless fortress for the company to stand on and grow their business while other companies are letting go employees. Palantir plans on having a 25% growth in employee headcount completed by the end of 2022! This is just one of many indicators that we could see Palantir hitting an inflection point for their business.Q2 2022 Financial Earnings PresentationRemember, the ramp-up time is anywhere between 9-12 months for new Palantir sales employees, so we won't see the true benefits of the sales reps hired today until next year. Another indicator is Palantir has received significantly increased institutional investing since being a public company these past two years, as stated earlier. We know there is a finite amount of losses Palantir can achieve on their remaining SPAC investments and that negative hit to the operating income will be gone. This company is not perfect by any means, and I believe you should never \"marry\" a stock but invest in your thesis and the fundamentals of a business. Most of their customers don't yield a lot of revenue and profits until they reach the scale phase, but when they do the growth is exponential in nature, and switching costs are much higher due to how entrenched the customer is in the platform.I will be looking out for continued commercial customer growth in the next few quarters that mimics what they have achieved previously. You will want to check to see at the end of the year if their revenues for each tier of their business model grew year-over-year. I am also expecting better government revenues in 2023, as the new government budget will be in effect then. I also want to see some sort of freemium model come out to increase the number of developers using the Foundry platform, or a major expansion on Foundry for Builders (their program for net new potential customers). Lastly, I would like to see more participation in technology conferences and publicizing the effectiveness of their software platform. Overall, I believe we see improvement in the share price and opportunities for Palantir to succeed in the long term.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9939977650,"gmtCreate":1662048090272,"gmtModify":1676536796183,"author":{"id":"3562979576963766","authorId":"3562979576963766","name":"Snowwhite","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f7b8537e21be09b6dce060ffe87a88e8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🍎 We had anticipated a relatively easy beat in ourpre-earnings article (Strong Buy), as the Street turnedeven more pessimistic. Notwithstanding, management declined to provide its customary guidance for FY23, given the evolving situation surrounding China's COVID lockdowns.

However, BABA stock surged post-earnings, as our price action analysis suggested that the stock had already bottomed in March. Management is also sanguine about ongoing support from the Chinese government, lending credence to its potential recovery through FY23-24.

As such, we reiterate our Strong Buy rating on BABA stock. We also discuss the tactical price targets (PTs) to watch in the near and medium-term. Our medium-term PT of $160 suggests an implied upside of 71% from Friday's close (May 27).

The Lack Of FY23 Guidance Did Not Worry The Market

Alibaba revenue change % and adjusted EBIT margins % consensus estimates(S&P Cap IQ)

Alibaba reported revenue growth of 8.9% in FQ4, down from 9.7% in FQ3. Notably, investors should expect Alibaba to report a topline growth of just 0.7% in FQ1'23 (ending June quarter), given the significant impact of the lockdowns in China. However, management emphasized that they have started to see marked improvements in May. It articulated (edited):

The situation in May, with the resumption of express deliveries and with the beginning of the normalization of the situation in Shanghai, certainly, we see things improving. But it will take time for all of the outstanding parcels to be delivered and also for merchants to make their preparations for the upcoming 618 festival. But we certainly are seeing signs of improvement going into the month of May. (Alibaba's FQ4'22 earnings call)

However, management didn't provide data points for the Street analysts to model for FY23. But we think the base case is still bullish for its 0.7% revenue growth estimates (30 Buys out of 40 ratings). Still, we believe Alibaba could surprise to the upside again in FQ1. Note that the company has already commenced the pre-sales for its 618 shopping event before the first wave of buying starts on May 31. We think the 618 event would be a critical juncture to evaluate the recovery cadence of consumer discretionary spending, assuming the lockdowns in China don't get worse.

Furthermore, management remains optimistic about a favorable regulatory climate that could undergird Alibaba's recovery through FY23-24. CEO Daniel Zhang articulated (edited):

We've seen that the government has been coming out with various policies lately, aimed at stabilizing the economy, stabilizing employment, and ensuring the provision of essentials to people. The State Council also convened an important meeting to implement measures in six different areas, several of which are highly relevant to the business of Alibaba, including stimulating consumption, ensuring the provision of essentials, and achieving supply chain recovery. So that's all highly relevant to us. Alibaba's 10Y revenue CAGR of 45.5% and 10Y average EBIT margins of 26.4% are a thing of the past. Moving forward, investors must accept much slower growth and lower profitability. That should explain why BABA's stock has been battered significantly over the past 18 months. The market got it absolutely spot on. It priced in these headwinds astutely well ahead of time.

As a result, management will focus on optimizing costs and improving operational efficiencies. We believe it's critical to help lift Alibaba's EPS estimates and net margins from its nadir through FY23-24.

Notably, the consensus estimates suggest that the Street is confident that Alibaba's beaten down profitability could recover remarkably through FY23, despite slowing topline growth, as seen above. The Federal Reserve controls short-term interest rates. Those purchases helped to push rates lower.

\"Reaffirming its commitment to ongoing asset purchases while acknowledging that a tapering is on the horizon at some point -- likely pretty far off -- should help slow the rise of mortgage rates,\" said Danielle Hale, chief economist at Realtor.com. With Americans now receiving the stimulus checks approved as part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, some analysts expect people to rush out and spend that money, causing prices to go up for consumer goods and services.Still, the Fed's stance and policy decisions could have some influence on mortgage rates, even if the central bank doesn't control them directly. Since the start of the pandemic, the Federal Reserve has ramped up its purchases of mortgage-backed securities in an effort to pump much needed liquidity into the market. Those purchases helped to push rates lower.\"Reaffirming its commitment to ongoing asset purchases while acknowledging that a tapering is on the horizon at some point -- likely pretty far off -- should help slow the rise of mortgage rates,\" said Danielle Hale, chief economist at Realtor.com. Hale noted that she expects the overall upward trend in mortgage rates to continue. But if the Fed reverses its policy regarding mortgage-backed securities, rates could quickly rise as lenders face liquidity constraints. Alternatively, if the Fed were to opt to ramp up its purchases of 10-year Treasury notes to stem long-term rates, then mortgage rates could drop, Kapfidze said.Either way, mortgage rates remain very low by historical standards even if they're now above the 3% mark, and industry experts anticipate that demand for mortgages will remain strong. The Mortgage Bankers Association \"continues to see a very strong housing market, with mortgage applications to buy a home increasing, even as refinance demand wanes,\" said Mike Fratantoni, the trade organization's chief economist. \"While mortgage rates are likely to move somewhat higher, the purchase market remains on track for a record year.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":20,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3572388238861982","authorId":"3572388238861982","name":"MGHuat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bd2cbc6e014ed9c700e2d9cd01ae2b08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"content":"no clear up or down.. one day sudden up and another day sudden down","text":"no clear up or down.. one day sudden up and another day sudden down","html":"no clear up or down.. one day sudden up and another day sudden down"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":325072417,"gmtCreate":1615854487639,"gmtModify":1704787450271,"author":{"id":"3562979576963766","authorId":"3562979576963766","name":"Snowwhite","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f7b8537e21be09b6dce060ffe87a88e8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/325072417","repostId":"1189586894","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1189586894","pubTimestamp":1615853724,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1189586894?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-03-16 08:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Buffett’s Berkshire Restarts March Madness Bracket Competition","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1189586894","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is bringing back its March Madness bracket contest for empl","content":"
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is bringing back its March Madness bracket contest for employees, restarting a tradition that was put on pause last year as the NCAA canceled the annual basketball tournament.
\n
Berkshire, which started the tradition in 2016, will award $100,000 to the employee who picks the winner of the most games correctly before an incorrect guess, the company said Monday in a statement. Even now, the stock remains 41.5% below its all-time high from January.
\n
Pessimistic statistics aside, the stock has enjoyed quite the rally. Palantir shares have put together two solid upside moves, although it has yet to take out its summer high. If it can, it could trigger an excellent 20% upside move.
\n
Trading PLTR Stock
\n
Palantir spiked off its low near $17 in May, closing the session around $20. It was a massive red-to-green rally that produced a bullish engulfing candle.
\n
Even if we measure from the close of that session (blue arrow on the chart), PLTR stock generated a 37.5% gain up to its high of $27.50 on June 28.
\n
From there, we saw another dip. Only this time, Palantir found support near $20, just as it had all throughout 2021 (with the exception of May).
\n
Now rallying higher, the stock has methodically pushed through all of its major moving averages. While PLTR stock struggled with the $25 to $25.50 zone, shares eventually resolved higher. However, the stock topped out at $26.88 — shy of its high in June.
\n
On the plus side, the recent pullback found support at the 21-day and 200-day moving averages.
\n
What bulls want to see now is simple.
\n
They’re looking for a push over this month’s high (at $26.88) and for a rotation over last quarter’s high of $27.50. That would give us a quarter-up rotation and open the door to $30. More specifically, it would put the gap-fill level in play at $31.34, up about 20% from current levels.
\n
Not to be too optimistic, but if PLTR stock can clear $31.50, the 61.8% retracement near $34.50 could be in play.
\n
On the downside, a break of the 200-day puts uptrend support in play (blue line), along with the 21-week and 50-day moving averages. Below those measures puts $20 back on the table.
\n
(Short of the quarterly rotation over $27.50, it’s quite likely PLTR stock will set up with an inside quarter, with Q3 ending in a few weeks).
\n
A Closer Look at Palantir
\n
The good news about Palantir is that it has pretty solid and steady growth. It’s also profitable — albeit, not wildly. The bad news is, that the stock isn’t cheap.
\n
Palantir is forecast to generate about $1.5 billion in sales this year and almost $2 billion in 2022. In 2023, estimates call for roughly $2.5 billion in revenue.
\n
As far as growth rates go, it looks something like this: trailing revenue growth of 47.4%, 37.5% growth this year and 28.5% to 29.5% growth in each of the next two years.
\n
Although we have declining growth going into 2022, it looks like it should level out just under 30% annually. That’s pretty darn solid.
\n
Analysts expect earnings of 16 cents per share this year — down slightly vs. 2020 — and profit of 21 cents a share in 2022.
\n
Now for the tough part. Palantir stock trades with a market capitalization of$51 billion. That puts it at 34 times this year’s sales estimate, 26.5 times next year’s expectations and more than 20 times 2023 revenue estimates.
\n
That’s far from cheap unless the company can generate some meaningful bottom-line growth. If that’s the case, then we could see a rapid acceleration in the stock, as it will be easy to justify a long position in a company growing its revenue by 25%-plus a year with solid bottom-line growth.
\n
Otherwise, we have to be aware of the risk that comes with this type of valuation.
\n
The Bottom Line Is Tricky
\n
The bottom line here is tricky. On the one hand, Palantir could prove to be an excellent buying opportunity for the long term. That’s especially true if it continues to add big contracts and gain subscription-style customers.
\n
However, we’re talking about a stock trading at more than 34 times current-year revenue. We’ve got to see Palantir deliver (and then some) to justify that lofty premium. Otherwise, shares could head lower, or at the very least, stagnate until its business grows enough and brings that valuation down.
\n
For investors that can incorporate the technicals, conservative bulls can be long over $25. Aggressive bulls can be long over $23. Below that and $20 or lower is possible.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Here’s How Palantir Stock Can Rally 20% From Current Levels
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nHere’s How Palantir Stock Can Rally 20% From Current Levels\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-15 23:09 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Like many growth names,Palantir(NYSE:PLTR) stock saw explosive price action at the start of the year.\nHowever, those explosive gains eventually fizzled out and PLTR stock pulled back significantly.\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PLTR":"Palantir Technologies Inc."},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/09/pltr-stock-can-rally-20-from-current-levels/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1113158802","content_text":"Like many growth names,Palantir(NYSE:PLTR) stock saw explosive price action at the start of the year.\nHowever, those explosive gains eventually fizzled out and PLTR stock pulled back significantly.\nShares bottomed in early May — again, like most growth stocks — falling 62% from its all-time high. However, the stock topped out at $26.88 — shy of its high in June.\nOn the plus side, the recent pullback found support at the 21-day and 200-day moving averages.\nWhat bulls want to see now is simple.\nThey’re looking for a push over this month’s high (at $26.88) and for a rotation over last quarter’s high of $27.50. That would give us a quarter-up rotation and open the door to $30. More specifically, it would put the gap-fill level in play at $31.34, up about 20% from current levels.\nNot to be too optimistic, but if PLTR stock can clear $31.50, the 61.8% retracement near $34.50 could be in play.\nOn the downside, a break of the 200-day puts uptrend support in play (blue line), along with the 21-week and 50-day moving averages. Below those measures puts $20 back on the table.\n(Short of the quarterly rotation over $27.50, it’s quite likely PLTR stock will set up with an inside quarter, with Q3 ending in a few weeks).\nA Closer Look at Palantir\nThe good news about Palantir is that it has pretty solid and steady growth. It’s also profitable — albeit, not wildly. The bad news is, that the stock isn’t cheap.\nPalantir is forecast to generate about $1.5 billion in sales this year and almost $2 billion in 2022. In 2023, estimates call for roughly $2.5 billion in revenue.\nAs far as growth rates go, it looks something like this: trailing revenue growth of 47.4%, 37.5% growth this year and 28.5% to 29.5% growth in each of the next two years.\nAlthough we have declining growth going into 2022, it looks like it should level out just under 30% annually. That’s pretty darn solid.\nAnalysts expect earnings of 16 cents per share this year — down slightly vs. 2020 — and profit of 21 cents a share in 2022.\nNow for the tough part. Palantir stock trades with a market capitalization of$51 billion. That puts it at 34 times this year’s sales estimate, 26.5 times next year’s expectations and more than 20 times 2023 revenue estimates.\nThat’s far from cheap unless the company can generate some meaningful bottom-line growth. If that’s the case, then we could see a rapid acceleration in the stock, as it will be easy to justify a long position in a company growing its revenue by 25%-plus a year with solid bottom-line growth.\nOtherwise, we have to be aware of the risk that comes with this type of valuation.\nThe Bottom Line Is Tricky\nThe bottom line here is tricky. On the one hand, Palantir could prove to be an excellent buying opportunity for the long term. That’s especially true if it continues to add big contracts and gain subscription-style customers.\nHowever, we’re talking about a stock trading at more than 34 times current-year revenue. We’ve got to see Palantir deliver (and then some) to justify that lofty premium. Otherwise, shares could head lower, or at the very least, stagnate until its business grows enough and brings that valuation down.\nFor investors that can incorporate the technicals, conservative bulls can be long over $25. Aggressive bulls can be long over $23. Below that and $20 or lower is possible.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":83,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":103001895,"gmtCreate":1619737169117,"gmtModify":1704271460062,"author":{"id":"3562979576963766","authorId":"3562979576963766","name":"Snowwhite","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f7b8537e21be09b6dce060ffe87a88e8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Still holding tight[Smile] ","listText":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Still holding tight[Smile] ","text":"$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$Still holding tight[Smile]","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/dc3a1d9d8102d78d0626a484027679fa","width":"750","height":"1068"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/103001895","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":237,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3575367471914930","authorId":"3575367471914930","name":"BTS","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7c7ab7c634f3af64309445eed64a501e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"content":"[ShakeHands] [ShakeHands]","text":"[ShakeHands] [ShakeHands]","html":"[ShakeHands] [ShakeHands]"}],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":322128837,"gmtCreate":1615785140029,"gmtModify":1704786452893,"author":{"id":"3562979576963766","authorId":"3562979576963766","name":"Snowwhite","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f7b8537e21be09b6dce060ffe87a88e8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tempted to buy","listText":"Tempted to buy","text":"Tempted to buy","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":5,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/322128837","repostId":"1139451069","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1139451069","pubTimestamp":1615777682,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1139451069?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-03-15 11:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Coupang Is the Amazon.com of South Korea, but Maybe Even Better. It now ranks as the country’s second-largest publicly held company, trailing onlySamsung Electronics. It was the biggest U.S. initial public offering by a foreign issuer sinceAlibaba Group Holdingin 2014, and the biggest U.S. new issue of any kind sinceUber Technologiesin 2019.
\n
Founded in 2010 by Harvard Business School dropout Bom Kim, Coupang has become a huge force in the South Korean economy. The company accounts for 4% of the country’s consumer commerce, with a broad array of online retailing services: ThinkAmazon.complusInstacart,DoorDash,andNetflix.Coupang has about 50,000 employees and expects to hire another 50,000 Koreans by 2025.
\n
Coupang may be like Amazon, but it has important geographical advantages. South Korea is a tech-savvy, superdense, highly populated country of more than 50 million people. Eric Kim, who sat on the Coupang board from 2011 to 2017 while a managing director at Maverick Capital, an investor in the company, notes that South Korea has about the same land mass as Indiana—but almost 10 times the population. Take out the uninhabitable mountain regions, he adds, and all of those people are jammed into an area the size of Rhode Island.
\n
That high density helps make Coupang superresponsive. The company has 25 million square feet of warehouse space, spread over 100 locations in more than 30 cities. Coupang says that 70% of Koreans live within seven miles of one of its distribution centers. Almost anything can be ordered same-day, and “dawn delivery” assures that goods ordered by midnight are delivered by 7 a.m.
\n
Coupang has also eliminated the need for cardboard boxes and bubble wrap for 75% of deliveries. (Let’s see you do that, Amazon.) Coupang Fresh, the company’s market-leading online grocery service, ships goods in reusable containers—leave them by the door and they are whisked away by one of Coupang’s 15,000 delivery staff members for reuse. Returning goods? Leave them outside your door—no special packaging or printed label required.
\n
Coupang had 2020 revenue of $12 billion, up 91% from the previous year, as the pandemic helped accelerate growth from 55% in 2019 and 69% in 2018. Growth was above 90% in each of the past four quarters.
\n
While not profitable yet, the company is getting close. Coupang’s profit margin, as measured by adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, was minus 2.1% last year, versus minus 8.8% the previous year. And that reflects some unusual costs to protect workers from the pandemic.
\n
In the IPO, Coupang sold 130 million shares at $35 apiece. The stock opened for trading at $63.50, giving the company a $114 billion market cap. The stock then drifted lower, closing on Thursday at just under $50 a share, for a valuation just shy of $90 billion.
\n
Coupang shares aren’t cheap—eBay(EBAY) has comparable revenue and less than half the market cap. And the stock trades at a slight premium to Alibaba (BABA) based on trailing 12-months sales. But Coupang has some distinct advantages. Alibaba faces fierce competition from companies like Pinduoduo andJD.com.Alibaba’s growth rate is less than half that of Coupang. And Coupang doesn’t have the Chinese Communist Party looking over its shoulder.
\n
One thing that Alibaba and Coupang have in common is a tight relationship withSoftBank Group(SFTBY)—the Japanese holding company is the largest investor in both companies.
\n
SoftBank invested $700 million in Coupang in 2015. In 2018, the SoftBank Vision Fund, the company’s $100 billion venture portfolio founded in 2016, invested another $2 billion in a deal led by Lydia Jett, a Vision Fund executive who now sits on the Coupang board. The original investment was rolled into the Vision Fund, for a total bet of $2.7 billion. That stake is now worth $30 billion. It’s a monster win—and possibly the biggest exit ever for a deal led by a woman venture investor.
\n
SoftBank did not sell any shares in the offering, and Jett says in an interview withBarron’sthat the company intends to be a long-term investor, as it has been with Alibaba. More than 20 years after its initial investment, SoftBank’s remains the single largest holder in Alibaba.
\n
“We’re set up to hold Coupang for the long term,” Jett says. “There is a lot of room left in what is a $500 billion retail market.”
\n
It seems odd that South Korea, one of the world’s most technologically advanced nations, has played such a small role in the U.S. stock market. Coupang was the first Korean tech company to go public here in more than a decade. Jay Ritter, a University of Florida business school professor who studies the IPO market, says just six Korean tech firms have gone public in the U.S. market, all from 1999 to 2006. That list actually includes Gmarket, an e-commerce company that went public in 2006 and was acquired by eBay for $1.2 billion in 2009. EBay has announced that it is seeking a buyer for its Korean business. None of the best-known Korean tech and manufacturing companies—Samsung,LG,Hyundai Motor,Kia,SK Hynix—have U.S. listings.
\n
Jett thinks the Coupang deal will be a turning point for Korea’s venture capital market. She says there has been a misconception that Korean tech companies weren’t innovative enough. “That door has now been blown off,” she says. “This will transform how Korean companies are funded. This is just the beginning.”
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Coupang Is the Amazon.com of South Korea, but Maybe Even Better.
