Their combined revenue from the business bottomed out at $110 billion in 2017 and hardly improved in the two years that followed, according to data from analytics firm Coalition Greenwich. The reasons were myriad: more stringent rules, the rise of electronic trading, persistently low interest rates, pressure from new entrants and the outright disappearance of some products post-crisis.</p>\n<p>Many of those changes have played out, and capital markets are expanding. Pinto and colleagues said that longer-term growth trend will be apparent this year.</p>\n<p>“If you put last year aside, which was a one-off, this year should be a very strong outcome when you put it on a multiyear basis,” said Troy Rohrbaugh, JPMorgan’s global head of markets.</p>\n<p>Equities will expand the industry’s wallet more than fixed-income products, Rohrbaugh predicted. The U.S. remains the region generating the biggest increase, though the trend is also positive in Europe, he said. The wallet from China will likely swell, but it’s unclear what share of the additional business will go to foreign firms. Each shareholder of record <i>as of June 21</i> will receive three additional shares of NVIDIA stock for each <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> they own, which will be distributed after the market close on July 19. The stock will start trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20.</p>\n<p>To give some context to the numbers, here's an example of how it will work, though the final numbers will vary based on the then-current stock price. For each share of NVIDIA stock that an investor holds -- currently worth roughly $760 -- post-split, shareholders would own a total of four shares priced at $190 each.</p>\n<h3>The odd quirk</h3>\n<p>What sets NVIDIA's stock split apart from many others is the extraordinary length of time between the record date and the distribution date of the new, split shares. The record date is the date by which investors must own the stock in order to be eligible to receive additional shares created by the stock split, which occurs on the effective date. Typically, there are just a few days between the two.</p>\n<p>For example, in the recent 10-for-one stock split initiated by <b>The Trade Desk</b> (NASDAQ:TTD), shareholders of record as of June 9, 2021 received nine additional shares of stock, which were distributed after the close of trading on June 16, 2021 -- or a period of about a week after the record date. This was very similar to a couple of high-profile stock splits that happened late last year. <b>Apple</b> (NASDAQ:AAPL) and <b>Tesla</b> (NASDAQ:TSLA) each split their shares in August, with record dates of Aug. 24 and Aug. 21, respectively, and both stocks began trading split-adjusted&nbsp;on Aug. 31.</p>\n<p>In the case of NVIDIA, however, the period between the two is a whopping four weeks long. So what happens to investors who buy between the record date and the effective date? Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house <b>Charles Schwab</b>.</p>\n<p>This means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20.</p>\n<p>It's also important to point out that this stock split doesn't do anything to change the underlying value of NVIDIA as a company -- it merely cleaves it into a greater number of ownership segments. Typically, there are just a few days between the two.\nFor example, in the recent 10-for-one stock split initiated by The Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD), shareholders of record as of June 9, 2021 received nine additional shares of stock, which were distributed after the close of trading on June 16, 2021 -- or a period of about a week after the record date. This was very similar to a couple of high-profile stock splits that happened late last year. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) each split their shares in August, with record dates of Aug. 24 and Aug. 21, respectively, and both stocks began trading split-adjusted on Aug. 31.\nIn the case of NVIDIA, however, the period between the two is a whopping four weeks long. So what happens to investors who buy between the record date and the effective date? Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house Charles Schwab.\nThis means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20.\nIt's also important to point out that this stock split doesn't do anything to change the underlying value of NVIDIA as a company -- it merely cleaves it into a greater number of ownership segments. After being priced at $17 per share, the stock has jumped nearly 70% to $28.73 per share.\nHowever, some of the biggest investment firms are tepid on the stock after that strong start. A slate of initiations on Monday showed that Wall Street is split on how Oatly should be valued.\nJefferies, which was involved in Oatly’s IPO, has a buy rating and one of the highest price targets on the stock at $34 per share. Guggenheim Securities is similarly bullish at $32 per share and projected significant growth for the company.\n“The company is in the early stages of a long-term growth story that could generate double-digit annual sales growth for at least the next 10 years if it continues to invest heavily in capacity expansion,” Guggenheim said in a note to clients.\nJPMorgan, however, gave the stock a neutral rating and a $24 price target, saying that competition in the space is sure to increase and clouds the outlook for the company.\n“Oatly may have to raise more capital within a couple of years, and we view the stock as slightly overvalued (with volatility likely ahead).
