The company reported 10,378 vehicle deliveries during March, down from the 12,157 deliveries in February.

Source: CnEVPost

In total, NIO delivered 31,041 vehicles in Q1'23. The amount was up from last Q1, but the Chinese EV company is still struggling to consistently deliver vehicles in excess of 10K monthly after originally topping this delivery level back in September 2021.

NIO continues to have wildly volatile monthly delivery numbers, but the quarterly amounts show a much more consistent growth pattern. The Q1 2023 numbers were the highest Q1 numbers in corporate history, topping the 25,768 vehicles delivered back in 2022.

Source: CnEVPost

As the above chart shows, quarterly sales tend to trend higher throughout the year with the highest vehicle deliveries in the last quarter of the year. NIO could definitely be on a record delivery schedule, if the momentum from Q1 continues in the current quarter, but the last couple of years have seen sequentially flat numbers before a 2H sales bump.

NIO continues to aggressively roll out the battery charging plans, including 1,339 battery swap stations and 1,285 charging stations now. Of course, for these numbers to matter, the company has to show more consistent growth in actual EV sales.

Breakout Potential

When reporting Q4 2022 results, the CEO forecast the company doubling EV sales this year to 250,000 vehicles. CEO William Li made the following statement on the earnings call:

In a nutshell, our target is still to double the volume in this year, and our teams are quite confident to achieve this target. When it comes to the profitability, this is closely bundled together with the gross margin. So if the raw material cost reduction can be of expectations, like I explained before then for the fourth quarter, we believe this probably can still achieve the target that we said before.

As Q1'23 deliveries only grew around 20% over Q1'22 levels, the CFO went on Bloomberg Television and confirmed the goal of hitting these aggressive targets with the following statement:

We are very confident to achieve our sales target in 2023. The company hopes to achieve the target with new models, expanding its charging and battery-swapping network, and unlocking autonomous driving technologies.

In our opinion, the company isn't doing shareholders any favor setting up the market with goals that are too aggressive. Analysts forecast sales growing 74% to $12.5 billion, and the CEO latter suggested some investments would reduce the ability to report full profitability for the year.

Either number would be impressive, but the market won't necessarily be happy with NIO hitting a target far below the levels set by the executives. After all, NIO has to hit the following quarterly vehicle delivery targets to just double sales this year:

Q2'23 - 50.1K

Q3'23 - 63.2K

Q4'23 - 80.1K.

Remember, NIO has to produce these quarterly vehicle delivery targets to double the 2022 levels. The Chinese EV company still has to produce an additional 20,495 vehicles to double the Q1 production levels after not coming anywhere close to doubling sales in the March quarter.

Ultimately, the market will reward massive progress towards growth by starting to produce over 15K to 20K in monthly deliveries, leading to a quarterly delivery level topping 50K. NIO won't need perfection to generate upside to the stock from levels around just $9.

Where the stock becomes incredibly appealing is when profits arrive and NIO still has a large cash balance. The market cap is only $15 billion now, and a large cash balance exceeding $6 billion would suddenly become a major asset not included in prior analysis with the way the Chinese EV company was burning cash.

Our base case isn't for NIO to ever obtain the rich valuation premium of Tesla, Inc. , but a Chinese company with faster growth would warrant more consideration going forward. Remember, the stock only trades at a forward EV/S target for 2023 of 1x, but the number is similar to XPeng .

Data by YCharts

The market isn't convinced NIO can produce the stated growth targets despite the promising technology surrounding the EVs around battery swap and self-driving technology.

At NIO Day 2022 held on December 24, 2022, the company launched the EC7 as well as the new ES8. These vehicles have deliveries to begin in May and June 2023, respectively. A big question market is what happens to demand in April and May heading into these launches and whether NIO can sustain increasing sales without having to constantly launch new models to fend off competition.

Takeaway

The key investor takeaway is that NIO Inc. continues to make slow progress while the stock has significant upside potential from hitting aggressive targets. The company forecasts being breakeven by year-end for the NIO brand. Under these scenarios, the stock has the upside potential for major multiple expansion considering where Tesla trades with a forecast for 25% growth, while NIO Inc. could exceed those growth rates by several multiples.

Editor's Note: This article discusses one or more securities that do not trade on a major U.S. exchange. After all, NIO has to hit the following quarterly vehicle delivery targets to just double sales this year:Q2'23 - 50.1KQ3'23 - 63.2KQ4'23 - 80.1K.Remember, NIO has to produce these quarterly vehicle delivery targets to double the 2022 levels. The Chinese EV company still has to produce an additional 20,495 vehicles to double the Q1 production levels after not coming anywhere close to doubling sales in the March quarter.Ultimately, the market will reward massive progress towards growth by starting to produce over 15K to 20K in monthly deliveries, leading to a quarterly delivery level topping 50K. NIO won't need perfection to generate upside to the stock from levels around just $9.Where the stock becomes incredibly appealing is when profits arrive and NIO still has a large cash balance. Remember, the stock only trades at a forward EV/S target for 2023 of 1x, but the number is similar to XPeng .Data by YChartsThe market isn't convinced NIO can produce the stated growth targets despite the promising technology surrounding the EVs around battery swap and self-driving technology. At NIO Day 2022 held on December 24, 2022, the company launched the EC7 as well as the new ES8. These vehicles have deliveries to begin in May and June 2023, respectively. A big question market is what happens to demand in April and May heading into these launches and whether NIO can sustain increasing sales without having to constantly launch new models to fend off competition.TakeawayThe key investor takeaway is that NIO Inc. continues to make slow progress while the stock has significant upside potential from hitting aggressive targets. The company forecasts being breakeven by year-end for the NIO brand. Under these scenarios, the stock has the upside potential for major multiple expansion considering where Tesla trades with a forecast for 25% growth, while NIO Inc. could exceed those growth rates by several multiples.Editor's Note: This article discusses one or more securities that do not trade on a major U.S. exchange. With Micron in the spotlight, other bellwether semiconductor companies also were negatively impacted. Intel (INTC) was off by 2.6% while Nvidia (NVDA) was down by 4.5%, Qualcomm (QCOM) shares fell by 3.5% and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) dropped 3%. According to the Tech Note in Seeking Alpha: Micron is also not as exposed to the automotive market, which Kumar said events like rising rates, a slowing macro and the possibility of excess inventory may be a concern. Kumar pointed out that Micron's exposure of greater than 50% to consumer markets is higher than many other semiconductor companies, and with some weakness in the mobile and PC markets, it's likely there could be \"additional pressure on the company.\" My Analysis Perhaps it's in the definitions of the Piper Sandler database used to downgrade Micron. But my analysis shows significantly different metrics, which is shown below in this article. Automotive Memory Shown in Chart 1, Micron's share of the total Automotive Memory market of $3,700 million was 55.0% in 2021, up slightly from 53.9% in 2020, according to The Information Network's report entitled \"Hot ICs: A Market Analysis of Artificial Intelligence (\"AI\"), 5G, Automotive, and Memory Chips.\" Chart 1 The Information Network Automotive Semiconductor Chart 2 shows that Micron's share of the total Automotive Semiconductor Market of $51,600 million was 3.9%, up slightly from 3.4% in 2020. Chart 2 The Information Network Consumer Semiconductor Chart 3 shows Micron's share of the global Consumer Semiconductor market of $46,800 million was 2.5% in 2021, down slightly from 2.8% in 2020. Note that my analysis of the \"Consumer\" segment is based on Industry Consortia \"Semiconductor Industry Association\" definitions. Chart 3 The Information Network Smartphone Semiconductor Chart 4 shows Micron's share of the global Smartphone Semiconductor market of $88,100 million was 8.2% in 2021, down from 10.3% in 2020. Chart 4 The Information Network Investor Takeaway The Piper Sandler analysis states that Micron's exposure was greater than 50% of consumer markets. My analysis shows that it is just 2.5% of the $46 billion consumer semiconductor (Chart 3) and 8% of the $88 billion smartphone semiconductor markets (Chart 4). These shares are significantly below the 50% share reported by Piper Sandler. In the Automotive semiconductor market, Piper Sandler reports that Micron is also not as exposed to the automotive market. In my analysis, Micron has a 55% share of the $3.7 billion market (Chart 1), which in my opinion, is significantly more than \"not as exposed.\" Indeed, if we consider the overall Automotive Semiconductor market, Micron does have just a 3.9% share of the $52 billion market. Investors must consider that Micron's automotive share of total revenues is 7% compared to semiconductor manufacturers that specialize in the automotive market, such as NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) with a 47% exposure, or Infineon with a 46% exposure. I rate Micron a buy. My analysis also correlates with Seeking Alpha's Ratings and Factor Grades shown in Chart 5. Earnings","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1181610225","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Block(NYSE:SQ) is a clear winner of this earnings season. The digital payment company, formerly know","content":"

Block(NYSE:SQ) is a clear winner of this earnings season. The digital payment company, formerly known as Square, has emerged as a leader in the fintech space. Its earnings report for this quarter wasn’t all positive, but it was enough to send SQ stock up in after-hours trading yesterday. While shares have been turbulent today, analysts remain bullish following the earnings report, foreseeing better things ahead for the company.

What’s Happening With SQ Stock

As noted, SQ stock did not rise after yesterday’s call until markets had closed. Extended trading hours brought a 10% surge, but today, shares are back in the red. SQ began today by falling 9% but is already moving upward. As of this writing, it is only down 4% for the day and looks poised to pull back into the green soon.

It makes sense that SQ would be volatile after the earnings report brought both good and bad news. However, it is clear that the good far outweighs the bad as far as analysts are concerned. Let’s take a look at the factors at play here.

Why It Matters

The less-than-positive news is that Block did not meet expectations for revenue or earnings for the previous quarter. While that’s never a great sign for investors, the company did issue positive signals for its Cash App arm. Block’s gross profit for the mobile wallet system was$578 million, a figure that exceeded Wall Street expectations. And that number isn’t even including profit from Afterpay, an Australian buy now pay later (BNPL) app recently acquired by Block.

Another negative headwind that Block has been facing lately is the falling of cryptocurrency prices. Indeed, Bitcoin(BTC-USD) prices are plunging today, and many other cryptos are following. The market selloff that sent many tech stocks down yesterday has spread to digital assets, and risk-averse investors are backing off crypto plays. As weakening demand for crypto pushes prices down, companies like Block will be pushed down with it. However, most of Wall Street hasn’t soured on SQ stock.

Prior to the earnings report, SQ received two analyst upgrades. Since the report, it has received more. Mayank Tandon of Needhamrecently reiterated a “buy” rating and set a price target of $135. Mizuho Securities analyst Dan Dolev remains bullish on SQ, maintaining his “buy” rating and setting a $215 price target. Mark Palmer of BTIG isn’t quite so optimistic, but he also reiterated a “buy” rating and assigned SQ aprice target of $175. The TipRanks analyst rating consensus is that SQ stock is a “strong buy,” with 30 analysts maintaining buy ratings.

In a note to investors, analyst Ramsey El-Assal of Barclays credited Cash App with being the “standout of Q1.” The mobile payments acquisition may be what saves the company.

What It Means

Clearly, Wall Street is choosing to see the big picture when it comes to SQ stock. They have plenty of reason to. What’s Happening With SQ StockAs noted, SQ stock did not rise after yesterday’s call until markets had closed. Extended trading hours brought a 10% surge, but today, shares are back in the red. SQ began today by falling 9% but is already moving upward. As of this writing, it is only down 4% for the day and looks poised to pull back into the green soon.It makes sense that SQ would be volatile after the earnings report brought both good and bad news. However, it is clear that the good far outweighs the bad as far as analysts are concerned. Let’s take a look at the factors at play here. Why It MattersThe less-than-positive news is that Block did not meet expectations for revenue or earnings for the previous quarter. While that’s never a great sign for investors, the company did issue positive signals for its Cash App arm. Block’s gross profit for the mobile wallet system was$578 million, a figure that exceeded Wall Street expectations. And that number isn’t even including profit from Afterpay, an Australian buy now pay later (BNPL) app recently acquired by Block.Another negative headwind that Block has been facing lately is the falling of cryptocurrency prices. However, most of Wall Street hasn’t soured on SQ stock.Prior to the earnings report, SQ received two analyst upgrades. What It MeansClearly, Wall Street is choosing to see the big picture when it comes to SQ stock. They have plenty of reason to. As noted on the call, “Cash App generated $624 million of gross profit in the first quarter, an increase of 26% year-over-year and 94% on a three-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) basis.”There’s no reason to expect that these growth trends won’t continue throughout the current quarter and beyond. And with the addition of Afterpay, Block will have another dynamic growth driver, particularly in international markets. SQ stock should definitely be on the radar of investors looking for bullish fintech plays.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":227,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9068946171,"gmtCreate":1651712880656,"gmtModify":1676534954705,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$all the way ","listText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$all the way ","text":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$all the way","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/370b7922b1a6615e2940b7b947185d0c","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9068946171","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":173,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9063911982,"gmtCreate":1651383544595,"gmtModify":1676534899449,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅","listText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅","text":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/e75d64300e97b19b15040b5f43024cb6","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9063911982","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":171,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9063913707,"gmtCreate":1651383469898,"gmtModify":1676534899440,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9063913707","repostId":"9069757845","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":9069757845,"gmtCreate":1651367263315,"gmtModify":1676534895135,"author":{"id":"4094215036099450","authorId":"4094215036099450","name":"ahxing","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7f4fae7885f1ee4fe0aba5a5c673f914","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4094215036099450","authorIdStr":"4094215036099450"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMD(AMD)$Tech.... that reversed earlier solid gains after the U.S. Federal Reserve released its statement at the conclusion of its two-day policy meeting.

All three major U.S. stock indexes gyrated wildly in the final minutes of a session that ended with the Dow joining the S&P in negative territory and the Nasdaq eking out a nominal gain.

The indexes enjoyed a brief surge after the Federal Open Markets Committee left key interest rates near zero. But those gains quickly evaporated as the Fed statement warned it would soon begin raising the Fed Funds target rate to combat persistent inflation related to the COVID-hobbled supply chain.

"With inflation well above 2 percent and a strong labor market, the Committee expects it will soon be appropriate to raise the target range for the federal funds rate," the statement said.

Stocks slid into negative territory once Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's subsequent Q&A got under way, during which he warned that inflation remains above its long-run goal and supply problems are bigger and more long-lasting than previously thought.

"When reporters asked Powell if the Fed would consider raising rates at every meeting, which would mean more than four times this year, he didn’t say they wouldn’t, which indicates a flexibility to raise rates much more quickly (if necessary) than anyone was expecting," said Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer at Independent Advisor Alliance in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 129.64 points, or 0.38%, to 34,168.09, the S&P 500 lost 6.52 points, or 0.15%, to 4,349.93 and the Nasdaq Composite added 2.82 points, or 0.02%, to 13,542.12.

While all 11 major sectors of the S&P 500 spent much of the trading day green, by the time the dust settled only tech and financials showed gains.

Fourth-quarter reporting season has hit full stride, with one-fifth of the companies in the S&P 500 having posted results. However, a stock split by itself doesn't change a company's fundamental value, so business health should be assessed rather than stock price when contemplating a buy. Shopify: A 100-year mission still early in its development

I'll start with Shopify, because this is my favorite company among the stock split candidates discussed here. I believe this stock also has some of the biggest upside potential in the next decade and beyond.

Shopify is on a "100 year mission to make commerce better for everyone." Since its IPO in 2015, shares are up over 2,300%, and that's despite the recent 60%-plus sell-off from all-time highs. Suffice to say the journey has been highly profitable so far. Shopify's software suite helps aspiring entrepreneurs, small businesses, and fast-growing retail brands manage their sales online and via traditional in-person channels. Services include everything from website management to social media marketing to digital payment acceptance.

Shopify's focus over the next couple of years will be scaling its Fulfillment Network, local warehouses from which Shopify users can manage inventory and quickly ship orders to customers. In an era of fast fulfillment, giving small merchants similar shipping options as bigger retailers will be a big challenge for Shopify -- but one that could be highly profitable if it can pull it off.

Given the expectation for continued double-digit percentage growth, Shopify stock appears cheap at just 27 times trailing 12-month earnings. It isn't, especially considering Shopify Fulfillment Network is going to cost about $1 billion to build over the next few years. Nevertheless, this company has proven its worth in the retail world, and it has a mission that aligns with the benefit of its large and expanding user base. Shopify looks like a fantastic buy right now ahead of its proposed stock split.

2. Alphabet: The internet is a secular growth megatrend

In July, Google parent company Alphabet will undergo a 20-for-1 stock split. The last time the internet search leader underwent such activity was in 2014. Since then, Alphabet shares have risen over 350%.

There are plenty of reasons to believe Alphabet will continue to provide steady growth for many years to come. For one thing, its bread-and-butter business selling digital ads is still steadily gobbling up global market share of the overall advertising industry (on pace to reach $1 trillion a year in global spending). Digital ads have a lot of benefits for marketers, and they're highly profitable for Google.

Alphabet is using those profits from its core Google business ("Google Services" generated an operating profit margin of 37% in 2021) to fuel lots of other projects. Google Cloud is chief among them. Organizations are migrating their IT workloads to data centers and adopting cloud-based services, providing Google with a second secular growth megatrend beyond just digital ads. Add in Google Payments, YouTube, various subscription services, self-driving cars, and more, and Google has no shortage of directions to take its business.

Plus this is one of the deepest-pocketed organizations around. Alphabet had $140 billion in cash and short-term investments on hand at the end of 2021, offset by debt of only $14.8 billion. Trading for just 26 times trailing 12-month free cash flow, Alphabet stock looks like one of the best long-term values out there right now.

3. Tesla: Still massive upside for the EV market

Tesla had its last 5-for-1 stock split over the summer of 2020, and shares have doubled in value since then. In recent regulatory filings, the company has indicated it will put another stock split on the table for shareholders to vote on.

The real reason to invest in Tesla right now, though, is the massive consumer migration from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles. Of the nearly-67 million vehicles sold worldwide in 2021, only about 6.5 million were electric vehicles (EVs). Tesla delivered just over 936,000 vehicles in 2021.

As legacy automakers and other EV start-ups fire up their assembly lines for next-gen cars, it isn't reasonable to expect Tesla to continue commanding such a large slice of the EV market share. However, management thinks it can continue growing sales at roughly the same rate as the EV space overall, about 50% per year, for the next few years. For an automaker that just cranked out over $45 billion worth of vehicle sales in 2021 (less environmental regulatory credits sold to other automakers), that's an ambitious growth rate.

A few catalysts could help Tesla supercharge its way to $100 billion in annual sales and beyond. Its new Gigafactories in Berlin and Austin, Texas, are now live. Though temporarily shuttered due to a coronavirus outbreak, the Gigafactory in Shanghai will handle production in Asia. More factories are likely on the way, as are new models like the Cybertruck. At 71 times one-year forward expected earnings, fantastic execution of its expansion plans is already priced into this stock. But if you think the move to EVs will continue at a rapid pace for the next decade, there's a lot to like about Tesla even at these sky-high prices.

4. Amazon: A fantastic allocator of capital goes on a spending spree

For in-the-know investors, Amazon's mind-boggling run higher isn't simply a story of e-commerce expansion. It's true, Amazon used its early lead in selling online to its advantage, but that's not really what has made the stock move nearly 155,000% higher since its IPO in 1997. Rather, it's been the company's success in allocating capital to highly profitable new projects adjacent to its e-commerce empire that has been the key ingredient to its success.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing segment that started simply by "renting out" extra data center capacity from the e-commerce segment, generated only 13% of all revenue last year. However, AWS operating profit accounted for 75% of Amazon's grand total. Other services like advertising on its merchant platform accounted for much of the rest of operating income.

Amazon spent an incredible $65 billion on capital expenditures (property, plant, and equipment) to support its long-term growth last year. With infrastructure costs only increasing thanks to inflation, that pace of spending isn't likely to abate anytime soon. For reference, Amazon's capital expenditures were $20 billion in 2020. The explosion in spending in support of steady expansion has put pressure on the e-commerce giant's bottom line. Shares currently trade for 47 times trailing 12-month earnings, and 240 times trailing 12-month free cash flow.

However, if you believe Amazon will continue to be an excellent allocator of capital to the right projects at the right time, there's a lot to like about that explosion in capital investment. Amazon is also undergoing a 20-for-1 stock split in May, but there is a multitude of longer-term reasons to buy and hold beyond this one-time stock split event.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Shopify, Alphabet, Amazon, and Tesla Stocks Are Splitting -- Which Ones Are the Best Buys?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nShopify, Alphabet, Amazon, and Tesla Stocks Are Splitting -- Which Ones Are the Best Buys?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-13 09:24 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shopify just joined Amazon, Alphabet, and Tesla in announcing stock splits. Stocks can sell off for no reason other than broad-based volatility and macroeconomic factors like interest rates and inflation. While both those numbers are important for businesses and their profit potential, short-term emotional swings can provide investors with an extended time horizon -- an opportunity to buy stocks they like at a discount. This seems to be happening, especially with technology stocks, this month.

Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK), Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE), and Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL) are three tech stocks that fit this bill. Each business has attractive unit economics, provides incredible value to its customer base, and has sold off to start 2022.

Autodesk

Autodesk sells software programs to architects, engineers, construction workers, and industrial workers, among other industries. Its core products are AutoCAD (its first product, started in 1982) and Revit, which both serve the architectural, design, and construction industries.

Revit was purchased by Autodesk in 2002 for $133 million in cash and has grown rapidly ever since. It is the most popular software program for designing buildings that follow Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards. BIM, at its most basic, means a 3D digital representation of a physical building, and it is slowly becoming the standard for the architectural and construction industry globally. Analysts expect the BIM industry to grow 3.7% annually through 2028. Given Revit's importance to the BIM industry, it should be able to ride this wave and grow its sales and profits at or above the industry average.

Outside of Revit and AutoCAD, Autodesk has made big investments in its Fusion 360 platform (mechanical and manufacturing design), the Autodesk Construction Cloud (workflow tools for on-site teams), and Maya (3D animation software). These products are not as important as AutoCAD and Revit right now, but provide lots of optionality for Autodesk to grow in the future. For example, over the last three years, Fusion 360 has increased its billings at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 107%. If this continues, it will become a major part of the Autodesk growth story shortly.

Looking at its financials, Autodesk has been able to grow its annual revenue at an impressive rate since going public over three decades ago. Trailing-12-month revenue is up over 40,000% since its initial public offering, which has come from the continued digitizations of the industries it serves plus numerous acquisitions over the years (like Revit). This growth should continue, and has enabled Autodesk to become incredibly profitable at the same time.

In fiscal year 2023 (calendar year 2022), Autodesk expects to generate $2.4 billion in free cash flow (FCF). With its current market cap of $56 billion, that gives the stock a forward price-to-free-cash-flow (P/FCF) ratio of 23 if it can hit its fiscal year 2023 target. In my book, this makes Autodesk a quality business trading at a discounted valuation.

Adobe

Adobe is a similar business to Autodesk, as it is a collection of software programs. However, instead of serving the design, construction, and engineering industries, Adobe sells software programs for digital creators and simple business needs. It separates its business units into three categories: the Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Document Cloud, and Adobe Experience Cloud. All programs are sold as software-as-a-service (SaaS) subscriptions.

The Adobe Creative Cloud includes programs like Photoshop, Audition, and Illustrator. Each program serves a specific purpose, but they are all tailored to helping individuals and businesses create digital products. The Document Cloud includes things like PDFs (one of Adobe's oldest products) and digital signatures, and are sold to small businesses to help them save time and money in creating and sending documents. Lastly, the Experience Cloud is for marketing automation, analytics, and broader business goals.

All these products have steady and growing demand, which has helped Adobe grow its profits and cash flow over the last decade. Over the last 12 months, Adobe has generated $6.9 billion in FCF, which is up from only around $1 billion in 2014. With a market cap of $250 billion, the stock trades at a P/FCF of 36. If you believe in the continued growth of Adobe's three main product categories, its annual cash generation should continue to march higher over the next decade, providing an opportunity for investors to buy the stock at a somewhat reasonable valuation.

Alphabet

We've likely all used Alphabet's products at some point in our lives, probably multiple times every day at this point. The company owns and operates Google, YouTube, Google Cloud (GCP), Waze, Fitbit, and many other companies. From an investment perspective, the most important are Google Search/Maps, YouTube, and GCP. The other business units are either small or more speculative and should be treated as icing on the cake of this investment.

Google Services as a whole (which includes YouTube) generated $53 billion in revenue in the third quarter, up 40.7% year over year. YouTube itself did $7.2 billion in revenue just in the quarter, up 43% year over year. The Google Services segment is where more than 100% of Alphabet's operating profit is currently generated (the other segments lose money), bringing in just under $24 billion last quarter. GCP, which did $5 billion in revenue last quarter, growing 45% year over year, lost $644 million in the period. Other Bets, which includes moonshot investments like Waymo (autonomous driving), lost $1.2 billion in the third quarter, which is around what the segment burns each quarter.

I bring up the discrepancy in segment profitability because it highlights how cheap Alphabet stock is right now. GCP, which is a competitor to Amazon's AWS, should achieve north of 20% operating margins (AWS has 30% margins) once it matures. The Other Bets are less easy to predict, but it is unlikely the company will burn over $1 billion a quarter and achieve no profits indefinitely. This means that even if overall organic revenue growth for Alphabet slows down this decade (which is likely to occur because of how large its revenue base is), its profits and cash flow should grow at a higher rate once these non-Google Services segments mature.

GOOG free cash flow. Data by YCharts.

You can see it in Alphabet's FCF chart. Over the last few years, the company's annual FCF generation has moved higher, hitting $65.7 billion in the last 12 months alone. With the steady growth of Google Services and operating leverage at GCP, $100 billion in annual FCF within a few years is not out of the question.

With a market cap of $1.8 trillion, Alphabet stock trades at a P/FCF of 28.5. If you believe FCF will continue to inflect in the coming years, right now looks like a great time to buy Alphabet stock at a reasonable valuation.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Looking for Tech Stocks? With its current market cap of $56 billion, that gives the stock a forward price-to-free-cash-flow (P/FCF) ratio of 23 if it can hit its fiscal year 2023 target. In my book, this makes Autodesk a quality business trading at a discounted valuation.AdobeAdobe is a similar business to Autodesk, as it is a collection of software programs. If you believe in the continued growth of Adobe's three main product categories, its annual cash generation should continue to march higher over the next decade, providing an opportunity for investors to buy the stock at a somewhat reasonable valuation.AlphabetWe've likely all used Alphabet's products at some point in our lives, probably multiple times every day at this point. The company owns and operates Google, YouTube, Google Cloud (GCP), Waze, Fitbit, and many other companies. From an investment perspective, the most important are Google Search/Maps, YouTube, and GCP. The other business units are either small or more speculative and should be treated as icing on the cake of this investment.Google Services as a whole (which includes YouTube) generated $53 billion in revenue in the third quarter, up 40.7% year over year. Other Bets, which includes moonshot investments like Waymo (autonomous driving), lost $1.2 billion in the third quarter, which is around what the segment burns each quarter.I bring up the discrepancy in segment profitability because it highlights how cheap Alphabet stock is right now. GCP, which is a competitor to Amazon's AWS, should achieve north of 20% operating margins (AWS has 30% margins) once it matures. The Other Bets are less easy to predict, but it is unlikely the company will burn over $1 billion a quarter and achieve no profits indefinitely. This means that even if overall organic revenue growth for Alphabet slows down this decade (which is likely to occur because of how large its revenue base is), its profits and cash flow should grow at a higher rate once these non-Google Services segments mature.GOOG free cash flow. If you believe FCF will continue to inflect in the coming years, right now looks like a great time to buy Alphabet stock at a reasonable valuation.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":257,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9005229389,"gmtCreate":1642316737960,"gmtModify":1676533700864,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$Can buy below $8?","listText":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$Can buy below $8?","text":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$Can buy below $8?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9005229389","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":440,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9022384724,"gmtCreate":1653477293468,"gmtModify":1676535288941,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$[Facepalm] ","listText":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$[Facepalm] ","text":"$Nu Holdings Ltd.(NU)$[Facepalm]","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/392a58a3f727e8b6923a573ae908beb2","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9022384724","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":443,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9084257462,"gmtCreate":1650879663352,"gmtModify":1676534807901,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅😅","listText":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅😅","text":"$ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.(ZIM)$😅😅","images":[{"img":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/e060c63f4fd7cbd27a3aa50ec141f432","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9084257462","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":439,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9080993674,"gmtCreate":1649827005537,"gmtModify":1676534585352,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9080993674","repostId":"2226866854","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2226866854","pubTimestamp":1649813060,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2226866854?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-04-13 09:24","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Shopify, Alphabet, Amazon, and Tesla Stocks Are Splitting -- Which Ones Are the Best Buys?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2226866854","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These tech superstars offer compelling reasons to buy and hold for the long haul.","content":"

Shopify just joined Amazon, Alphabet, and Tesla in announcing stock splits.

Rather, it's been the company's success in allocating capital to highly profitable new projects adjacent to its e-commerce empire that has been the key ingredient to its success.Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing segment that started simply by \"renting out\" extra data center capacity from the e-commerce segment, generated only 13% of all revenue last year. However, AWS operating profit accounted for 75% of Amazon's grand total. Other services like advertising on its merchant platform accounted for much of the rest of operating income.Amazon spent an incredible $65 billion on capital expenditures (property, plant, and equipment) to support its long-term growth last year. Amazon is also undergoing a 20-for-1 stock split in May, but there is a multitude of longer-term reasons to buy and hold beyond this one-time stock split event.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":226,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9095290972,"gmtCreate":1644917362754,"gmtModify":1676533975409,"author":{"id":"3566898370181586","authorId":"3566898370181586","name":"Leschew","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/d6c3ed463931caf388482125436b6fe5","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566898370181586","authorIdStr":"3566898370181586"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Can short to 100?","listText":"Can short to 100?","text":"Can short to 100?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9095290972","repostId":"2211686008","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2211686008","pubTimestamp":1644908201,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2211686008?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-15 14:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Cathie Wood’s Ark Bought Sea Shares as Gaming Firm Plunged","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2211686008","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Cathie Wood took advantage of a record slump in Sea Ltd., snapping up more of the gam","content":"

(Bloomberg) -- Cathie Wood took advantage of a record slump in Sea Ltd., snapping up more of the gaming firm’s shares after India banned one of its products.

Wood’s thematic investing firm ARK Investment Management LLC bought more than 145,000 Sea shares on Monday, with the Ark Next Generation Internet ETF buying up the bulk, according to the firm’s daily trading updates compiled by Bloomberg.
