This might make it appeal","content":"

AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) has been falling for the past several months. This might make it appealing to value seekers. AMC stock is now down $22.78 per share as of Jan. 10. But this is down from its recent peak of $51.69 on Sept. 13. That gives it a tumble of 55% from the peak.

On the one hand, that might be pretty concerning to many investors. But to others, including value investors, it might just well be worth looking at again. That is especially the case for those who missed its move up earlier this year.

In fact, as I wrote last month, the world’s largest movie chain is now clearly in a turnaround situation. People are going back to see movies in a big way. AMC reported that it had record sales during the pre-Christmas runup. This is going to accrue to AMC’s fourth quarter earnings and cash flow situation and could help push up AMC stock.

Where Things Stand For AMC Entertainment

On Dec. 22, AMC reported that it set a post-reopening single-day attendance record in the U.S. In fact, based on the opening weekend strength of Marvel & Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man No Way Home,” AMC broke several post-reopening attendance records. For three days straight that weekend its opening attendance records were broken each day.

Moreover, AMC globally sold more than two million tickets on Dec. 21. This was the largest single-day record ever since Christmas Day 2019.

Anyone who goes to movies knows that AMC makes a lot of money not only from movies but also the concessions (popcorn, soda, candy, etc.) they sell. As a result, I suspect that the Q4 earnings statement will bring a good deal of cash flow to the bottom line. This may result in a surprise earnings result.

Where Things Stand With AMC Stock

For example, although analysts still expect negative earnings per share (EPS) this year, that may not mean that the company will have negative free cash flow (FCF). For example, the revenue estimate for Q4 2021 from seven analysts surveyed by Seeking Alpha is for $2.49 billion. But by the end of 2022, they forecast $4.57 billion, or 83.5% higher than 2021.

However, as it stands, the company’s third-quarter earnings report showed that its operating cash burn during Q3 was just $31.2 million. This improved significantly from the $127 million burned during the second quarter and $322 million during the first quarter.

As a result, I expect that by the end of Q4 2022, AMC will clearly be making significant amounts of FCF. I suspect that is FCF margin will rise to at least 10% and probably 15% on a run-rate basis by Q4. But just using a 10% FCF margin we can therefore forecast that 2022 FCF will be $457 million (i.e., 10% x $4.57 billion).

What AMC Stock Is Worth

The best way to value AMC stock is to use an FCF yield metric. For example, at a 3% FCF yield, the stock has a target market value of $15.23 billion. This is seen by dividing $457 million by 3%.

So now, AMC Entertainment presently has a market capitalization of $11.69 billion. Therefore, using a 3% FCF yield metric, which is very cheap, AMC stock has an upside of at least 30% (i.e., $15.23b/$11.69b -1).

And using a 2% FCF yield, the stock has an even higher upside. For example, dividing $457 million in forecast FCF by 2%, the stock has a target value of $22.85 billion. That represents an upside of 95.5% for the stock. Even if it takes two years for this to work out, the average annual return will be 39.8% for each year.

So, in just about any way you measure it, AMC stock looks like a pretty good bargain going forward. From my calculations, the upside ranges from 30% to 95%, with an average of 38% annually for the next two years.

","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
If AMC Stock Stays Cheap Like Now, Value Investors Will Keep Buying It
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nIf AMC Stock Stays Cheap Like Now, Value Investors Will Keep Buying It\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-12 13:26 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) has been falling for the past several months. Facebook (FB) stands to make even more money than Snap. Analysts expect a net profit of nearly $7 billion, which amounts to $2.61 a share, when Facebook reports results after the closing bell Wednesday.
\n
Including sales of its virtual reality hardware, and other devices—which are expected contribute to the estimated $452 million to the “Other” revenue segment—Facebook revenue is expected to rise roughly 33% to $23.71 billion. The ad business will contribute revenue of $23.29 billion.
\n
Facebook is expected to grow its user base by tens of millions as well. Analysts forecast its daily member count will rise to 1.87 billion, and monthly user base will top 2.83 billion. Its monthly user base is expected to reach almost 3 billion (2.99 billion) by the end of the year.
\n
Beyond advertising, BMO Capital Markets analyst Daniel Salmon wrote in a research note that commerce and shopping are becoming more important for Facebook’s success.
\n
In March, Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said there were one million Facebook Shops, and 250 million visitors. Salmon said that if the company discloses the gross merchandise volume, it could help cement the importance to investors of Facebook’s commerce initiatives. Salmon acknowledged that such as disclosure wasn’t likely.
\n
Investors have been wondering for months about the impact of a change to Apple‘s mobile operating system tech, which finally rolled out this week.
\n
On Monday, in an update to its iOS operating system,Apple changed its software to ask iPhone and iPad users to opt in to an app’s tracking—a significant departure from the opt out ability buried in the operating system’s settings previously.
\n
Zuckerberg and Apple (APPL) CEO Tim Cook have sparred over the issue for months. With just over a day’s worth of data, it seems unlikely Facebook will share details about the impact on its users. Previously developers have said it will hurt advertising targeting, and therefore damage ad revenue. It isn’t yet clear exactly what Apple users will do when presented with the choice, or the effectiveness of potential workarounds built by Facebook and others.
\n
BofA Securities analyst Justin Post wrote that he expects a “modest, low-single digit” impact on advertising spending on the platform since Facebook has had “ample time to prepare and develop workarounds.”
\n
Facebook finance chief David Wehner has discussed the potential impact on the business in past conference calls, and investors should pay close attention to any updates offered Wednesday. It’s worth noting that Zuckerberg took a less cautious tone in March, saying that he was confident the company will handle the situation. There is also the potential it could positively benefit the company, the CEO said.
\n
Of the analysts that cover Facebook, 49 rate the stock Buy, six have a Hold, and three rate it a Sell. The average target price is $339, which implies an upside of 12%.
\n
Barron’s took a positive view of Facebook stock earlier this month. Shares have climbed 2% since the cover story in the April 5 issue, as the S&P 500 index rose 4.1%. GAAP loss per share of ($0.92) and core loss per share (non-GAAP)* of ($1.53) reflect year-over-year KC-46A Tanker improvement, higher 737 deliveries, and lower commercial airplanes period costs, partially offset by lower tax benefits and higher interest expense. Boeing recorded operating cash flow of ($3.4) billion.\"I am proud of the progress our global team made across our business in the first quarter as we continued to transform our enterprise, strengthen our safety processes, and sustain critical investments for our future,\" said Boeing President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun. \"While the global pandemic continues to challenge the overall market environment, we view 2021 as a key inflection point for our industry as vaccine distribution accelerates and we work together across government and industry to help enable a robust recovery. Our balanced commercial, defense, space and services portfolio continues to provide critical stability for our business – and we remain focused on safety, quality and integrity as we deliver on our customer commitments.\"Operating cash flow improved to ($3.4) billion in the quarter, reflecting timing of receipts and expenditures and higher 737 deliveries, partially offset by lower 787 deliveries and lower advance payments (Table 2).Cash and investments in marketable securities decreased to $21.9 billion, compared to $25.6 billion at the beginning of the quarter, primarily driven by operating cash outflows (Table 3). The company refinanced $9.8 billion of debt in the quarter. Additionally, the company increased its revolving credit facilities by $5.3 billion to a total of $14.8 billion, which remain undrawn.Total company backlog at quarter-end was $364 billion.Segment ResultsCommercial AirplanesCommercial Airplanes first-quarter revenue decreased to $4.3 billion, driven by lower 787 deliveries, partially offset by higher 737 deliveries (Table 4). First-quarter operating margin improved to (20.1) percent, primarily due to higher 737 deliveries and lower period costs.Boeing is continuing to make progress on the safe return to service of the 737 MAX worldwide. In addition, we are working closely with the FAA and our customers to address electrical issues identified in certain locations in the flight deck of select 737 MAX airplanes. Since the FAA's approval to return the 737 MAX to operations in November 2020, Boeing has delivered more than 85 737 MAX aircraft and 21 airlines have returned their fleets to service, safely flying more than 26,000 revenue flights totaling over 58,500 flight hours (as of April 26, 2021). The 737 program is currently producing at a low rate and continues to expect to gradually increase production to 31 per month in early 2022 with further gradual increases to correspond with market demand. The company will continue to assess the production rate plan as it monitors the market environment and engages in customer discussions. The company also resumed 787 deliveries in late March, following comprehensive reviews to ensure each airplane meets the company's highest standards. During the quarter, the 787 program consolidated final assembly to Boeing South Carolina and transitioned to the previously announced production rate of 5 aircraft per month.Commercial Airplanes continues to work closely with global regulators on all aspects of 777X development, including its rigorous test program, and the company still expects to deliver the first 777X in late 2023.
