weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter results. The company provided Q1 sales guidance that came in well below Wall Street’s average outlook. Nio, however, noted that its Q4 revenue had surged 62% versus the same period a year earlier. At the time of writing, NIO stock is down about 6% on Wednesday trading and is down about 58% compared to this time last year.

Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) advanced 3.8% and XPeng (NASDAQ:XPEV) slipped 0.67%. Li also reported its Q4 results and provided Q1 delivery guidance, while all three automakers announced their February 2023 delivery numbers.

The numbers suggest that, although Nio may be losing ground in China’s EV race, the country’s EV sector and its EV startups are generally rebounding as the government loosens its anti-coronavirus measures.

Nio’s Q4 Results and Q1 Guidance

Nio reported that it lost 44 cents per share, excluding certain items, last quarter, meaningfully worse than analysts’ average estimates of 23 cents per share. On the top line, its sales came in at $2.33 billion, versus the mean estimate of $2.56 billion.

However, as previously noted, its revenue jumped 62% year-over-year last quarter, while its Q4 deliveries soared 60% year-over-year and rose 27% versus Q3 to 40,052. For the current quarter, on the other hand, it predicts that its sales will come in around $1.6 billion, well below the $2.33 billion of sales that it reported for last quarter and meaningfully lower than analysts’ mean outlook of $2.78 billion.

The Data From Li and Xpeng

Li reported Q4 earnings per share, excluding certain items, of 13 cents, well above analysts’ average estimate of 6 cents. At the same time, its top line climbed 66% year-over-year to $2.56 billion, coming in slightly above the mean estimate.

Further, its EV deliveries rose 31.5% YOY last quarter to 46,319. For Q1, Li predicts that its deliveries will soar 64%-73.4% versus the same period a year earlier to 52,000-55,000. The company provided Q1 sales guidance that came in well below Wall Street’s average outlook. Nio, however, noted that its Q4 revenue had surged 62% versus the same period a year earlier. At the time of writing, NIO stock is down about 6% on Wednesday trading and is down about 58% compared to this time last year.Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) advanced 3.8% and XPeng (NASDAQ:XPEV) slipped 0.67%. Li also reported its Q4 results and provided Q1 delivery guidance, while all three automakers announced their February 2023 delivery numbers. The numbers suggest that, although Nio may be losing ground in China’s EV race, the country’s EV sector and its EV startups are generally rebounding as the government loosens its anti-coronavirus measures.Nio’s Q4 Results and Q1 GuidanceNio reported that it lost 44 cents per share, excluding certain items, last quarter, meaningfully worse than analysts’ average estimates of 23 cents per share. The Data From Li and XpengLi reported Q4 earnings per share, excluding certain items, of 13 cents, well above analysts’ average estimate of 6 cents. At the same time, its top line climbed 66% year-over-year to $2.56 billion, coming in slightly above the mean estimate.Further, its EV deliveries rose 31.5% YOY last quarter to 46,319. For Q1, Li predicts that its deliveries will soar 64%-73.4% versus the same period a year earlier to 52,000-55,000. It expects to generate $2.53 billion to $2.68 billion of revenue in Q1, versus the mean estimate of $2.5 billion.During February, the EV maker’s deliveries soared 97.5% to 16,620.For its part, Xpeng reported that its deliveries in February had risen 15% versus January to 6,010. However, its deliveries fell 3.5% year-over-year.XPEV noted that its “advanced driver assistant” feature would be available “in a number of [China’s] cities starting this month.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":329,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9957475121,"gmtCreate":1677527344763,"gmtModify":1677527349026,"author":{"id":"3568605490338063","authorId":"3568605490338063","name":"marcothen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f2e8f0b7670f813d1cc0d139b402ac09","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568605490338063","authorIdStr":"3568605490338063"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"What happened?","listText":"What happened?","text":"What happened?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9957475121","repostId":"2314550296","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2314550296","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1677509545,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2314550296?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-02-27 22:52","market":"us","language":"en","title":"FuboTV Beats Q4 Estimates but Shares Fall 16%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2314550296","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Shares of FuboTV fell 16% in morning trading despite the sports-focused live TV streaming service re","content":"

Shares of FuboTV fell 16% in morning trading despite the sports-focused live TV streaming service reporting better-than-expected Q4 results.

The company then disclosed it raised $68.1 million after selling 36.7M shares in “block trades to multiple investors under the Company’s at-the-market [ATM] program.”

“The Shares were sold at negotiated discounts to the closing sale price of the Common Stock on the New York Stock Exchange on February 24, 2023,” Fubo said in a filing.

For its fourth quarter, FUBO reported a loss per share of $0.39 on revenue of $319.3M. Buying on the dip remains the core principle of her investing philosophy — and Tesla has been on a major dip for months. Cathie Wood’s recent buy, worth roughly $19 million, came as shares fell by 12%. Seeking Alpha reports:

“Wood added a total of 176,112 shares of Tesla to Ark Invest, with her flagship fund ARK Innovation ETF […] taking on the lion’s share of 144,776 shares. Even as Wood continues buying TSLA stock, there’s no question that uncertainty is rising. The New York Times reports that, following the recent large-scale selloff, Tesla investors are bracing for a difficult year ahead. Memo","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2291954055","media":"Reuters","summary":"SINGAPORE, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Grab Holdings Ltd, Southeast Asia's biggest ride-hailing and food deli","content":"

SINGAPORE, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Grab Holdings Ltd, Southeast Asia's biggest ride-hailing and food delivery firm, is rolling out cost-cutting measures to cope with an uncertain macroeconomic situation, the Singapore-based company's chief executive told staff in a memo.

The measures include a freeze on most hirings, salary freezes for senior managers and cuts in travel and expense budgets, according to the memo, whose contents were confirmed by a company spokesperson.

"None of these decisions were easy, but are meant to help us get leaner and fitter, as we accelerate even faster towards sustainable, profitable growth," CEO Anthony Tan said in the memo, which was sent to the staff on Wednesday and was viewed by Reuters. "More so than ever, all Grabbers need to adopt a frugal and prudent mindset as we prepare for 2023."

Last month, Grab raised its 2022 revenue forecast, reported a narrower adjusted operating loss and said its food and grocery delivery business broke even three quarters ahead of the company's expectations.

Tan said in the memo that Southeast Asia has not, and will not, be spared from rising prices and interest rates, and the consequent effects on growth.

Grab's new measures "will also help us avert knee-jerk reactions that may interrupt our plans down the road," he said.

Decade-old Grab, a household name in eight Southeast Asian countries, has been trying to stem losses by focusing on higher-paying customers and lowering spending on incentives. Grab, which operates in 480 cities in eight countries, had about 8,800 staff at the end of 2021.

In September, Grab's chief operating officer, Alex Hungate, told Reuters that the company did not envision having to undertake mass layoffs as some rivals, including Uber Inc have done. Instead, Hungate said, the company would selectively hire, while reining in its financial-services ambitions.

The memo circulated on Wednesday said Grab would "freeze the majority of current open job requisitions which are not in offer stage". Thankfully, for owners of NIO stock, it’s rebounded nicely. As I write this, shares of the electric vehicle maker are trading around $22.23, and well off the 52-week low of $18.47.

When I last wrote about Nio, I said it was a slam-dunk buy under $20. Now flirting with its lowest levels in 18 months, management better be buying back its stock. If it doesn’t, I will have to reassess my bullish opinion of NIO stock. Here’s why.

NIO Stock Is Cheap Under $20

As I stated on Feb. 3, Nio’s market capitalization on Jan. 31, 2021, was $82 billion, the same as Ford’s (NYSE:F) a year later. In 13 months, Nio’s market cap lost 64% of its value, while Ford’s gained more than 61%.

Talk about two cars going in different directions. Ford’s printing money while Nio’s trying to get the attention of investors despite the fact it added 93,856 vehicles over 12 months through Jan. 31, an increase of 113%.

What did Ford do over the same period?

In the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2021, its U.S. sales were down 6.8% to 1.91 million. Its European sales were down 9.9% to 878,648, and in China, it sold approximately 624,000 vehicles in 2021, a 3.7% year-over-year gain.

According to pg. 5 of its 2021 10-K, it sold 4.2 million vehicles last year worldwide, 300,000 less than in 2020 and 1.3 million less than 2019. Over the previous three years, Ford has lost almost 1% market share worldwide. Yet it was the one getting the valuation bump, not Nio.

It makes Little Sense

If you look at the two companies from an EV perspective and one considers the transition to electric a foregone conclusion — as I do despite — there is no question that Nio is giving as good as it gets on this front.

Ford makes a big stink about its push into EVs. In its December 2021 U.S. sales press release, it highlights that, “Ford electrified vehicles grew 36% faster than the segment overall in 2021 while achieving new sales records for the month of December and all of 2021.”

In the U.S., Ford sold 12,284 electrified vehicles, 121% higher than December 2020 and 4x faster than the overall segment in December. Yet its 10-K barely mentions any of this electrification excitement.

Ford sold 27,000 EVs in 2021, while Nio delivered 91,429, 2.4x that amount.

One last thing on the valuation front.

Ford finished 2021 with $103.0 billion in net debt on its balance sheet. Nio ended 2021 with $3.8 billion in net cash. Yet Ford is the one with the pumped-up valuation?

Look, I like the look of many of Ford’s newest vehicles — Mustang E-Mach, Bronco, and Maverick — but I don’t get the difference between the two companies’ valuations.

The Bottom Line

In the first nine months of 2021 through Sep. 30, Nio’s capital expenditures were $371 million. Thankfully, for owners of NIO stock, it’s rebounded nicely. As I write this, shares of the electric vehicle maker are trading around $22.23, and well off the 52-week low of $18.47.When I last wrote about Nio, I said it was a slam-dunk buy under $20. Now flirting with its lowest levels in 18 months, management better be buying back its stock. If it doesn’t, I will have to reassess my bullish opinion of NIO stock. Here’s why.NIO Stock Is Cheap Under $20As I stated on Feb. 3, Nio’s market capitalization on Jan. 31, 2021, was $82 billion, the same as Ford’s (NYSE:F) a year later. In 13 months, Nio’s market cap lost 64% of its value, while Ford’s gained more than 61%.Talk about two cars going in different directions. Ford’s printing money while Nio’s trying to get the attention of investors despite the fact it added 93,856 vehicles over 12 months through Jan. 31, an increase of 113%.What did Ford do over the same period? In the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2021, its U.S. sales were down 6.8% to 1.91 million. Its European sales were down 9.9% to 878,648, and in China, it sold approximately 624,000 vehicles in 2021, a 3.7% year-over-year gain.According to pg. 5 of its 2021 10-K, it sold 4.2 million vehicles last year worldwide, 300,000 less than in 2020 and 1.3 million less than 2019. Over the previous three years, Ford has lost almost 1% market share worldwide. Yet it was the one getting the valuation bump, not Nio.It makes Little SenseIf you look at the two companies from an EV perspective and one considers the transition to electric a foregone conclusion — as I do despite — there is no question that Nio is giving as good as it gets on this front.Ford makes a big stink about its push into EVs. In its December 2021 U.S. sales press release, it highlights that, “Ford electrified vehicles grew 36% faster than the segment overall in 2021 while achieving new sales records for the month of December and all of 2021.”In the U.S., Ford sold 12,284 electrified vehicles, 121% higher than December 2020 and 4x faster than the overall segment in December. Yet its 10-K barely mentions any of this electrification excitement.Ford sold 27,000 EVs in 2021, while Nio delivered 91,429, 2.4x that amount. One last thing on the valuation front.Ford finished 2021 with $103.0 billion in net debt on its balance sheet. Nio ended 2021 with $3.8 billion in net cash. Yet Ford is the one with the pumped-up valuation?Look, I like the look of many of Ford’s newest vehicles — Mustang E-Mach, Bronco, and Maverick — but I don’t get the difference between the two companies’ valuations. The Bottom LineIn the first nine months of 2021 through Sep. 30, Nio’s capital expenditures were $371 million. Annualize that, and it’s $494 million. So it’s got plenty of cash in reserve to handle a $1 billion buyback. At current prices — and assuming a 25% premium for moving the stock higher due to its share repurchases — it could buy back 38.57 million American Depositary Shares (ADSs), or 3.5% of the outstanding ADSs.It’s not a massive reduction, but it would signal to investors that enough is enough. Its shares are too cheap to mess around.Further, as Nio rolls out its fourth (ET7) and fifth vehicles, the cash flow generation will continue to accelerate, adding even more net cash to the balance sheet. Ford, in the meantime, will have to deliver near-perfection on the EV front if it ever wants to get a price-to-sales ratio above one.The announcement alone should help move the share price a few dollars higher. From where I sit, it seems like an intelligent capital allocation lever for management to pull at this point in the proceedings.I’ll be watching in the coming weeks for an announcement from the company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":123,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"4100927749199030","authorId":"4100927749199030","name":"rL","avatar":"https://static.itradeup.com/news/c384e401e7f8351ebcacd05560f0845f","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"4100927749199030","authorIdStr":"4100927749199030"},"content":"Bro. Wh","content":"

Thesis Summary

NIO Inc (NYSE:NIO) has seen its share price drop by near 15% in the last five days. While general market weakness has certainly played a part in this, NIO has been facing challenges at home. Most notably, NIO has had to suspend production due to COVID induced lockdowns around China. This is cause for concern, but the current sell-off is overblown.

A lot has happened with NIO in the last couple of weeks, and if we look at these developments closely, we can see that the good outweighs the bad. NIO is transforming itself into much more than an EV maker.

Supply Issues Are Overblown

First off, let’s address the issue of supply. NIO has been forced to suspend production because many of its supply partners are in cities facing harsh lockdowns. These include Jilin, Shanghai and Jiangsu. Shanghai, where NIO is headquartered, has been in a phased lockdown since the end of March.

NIO is no stranger to production halts, as it also faced issues in October 2021, when production was stopped due to upgrades being carried out. These were necessary to begin production of the ET7.

Having to stop production is a problem for a car company, but investors should not be overly concerned.

For starters, NIO is not the only one facing this problem. Other EV makers such as Tesla Inc (TSLA) and XPeng (XPEV) have also halted production. This is a sector-wide problem that doesn’t only affect NIO.

Secondly, investors should understand that, where possible, work is being carried out. Halting production doesn’t mean that the factory is closed down. In fact, NIO could use this as a chance to carry out further upgrades to its supply lines, since I believe there is still work to be done in that area.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that NIO, which has often been criticized for not having its production facilities, is addressing this issue head-on. In my last article, I mentioned that NIO has almost completed the building of its F2 manufacturing facility in the NeoPark. With both factories fully operational, NIO will be able to produce close to 240,000 units per year

More importantly though, last week NIO increased its stake in its joint venture with JAC Motors to 50%. JAC is NIO’s main production partner, and the two established a JV on March 31st of 2021 called Jianglai. Rumor is that Jianglai will be responsible for producing NIO’s sub-brand, which targets the mass market.

NIO: More than a car company

While investors are panicking over the supply issues, NIO is delivering encouraging news and catalysts for future growth.

First off, NIO reported very strong monthly deliveries, with a 37.6% YoY increase. NIO deployed 884 Power Swap stations and 727 Power Charger stations, as well as 3,832 destination chargers in China. And this is where it gets interesting.

NIO has recently begun building out its power stations in Europe, and the company is in talks with other car companies to begin leasing out its infrastructure. This would be a huge move for NIO and could change the way the company is perceived by the market.

What separates NIO from other EV companies are two things. One is that it primarily promotes the utilization of Battery-as-a-Service. And two, that it has built out an immense infrastructure of battery swap stations in China, and is now doing this to Europe.

Building swap stations are big investments, with estimated costs of $772,00, in China, and charging other companies to use its battery swap stations would be a win-win. It would help NIO monetize its infrastructure, and save other EV manufacturers millions in investments.

In order for other EVs to use these stations, though, there would have to be some degree of standardization in the batteries, but this doesn't have to be an obstacle. NIO could also lend other companies a hand in designing their batteries, an area in which NIO has extensive expertise. NIO has a total of 2,768 patents in China, 204 in Europe and 193 more in the United States.

NIO is not only an EV manufacturer, it is a company with a very large infrastructure and extensive intellectual capital. This is perhaps the most significant reason I own NIO.

For now, it seems like Lotus Technology could be one of NIO’s first customers. It is worth mentioning though, that Lotus is partially owned by NIO

Risks

What I like about NIO is that it is laying the foundations for long-term success. However, the question remains whether BaaS will become standard practice amongst EV manufacturers. NIO certainly believes so and has placed its battery swap stations next to Tesla’s superchargers, to showcase the improved user experience.

NIO’s battery swap stations can change a battery in a matter of minutes. This also entails that you can always have a fully serviced battery, and the initial cost for the car is cheaper, with the battery cost being spread out month-to-month.

However, while the service is superior, in the long run, this is a more expensive endeavor. It involves changing the battery every time and building out a much more expensive network of stations.

Tesla’s superchargers are much cheaper to install, and they can charge 200 miles in 15 minutes. Is NIO’s battery swap worth it? The consumer will decide that. However, what is most concerning to me is that battery technology is still in its early stages. A lot may change in the next few years, including sizes, materials needed and charging times. Improvements in battery technology could render the advantages of BaaS over regular charging obsolete.

Takeaway

NIO’s shares have slid significantly in the last week, and this doesn't reflect the reality of what is happening. While supply issues are a challenge, NIO’s expansion in Europe and its growth prospects beyond the sale of EVs should be more than enough to keep investors interested. NIO is a leader in battery technology and is building out an incredibly valuable infrastructure. It’s just a matter of time before the market realizes this.

","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
NIO: Don't Buy Into The Fear, NIO Is An EV Pioneer
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNIO: Don't Buy Into The Fear, NIO Is An EV Pioneer\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-04-13 10:30 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Thesis SummaryNIO Inc (NYSE:NIO) has seen its share price drop by near 15% in the last five days. This would be a huge move for NIO and could change the way the company is perceived by the market. What separates NIO from other EV companies are two things. One is that it primarily promotes the utilization of Battery-as-a-Service. And two, that it has built out an immense infrastructure of battery swap stations in China, and is now doing this to Europe.Building swap stations are big investments, with estimated costs of $772,00, in China, and charging other companies to use its battery swap stations would be a win-win. NIO has a total of 2,768 patents in China, 204 in Europe and 193 more in the United States.NIO is not only an EV manufacturer, it is a company with a very large infrastructure and extensive intellectual capital. This is perhaps the most significant reason I own NIO.For now, it seems like Lotus Technology could be one of NIO’s first customers. It is worth mentioning though, that Lotus is partially owned by NIORisksWhat I like about NIO is that it is laying the foundations for long-term success. However, the question remains whether BaaS will become standard practice amongst EV manufacturers. NIO certainly believes so and has placed its battery swap stations next to Tesla’s superchargers, to showcase the improved user experience.NIO’s battery swap stations can change a battery in a matter of minutes. This also entails that you can always have a fully serviced battery, and the initial cost for the car is cheaper, with the battery cost being spread out month-to-month.However, while the service is superior, in the long run, this is a more expensive endeavor. It involves changing the battery every time and building out a much more expensive network of stations.Tesla’s superchargers are much cheaper to install, and they can charge 200 miles in 15 minutes. Is NIO’s battery swap worth it? The consumer will decide that. However, what is most concerning to me is that battery technology is still in its early stages. A lot may change in the next few years, including sizes, materials needed and charging times. Improvements in battery technology could render the advantages of BaaS over regular charging obsolete.TakeawayNIO’s shares have slid significantly in the last week, and this doesn't reflect the reality of what is happening. While supply issues are a challenge, NIO’s expansion in Europe and its growth prospects beyond the sale of EVs should be more than enough to keep investors interested. NIO is a leader in battery technology and is building out an incredibly valuable infrastructure. It’s just a matter of time before the market realizes this.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":64,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9034544840,"gmtCreate":1647928924531,"gmtModify":1676534281453,"author":{"id":"3568605490338063","authorId":"3568605490338063","name":"marcothen","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f2e8f0b7670f813d1cc0d139b402ac09","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568605490338063","authorIdStr":"3568605490338063"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I'll look see look see 1st ","listText":"I'll look see look see 1st ","text":"I'll look see look see 1st","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9034544840","repostId":"2221302190","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2221302190","pubTimestamp":1647926908,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2221302190?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-03-22 13:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Keep on Buying Tesla Stock, Says Analyst Ahead of \"Master Plan Part 3\"","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2221302190","media":"TipRanks","summary":"That Tesla (TSLA) is a law unto itself is already well-established. And assessing the current state of the auto industry, Jefferies analyst Philippe Houchois thinks the EV leader is once again operating on another level.“We have been trimming estimates across our OEM coverage, but we are raising them at Tesla on price increases more than compensating risk from volume and battery cost inflation. With cash accumulating at a faster pace than Tesla's ability to grow physically, we look forward to Elon Musk revealing Master Plan Part 3,” Houchois noted. That last part is a reference to Musk’s recent tweet. Based on how “transparent and prescient” previous versions were, Houchois anticipates the plan will “extend well beyond financing, storage and FSD, as these would barely dent a fast-growing cash pile.”Houchois’ comments and boost for revenue/EPS targets between 2022 and 2024 come off the back of Jefferies’ recent auto conference, where the positive message put forward by Tesla has resulted in his confident take. That said, there are still risks to take into account; supply chain woes, of course, and mostly to do with the global chip shortage. However, these are mitigated by the price hikes noted above and other bullish developments. Production is already ongoing at the Austin plant, the Berlin factory is set to open tomorrow (March 22), the Shanghai facility is on course to expand capacity toward 1 million units while a new plant should also be announced during the course of 2022.Rather than focusing on affordability, Tesla has also made “maximising profitability” a priority this year, which given current constraints makes sense but also appears to Houchois to be “more tactical than strategic.”While Houchois’ rating on TSLA remains a Buy, considering the “riskier macro and geopolitical environment for valuation,” the analyst has lowered the price target from $1,400 to $1,250. Still, there’s upside of ~36% from current levels.Overall, most analysts are in Tesla’s corner, though certainly not all are on board; the stock’s Moderate Buy consensus rating is based on 15 Buys, 6 Holds and 6 Sells. Going by the $46.22 average price target, the forecast calls for share appreciation of ~15% over the 12-month timeframe.
