The stock market has been a massive wealth creator over the decades if you had the patience to just sit tight. It's a fairly incredible feat that whether you look back over the last 100 years or just the past few decades, the average total return of the S&P 500 is around 10% annually.
\n
While traders have always jumped in and out of stocks, trying to pick the right entry and exit points, this year in particular has seen a tremendous influx of investors looking to ride the meme stock trend.
\n
No stock represents that phenomenon better than AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC), which is the best-performing stock in the market by far with gains of nearly 3,000% since the start of 2021.
\n

\n
\n
Bringing down the curtain on AMC
\n
Beyond just beating back hedge funds attacking the theater operator with short sales, investors have piled into AMC Entertainment because a vaccinated population can go to the movies once more to see all the films that studios banked during the pandemic. The influx of moviegoers will lift both admission revenue and the highly profitable concession sales, with business getting back to pre-COVID-19 levels.
\n
The problem is that AMC was a business in decline before the coronavirus outbreak. It's not just the theater operator's problem, it's an affliction the entire industry is suffering from.
\n
Theater ticket sales peaked at 1.57 billion in 2002 and have steadily fallen from there. In 2019, fewer than 1.23 billion tickets were sold.
\n
Theaters have masked the decline by charging more for a ticket, so despite falling sales, box office receipts have actually grown. The $9.1 billion generated 19 years ago became $11.2 billion just before the pandemic closed everything down.
\n
That may seem beneficial, but continuously rising prices, particularly with the advent of streaming video, have cut into the need to go to the box office, and all the major studios have committed to supporting their streaming services even as they send films to theaters.
\n
AMC also had to take on significant amounts of debt to survive the COVID outbreak. It ended the most recent quarter with $5.4 billion in long-term debt; $1.6 billion in current liabilities; and $4.9 billion in operating-lease expenses, of which $800 million is due this year, followed by another $1 billion next year.
\n
While it raised over $1 billion this year, it posted a loss of $567 million and burned through $313 million in cash.
\n
AMC Entertainment is not a place for long-term investors to park their money.
\n
Forget AMC and consider these meme stocks instead
\n
Movie theaters aren't going away, but there are better places for your money, even among other so-called meme stocks. That's because they have a stronger business or better growth prospects than AMC. The following three stocks could all give you the excitement of the meme stock craze while offering long-term potential, as long as you don't get caught up in the excitement and overpay.
\n

\n
\n
1. Bed Bath & Beyond
\n
I had pretty much written off home furnishings retailer Bed Bath & Beyond (NASDAQ:BBBY) when it was still in the clutches of an entrenched management team with a sclerotic board of directors that failed to challenge leadership to make the changes necessary in an altered retail environment.
\n
Yet showing that hedge funds can be a force for good, activist investors cleaned house at the retailer, clearing out the C-suite and the board, and embarked on dismantling the sprawling collection of businesses that Bed Bath & Beyond had amassed.
\n
The pandemic struck at the worst possible time, just as the home goods store was going to focus on its narrowed core businesses. But now, as the economy is reopening, Bed Bath & Beyond has the chance to shine.
\n
One of the unique aspects of the retailer's business was its ability to generate inordinate amounts of cash. It used to regularly produce in excess of $1 billion of free cash flow (FCF), and just prior to the outbreak it was still generating $750 million worth. Then it was forced to close its stores, and the economy was upended. Yet even as it emerges from the wreckage, Bed Bath & Beyond reported it was already FCF positive, producing $62 million last quarter. Expect that to grow in the coming quarters.
\n
It has invested heavily in its e-commerce platform and its supply chain, and the narrower focus should allow it to return to its pre-eminent position atop the home goods industry.
\n

\n
\n
2. Corsair Gaming
\n
Corsair Gaming (NASDAQ:CRSR) is something of a more-recent phenomenon, as it only just went public last September. But the esports and live-streaming trend has so much potential for growth that Corsair -- an equipment and accessories maker -- should see tremendous lift in the years ahead.
\n
Unlike many other meme stocks, it wasn't hurt by the pandemic, but rather helped as people were forced to stay home and turned to gaming for their entertainment. Corsair has been around for years and has developed a reputation as a quality manufacturer, so its products were in high demand. Last quarter, it reported record results with revenue soaring 71% over the year-ago period to $529 million, and earnings surging to $0.41 per share from just $0.01 a year ago.
\n
The company is also new to the meme stock mania, only just joining the ranks as nearly 22% of its outstanding shares are sold short. The Reddit crowd obviously sees this stock as one to flip, and the price jumped 13% this week. But that's not the reason you want to buy it.
\n
Corsair makes high-end, high-performance headsets, keyboards, mice, controllers, and gear for live-streaming gamers and content creators. It also sells computer components including memory cards, cooling systems, and power supplies, and has two proprietary platforms, iCUE for gamers and the Elgato streaming suite for creators.
\n
The company points out that data from gaming and esports market researcher Newzoo shows an estimated 825 million console gamers globally in 2020, and over 40 million active gaming channels on Alphabet's YouTube. There are also millions of active streamers across Twitch and Facebook Gaming, as well as on platforms of Chinese gaming sites Huya and DouYu, to drive sales of gaming and content-creation gear.
\n
There's a substantial growth trajectory still ahead for Corsair Gaming, one that shouldn't be obscured by having become a meme stock favorite.
\n

\n
\n
3. GameStop
\n
As the original meme stock investment, GameStop (NYSE:GME) might be a surprising choice, particularly in light of the stock trading north of $220 per share, a 1,050% gain year to date. But that's where having patience and waiting for the momentum crowd to move on can reward you. GameStop actually has a turnaround-investment quality that could allow handsome profits.
\n
If theaters are on the decline, then video-game retail stores are sure to follow the same path as Blockbuster Video.
\n
Which is exactly why the new management team, almost wholly brought over from Amazon and Google, seeks to remake the video game retailer into a consumer-focused, online-oriented gaming company. Chairman Ryan Cohen envisions turning it into the \"Amazon of gaming.\"
\n
It's starting from a solid foundation, having used the meme stock trading frenzy that boosted its share price to raise new capital to completely pay off its debt. While that diluted existing shareholders, not something to be taken lightly, it did allow the company to replenish its coffers and position itself to implement its strategy.
\n
Since gaming is increasingly moving toward digital downloads and online play, it's essential GameStop move in that direction as well. Theaters can't really respond effectively to how viewers are watching movies today; GameStop has a chance to reinvent itself in a way few businesses can.
\n
There's no doubt GameStop is the riskiest of these three because it's a bet on an essentially untried transition. But the pandemic did show people turning to GameStop's e-commerce platform in record numbers, which indicates its well-known brand could be a beacon for customers seeking gaming media, equipment, reviews, and more from the retailer.
\n
Instead of betting on AMC's declining business and industry, GameStop is a stock that could pay off handsomely if you wait for it to offer attractive valuations.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Forget AMC: These 3 Meme Stocks Actually Have a Future
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nForget AMC: These 3 Meme Stocks Actually Have a Future\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-22 23:25 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Having a long-term outlook has always been an investor's greatest hidden asset. Then it was forced to close its stores, and the economy was upended. Yet even as it emerges from the wreckage, Bed Bath & Beyond reported it was already FCF positive, producing $62 million last quarter. Expect that to grow in the coming quarters.\nIt has invested heavily in its e-commerce platform and its supply chain, and the narrower focus should allow it to return to its pre-eminent position atop the home goods industry.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n2. Corsair Gaming\nCorsair Gaming (NASDAQ:CRSR) is something of a more-recent phenomenon, as it only just went public last September. But the esports and live-streaming trend has so much potential for growth that Corsair -- an equipment and accessories maker -- should see tremendous lift in the years ahead.\nUnlike many other meme stocks, it wasn't hurt by the pandemic, but rather helped as people were forced to stay home and turned to gaming for their entertainment. Corsair has been around for years and has developed a reputation as a quality manufacturer, so its products were in high demand. Last quarter, it reported record results with revenue soaring 71% over the year-ago period to $529 million, and earnings surging to $0.41 per share from just $0.01 a year ago.\nThe company is also new to the meme stock mania, only just joining the ranks as nearly 22% of its outstanding shares are sold short. The Reddit crowd obviously sees this stock as one to flip, and the price jumped 13% this week. But that's not the reason you want to buy it.\nCorsair makes high-end, high-performance headsets, keyboards, mice, controllers, and gear for live-streaming gamers and content creators. It also sells computer components including memory cards, cooling systems, and power supplies, and has two proprietary platforms, iCUE for gamers and the Elgato streaming suite for creators.\nThe company points out that data from gaming and esports market researcher Newzoo shows an estimated 825 million console gamers globally in 2020, and over 40 million active gaming channels on Alphabet's YouTube. There are also millions of active streamers across Twitch and Facebook Gaming, as well as on platforms of Chinese gaming sites Huya and DouYu, to drive sales of gaming and content-creation gear.\nThere's a substantial growth trajectory still ahead for Corsair Gaming, one that shouldn't be obscured by having become a meme stock favorite.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n3. GameStop\nAs the original meme stock investment, GameStop (NYSE:GME) might be a surprising choice, particularly in light of the stock trading north of $220 per share, a 1,050% gain year to date. But that's where having patience and waiting for the momentum crowd to move on can reward you. GameStop actually has a turnaround-investment quality that could allow handsome profits.\nIf theaters are on the decline, then video-game retail stores are sure to follow the same path as Blockbuster Video.\nWhich is exactly why the new management team, almost wholly brought over from Amazon and Google, seeks to remake the video game retailer into a consumer-focused, online-oriented gaming company. Chairman Ryan Cohen envisions turning it into the \"Amazon of gaming.\"\nIt's starting from a solid foundation, having used the meme stock trading frenzy that boosted its share price to raise new capital to completely pay off its debt. While that diluted existing shareholders, not something to be taken lightly, it did allow the company to replenish its coffers and position itself to implement its strategy.\nSince gaming is increasingly moving toward digital downloads and online play, it's essential GameStop move in that direction as well. Theaters can't really respond effectively to how viewers are watching movies today; GameStop has a chance to reinvent itself in a way few businesses can.\nThere's no doubt GameStop is the riskiest of these three because it's a bet on an essentially untried transition. But the pandemic did show people turning to GameStop's e-commerce platform in record numbers, which indicates its well-known brand could be a beacon for customers seeking gaming media, equipment, reviews, and more from the retailer.\nInstead of betting on AMC's declining business and industry, GameStop is a stock that could pay off handsomely if you wait for it to offer attractive valuations.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":391,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":133970927,"gmtCreate":1621690785469,"gmtModify":1704361504156,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Miser] ","listText":"[Miser] ","text":"[Miser]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/133970927","repostId":"2137290909","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":300,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198965069,"gmtCreate":1620919339451,"gmtModify":1704350538142,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm] ","listText":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm] ","text":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/198965069","repostId":"1186620588","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1186620588","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620915120,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1186620588?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-13 22:12","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Compelling Reasons to Avoid AMC Stock","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1186620588","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Poor fundamentals, heavy dilution and increasing competition make AMC stock a risky post-pandemic pl","content":"
Poor fundamentals, heavy dilution and increasing competition make AMC stock a risky post-pandemic play.

The pandemic hasn’t been easy for anyone, but it has been the toughest forAMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC). There is a lot going wrong for AMC and it may have been able to avoid bankruptcy, but its fundamentals are shaky. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the 3 reasons to avoid AMC stock.

Poor Fundamentals

AMC Entertainment recentlyreported the first quarter earnings and it incurred a loss of $567.2 million. Despite reopening most of its treaters, the company reported a loss of $1.42 a share which is higher than the $1.31 expected by the analysts. The revenue stood at $148.3 million which is a huge decline from the first quarter in 2020 while the cash balance was $813 million.

Even before the pandemic, the company’s business was flat. Even if we assume that moviegoers head to the theatres in the coming quarter, we must not expect impressive sales or revenue numbers.

It may take the entire year for the company to report strong revenue numbers. Considering the current capacity restraints, it is hard to expect the company to generate higher revenue and sales.

Heavy dilution

To survive the pandemic, AMC Entertainment has been burning a significant amount of cash and it has raised the cash through dilution. It may work well for the company but is harming the shareholders.

The company had earlier proposed the issue of 500 shares but scrapped it for the year and is planning to issue another 43 million shares. The company has quadrupled the share count in 2020. With each dilution, shareholders are losing value and investors are losing interest in the company. If AMC continues todilute the shares, there will be fewer takers for AMC stock in the future because it is a no-win scenario for investors.

Stiff competition

One cannot deny the fact that AMC Entertainment has stiff competition to handle. With a surge in OTT platforms and changing preferences of consumers, the theatre chain may not enjoy full movie rights from studios. Its biggest competition is withDisney (NYSE:DIS) who is making strong moves to continue using the Disney+ streaming service for new movies. It has entered into anagreement with Sonyfor the streaming of movies after the theatrical releases.

Consumers will be less willing to pay for a movie they can watch from the comfort of their homes. Several OTT platforms will be directly releasing movies without giving them a theatrical launch. Most of us are used to spending time at home and we have become accustomed to enjoying entertainment on our couches. Who would be willing to pay for a movie that is available at your home at your convenience?

The bottom line on AMC stock

If you are looking for a post-pandemic play, avoid AMC stock. There are several other options to consider.

Weak financials and changing consumer preferences make AMC a poor choice. The company will continue to face competition in the future, and will have to fight for a smaller number of customers to generate revenues. under political pressure from progressive Democrats such asElizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown- to let the temporary Supplementary Leverage Ratio (SLR) exemption expire as scheduled on March 31, the one year anniversary of the rule change.

The federal bank regulatory agencies today announced that the temporary change to the supplementary leverage ratio, or SLR, for depository institutions issued on May 15, 2020, will expire as scheduled on March 31, 2021.The temporary change was made to provide flexibility for depository institutions to provide credit to households and businesses in light of the COVID-19 event.

This outcome is theone (again) correctly predictedby former NY Fed guru Zoltan Pozsar who following the FOMC said that \"the fact that the Fed made this adjustment practically preemptively – the o/n RRP facility is not being used at the moment, so there are no capacity constraints yet, while repo and bill yields aren’t trading negative yet –suggests that the Fed is “foaming the runway” for the end of SLR exemption.\"

Knowing well this would be a very hot button issue for the market, the Fed published thefollowing statementto ease trader nerves, noting that while the SLR special treatment will expire on March 31, the Fed is \"inviting public comment on several potential SLR modifications\" and furthermore, \"Board may need to address the current design and calibration of the SLR over time to prevent strains from developing that could both constrain economic growth and undermine financial stability\" - in short, if yields spike, the Fed will re-introduce the SLR without delay:

The Federal Reserve Board on Friday announced that the temporary change to its supplementary leverage ratio, or SLR, for bank holding companies will expire as scheduled on March 31. Additionally, the Board will shortly seek comment on measures to adjust the SLR. The Board will take appropriate actions to assure that any changes to the SLR do not erode the overall strength of bank capital requirements. To ease strains in the Treasury market resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote lending to households and businesses, the Board temporarily modified the SLR last year to exclude U.S. Treasury securities and central bank reserves. Since that time, the Treasury market has stabilized. However, because of recent growth in the supply of central bank reserves and the issuance of Treasury securities, the Board may need to address the current design and calibration of the SLR over time to prevent strains from developing that could both constrain economic growth and undermine financial stability. To ensure that the SLR—which was established in 2014 as an additional capital requirement—remains effective in an environment of higher reserves, the Board will soon be inviting public comment on several potential SLR modifications. The proposal and comments will contribute to ongoing discussions with the Department of the Treasury and other regulators on future work to ensure the resiliency of the Treasury market.

The Fed's soothing wods notwithstanding, having been primed for a favorable outcome, the Fed's disappointing announcement was hardly the news traders were hoping for and stocks tumbled...

Bond yields spiked...

... while the stock of JPM, which is the most exposed bank to SLR relief (as noted yesterday in \"Facing Up To JP Morgan's Leverage Relief Threats\")...

.... slumped.

In case you've been living under a rock, here's why you should care about the SLR decision: First, for those whomissed our primer on the issue, some background from JPM (ironically the one bank that has the most to lose from the Fed's decision) the bottom line is that without SLR relief, banks may have to delever, raise new capital, halt buybacks, sell preferred stock, turn down deposits and generally push back on reserves (not necessarily all of these, and not in that order) just as the Fed is injecting hundreds of billions of reserves into the market as the Treasury depletes its TGA account.

The massive expansion of the Fed’s balance that has occurred implied an equally massive growth in bank reserves held at Federal Reserve banks. The expiration of the regulatory relief would add ~$2.1tn of leverage exposure across the 8 GSIBs. As well, TGA reduction and continued QE could add another ~$2.35tn of deposits to the system during 2021.

While the expiry of the carve-out on March 31 would not have an immediate impact on GSIBs, the continued increase in leverage assets throughout the course of the year would increase long-term debt (LTD) and preferred requirements. Here, JPM takes an optimistic view and writes that\"even the “worst” case issuance scenario as very manageable, with LTD needs of $35bn for TLAC requirements and preferred needs of $15-$20bn to maintain the industry-wide SLR at 5.6%.

The constraint is greater at the bank entity, where the capacity to grow leverage exposure to be ~$765bn at 6.2% SLR.\"Goldman's take was more troubling: the bank estimated that under the continued QE regime, there would be a shortfall of some $2 trillion in reserve capacity, mainly in the form of deposits which the banks would be unable to accept as part of ongoing QE (much more in Goldman'sfull take of the SLR quandary).

So what happens next?

Addressing this topic, yesterday Curvature's Scott Skyrm wrote that \"the largest banks are enjoying much larger balance sheets, but there are political factors in Washington that are against an extension of the exemption.... Here are a couple of scenarios and their implications on the Repo market:

The exemption is extended 3 months or 6 months - No impact on the Repo market. It's already fully priced-in.The exemption is continued for reserves, but ended for Treasurys. Since large banks are the largest cash providers in the Repo market, less cash is intermediated into the market and Repo rates rise. Volatility increases as Repo assets move from the largest banks to the other Repo market participants. The exemption is ended for both reserves and Treasurys. Same as above.

In other words, Skyrm has a relatively downbeat view, warning that \"since large banks are the largest cash providers in the Repo market, less cash is intermediated into the market and Repo rates rise.\" Additionally, volatility is likely to increase as repo assets move from the largest banks to the other Repo market participants...

Perhaps a bit too draconian? Well, last week, JPMorgan laid out 5 scenarios for SLR, of which two predicted the end of SLR relief on March 31, as follow:

3. Relief ends March 31, banks fully raise capital Impact on BanksRatesFront-End Rates 4. Relief ends March 31, banks raise capital & de-lever Impact on BanksRatesFront-End Rates

Going back to Zoltan, let's recallthat the repo gurualso cautioned that \"ending the exemption of reserves and Treasuries from the calculation of the SLR may mean that U.S. banks will turn away deposits and reserves on the margin (not Treasuries) to leave more room for market-making activities, and these flows will swell further money funds’ inflows coming from TGA drawdowns.\"

More importantly, Zoltan does not expect broad chaos in repo or broader markets, and instead provides a more benign view on the negligible impact the SLR has had (and will be if it is eliminated), as he explained in a note from Tuesday.

How to determine if Zoltan's benign view is correct? He concluded his note by writing that \"given that our call for a zero-to-negative FRA-OIS spread by the end of June was predicated on the end of SLR extension and an assumption that the Fed will try to fix a quantity problem with prices, not quantities, today’s adjustments mean that FRA-OIS won’t trade all the way down to zero or negative territory.\"

FRA-OIS from here will be a function of how tight FX swaps will trade relative to OIS, but Treasury bills trading at deeply sub-zero rates is no longer a risk...

While Bills have occasionally dipped into the negative territory on occasion, so far they have avoided a fullblown plunge into NIRP, which may be just the positive sign the market is waiting for to ease the nerves associated with the sudden and largely unexpected end of the SLR exemption.

* * *

Finally, for those curious what the immediate market impact will be, NatWest strategist Blake Gwinn writes that the Fed announcement that they’re letting regulatory exemptions for banks expire at the end of the month \"really threads the needle and \"assuages concerns about the potential long-term impact on the markets\" asthe SLR \"ends it but defuses a lot of the knee-jerk market reaction” by pledging to address the current design and calibration of the supplementary leverage ratio to prevent strains from developing.

“I was never worried about a day-one bank puke of Treasuries or drawdown in repo or anything like that on no renewal,” Gwinn said. “My concern was the longer run,” like as reserves continue to rise, would the SLR “become a nuisance and drag on Treasuries and spreads” Gwinn concludes that with the statement, the Fed is\"really speaking to those fears and basically saying, ‘don’t worry, we are on it’.”

Well, with yields spiking to HOD in early quad-witch trading, the market sure seems quite skeptical that the Fed is on anything.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Additionally, the Board will shortly seek comment on measures to adjust the SLR. The Fed's soothing wods notwithstanding, having been primed for a favorable outcome, the Fed's disappointing announcement was hardly the news traders were hoping for and stocks tumbled...Bond yields spiked...... while the stock of JPM, which is the most exposed bank to SLR relief (as noted yesterday in \"Facing Up To JP Morgan's Leverage Relief Threats\")....... As well, TGA reduction and continued QE could add another ~$2.35tn of deposits to the system during 2021.While the expiry of the carve-out on March 31 would not have an immediate impact on GSIBs, the continued increase in leverage assets throughout the course of the year would increase long-term debt (LTD) and preferred requirements. Here, JPM takes an optimistic view and writes that\"even the “worst” case issuance scenario as very manageable, with LTD needs of $35bn for TLAC requirements and preferred needs of $15-$20bn to maintain the industry-wide SLR at 5.6%.The constraint is greater at the bank entity, where the capacity to grow leverage exposure to be ~$765bn at 6.2% SLR.\"Goldman's take was more troubling: the bank estimated that under the continued QE regime, there would be a shortfall of some $2 trillion in reserve capacity, mainly in the form of deposits which the banks would be unable to accept as part of ongoing QE (much more in Goldman'sfull take of the SLR quandary). So what happens next?Addressing this topic, yesterday Curvature's Scott Skyrm wrote that \"the largest banks are enjoying much larger balance sheets, but there are political factors in Washington that are against an extension of the exemption.... Here are a couple of scenarios and their implications on the Repo market:The exemption is extended 3 months or 6 months - No impact on the Repo market. In other words, Skyrm has a relatively downbeat view, warning that \"since large banks are the largest cash providers in the Repo market, less cash is intermediated into the market and Repo rates rise.\" Additionally, volatility is likely to increase as repo assets move from the largest banks to the other Repo market participants...Perhaps a bit too draconian? Well, last week, JPMorgan laid out 5 scenarios for SLR, of which two predicted the end of SLR relief on March 31, as follow:3. Relief ends March 31, banks fully raise capital Impact on BanksRatesFront-End Rates 4. Relief ends March 31, banks raise capital & de-lever Impact on BanksRatesFront-End RatesGoing back to Zoltan, let's recallthat the repo gurualso cautioned that \"ending the exemption of reserves and Treasuries from the calculation of the SLR may mean that U.S. banks will turn away deposits and reserves on the margin (not Treasuries) to leave more room for market-making activities, and these flows will swell further money funds’ inflows coming from TGA drawdowns.\"More importantly, Zoltan does not expect broad chaos in repo or broader markets, and instead provides a more benign view on the negligible impact the SLR has had (and will be if it is eliminated), as he explained in a note from Tuesday. How to determine if Zoltan's benign view is correct? He concluded his note by writing that \"given that our call for a zero-to-negative FRA-OIS spread by the end of June was predicated on the end of SLR extension and an assumption that the Fed will try to fix a quantity problem with prices, not quantities, today’s adjustments mean that FRA-OIS won’t trade all the way down to zero or negative territory.\"FRA-OIS from here will be a function of how tight FX swaps will trade relative to OIS, but Treasury bills trading at deeply sub-zero rates is no longer a risk...While Bills have occasionally dipped into the negative territory on occasion, so far they have avoided a fullblown plunge into NIRP, which may be just the positive sign the market is waiting for to ease the nerves associated with the sudden and largely unexpected end of the SLR exemption.* * *Finally, for those curious what the immediate market impact will be, NatWest strategist Blake Gwinn writes that the Fed announcement that they’re letting regulatory exemptions for banks expire at the end of the month \"really threads the needle and \"assuages concerns about the potential long-term impact on the markets\" asthe SLR \"ends it but defuses a lot of the knee-jerk market reaction” by pledging to address the current design and calibration of the supplementary leverage ratio to prevent strains from developing.“I was never worried about a day-one bank puke of Treasuries or drawdown in repo or anything like that on no renewal,” Gwinn said. “My concern was the longer run,” like as reserves continue to rise, would the SLR “become a nuisance and drag on Treasuries and spreads” Gwinn concludes that with the statement, the Fed is\"really speaking to those fears and basically saying, ‘don’t worry, we are on it’.”Well, with yields spiking to HOD in early quad-witch trading, the market sure seems quite skeptical that the Fed is on anything.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":612,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":350815697,"gmtCreate":1616177134919,"gmtModify":1704791954303,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/350815697","repostId":"1126157111","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":614,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":129430004,"gmtCreate":1624380054208,"gmtModify":1703835126189,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/129430004","repostId":"2145052095","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2145052095","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1624375500,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2145052095?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-22 23:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Forget AMC: These 3 Meme Stocks Actually Have a Future","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2145052095","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Not all meme stocks are alike.","content":"
Having a long-term outlook has always been an investor's greatest hidden asset.

The following three stocks could all give you the excitement of the meme stock craze while offering long-term potential, as long as you don't get caught up in the excitement and overpay.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. Bed Bath & Beyond\nI had pretty much written off home furnishings retailer Bed Bath & Beyond (NASDAQ:BBBY) when it was still in the clutches of an entrenched management team with a sclerotic board of directors that failed to challenge leadership to make the changes necessary in an altered retail environment.\nYet showing that hedge funds can be a force for good, activist investors cleaned house at the retailer, clearing out the C-suite and the board, and embarked on dismantling the sprawling collection of businesses that Bed Bath & Beyond had amassed.\nThe pandemic struck at the worst possible time, just as the home goods store was going to focus on its narrowed core businesses. But now, as the economy is reopening, Bed Bath & Beyond has the chance to shine.\nOne of the unique aspects of the retailer's business was its ability to generate inordinate amounts of cash. But the pandemic did show people turning to GameStop's e-commerce platform in record numbers, which indicates its well-known brand could be a beacon for customers seeking gaming media, equipment, reviews, and more from the retailer.\nInstead of betting on AMC's declining business and industry, GameStop is a stock that could pay off handsomely if you wait for it to offer attractive valuations.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":391,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":191396007,"gmtCreate":1620842674609,"gmtModify":1704349242353,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Sad] [Sad] [Sad] [Sad] ","listText":"[Sad] [Sad] [Sad] [Sad] ","text":"[Sad] [Sad] [Sad] [Sad]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/191396007","repostId":"1186510575","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":484,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151148483,"gmtCreate":1625068974742,"gmtModify":1703735496001,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm ? Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) prices fell 41% over the same time span.\nThe young company's first earnings report wasn't a barnstormer, either. Sure, revenues surged from $191 million to $1.8 billion and the company posted positive earnings of $3.05 per share, but your average analyst had still expected something more on both counts. Coinbase shares fell 6% the next day.\nCoinbase represents a lower-risk way of investing in the cryptocurrency market than owning the digital coins directly. Any particular coin may fall out of favor over time -- including the Bitcoin graybeard -- but Coinbase will continue to offer crypto-trading services and other fintech products to consumers anyhow. The company has 56 million verified users, $223 billion of digital assets under management, and a $2 billion cash cushion. Coinbase is consistently profitable, even during lean times with low cryptocurrency prices and limited trading.\nThe corollary to Coinbase's lower risk is that the stock may offer more limited shareholder rewards over time. It's hard to argue against the explosive rewards cryptocurrency owners see in each bull market. That being said, Coinbase comes with a modest market cap of $43.5 billion while Bitcoin's market value is a massive $766 billion today. Coinbase shares have plenty of room for growth, especially if cryptocurrencies pull out of their recent funk and start rising again.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":300,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198965069,"gmtCreate":1620919339451,"gmtModify":1704350538142,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm] ","listText":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm] ","text":"Lol[Facepalm] [Facepalm] [Facepalm]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/198965069","repostId":"1186620588","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":478,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":105455186,"gmtCreate":1620321301145,"gmtModify":1704341982903,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmmm","listText":"Hmmm","text":"Hmmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/105455186","repostId":"1116905516","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116905516","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620314777,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1116905516?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-06 23:26","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Two stocks are waving a bearish red flag, but traders see opportunity to buy on weakness","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1116905516","media":"CNBC","summary":"A handful of stocks are waving a bearish technical red flag.\nTake-Two Interactive,BiogenandAmazonare","content":"
\n
A handful of stocks are waving a bearish technical red flag.\nTake-Two Interactive,BiogenandAmazonare among the names that have seen or could be approaching their 50-day moving average pulling below ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; But long term, it has Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out which is going to be probably the single biggest blockbuster hit in the history of gaming,\" Boris Schlossberg, managing director of FX strategy at BK Asset Management, told CNBC's \"Trading Nation\" on Wednesday.\nRockstar Games, owned by Take-Two, has not officially confirmed GTA 6. The last, GTA 5, was released in 2013. Its other profitable franchises include Red Dead Redemption.\n\"Any savvy investor is going to buy the dip at this point, because long term I think the prospects with Take-Two are very, very, very strong,\" said Schlossberg.\nTake-Two entered a death cross in late April when its 50-day moved below its 200-day. The shares are down nearly 20% this year.\nGina Sanchez, CEO of Chantico Global and chief market strategist at Lido Advisors, is banking on Amazon despite its recent weakness.\n\"It is a staple in our portfolio at Lido Advisors, partially because the trend toward e-commerce was already well established beforethe pandemic– the pandemic just brought in the late adopters and forced them to the party – but they also have their cloud play, which was up 32% this quarter, and that you cannot ignore,\" Sanchez said during the same interview.\nAmazon has not yet entered a death cross, though the two trend lines are closing in on one another. Its 50-day sits at less than $3,207 and its 200-day just above $3,201. The shares are less than 1% higher for the year.\n\"Even though we're seeing some pullbacks, which I think is natural, I think that this stock still has a lot of room to go,\" said Sanchez.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":409,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":105455467,"gmtCreate":1620321371359,"gmtModify":1704341983226,"author":{"id":"3570810115670005","authorId":"3570810115670005","name":"Whheee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ab10b9b20e7b3c499c8f863da9c36fb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3570810115670005","authorIdStr":"3570810115670005"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/105455467","repostId":"2133857587","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2133857587","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620312259,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2133857587?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-05-06 22:44","market":"us","language":"en","title":"LYFT: On Course to Reach EBITDA Profitability by Q3, Says Top Analyst","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2133857587","media":"TipRanks","summary":"After the coronavirus made sure the new decade kicked off on a downbeat note, hopes are high the eco","content":"
\n
After the coronavirus made sure the new decade kicked off on a downbeat note, hopes are high the economic recovery will lead to a replication of the previous century’s Roaring Twenties.\nLooking at ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; On the bottom-line, a Non-GAAP EPS of ($0.35) compared favorably to the consensus estimate of ($0.53), while also improving on Wedbush’s ($0.57) forecast.\nAlthough the pandemic’s impact was still felt as active riders dropped year-over-year by 36.4% to 13.5 million, the decline was still better than Wedbush’ and the Street’s respective 11.2 million and 12.8 million estimates.\nHowever, the star of the show, says Ives, was the EBITDA beat. Lyft delivered Adj. EBITDA of ($73) million beating Wall Street’s ($144) million forecast and well ahead of Ives’ ($149) million estimate.\nAccording to Lyft, Adj. EBITDA is set to further improve in Q2, expected to show a loss of between $45-35 million. Revenue should also increase to between the $680 million and $700 million range.\n“The tough but necessary cuts that Lyft has implemented into its business model are clear and present and remain a feather in the cap for the bulls as the company just delivered its best EBITDA performance in its history with revenue down 35% YoY, a great sign of leverage in the model,” the analyst summed up.\nIves keeps LYFT on Wedbush’s Best Ideas List and, unsurprisingly, reiterated an Outperform (i.e., Buy) rating on the shares whilst sticking to an $85 price target. Investors could be sitting on gains of 72%, should Ives’ forecast play out accordingly. (To watch Ives’ track record, click here)\nWall Street’s average price target is more modest, but at $72.04, is still anticipated to generate returns of 46% in the year ahead. Overall, the stock’s Moderate Buy consensus rating is based on 22 Buys and 10 Holds.
