The industry-first employee-driven payroll solution improves data accuracy, oversight, and user experience. It puts the payroll responsibility into the hands of employees, eliminating a multistep, imperfect, and time-consuming process for HR departments while giving employees more insight into their pay.</p><p>Richison stated on the call:</p><blockquote>For years, I have been predicting the end of the old model, whereby HR and payroll personnel&#39;s routine of inputting data for employees, is replaced by a self-service model that provides employees direct access to the database. The old model is dying and that is good for both the business and the employee. Paycom is leading this transformation.</blockquote><p>That&#39;s just the latest innovation from the company. The company&#39;s single-database HR platform works better than the cobbled-together systems that most companies use today. That has enabled Paycom to capitalize by offering companies an easy-to-use system that improves user experiences, allowing them to maximize the return on this investment in Paycom&#39;s software.</p><h2>An unstoppable growth driver</h2><p>This award-winning solution has been a smashing success. It helped drive record annual revenue retention of 94% in 2021, up from 93% in the prior year. It was also a key growth driver. The company ended the year with nearly 34,000 clients, up 9% compared to 2020. Meanwhile, revenue surged 29% year-over-year in the fourth quarter and 25.4% for the full year. Earnings grew even faster as its margin expanded despite aggressive spending to grow the business. The company delivered an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin of 39.7% of its revenue in 2021, up from 39.3% in 2020.</p><p>Paycom is only scratching the surface of its potential. Richison noted on the call that &#34;we still only have approximately 5% of the TAM (total available market) today, so there&#39;s plenty of runway ahead to expand and continue to capture market share.&#34; It&#39;s investing heavily to continue taking more market share. It opened five new outside sales offices over the last five months (<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MHC.AU\">Manhattan</a>, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, New England, and South Jersey) -- bringing the total to 54 -- to expand its geographic reach. In addition, it has expanded the upper end of its target client size from those with up to 5,000 employees to those with upwards of 10,000 employees.</p><p>These catalysts have Paycom positioned to continue growing fast in 2022 and beyond. The cloud-based software company sees its revenue rising to more than $1.3 billion this year, putting it up nearly 25% from last year&#39;s total. He noted that the company \"extended our platform to the employee even further through innovations like BETI, which enables employees to do their own payroll, and we are seeing very strong adoption and record employee usage.\"The company sees Beti, which stands for Better Employee Transaction Interface, as the new way of doing payroll. The industry-first employee-driven payroll solution improves data accuracy, oversight, and user experience. It puts the payroll responsibility into the hands of employees, eliminating a multistep, imperfect, and time-consuming process for HR departments while giving employees more insight into their pay.Richison stated on the call:For years, I have been predicting the end of the old model, whereby HR and payroll personnel's routine of inputting data for employees, is replaced by a self-service model that provides employees direct access to the database. The old model is dying and that is good for both the business and the employee. Paycom is leading this transformation.That's just the latest innovation from the company. The company's single-database HR platform works better than the cobbled-together systems that most companies use today. That has enabled Paycom to capitalize by offering companies an easy-to-use system that improves user experiences, allowing them to maximize the return on this investment in Paycom's software.An unstoppable growth driverThis award-winning solution has been a smashing success. It helped drive record annual revenue retention of 94% in 2021, up from 93% in the prior year. It was also a key growth driver. The company ended the year with nearly 34,000 clients, up 9% compared to 2020. Meanwhile, revenue surged 29% year-over-year in the fourth quarter and 25.4% for the full year. Earnings grew even faster as its margin expanded despite aggressive spending to grow the business. The company delivered an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin of 39.7% of its revenue in 2021, up from 39.3% in 2020.Paycom is only scratching the surface of its potential. Richison noted on the call that \"we still only have approximately 5% of the TAM (total available market) today, so there's plenty of runway ahead to expand and continue to capture market share.\" It's investing heavily to continue taking more market share. It opened five new outside sales offices over the last five months (Manhattan, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, New England, and South Jersey) -- bringing the total to 54 -- to expand its geographic reach. In addition, it has expanded the upper end of its target client size from those with up to 5,000 employees to those with upwards of 10,000 employees.These catalysts have Paycom positioned to continue growing fast in 2022 and beyond. HuffPost’s Michael Hobbessummed up&nbsp;millennials’ financial situation best in 2017: “My rent consumes nearly half my income, I haven’t had a steady job since Pluto was a planet and my savings are dwindling faster than the ice caps the baby boomers melted.”</p>\n<p>Perhaps because we’re the only American generation to live through two major recessions and two wars in our coming-up years, we’re the first generation to be financially worse off than our parents, despite being&nbsp;better educated&nbsp;on average. We paid for it, too. A year of college that cost $10,000 for boomers set millennials back more than $15,000 on average in inflation-adjusted dollars, according to&nbsp;Bloomberg. Millennials of color, particularly Black millennials, have it worse. They graduated with&nbsp;even more student debt&nbsp;than their white classmates, are&nbsp;far less likely&nbsp;to be hired in white-collar professions, and their households earn&nbsp;just 60%of what their white coworkers make.</p>\n<p>Millennials’ high-priced educations haven’t bought us much job security. A 2018 Gallup study&nbsp;called&nbsp;millennials the “job-hopping generation.” Maybe, but not by choice. A 2019University of Chicago study&nbsp;found millennials actually long for a stable career. It should come as little surprise, then, that a generation plagued with job insecurity and mounting debt is leading the“baby bust.”The birth rate is at its lowest in&nbsp;three decades. There may not be enough working-age Americans to care for the nation’s swelling senior population. Boomers effectively climbed the class ladder, then took a saw and cut off the rungs below them. (And they still ask us when we’ll give them grandchildren!)</p>\n<p>If all that doesn’t make meme stocks and cryptocurrency more appealing, at least it might help explain why some of us just don’t care any more about playing it safe. I’ll be the first to admit that investing in meme stocks isn’t a sustainable way to build wealth. A lot more of us will get hurt than get rich. But I’m not primarily investing to make money: I want the investors who crashed the economy and got bailed out in my senior year of college—thus&nbsp;torpedoing&nbsp;my career earning potential—to feel at least a little bit of the hardship they put my generation through. And given the&nbsp;predominantly millennial&nbsp;composition of /r/WallStreetBets, I know I’m not the only rage-driven investor.</p>\n<p>There’s plenty to be mad about. Like we saw with&nbsp;GameStop,workers organizing to make the stock market pay out in our favor results in strict blowback. After Redditors speculated GameStop shares through the roof in late January, mobile trading app Robinhood not only restricted trading, but even&nbsp;reportedly&nbsp;sold investors’ GameStop shares without their consent. (Robinhooddeniesforced-selling occurred.) When it came to light that Robinhood had a&nbsp;financial relationship&nbsp;with firms that help route its customers’ orders, it made a lot of newbie investors like me even more jaded about the markets.</p>\n<p>In March, when New York City opened movie theaters, I decided to buy AMC shares on a lark for $7 apiece. As of early June, my investment has appreciated in value by more than 550%. That could evaporate, but I’m taking a lesson from GameStop. Its stock is still trading at more than $250 per share despite starting the year under $20. I plan on continuing to hold my AMC shares in hopes the value will increase even more. When it’s finally time, I’ll sell half and re-invest my profits in cryptocurrency.</p>\n<p>When that happens, I’ll be far from the only millennial betting big on crypto. According to Business Insider, my generation is&nbsp;chiefly responsible&nbsp;for the sudden rise of cryptocurrency in 2021, in which both blue-chip digital currencies like Ethereum, as well as joke cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, are thriving. Ethereum’s price has gone from $730.97 per coin on Jan. 1 to a peak of over $4,000 in May. Dogecoin has&nbsp;appreciatedby more than 21,000% since its inception as a meme in 2013. (I’m still kicking myself for selling my Dogecoin when it was trading for less than 10 cents, even though I still made thousands in profit). Millennials’ commitment to crypto is now forcing the giants to play along: In March,Morgan Stanley&nbsp;became the&nbsp;first bank&nbsp;to offer Bitcoin funds to its wealthy clients. And as if on cue, now that the workers have made a little money in the rigged casino, U.S. regulators are reportedly preparing a “crackdown” on cryptocurrency.</p>\n<p>Millennials went through childhood being told we had to work hard to have financial security. Then we were told we had to shackle ourselves with debt to get a college degree that would get us a good job. Then we were told that only a lucky few actually build wealth from their jobs and that to have true financial success, we should invest. And then when we invested, we were told we were doing it wrong. I get the message. Millennials aren’t meant to win. Financial security isn’t for us. While some believe the company could nearly double in value from the $829 a share it closed at on Jan. 27, Gordon Johnson at GLJ Research foresees Tesla falling more than 90%, based on his price target of $67 for the company.</p><p>To be fair, Tesla has done a lot of things right. CEO Elon Musk built the company from the ground-up to mass production. Tesla is the first automaker in more than five decades to successfully enter the auto market and reach mass production.</p><p>Tesla has also had no issues with consumer demand, as evidenced by its production ramp and deliveries. When 2021 began, Tesla was expected to be in the neighborhood of 750,000 EV deliveries for the year. But when the curtain closed, the world&#39;s most valuable automaker had delivered more than 936,000 EVs.  With the gigafactory in Austin, Texas, set to open soon, Tesla will have plenty of opportunity to increase production to meet growing consumer EV demand.</p><p>But there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of Tesla and its $833 billion valuation. For example, even though Elon Musk&#39;s innovation has been a driving force behind his company&#39;s success, he&#39;s also been something of a liability. Musk&#39;s social media presence has previously got him in trouble with regulators, and his forecasted timeline for new product rollouts is almost always far too ambitious. Most new vehicles roll off the assembly line later than expected. Additionally, the company&#39;s full self-driving (FSD) software remains something of a work in progress, despite Musk touting FSD&#39;s potential for more than five years.</p><p>Another clear issue is Tesla&#39;s valuation. Auto stocks are traditionally valued at single-digit price-to-earnings (P/E) ratios to reflect their generally high debt levels and the cyclical nature of the auto industry. Tesla has consistently sported a forward-year P/E ratio in the triple digits.</p><p>With other major automakers spending tens of billions of dollars on EV and battery research, it&#39;s likely that Tesla&#39;s competitive edge will shrink over time, as well. According to analyst Mani Foroohar of SVB Leerink, Moderna is on track to hit $86 this year, which implies downside of 42% in the company&#39;s shares.</p><p>Most people are probably familiar with Moderna given the role it&#39;s played in combatting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The company&#39;s vaccine, mRNA-1273, produced a 94.1% vaccine efficacy (VE) in U.S. clinical trials, which were reported in November 2020. To date, it&#39;s one of only three vaccines to have generated a VE of 90% or higher. Although VE isn&#39;t the only measure of success for COVID-19 vaccines, it&#39;s the headline figure a lot of people are using when deciding which vaccines or booster shot to receive.</p><p>To add, the mutability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 is a potential positive for Moderna. While we&#39;d prefer to see COVID-19 go away completely or mutate into less-severe forms, new variants of the disease provide Moderna with recurring revenue opportunities, either with booster shots or variant-specific vaccines.</p><p>However, competition among COVID-19 treatments is only growing. Aside from COVID-19-specific vaccines still in development, competitors are working on influenza/COVID-19 combination vaccines that could prove more appealing. Also, oral treatments are in the works for a handful of companies. This all brings into question how long Moderna can hang onto its share of COVID-19 treatment revenue.</p><p>What&#39;s more, Moderna&#39;s only source of recurring revenue is mRNA-1273. Even with shares of the company retracing 70% from an all-time high, investors are still paying $60 billion for a company that has only one therapy generating sales. In my view, it makes Moderna a risky bet, even after its significant pullback.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b35f28e4268db10d254dbc217fa38cef\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2>Transocean: Implied decline of 69%</h2><p>A third popular stock with the potential to plunge in 2022 is offshore oil-drilling company <b>Transocean</b> (NYSE:RIG). Despite its shares falling 98% since peaking in 2007, one Wall Street investment bank foresees Transocean hitting $1 per share this year, implying further downside of 69% from where it closed on Jan. 27.</p><p>If there is good news for the company, it&#39;s that oil prices are soaring. West Texas Intermediate crude and Brent crude recently surpassed $87/barrel and $90/barrel, respectively. Although deepwater drilling, which is what Transocean specializes in, can be quite costly, the highest price for crude since 2014 offer more than enough incentive for exploration and production (E&amp;P) companies to contract with Transocean at these prices.</p><p>The company&#39;s backlog also appears to suggest that E&amp;P companies are comfortable with crude oil prices for the foreseeable future. Transocean ended 2021 with a $7.1 billion contract backlog, which equates to almost three years&#39; worth of revenue.</p><p>However, the big concern for Transocean is the company&#39;s balance sheet. At the end of September, it had $900 million in cash and cash equivalents and $7.3 billion in total debt. With the Federal Reserve set to begin raising lending rates, highly indebted companies like Transocean are getting put under the microscope by Wall Street.</p><p>Furthermore, Transocean&#39;s deepwater rig utilization rates aren&#39;t that impressive.
