is set to lift travel restrictions for U.S. residents as soon as this week, in the latest step toward a return to normal despite concerns over the spread of potentially dangerous coronavirus variants.
\n
Portugal, which holds the rotating presidency of the EU, proposed adding the U.S., Albania, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Macau, the Republic of NorthernMacedonia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, and Taiwan to a so-called “white list” of countries from which non-essential travel to the bloc is allowed, according to a diplomat familiar with the matter. Assuming no objections, EU government envoys in Brussels will approve the expanded white list on Wednesday, the diplomat said, asking not to be named, in line with policy.
\n
The move will provide a boost for major EU airlines such as Air France-KLM and Deutsche Lufthansa AG, which along with their American counterparts rely on the profitable trans-Atlantic corridors. Long-distance travel has been hit hard by restrictions brought on by the pandemic.
\n
While some EU member states already allow vaccinated Americans to visit, inclusion in the white list means that restrictions will be lifted across the bloc. It also means that member states are free to allow quarantine-free travel from the U.S independently of vaccination status.
\n
Despite the progress, trans-Atlantic travel won’t be fully open until the U.S. reciprocates and lifts a ban on most EU residents from entering the country.
\n
Free Movement
\n
The expansion of EU’s white listof external countries, which already includes Japan, comes as internal travel within the bloc is being restored for those who are vaccinated or can prove that they have recently recovered from the virus. As of July 1, holders of so-called digital Covid certificates will be able to move freely anywhere in the EU’s 27 member states 14 days after the last shot.
\n
The continued easing of pandemic-induced restrictions in the EU marks a stark contrast with Britain, where prime minister Boris Johnson decided to delay a full reopening for England due to a surge in infections with the delta variant of the coronavirus. The spike in infections, even as the U.K. has inoculated a larger share of its population than the EU, has alarmed some officials in Brussels.
\n
EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides will tell the bloc’s health ministers in a meeting on Tuesday that they need to fully inoculate as many people as possible as quickly as possible, in the face of mounting evidence that the protective shield of vaccines is weaker against the delta variant, especially for those who haven’t received both doses. Kyriakides will urge ministers to take the threat of more contagious variants seriously, according to an official familiar with the matter.
\n
Still, the number of infections and hospitalizations in the EU keeps falling over the past nine weeks, and with the vaccine rollout accelerating, the EU’s tourism-dependent economies are eager to restore travel and normalcy, ahead of this summer’s season.
\n
EU leaders will discuss the epidemiological situation when they meet in Brussels next week, pledging a “full return to free movement as soon as the public health situation allows,” according to a draft of their joint statement seen by Bloomberg.
","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; POINTS\n\nThe Federal Open Market Committee’s two-day monetary policy meeting kicks off on Tuesday.\nThe May Producer Price Index is expected to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.\n\nTreasury yields fell on Tuesday morning, despite anticipation over what the Federal Reserve will say in its two-day policy meeting, which kicks off later in the day.\nThe yield on the benchmark10-year Treasury notefell less than a basis point to 1.484% at 4 a.m. ET. The yield on the30-year Treasury bonddipped to 2.176%. Yields move inversely to prices.\nThe Federal Open Market Committee’s two-day policy meeting wraps up on Wednesday afternoon, followed by a press conference with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.\nThe Fed is not expected to take any action in its meeting, though investors will be listening to Powell’s comments closely for any signals of the central bank’s eventual asset purchase tapering plans.\nTiffany Wilding, U.S. economist at PIMCO, said on Monday that the investment management firm expected the Fed to upgrade its outlook for growth and “materially revise up the inflation forecast” in its meeting.\n“As a result of the better growth outlook, and despite the transitory nature of the inflation spike, we think the majority of Fed officials will also pull forward their projections for the first rate hike to 2023,” Wilding said, compared to a forecasted rate hike in March 2024.\nWilding added that PIMCO’s base case remained that the Fed would announce a tapering of bond purchases at its December meeting. However, she said that Powell could float the idea that the Fed might consider the possibility of tapering in September, if “inflation is more persistent than expected.”\nIn terms of data due out on Tuesday, May's Producer Price Index is expected to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. PPI is another inflation gauge, measuring the prices paid to producers rather than on a consumer level.\nThe overall index is expected to rise 0.5% in May, according to Dow Jones estimates. The core PPI — which excludes volatile items like foods, energy and trade services — is also estimated to increase 0.5%.\nRetail sales data for May is also due to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, along with the NY Empire State manufacturing index for June. Industrial production data for May is then expected to come out at 9:15 a.m. ET.\nThe National Association of Home Builders' housing market index for June is due out at 10 a.m. ET.\nAuctions are due to be held on Tuesday for $34 billion of 52-week bills, $40 billion of 42-week bills and $24 billion of 20-year bonds.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":325,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187144285,"gmtCreate":1623747900247,"gmtModify":1704210291115,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cool","listText":"Cool","text":"Cool","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187144285","repostId":"1119457448","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1119457448","pubTimestamp":1623746713,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1119457448?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 16:45","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"China's electric car leaders predict new energy vehicles will dominate the local market by 2030","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1119457448","media":"cnbc","summary":"New energy vehicles, which include electric cars, will account for 70% of China's new car sales by 2030, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu said at a conference over the weekend.Nio founder William Li predicted a higher penetration rate of 90%.The central government would like 20% of new cars sold to be new energy vehicles by 2025.BEIJING — New energy vehicles will dominate the world's largest auto market in about ten years, two executives from major Chinese electric car companies predicted over the weeke","content":"
\n
KEY POINTS\n\nNew energy vehicles, which include electric cars, will account for 70% of China's new car sales by 2030, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu said at a conference over the weekend.\nNio founder William...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The category accounted for more than 10% of new car sales in China in March, and grew to 11.4% in May, said Wang Chuanfu, founder ofBYD.\nHe forecast that the penetration rate would surge to more than 70% in 2030. That's according to a transcript the company provided of his remarks at the China Auto Chongqing Summit held June 12 and 13.\nWilliam Li, founder and CEO of electric car start-upNio, was more optimistic. He predicted thatso-called smart electric cars would account for 90% of new car sales in 2030, according to Chinese media reports.\nNio did not have anything to add when contacted by CNBC. The U.S.-listed automaker leads its start-up peers in terms of monthly deliveries.\nBut Nio’sdeliveries of 6,711 cars in May fell from 7,102 in April, remaining well below that of BYD.\nIn May, BYD said its new energy passenger car sales rose 23% from the prior month to 31,681 vehicles, of which just over half — or 18,711 — were powered only by batteries.\nThe company’s Han sedan ranks among the five best-selling new energy vehicles sold in China — just behind Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y for the first five months of the year, according to the China Passenger Car Association.\nIn first place is a budget electric car, theWuling Hongguang Mini, developed under aGeneral Motors’ joint venture in China.\nChinese brands to dominate\nMany foreign automakers such as Volkswagen have looked tolaunch electric cars in China first, where sales of battery-powered vehicles have gotten aboost from central government subsidies and other preferential policies.\nBeijing would like20% of new cars sold to be new energy vehiclesby 2025.\nAs the local new energy vehicle market grows, BYD’s Wang said he expects Chinese car brands will be able to account for 60% by 2030, thanks partly to their grasp of core technology.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":414,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187806427,"gmtCreate":1623748306269,"gmtModify":1704210313592,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187806427","repostId":"1114926830","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":251,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187170233,"gmtCreate":1623747942322,"gmtModify":1704210294195,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wonderful","listText":"Wonderful","text":"Wonderful","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187170233","repostId":"1163671123","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1163671123","pubTimestamp":1623746274,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1163671123?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 16:37","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Intel unveils Infrastructure Processing Units","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1163671123","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"During the Six Five Summit, Intel(NASDAQ:INTC)unveils the Infrastructure Processing Unit or IPU, whi","content":"
During the Six Five Summit, Intel(NASDAQ:INTC)unveils the Infrastructure Processing Unit or IPU, which the company says is an evolution of its SmartNIC line of smart network adapters.
\n
When combined with Xeon processors, Intel says the IPUs will offer highly intelligent infrastructure acceleration. We call this silicon solution a new unit of computing: the infrastructure processing unit,\" says Navin Shenoy, Intel EVP, Data Platforms Group, during his presentation.\n\nImage source: Intel presentation.\nIntel says it has evolved its products in partnership with leading partners, including Microsoft, Baidu, JD.com, and VMware. The company says it's collaboration with the majority of hyperscalers, Intel is already the IPU market leader with its Xeon-D, FPGA, and Ethernet components.\nThe first FPGA-based Intel IPU platforms are already deployed at multiple cloud service providers. The first ASIC IPU is currently under test.\nShares of Intel rose slightly in premarket trading.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":286,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187176946,"gmtCreate":1623748043585,"gmtModify":1704210299430,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Very cool stuff ","listText":"Very cool stuff ","text":"Very cool stuff","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187176946","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":187,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187170706,"gmtCreate":1623747953705,"gmtModify":1704210294681,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Love it ","listText":"Love it ","text":"Love it","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187170706","repostId":"1124987614","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":293,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187146722,"gmtCreate":1623747841266,"gmtModify":1704210287058,"author":{"id":"3571481503757009","authorId":"3571481503757009","authorIdStr":"3571481503757009","name":"Coolguy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7e2b20500af5db565a1c4e4ea7f347ce","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571481503757009"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Very cool stuff ","listText":"Very cool stuff ","text":"Very cool stuff","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187146722","repostId":"1114926830","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":151,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
