(NYSE: LEVI)stock decline may be coming to an end after stabilizing around the $17.50 range after its latest earnings. The popular and sticky denim brand struggled against a multitude of headwinds, but the reopening recovery continues despite Omicron and inflationary pressures. Supply chain constraints had materially impacted net revenues by nearly $60 million. The Company continued to grow its direct-to-consumer sales by 35% in its company-owned physical stores ande-commerce. Direct to consumer sales grew to 39% of total Q1 2022 sales. The pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of the Company as it makes data-driven decisions utilizing proprietary data analytics utilizing artificial intelligence(AI) and methodical analysis of price elasticity. This has also enabled the Company to bolster global brick-and-mortar business by 50% from a year ago. The Levi app has doubled its monthly active users in the quarter in the U.S. and Europe with plans to rollout out in India in Q2 2022.

Q1 Fiscal 2022 Earnings Results

On April 6, 2022, Levi Strauss reported their fiscal Q1 2022 earnings results for the quarter ending February 2022. Levi Strauss CEO Chip Bergh commented, "We started the year with strong consumer demand and solid momentum across geographies, channels and categories. Our teams’ disciplined execution of our strategic priorities enabled us to deliver strong top and bottom-line growth as we capitalize on structural tailwinds and successfully manage a dynamic operating environment. The strength of our brands and strategy position us to deliver sustainable growth well into the future."

Reaffirmed Guidance

The Company reaffirmed fiscal full-year 2022 EPS of $150 to $.56 versus $1.53 consensus analyst estimates on revenues of $6.4 to $6.5 billion versus $6.44 billion estimates. Levi Strauss CFO Harmit Singh commented, "We achieved excellent financial results in the first quarter, driving strong double-digit revenue growth and record gross margin enabling us to deliver adjusted EBIT margin of 14.9 percent. The ongoing consumer demand across our portfolio of brands and our proven ability to deliver profitable growth give us the confidence to reaffirm our full-year outlook despite the incremental headwinds from ongoing macro challenges."

Conference Call Takeaways

CEO Bergh started off by reflecting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its efforts in helping the humanitarian cause by donating thousands of piece of clothing to refugee families. He noted the broad strength across all markets, categories, gender, and channels driving consumer demand. The Company hit a high watermark of 14.9% EBIT, which grew faster than revenue. U.S. denim sales have grown by 11% since pre-pandemic levels two years ago. The Company launched premium-price circular 501 jeans which are made with organic cotton and recyclable. provided an update on its longer-term prospects.
\n
Analysts honed in on the more conservative outlook provided by Coupa's management team as the likely reason behind Thursday's selloff, though were generally sanguine about the company's longer-term prospects, with Piper Sandler one of the the few Wall Street investment firms to lower its one-year price target.
\n
Piper Sandler analysts also focused on lack of progress with Coupa Pay, noting that “… considering the necessary conservatism that is needed to continue the well-known beat and raise cadence, the set-up was always less than ideal.” They held their overweight rating on the stock though lowered their price target to $295 from $300.
\n
Truist Securities was slightly more upbeat, though admitted investors “could have But the bottom line is that attacks targeting operational technology -- the industrial control systems on the production line or plant floor -- are becoming more frequent,\" Algirde Pipikaite, cyber strategy lead at the World Economic Forum's Centre for Cybersecurity, told AFP on Saturday.\"Unless cybersecurity measures are embedded in a technology's development phase, we are likely to see more frequent attacks on industrial systems like oil and gas pipelines or water treatment plants.\"Gas prices jumped in the United States on Sunday following the ransomware attack. Analysts warn that prices could climb even higher if the pipeline is not reopened soon. Oil prices rose more than one percent Monday. The United States was rocked in recent months by news of two major cybersecurity breaches -- the SolarWinds hack that compromised thousands of US government and private sector computer networks and was officially blamed on Russia; and a potentially devastating penetration of Microsoft email servers.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":344,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":830634763,"gmtCreate":1629069851752,"gmtModify":1676529918329,"author":{"id":"3571496827776013","authorId":"3571496827776013","name":"DerrickC","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e597f441411c3dba94a89dc37058d7f4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571496827776013","authorIdStr":"3571496827776013"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$hodl","listText":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$hodl","text":"$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$hodl","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d5fa5fffbc1758a67b941611d9b0f2db","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/830634763","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":47,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":184663796,"gmtCreate":1623713191915,"gmtModify":1704209129948,"author":{"id":"3571496827776013","authorId":"3571496827776013","name":"DerrickC","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e597f441411c3dba94a89dc37058d7f4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571496827776013","authorIdStr":"3571496827776013"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Let go s&p 500","listText":"Let go s&p 500","text":"Let go s&p 500","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/184663796","repostId":"1126626020","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1126626020","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623710198,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1126626020?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 06:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nasdaq rises to an all-time closing high, S&P 500 ekes out another record","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1126626020","media":"CNBC","summary":"The Nasdaq Composite jumped to a record high on Monday as investors rotated back into growth-oriented stocks ahead of a key Federal Reserve meeting. The tech-heavy benchmark rose 0.7% to an all-time closing high of 14,174.14, overtaking the previous record on April 26. The S&P 500 gained about 0.2% to another record close 4,255.15, boosted by the technology sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 85.85 points, or nearly 0.3%, to 34,393,75.\nInvestors are giving growth and tech stocks another chance as bond yields come down. The 10-year Treasury fell below 1.43% on Friday, a three-month low. Cathie Wood’s Ark Innovation, an ETF that focuses on disruptive technology, returned about 6% last week. The fund rose 1.9% Monday even as the benchmark Treasury yield rose briefly back to 1.5%. Apple and Netflix both jumped more than 2%, while Amazon, Microsoft and Facebook also registered gains.\nBoosting cryptocurrency sentiment, Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday said the company will resume bitcoin transactions once it confirms there is reasonable clean energy usage by miners. Bitcoin recovered back above $40,000 Monday. Tesla, a big holder of bitcoin, climbed nearly 1.3%.\n“The broad market’s modest performance is pretty much in line with historical patterns— specifically, June’s tendency for generally quiet trading,” said Chris Larkin, managing director of trading at E-Trade Financial. “As the market continues to sort through potential moves made by the Fed and looming inflation, we could continue to see this narrative play out in the short-term.”\nThe Fed’s two-day policy meeting will likely dominate investor behavior this week. Although the central bank is not expected to take any action, its forecasts for interest rates, inflation and the economy could move the markets. The Fed could possibly move up its forecast for a rate hike after saying in its last quarterly update that it would keep its benchmark rate near zero through 2023,the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.\nFed Chairman Jerome Powell will speak to the press after the central bank issues its statement Wednesday. Traders will be parsing his comments for any clues as to when the Fed could start to end its aggressive monthly asset purchases, especially given recent hotter-than-expected inflation readings.\nBillionaire hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones said this week’s Fed meeting could be the most important in Powell’s career, and he warned that the chairman could spark a big sell-off in risk assets if he doesn’t do a good job of signaling a taper.\n“If they course correct, if they say, ‘We’ve got incoming data, we’ve accomplished our mission or we’re on the way very rapidly to accomplishing our mission on employment,’ then you’re going to get a taper tantrum,” Tudor Jones said. “You’re going to get a sell-off in fixed income. You’re going to get a correction in stocks.”\nU.S. stocks ended last week with a record closing high for the S&P 500 and the beginning of a rotation back into growth names.\nLast week, the 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8%, but the S&P 500 rose 0.4%, for its third straight positive week. The Nasdaq Composite was the outperformer with a gain of nearly 1.9%, posting its fourth winning week in a row as the tech trade came back into favor.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":127,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"content":"like back and comment","text":"like back and comment","html":"like back and comment"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":132045163,"gmtCreate":1622049177252,"gmtModify":1704178554241,"author":{"id":"3571496827776013","authorId":"3571496827776013","name":"DerrickC","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e597f441411c3dba94a89dc37058d7f4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571496827776013","authorIdStr":"3571496827776013"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Not is the next big thing ?? Takung is not currently in the NFT space yet, but many believe the company could be a prime suspect to get in because it runs an online platform that allows artists, art dealers, and investors to exchange and invest in artwork. This would seem like an ideal platform to begin offering digital art, a large NFT category.

NFTs are digital files such as art, videos, and audio stored on blockchain, which is the digital ledger technology that powers cryptocurrencies. Some NFTs have already sold for millions of dollars, pushing some companies to begin offering NFTs, and many to believe the asset class has huge potential, not unlike the earlier days of cryptocurrencies.

Now what

Although it is just speculation, it is possible that Takung eventually jumps into the NFT space, given the demand from investors. Takung is not currently in the NFT space yet, but many believe the company could be a prime suspect to get in because it runs an online platform that allows artists, art dealers, and investors to exchange and invest in artwork. This would seem like an ideal platform to begin offering digital art, a large NFT category.NFTs are digital files such as art, videos, and audio stored on blockchain, which is the digital ledger technology that powers cryptocurrencies. Some NFTs have already sold for millions of dollars, pushing some companies to begin offering NFTs, and many to believe the asset class has huge potential, not unlike the earlier days of cryptocurrencies. Now whatAlthough it is just speculation, it is possible that Takung eventually jumps into the NFT space, given the demand from investors. Another stock long rumored to be an NFT candidate, Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment, eventually did make the move, which led to shares skyrocketing.Regardless, I still would not invest in Takung based on NFT speculation alone. But that doesn't mean the index itself or the tech sector stocks that populate it are out of the woods. To the contrary, one trader is seeing short opportunities in not only the Nasdaq, but it's biggest component, Apple (AAPL).

Tech stocks have been lagging the Dow and S&P 500 this year, but JC Parets, founder of allstarcharts.com, explains to Yahoo Finance Live that this phenomenon stretches back to the end of the second quarter of 2020.

\"The underperformance started [on] Labor Day last year at the end of the summer, and that's when they all peaked ... Amazon has done nothing since then. It's not just tech [stocks], it's really big growth [stocks] and even small cap growth [stocks]. Growth in general peaked at the end of last summer — Apple, Amazon (AMZN), all of them on a relative basis.\"

The two biggest outperforming S&P 500 sectors this year are energy and financials. The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) is up 38% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) is up 26% year-to-date. Parets says, \"[T]he big winners have been coming out of value [stocks] ... Financials, Berkshire [Hathaway], energy ... Those have been the winners. The losers have been the growth stocks.\"

2021 is not 2020

Parets also notes the different market environment this year compared to last year — a phenomenon many investors may not be noticing. \"There's so much more evidence that 2021 is just not what 2020 was, right? It is a completely different type of market, and some investors are able to adjust and see the information coming in and act accordingly. And some investors just like to sit on their hands and hope that last year's market was going to continue to be this year's market. I see it every day, and they're paying a price for it,\" he says.

Parets outlines his trading style using the recent highs of certain trading instruments as a line in the sand. If the price is below the level, he's thinking bearishly. \"[If the index level is] below the February highs in small caps or the Nasdaq, under no circumstances can we be long ... Bottom line is there's no reason to be long if the Nasdaq or small caps are below those February highs.\"

Apple stock, like many of its peers, has gone largely sideways since September despite making a nominal record high in January. Parets likes a short in Apple based on its relative underperformance, and issues a warning to fund managers who may be loading up on growth stocks at the expense of risk management.

JC Parets breaks down an Apple short

\"I'm hearing that [Ark Investment Management CEO] Cathie Wood considers Apple her cash equivalent. That's pretty scary if you ask me. So, I really like the short a lot. Notice those September highs — where we got to in September was 138. We tried to get back there in January and failed. Most recently, we tried to get back there last month and failed, again. That's the level, 138. If you're below 138, under no circumstances can you own Apple ... I prefer to be short. And how low could it go? ... I could go real low. Why can't it get back toward 100?\" says Parets.

Gold making a comeback

Parets also highlights how defensive sectors and instruments have been perking up since the March lows. He uses a generalized trading maxim to illustrate how the trends in defensive stocks morphed from bearish to bullish.

\"First thing assets need to do before they [start going up] is to stop going down. And over the last year, what were the worst assets? Bonds, yen, gold, staples on a relative bases. All the defensive areas were the worst place to be. And that changed in the first quarter of this year. They stopped going down, and over the last couple months, they've actually been going up,\" says Parets.

When it comes to things that have started to go up, Parets is looking at playing gold. \"We've been bullish gold. That trade's been working — not just the metal, also the [gold] miners as well. Yen stopped going down, bonds stopped going down. They're not really going up, but they're not going down either. And [with consumer] staples, utilities, [and] REITs outperforming, does that remind you of an environment where stocks are doing well? But that doesn't mean the index itself or the tech sector stocks that populate it are out of the woods. To the contrary, one trader is seeing short opportunities in not only the Nasdaq, but it's biggest component, Apple (AAPL).Tech stocks have been lagging the Dow and S&P 500 this year, but JC Parets, founder of allstarcharts.com, explains to Yahoo Finance Live that this phenomenon stretches back to the end of the second quarter of 2020.\"The underperformance started [on] Labor Day last year at the end of the summer, and that's when they all peaked ... Amazon has done nothing since then. It's not just tech [stocks], it's really big growth [stocks] and even small cap growth [stocks]. Growth in general peaked at the end of last summer — Apple, Amazon (AMZN), all of them on a relative basis.\"The two biggest outperforming S&P 500 sectors this year are energy and financials. The losers have been the growth stocks.\"2021 is not 2020Parets also notes the different market environment this year compared to last year — a phenomenon many investors may not be noticing. \"There's so much more evidence that 2021 is just not what 2020 was, right? It is a completely different type of market, and some investors are able to adjust and see the information coming in and act accordingly. And some investors just like to sit on their hands and hope that last year's market was going to continue to be this year's market. I see it every day, and they're paying a price for it,\" he says.Parets outlines his trading style using the recent highs of certain trading instruments as a line in the sand. If the price is below the level, he's thinking bearishly. \"[If the index level is] below the February highs in small caps or the Nasdaq, under no circumstances can we be long ... Bottom line is there's no reason to be long if the Nasdaq or small caps are below those February highs.\"Apple stock, like many of its peers, has gone largely sideways since September despite making a nominal record high in January. Parets likes a short in Apple based on its relative underperformance, and issues a warning to fund managers who may be loading up on growth stocks at the expense of risk management.JC Parets breaks down an Apple short\"I'm hearing that [Ark Investment Management CEO] Cathie Wood considers Apple her cash equivalent. Why can't it get back toward 100?\" says Parets.Gold making a comebackParets also highlights how defensive sectors and instruments have been perking up since the March lows. He uses a generalized trading maxim to illustrate how the trends in defensive stocks morphed from bearish to bullish.\"First thing assets need to do before they [start going up] is to stop going down. Or should they be doing poorly?\" he asks.Separately, Lee Munson, president and CIO at Portfolio Wealth Advisors, is also telling Yahoo Finance Live he likes gold as an investment because the environment for the precious metal has fundamentally changed. \"What moved gold in the past is not what is moving it right now. We have had a regime change. Generally, I see gold as something that tends to go up when the Fed's balance sheet expands. Some people think the balance sheet can't expand anymore.
