So, what doesit mean? Is this just a bear market rally, or a signal of the major bottom. Let's first evaluate the top 20 list of the daily rates of return for the S&P500:

As you can see from the list above,

12 out 20 top daily returns were the bear market rallies, and 8 out of these 12 were during the 1929-1932 bear market and the Great Depression.

8 out of 20 were the near-bottoms, bottoms, or after-bottoms, and 6 of these 8 were during the bottom associated with the 1932 Great Depression bottom.

2 out of 8 bottoms were associated with the bottoms of the sharp corrections, the 1987 and the 2020 bottom. The 1987 correction was not associated with a recession, and it is generally considered as a technical in nature. The 2020 bottom was associated with the extraordinary events related to covid19 and the monetary and fiscal covid stimuli.

Based on the historical evidence, the 5.6% daily spike in S&P500 (SPX) is either a signal of a major bottom or just another bear market rally.

The major bottom thesis

The major bottom thesis requires an actual bear market capitulation, such as the 1932 bottom, the 2003 bottom or 2009 bottom. In each of these cases, there was a clear policy response to stimulate the economy, both monetary and fiscal.

The 11/10/22 daily spike was in response to the positive surprise in the CPI inflation, which raised the hope of the Fed pivot - or a less aggressive monetary policy tightening.

As I previously explained, the full bear market has3 stages:1) the liquidity selloff in response to the Fed's monetary policy tightening, 2) the recessionary selloff caused by the Fed's tightening, and 3) the credit crunch (or a financial crisis) triggered by the deep recession.

The bullish case assumes that the current bear market ended with the Phase 1 - or with the peak Fed hawkishness. It's true, we are likely past the peak inflation, and thus the peak hawkishness.

However, the question is whether there is a Phase 2 coming - or a recessionary selloff, and whether "something will break" during the process and cause the Phase 3 and the credit crunch.

The recessionary selloff

The S&P500 PE ratio after the 11/10 spike is 20.58. The market is still overvalued and not priced for a recession.

Is the recession coming? The spread between the 10Y Treasury Bond yield and the 3-Month Treasury Bill yield is the most reliable and the Fed-favored recession indicator, and once it inverts, the recession becomes almost a certainty.

Currently, the 10y-3mo spread is deeply inverted at -0.46%. Here is the chart:

FRED

Based on yield curve spread indicator, the recession is coming, and the market is not priced for it - based on the PE ratio of over 20. Thus, the current bear market has not bottomed yet, and the next Phase of the bear market is coming.

Why is the 10Y-3mo curve inverted? Why is this signaling a recession?

The 10Y-3mo spread is inverted because the Fed is hiking the short-term interest rates above the long-term interest rates. Why? To cause a recession to bring the inflation down.

The market hopes that the Fed will slow down with the interest rates hikes, because the inflation has peaked. Too late. The damage has been done. The Fed could even stop after the December 50bpt hike, the 10y-3mo spread has already inverted.

But don't count on the Fed to pause yet. If the core CPI printed today 4.3% (instead of actual 6.3%), and that was expected to persist, the Fed would still have to further hike. The target is 2% inflation.

But don't expect inflation to sharply fall either - without a deep recession. The economic war with China is still active, and it's more likely to escalate. This is inflationary. The war in Ukraine is still active and it's more likely to escalate. This is also inflationary. The unemployment rate in the US is still near record lows, and this is inflationary. The only thing the Fed can influence is the US unemployment rate - by inducing a recession.

It's a bear market rally

We are not at a major bottom; we are possibly in-between the Phase 1 selloff and a Phase 2 recessionary selloff. There are already signs of "things breaking" like the cryptocurrencies, which could lead to the Phase 3 selloff.

Bear market rallies happen during the "in-between periods", so this bear market rally could continue. The bottom will be in-place when the Fed wants to the bottom to be in place - this will be the pivot the bulls are waiting: the Fed slashing interest rates and resuming QE. I don't think anybody expects this over the near term. Don't fight the Fed. The bear market rally is the opportunity to sell or re-short.

SPY sector analysis

AllSPYsectors were up significantly on 11/10/2022, led by the beaten down technology sector (XLK), the interest rate sensitive real estate sector (XLRE) and the cyclical discretionary sector (XLY). These sectors should not lead pre-recession, while the Fed is trying to cool off economy.

SelectSectorSPDR

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
SPY: Bear Market Rally Or A Major Bottom?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nSPY: Bear Market Rally Or A Major Bottom?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-11-13 09:18 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryLarge 1-day rallies are usually associated with the bear market rallies.Major bottoms require a policy change. The Fed is still in inflation-fighting mode.gonin/iStock via Getty ImagesThe top 20...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".SPX":"S&P 500 Index","SPY":"标普500ETF"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4556371-spy-bear-market-rally-or-a-major-bottom","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1190456060","content_text":"SummaryLarge 1-day rallies are usually associated with the bear market rallies.Major bottoms require a policy change. The Fed is still in inflation-fighting mode.gonin/iStock via Getty ImagesThe top 20: daily returns for S&P500The SPDR S&P 500 Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:SPY) that tracks the S&P500 soared by 5.5% Thursday (11/10/2022) - and almost broke into the top 20 daily S&P500 returns in history - since the 1920s. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.
\n
Despite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.
\n
1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle
\n
The traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.
\n
Opendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.
\n
After seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including Zillow Group and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.
\n
According to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.
\n
2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule
\n
When companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.
\n
Fast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"
\n
In other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.
\n
3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?
\n
Investors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.
\n
Investors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.
\n
But if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. In a race to disrupt residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the world, Opendoor's long-term potential could bring big returns for patient investors.\nDespite the upside, the market hasn't yet appreciated Opendoor's accomplishments; the stock is down more than 50% from its highs. There are three important clues that Opendoor could be a compelling investment idea for bold investors.\n1. Opendoor is winning the iBuying battle\nThe traditional home-buying process in the United States is slow and handled by multiple parties, including agents, lawyers, inspectors, and bankers. This creates a lot of back and forth paperwork and drags the process out to more than 30 days, on average.\nOpendoor pioneered the concept of \"iBuying,\" where the buying and selling of a house are digitized, and a company like Opendoor works directly with sellers to provide them with a cash offer and a digital closing process. The company then resells the house on the market. The iBuying process cuts out agents and some of the fees associated with traditional closings, such as agent commissions. Opendoor then resells the house on the market and charges a service fee of up to 5% on the transaction.\nAfter seeing Opendoor steadily grow with its iBuying concept, competitors have also begun to offer iBuying services, including Zillow Group and Offerpad. Because of how capital intensive the business is (a lot of money is needed to buy and sell thousands of houses) and how price competitive the housing market is, these companies are racing to get as big as possible. As the companies buy and sell more homes, they have the ability to become more profitable by leveraging outsourced contractors to save money, and its pricing algorithm improves as it sees more transactions.\nAccording to iBuyerStats, a website dedicated to tracking the competitors found in iBuying, Opendoor has consistently had the most housing inventory available for sale. It currently has roughly 3,300 houses for sale, 53% more than Zillow and more than four times as many as Offerpad.\n2. Revenue growth is ahead of schedule\nWhen companies go public viaSPACmerger, they lay out a public presentation of their business, often including long-term growth projections. Opendoor laid out its pre-merger investor presentation about a year ago, in September 2020.\nFast forward to the company's recent 2021 Q2 earnings call. CEO and founder Eric Wu said on the earnings call, \"... based on our current progress, our second half revenue run rate is on track to exceed our 2023 target, a full two years ahead of plan.\"\nIn other words, if Opendoor were to operate for 12 months at the level the business currently is, it would surpass the $9.8 billion in revenue it projected for 2023. This is an underlooked point because if Opendoor is already two years ahead of its original growth curve, where will it be by 2023? Sure, a dip in the housing market or other events could disrupt the company's speed of growth, but Opendoor is showing the world that the business is operating at a high level.\n3. SPACs are out of favor with the market... opportunity?\nInvestors have overlooked this strong performance, focusing instead on the fact that Opendoor joined the public market via SPAC merger. It has hardly mattered what operating results or earnings have looked like for former SPACs; the stock market has been selling off virtually all SPAC-based stocks for several months now.\nInvestors have been spooked by a handful of \"bad apple\" companies turning up fraudulent, and other companies have wildly missed on the projections they made before going public. These instances have burned those involved, and investors have taken a much more cautious attitude toward SPACs as a whole.\nBut if companies like Opendoor keep blowing away estimates, the market is likely to come around eventually. When it does, the stock price could move aggressively. If we take Eric Wu's comments about revenue and assume that Opendoor does sales of $10 billion in 2022 (in other words, Opendoor stops growing and maintains its current pace over the following year), the stock currently trades at aprice-to-sales(P/S) ratio of just 1.0. That's a bargain-bin valuation.\nCompetitor Zillow Group trades at a P/S ratio of more than 3, reflecting Opendoor's discount as a former SPAC.\nHere's the bottom line\nReal estate is a huge market, and it's a complicated industry because of the clash between traditional agents and the \"new kids\" on the block trying to bring technology into homebuying. It's too early to say that Opendoor will become the \"Amazon\" of home buying, but what seems certain is that the company is poised to be a big player in real estate's future if it keeps performing like this.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":126,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3571697757751706","authorId":"3571697757751706","name":"JamesPang","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/936d6e2f7f57e8860a9bdfab91b7f40e","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3571697757751706","authorIdStr":"3571697757751706"},"content":"buy and keep","text":"buy and keep","html":"buy and keep"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158423311,"gmtCreate":1625177273933,"gmtModify":1703737591736,"author":{"id":"3571697757751706","authorId":"3571697757751706","name":"JamesPang","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/936d6e2f7f57e8860a9bdfab91b7f40e","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571697757751706","authorIdStr":"3571697757751706"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like and comment","listText":"Please like and comment","text":"Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":8,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/158423311","repostId":"2148840288","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2148840288","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1625139913,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2148840288?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-01 19:45","market":"us","language":"en","title":"The Top 50 Robinhood Stocks in July","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2148840288","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Retail investors can't stop buying into these companies.","content":"
Though volatility has tapered off in recent weeks, investors have received something of a crash course in being patient over the past 17 months. Despite the broad-based S&P 500 shedding 34% of its value in about a month during the first quarter of 2020, we've watched the benchmark index catapult more than 90% off of its lows.
\n
For some investors, volatility is something they fear. But for predominantly young and novice retail investors, volatility is the impetus that's driven them to put their money to work in the stock market.
\n
\n
As volatility has whipsawed the market, these younger retail investors have found their home with online investing app Robinhood. We know this because Robinhood added approximately 3 million new users in 2020.
\n
There are a number of lures for retail investors with Robinhood. For example, Robinhood doesn't charge a commission when stocks that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq exchange are bought or sold. Robinhood is also one of many brokerages that allows for fractional share investing. And, who can forget that Robinhood also gifts free shares of stock to new users.
\n
In one respect, it's a fantastic thing to see young people putting their money to work. Time is the biggest ally investors have. The earlier they start putting their money to work, the better chance they have of compounding their nest egg.
\n
On the other hand, Robinhood's retail investors have been buying some really awful stocks. Instead of thinking for the long-term, their buying activity demonstrates a willingness to chase momentum plays, penny stocks, and money-losing businesses.
\n
If you don't believe me, here's a closer look at the 50 most-held Robinhood stocks as we enter July.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Company
\n
Company
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
1. Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA)
\n
26. Snap
\n
\n
\n
2. Apple
\n
27. Alibaba
\n
\n
\n
3. AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC)
\n
28. Bank of America
\n
\n
\n
4. Sundial Growers (NASDAQ:SNDL)
\n
29. OrganiGram Holdings
\n
\n
\n
5. Ford Motor
\n
30. Coinbase Global
\n
\n
\n
6. General Electric
\n
31. Tilray
\n
\n
\n
7. NIO
\n
32. Facebook
\n
\n
\n
8. Walt Disney
\n
33. Canopy Growth
\n
\n
\n
9. Microsoft
\n
34. Advanced Micro Devices
\n
\n
\n
10. Amazon
\n
35. Starbucks
\n
\n
\n
11. American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL)
\n
36. Twitter
\n
\n
\n
12. Plug Power
\n
37. AT&T
\n
\n
\n
13. Nokia
\n
38. Moderna
\n
\n
\n
14. Carnival
\n
39. NVIDIA
\n
\n
\n
15. Aurora Cannabis (NASDAQ:ACB)
\n
40. FuelCell Energy
\n
\n
\n
16. Pfizer
\n
41. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF
\n
\n
\n
17. Zomedica
\n
42. Coca-Cola
\n
\n
\n
18. GoPro
\n
43. Norwegian Cruise Line (NYSE:NCLH)
\n
\n
\n
19. Naked Brand Group
\n
44. Ideanomics
\n
\n
\n
20. Palantir Technologies
\n
45. Workhorse Group
\n
\n
\n
21. GameStop (NYSE:GME)
\n
46. SPDR S&P 500 ETF
\n
\n
\n
22. Delta Air Lines
\n
47. Virgin Galactic
\n
\n
\n
23. BlackBerry
\n
48. General Motors
\n
\n
\n
24. Churchill Capital
\n
49. Zynga
\n
\n
\n
25. Netflix
\n
50. United Airlines
\n
\n
\n
\n
Data source: Robinhood, as of June 26, 2021. Table by author.
\n
Continuing to chase meme stocks
\n
Like bees to honey, retail investors have been inseparable from meme stocks for almost six months. A meme stock is a company valued more for its social media favorability/hype than its operating performance.
\n
Since mid-January, retail investors have been banding together to buy shares and out-of-the-money call options on stocks with high levels of short interest. In many instances, companies with high levels of short interest have poor-performing businesses. This is how we've witnessed GameStop and AMC Entertainment become extremely popular on Robinhood.
\n
The good news for GameStop is that it's been able to use its monumental run to sell shares of common stock and raise capital. It's completely erased its debt and given itself more than enough cash to oversee its ongoing transformation into a digital gaming company. To be clear, this doesn't negate the fact that GameStop's previous management team completely dropped the ball on the shift to digital gaming. What it does do is give the company enough capital to at least attempt a transformation.
\n
The same can't be said for AMC, which sold the vast majority of its shares six months ago to avoid bankruptcy. Even with a handful of recent capital raises, AMC has well over $3 billion in net debt, and its 2027 bond prices indicate the company is still a bankruptcy risk.
\n
To make matters worse, movie theater ticket sales have been in a 19-year decline. Even with a larger share of the movie theater industry, AMC's pie is shrinking. It's pretty clear that social media hype, ignorance of fundamental data, and misinformation are the key drivers behind AMC's irrational rally.
\n
\n
Canadian cannabis binge
\n
Robinhood's retail investors also have quite the crush on Canadian marijuana stocks. Five of the 33 most-held companies on Robinhood's leaderboard hail from our neighbor to the north.
\n
Even though cannabis-focused research company BDSA has forecasted weed sales growth in Canada from $2.6 billion in 2020 to $6.4 billion by 2026, the Canadian pot industry has been a disaster. Regulators have caused all sorts of supply chain issues, consumers have flocked to lower-margin value brands, and Canadian marijuana stocks overzealously expanded and, in some instances, decimated their balance sheets in the process.
\n
Robinhood investors' fascination with Sundial Growers is nothing short of frustrating. It may well be the single most-avoidable marijuana stock. Although its management team was able to pay off the company's existing debt by issuing stock and conducting debt-for-equity swaps, these share offerings simply haven't stopped. In a little over a seven-month stretch, more than 1.35 billion shares were issued. Sundial is showing zero regard for its shareholders, and its management team hasn't even laid out a concrete plan for how it'll spend its cash.
\n
We've seen similar issues from Aurora Cannabis, the second most-popular Canadian weed stock. Once the most-held stock on Robinhood, Aurora has drowned its shareholders in dilution. Even after selling one of its greenhouses and shuttering a number of other cultivation facilities, its cost-cutting has put it nowhere near close to generating a profit. As long as Aurora keeps burning through cash, its management team will continue to issue stock.
\n
\n
An obsession with travel companies
\n
Another absolute head-scratcher is Robinhood investors' obsession with travel companies -- specifically airlines and cruise ship operators.
\n
On one hand, the case could be made that the coronavirus pandemic overly punished the travel industry. Though we remain firmly in a global pandemic, increased domestic vaccination rates offer hope that the U.S. could soon put the pandemic in the rearview mirror. For instance, the Transportation Security Administration screened over 2 million passengers in a single day in mid-June for the first time since before the pandemic was declared.
\n
On the other hand, the travel industry tends to be built on mediocre margins, at best, and it typically requires the economy to be running on all cylinders. Despite recovering from a recession, most airline stocks are now lugging around billions in extra debt that they didn't have two years ago. American Airlines, which I've previously anointed as the worst airline stock, has $34 billion in net debt and $48 billion in aggregate debt. The interest American Airlines is going to have to pay to service this debt could cripple its growth initiatives for the next decade.
\n
Meanwhile, companies like Norwegian Cruise Line came perilously close to bankruptcy during the pandemic. Unlike airlines, which are essential for business travel, cruise ships aren't essential. They'll remain at the mercy of the pandemic until it's firmly in the rearview mirror. That means Norwegian may continue losing money well into 2022, if not beyond.
\n
A Tesla Model S plugged in for charging. Image source: Tesla.
\n
Alternative energy for autos in focus
\n
Lastly, Robinhood investors appear to be going all-in on anything that has to do with alternative/clean energy for vehicles.
\n
Electric vehicle (EV) kingpin Tesla has surpassed Apple to become the most-held stock on the platform, while Ford, General Motors, Workhorse Group, NIO, and Churchill Capital are other EV producers that found their way into the top 50 leaderboard (GM and Ford predominantly produce combustion-engine vehicles at the moment). If we also include Plug Power, FuelCell Energy, and Ideanomics, that's nine of the top 48 Robinhood stocks that are devoted to alternative energy adoption for autos.
\n
There's pretty much no question at this point that EVs and potentially hydrogen fuel cells represent the future of the automotive industry. There's a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and enterprise fleets to switch over to alternative solutions, as well as for ancillary players to build the infrastructure necessary to support EVs and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
\n
The issue is that investors have a tendency to overestimate how quickly new technology is adopted, and that's likely what we're witnessing with EVs. Despite the broad-based S&P 500 shedding 34% of its value in about a month during the first quarter of 2020, we've watched the benchmark index catapult more than 90% off of its lows.\nFor some investors, volatility is something they fear. But for predominantly young and novice retail investors, volatility is the impetus that's driven them to put their money to work in the stock market.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nAs volatility has whipsawed the market, these younger retail investors have found their home with online investing app Robinhood. We know this because Robinhood added approximately 3 million new users in 2020.\nThere are a number of lures for retail investors with Robinhood. For example, Robinhood doesn't charge a commission when stocks that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq exchange are bought or sold. Robinhood is also one of many brokerages that allows for fractional share investing. And, who can forget that Robinhood also gifts free shares of stock to new users.\nIn one respect, it's a fantastic thing to see young people putting their money to work. Time is the biggest ally investors have. The earlier they start putting their money to work, the better chance they have of compounding their nest egg.\nOn the other hand, Robinhood's retail investors have been buying some really awful stocks. Instead of thinking for the long-term, their buying activity demonstrates a willingness to chase momentum plays, penny stocks, and money-losing businesses.\nIf you don't believe me, here's a closer look at the 50 most-held Robinhood stocks as we enter July.\n\n\n\nCompany\nCompany\n\n\n\n\n1. Table by author.\nContinuing to chase meme stocks\nLike bees to honey, retail investors have been inseparable from meme stocks for almost six months. A meme stock is a company valued more for its social media favorability/hype than its operating performance.\nSince mid-January, retail investors have been banding together to buy shares and out-of-the-money call options on stocks with high levels of short interest. In many instances, companies with high levels of short interest have poor-performing businesses. This is how we've witnessed GameStop and AMC Entertainment become extremely popular on Robinhood.\nThe good news for GameStop is that it's been able to use its monumental run to sell shares of common stock and raise capital. It's completely erased its debt and given itself more than enough cash to oversee its ongoing transformation into a digital gaming company. To be clear, this doesn't negate the fact that GameStop's previous management team completely dropped the ball on the shift to digital gaming. What it does do is give the company enough capital to at least attempt a transformation.\nThe same can't be said for AMC, which sold the vast majority of its shares six months ago to avoid bankruptcy. Even with a handful of recent capital raises, AMC has well over $3 billion in net debt, and its 2027 bond prices indicate the company is still a bankruptcy risk.\nTo make matters worse, movie theater ticket sales have been in a 19-year decline. Even with a larger share of the movie theater industry, AMC's pie is shrinking. It's pretty clear that social media hype, ignorance of fundamental data, and misinformation are the key drivers behind AMC's irrational rally.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nCanadian cannabis binge\nRobinhood's retail investors also have quite the crush on Canadian marijuana stocks. Five of the 33 most-held companies on Robinhood's leaderboard hail from our neighbor to the north.\nEven though cannabis-focused research company BDSA has forecasted weed sales growth in Canada from $2.6 billion in 2020 to $6.4 billion by 2026, the Canadian pot industry has been a disaster. Regulators have caused all sorts of supply chain issues, consumers have flocked to lower-margin value brands, and Canadian marijuana stocks overzealously expanded and, in some instances, decimated their balance sheets in the process.\nRobinhood investors' fascination with Sundial Growers is nothing short of frustrating. Sundial is showing zero regard for its shareholders, and its management team hasn't even laid out a concrete plan for how it'll spend its cash.\nWe've seen similar issues from Aurora Cannabis, the second most-popular Canadian weed stock. Once the most-held stock on Robinhood, Aurora has drowned its shareholders in dilution. Even after selling one of its greenhouses and shuttering a number of other cultivation facilities, its cost-cutting has put it nowhere near close to generating a profit. As long as Aurora keeps burning through cash, its management team will continue to issue stock.\nImage source: American Airlines.\nAn obsession with travel companies\nAnother absolute head-scratcher is Robinhood investors' obsession with travel companies -- specifically airlines and cruise ship operators.\nOn one hand, the case could be made that the coronavirus pandemic overly punished the travel industry. Though we remain firmly in a global pandemic, increased domestic vaccination rates offer hope that the U.S. could soon put the pandemic in the rearview mirror. For instance, the Transportation Security Administration screened over 2 million passengers in a single day in mid-June for the first time since before the pandemic was declared.\nOn the other hand, the travel industry tends to be built on mediocre margins, at best, and it typically requires the economy to be running on all cylinders. Despite recovering from a recession, most airline stocks are now lugging around billions in extra debt that they didn't have two years ago. American Airlines, which I've previously anointed as the worst airline stock, has $34 billion in net debt and $48 billion in aggregate debt. The interest American Airlines is going to have to pay to service this debt could cripple its growth initiatives for the next decade.\nMeanwhile, companies like Norwegian Cruise Line came perilously close to bankruptcy during the pandemic. Unlike airlines, which are essential for business travel, cruise ships aren't essential. They'll remain at the mercy of the pandemic until it's firmly in the rearview mirror. That means Norwegian may continue losing money well into 2022, if not beyond.\nA Tesla Model S plugged in for charging. Image source: Tesla.\nAlternative energy for autos in focus\nLastly, Robinhood investors appear to be going all-in on anything that has to do with alternative/clean energy for vehicles.\nElectric vehicle (EV) kingpin Tesla has surpassed Apple to become the most-held stock on the platform, while Ford, General Motors, Workhorse Group, NIO, and Churchill Capital are other EV producers that found their way into the top 50 leaderboard (GM and Ford predominantly produce combustion-engine vehicles at the moment). If we also include Plug Power, FuelCell Energy, and Ideanomics, that's nine of the top 48 Robinhood stocks that are devoted to alternative energy adoption for autos.\nThere's pretty much no question at this point that EVs and potentially hydrogen fuel cells represent the future of the automotive industry. There's a multi-decade opportunity for consumers and enterprise fleets to switch over to alternative solutions, as well as for ancillary players to build the infrastructure necessary to support EVs and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.\nThe issue is that investors have a tendency to overestimate how quickly new technology is adopted, and that's likely what we're witnessing with EVs. The fact that Tesla is worth $647 billion is ludicrous considering that it hasn't demonstrated it can generate a profit from selling its EVs. The only way Tesla has been able to generate a profit is by selling renewable energy credits or taking a one-time benefit from the sale of Bitcoin.\nThe EV space is growing increasingly more crowded, and the major auto stocks are investing tens of billions into new models. It's unlikely that Tesla will be able to hold onto its competitive edge for much longer.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":44,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3576809938838823","authorId":"3576809938838823","name":"ProtectorK","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0f4a0243c51fa5f1ce93b852ff65effc","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3576809938838823","authorIdStr":"3576809938838823"},"content":"Give me comment and like too thanks","text":"Give me comment and like too thanks","html":"Give me comment and like too thanks"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":884885057,"gmtCreate":1631878917179,"gmtModify":1676530659604,"author":{"id":"3571697757751706","authorId":"3571697757751706","name":"JamesPang","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/936d6e2f7f57e8860a9bdfab91b7f40e","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571697757751706","authorIdStr":"3571697757751706"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like and comment","listText":"Please like and comment","text":"Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":8,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/884885057","repostId":"2168552491","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":155,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":172729528,"gmtCreate":1626995497364,"gmtModify":1703481916046,"author":{"id":"3571697757751706","authorId":"3571697757751706","name":"JamesPang","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/936d6e2f7f57e8860a9bdfab91b7f40e","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571697757751706","authorIdStr":"3571697757751706"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like and comment","listText":"Please like and comment","text":"Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":8,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/172729528","repostId":"1164478982","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1164478982","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626995319,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1164478982?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-23 07:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street ekes out gains, led by tech, growth stocks","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1164478982","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK - Big tech helped Wall Street inch up to a higher close on Thursday, modestly building on a two-day rally as lackluster economic data and mixed corporate earnings prompted a pivot back to growth stocks.A pull-back in economically sensitive cyclicals kept the S&P 500’s and the blue-chip Dow’s gains muted, while small-caps underperformed their larger rivals.“The market is flip-flopping between the view that economic growth has almost peaked so you need to buy stocks that manufacture thei","content":"
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Big tech helped Wall Street inch up to a higher close on Thursday, modestly building on a two-day rally as lackluster economic data and mixed corporate earnings prompted a pivot back to growth stocks.
\n
A pull-back in economically sensitive cyclicals kept the S&P 500’s and the blue-chip Dow’s gains muted, while small-caps underperformed their larger rivals.
\n
But megacap tech and tech-adjacent stocks, such as Microsoft Corp, Amazon.com, Apple Inc, Facebook Inc and Alphabet Inc, rose ahead of their quarterly results next week, putting the Nasdaq out front.
\n
All three major U.S. stock indexes ended the session within 1% of their record closing highs.
\n
Growth stocks, which outperformed throughout the health crisis, were back in favor, gaining 0.8%, while the value index slipped by 0.5%.
\n
“The market is flip-flopping between the view that economic growth has almost peaked so you need to buy stocks that manufacture their own growth like tech names, versus the view that economic growth will continue and you want to own cyclicals and value names,” said David Carter, chief investment officer at Lenox Wealth Advisors in New York.
\n
The number of U.S. workers filing first-time applications for unemployment benefits spiked unexpectedly to 419,000 last week, a two-month high, according to the Labor Department.
\n
Market participants are closely watching labor market indicators for hints as to when the Federal Reserve, expected to convene next week for its two-day monetary policy meeting, will begin discussions about hiking key interest rates from near zero.
\n
“The jobless data today didn’t have a meaningful impact on markets or the economic outlook,” Carter added. “It’s now all about how much longer the Fed will tolerate low rates. The Fed seems to be favoring its full employment mandate more than its price stability mandate.”\n“Accordingly, the upcoming Fed meeting could be impactful,” Carter said.\nBenchmark Treasury yields eased after the bid at the largest-ever TIPS auction touched a record low, pressuring rate sensitive banks.\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25.35 points, or 0.07%, to 34,823.35, the S&P 500 gained 8.79 points, or 0.20%, to 4,367.48 and the Nasdaq Composite added 52.64 points, or 0.36%, to 14,684.60.\nOf the 11 major sectors of the S&P 500, tech was shining brightest, gaining 0.7%. Energy stocks suffered the largest percentage drop.\nThe second-quarter reporting season barreled ahead at full-throttle, with 104 of the companies in the S&P 500 having reported. Of those, 88% have beaten consensus estimates, according to Refinitiv.\nDrugmaker Biogen Inc gained 1.1% after hiking its full-year revenue guidance, while Domino’s Pizza Inc surged 14.6% to an all-time high on the heels of its quarterly report.\nSouthwest Airlines Co posted a bigger-than-expected quarterly loss, sending its stock down 3.5%, and American Airlines Group Inc dipped 1.1% even after reporting a quarterly profit.\nThe S&P 1500 Airlines index ended the session off 1.7%.\nShares of Texas Instruments Inc slid 5.3% after its current-quarter revenue forecast cast concerns as to whether the company will be able to meet spiking demand in the face of a global semiconductor shortage.\nThe Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index ended the session down 0.9%.\nChipmaker Intel Corp slipped more than 1% in extended trading after the chipmaker posted results and raised its annual revenue forecast.\nDeclining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.82-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.90-to-1 ratio favored decliners.\nThe S&P 500 posted 39 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 70 new highs and 54 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 8.25 billion shares, compared with the 10.12 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":213,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9092317672,"gmtCreate":1644537515930,"gmtModify":1676533937972,"author":{"id":"3571697757751706","authorId":"3571697757751706","name":"JamesPang","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/936d6e2f7f57e8860a9bdfab91b7f40e","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571697757751706","authorIdStr":"3571697757751706"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please like and comment","listText":"Please like and comment","text":"Please like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9092317672","repostId":"2210187875","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2210187875","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1644532585,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2210187875?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-02-11 06:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street Ends down Sharply on Fears of Aggressive Fed Rate Hikes","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2210187875","media":"Reuters","summary":"* CPI rose 7.5% in January, above estimates* Bullard \"dramatically\" more hawkish* Disney jumps on upbeat quarterly results* Indexes: Dow -1.47%, S&P 500 -1.81%, Nasdaq -2.10%Feb 10 (Reuters) - Wall St","content":"

* CPI rose 7.5% in January, above estimates

* Bullard "dramatically" more hawkish

* Disney jumps on upbeat quarterly results

* Indexes: Dow -1.47%, S&P 500 -1.81%, Nasdaq -2.10%

Feb 10 (Reuters) - Wall Street ended sharply lower on Thursday after U.S. consumer prices data came in hotter than expected and subsequent comments from a Federal Reserve official raised fears the U.S. central bank will hike rates aggressively to fight inflation.

U.S. Labor Department data showed consumer prices surged 7.5% last month on a year-over-year basis, topping economists' estimates of 7.3% and marking the biggest annual increase in inflation in 40 years.

U.S. stocks fell further after St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank President James Bullard said the data had made him "dramatically" more hawkish. I’ve experienced that countless times personally, and I think pretty much everyone who tries their hand at growing capital through the financial markets does as well. The important thing is not to fall in love with a stock and let it destroy your portfolio, and in the case of EV mothershipTesla(TSLA), I certainly had my fair share of practice at letting go of a failed thesis recently.
\n
Back inearly April, I said it was time to buy Tesla based upon its fairly reliable history of running higher into earnings announcements. The stock was at $691 at the time and did move higher in the next couple of weeks, but as we can see from the below, the move didn’t stick. That caused me to rethink my position in the short-term with Tesla, and now that we are four weeks out from the next earnings report, we have a different situation on our hands.
\n
Source: StockCharts
\n
I’ve annotated several things on the daily chart because the situation is quite interesting for Tesla during this critical period leading up to the next earnings release. The first thing I’ll note is that the accumulation/distribution line remains very strong, having never wavered from its prior levels achieved during the massive rally that took place mostly in 2020. That’s a good sign because the bulls and bears remain roughly equally matched despite a share price that has given the bulls every reason to move on.
\n
Momentum is more of a mixed picture because the PPO and 14-day RSI are both showing some signs of positive divergence, but also signs that bullish momentum is nowhere near high enough to push the stock into another rally phase. On the divergence side, momentum is gradually moving higher while the share price bounces around, indicating that the worst of the selling is likely done, but that we’re in a digestion period. The 14-day RSI hasn’t yet crested the centerline in earnest, which again means that bullish momentum is fairly weak.
\n
Overall, I’d say momentum is showing what you might expect at this stage, which is that the selling pressure has abated, but we’re not in rally mode. Yet.
\n
Finally, the elephant in the room is the descending triangle I noted above, and I’ve added some extra bars at the end of the chart to show what the resolution of the triangle might look like. We can see at the current slope of the line that the triangle will likely resolve near the end of July, which just so happens to coincide with the earnings release. This is a bearish pattern so I don’t want to make everything seem like sunshine and lollipops, but the rest of the chart is mixed, so we’ll have to wait and see.
\n
The earnings report, in my view, is going to be the catalyst one way or the other for the breakout from the triangle. Which direction it will go is anyone’s guess, but I’d be ready for a wild reaction to the earnings release in July.
\n
If we look at a weekly chart, I see a much rosier picture.
\n
Source: StockCharts
\n
We can see that the stock ran up massively in 2020 and took with it the accumulation/distribution line, as well as the momentum indicators, as you’d expect. But since the selling began, we see signs that the stock has simply worked off its overbought conditions, which looks bullish to me.
\n
The 50-week moving average has served as support during this consolidation phase, and it currently stands at $575, so I’d watch that level if we see more selling. On the plus side, the accumulation/distribution line looks beautiful and again, is supportive of this selling being a digestion period rather than the end of the bull market for Tesla.
\n
Momentum would seem to support that as well, as the PPO and 14-week RSI are back at centerline support. What happens after this is critical, obviously, but the weekly chart doesn’t show Tesla as breaking down on a longer-term basis. The negative divergences we saw since 2020 began have given way to momentum resetting, which often happens before a new bull phase begins. With the earnings report looming in July, and the daily and weekly charts showing different pictures (at least to my eye), it’s going to be an interesting next four weeks for sure.
\n
Fundamentals still bullish
\n
I’d sum up the chart as having a short-term set of challenges for the bulls, but longer-term, I still see Tesla going higher. On a fundamental basis, I think the conclusion is decidedly more bullish. Let’s start with revenue revisions, which have been nothing short of terrific.
\n
Source:Seeking Alpha
\n
All years are showing uptrends in revenue revisions, and in particular, the out years. Let us not forget that these positive revisions are occurring during a time when countless startups and internal combustion engine OGs like GM (GM), Ford (F) and Volkswagen (OTCPK:VWAGY) are investing tens of billions of dollars to take market share in EVs. None of this is new and it isn’t like the analyst community is surprised by these investments; Tesla is simply on a tremendous upward trajectory when it comes to growing revenue.
\n
Canaccordpointed out last week that the Model S Plaid Plus delay was likely due to the 4680 cell design not being ready for prime time. That very well could be the case, and it wouldn’t be the first time Tesla disappointed with a time frame it gave investors. Remember therobo-taxi claim?
\n
At any rate, the company’s lineup continues to resonate with customers and now that capacity constraints should lessen greatly over the coming years – new factories in a few parts of the world will help – the path of least resistance for Tesla is no doubt higher. This will only get better as Tesla can decrease the per-unit cost of things like the batteries so it can better compete with mainstream automakers on price, and become a mainstream automaker rather than a niche manufacturer for the well-heeled.
\n
Another thing scale is affording Tesla is monumental progress with profit margins. Below we have trailing-twelve-months gross margins, SG&A costs, and EBIT margin as a percentage of revenue.
\n
Source: TIKR.com
\n
All three of these lines are moving in the right direction. Gross margins have been rising thanks to higher sales and production volumes, a trend that should continue so long as sales remain robust. In addition, Tesla is spending much less on an SG&A basis than it used to, which again, is the product of higher sales volume. SG&A used to be in the mid-20% range of revenue, which is unsustainable. Today, it’s only 10%, which means operating margins have gone quite positive, and with room to run in the future.
\n
Margins have always been an easy thing for the bears to point to, but that is simply no longer the case, and if you have a long holding period, the margin situation is going to work out in the bulls’ favor.
\n
Source:Seeking Alpha
\n
This is all pointing to ever-higher EPS estimates, as we can see above. Analysts continue to try and keep up with Tesla’s upward trajectory, and so long as sales volumes and margins continue their march higher, so will these lines. Again, this is a feather in the cap of the bulls.
\n
Other considerations
\n
Tesla is not for the faint of heart, because it is volatile and we are at a point in the history of the automobile that an EV gold rush of sorts is occurring. Everyone is investing to win once the internal combustion engine is gone, but Tesla has a massive head start on the competition.
\n
Even so, there are risks to consider. First, Tesla could lose its technology lead over time as legacy manufacturers throw tens of billions of dollars at R&D on battery technology. Tesla is far and away the superior battery maker today, but that does not guarantee it stays that way. To be clear, I don’t see that as a viable outcome in the near-term, but ten years from now? Twenty? It's a risk.
\n
Another risk is that Tesla uses its stock as a piggy bank, issuing shares to fund R&D, factory construction, and the like.
\n
Source: TIKR.com
\n
The share count has nearly doubled in the past decade, which is pretty ugly from a shareholders’ perspective, as we usually only see this kind of dilution with REITs or BDCs that issue equity capital as a normal course of business. Manufacturing stocks don’t generally do anything like this, but Tesla has made it work. Still, you have to imagine it is possible that over a decade holding period, you’ll be diluted out of half of your ownership in the company. This also creates an uphill battle for EPS as earnings are spread over more and more shares, so I want to be clear this is an unequivocal negative for shareholders. However, let me now point you to what could possibly be the saving grace for this perma-dilution; free cash flow.
\n
Source: TIKR.com
\n
Tesla’s trailing-twelve-months FCF has improved immensely in recent years, as the company is producing massive amounts of operating cash flow that it never did before, which is owed once again to sales volume and margin growth. Tesla has surpassed the point where it needs to constantly issue capital just to survive because it is creating its own through its operations. This is massively important for the bull case because it means the dilution we’ve seen in recent yearsshouldn’tbe necessary any longer.
\n
Indeed, if we look at net debt, we can see just how much Tesla’s balance sheet has improved, which again supports not having to dilute shareholders to stay afloat.
\n
Source: TIKR.com
\n
Net debt has turned into a net cash position of late, with Tesla having nearly $5 billion in cash and equivalents more than debt. Tesla’s financing situation has improved enormously, and that’s good for those of us that are bullish.
\n
Is it cheap?
\n
Not really. But then again revolutionary companies rarely are. The good news is that the price-to-sales ratio has halved since the peak earlier this year, but at 11x forward revenue, I cannot in good conscience call it cheap.
\n
Source: TIKR.com
\n
However, it is a lot cheaper than it was, and withrevenueslated to rise by more than half this year, and thendoubleagain by 2024, you don’t need the multiple to rise for a bullish outlook.
\n
I’ll reiterate that there are risks to Tesla. I’ve experienced that countless times personally, and I think pretty much everyone who tries their hand at growing capital through the financial markets does as well. The important thing is not to fall in love with a stock and let it destroy your portfolio, and in the case of EV mothershipTesla(TSLA), I certainly had my fair share of practice at letting go of a failed thesis recently.\nBack inearly April, I said it was time to buy Tesla based upon its fairly reliable history of running higher into earnings announcements. The stock was at $691 at the time and did move higher in the next couple of weeks, but as we can see from the below, the move didn’t stick. That caused me to rethink my position in the short-term with Tesla, and now that we are four weeks out from the next earnings report, we have a different situation on our hands.\nSource: StockCharts\nI’ve annotated several things on the daily chart because the situation is quite interesting for Tesla during this critical period leading up to the next earnings release. The first thing I’ll note is that the accumulation/distribution line remains very strong, having never wavered from its prior levels achieved during the massive rally that took place mostly in 2020. That’s a good sign because the bulls and bears remain roughly equally matched despite a share price that has given the bulls every reason to move on.\nMomentum is more of a mixed picture because the PPO and 14-day RSI are both showing some signs of positive divergence, but also signs that bullish momentum is nowhere near high enough to push the stock into another rally phase. On the divergence side, momentum is gradually moving higher while the share price bounces around, indicating that the worst of the selling is likely done, but that we’re in a digestion period. The 14-day RSI hasn’t yet crested the centerline in earnest, which again means that bullish momentum is fairly weak.\nOverall, I’d say momentum is showing what you might expect at this stage, which is that the selling pressure has abated, but we’re not in rally mode. Yet.\nFinally, the elephant in the room is the descending triangle I noted above, and I’ve added some extra bars at the end of the chart to show what the resolution of the triangle might look like. We can see at the current slope of the line that the triangle will likely resolve near the end of July, which just so happens to coincide with the earnings release. This is a bearish pattern so I don’t want to make everything seem like sunshine and lollipops, but the rest of the chart is mixed, so we’ll have to wait and see.\nThe earnings report, in my view, is going to be the catalyst one way or the other for the breakout from the triangle. Which direction it will go is anyone’s guess, but I’d be ready for a wild reaction to the earnings release in July.\nIf we look at a weekly chart, I see a much rosier picture.\nSource: StockCharts\nWe can see that the stock ran up massively in 2020 and took with it the accumulation/distribution line, as well as the momentum indicators, as you’d expect. But since the selling began, we see signs that the stock has simply worked off its overbought conditions, which looks bullish to me.\nThe 50-week moving average has served as support during this consolidation phase, and it currently stands at $575, so I’d watch that level if we see more selling. On the plus side, the accumulation/distribution line looks beautiful and again, is supportive of this selling being a digestion period rather than the end of the bull market for Tesla.\nMomentum would seem to support that as well, as the PPO and 14-week RSI are back at centerline support. What happens after this is critical, obviously, but the weekly chart doesn’t show Tesla as breaking down on a longer-term basis. The negative divergences we saw since 2020 began have given way to momentum resetting, which often happens before a new bull phase begins. With the earnings report looming in July, and the daily and weekly charts showing different pictures (at least to my eye), it’s going to be an interesting next four weeks for sure.\nFundamentals still bullish\nI’d sum up the chart as having a short-term set of challenges for the bulls, but longer-term, I still see Tesla going higher. The heavyweight tech sector(.SPLRCT)fell while the healthcare sector(.SPXHC)was dragged down by a weak profit forecast from Abbott Laboratories(ABT.N).Data showed U.S.manufacturing activity pickedup in May as pent-up demand in a reopening economy boosted orders.
