Its stock is up ~398% from its announcement price,\" the report says.</p>\n<blockquote>\n <i><b>\"Unbeknownst to investors, DraftKings’ merger with SBTech also brings exposure to extensive dealings in black-market gaming, money laundering and organized crime.\"</b></i>\n</blockquote>\n<p>\"We estimate that roughly 50% of SBTech’s revenue continues to come from markets where gambling is banned, based on an analysis of DraftKings’ SEC filings, conversations with former employees, and supporting documents,\" Hindenburg alleges. \"As one former employee told us, DraftKings’ subsidiary SBTech has 'sold to plenty of mobs', a sharp contrast to the clean image of DraftKings’ brand-conscious partners, including the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, UFC and PGA, and the company’s recent hire of supermodel Gisele Bundchen to advise on governance issues.\"</p>\n<p>The report also alleges:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prior to the SPAC merger, SBTech seems to have made a concerted effort to distance itself from its black-market dealings. Illicit customer relationships were shuffled into a newly formed “distributor” entity called BTi/CoreTech, with ~50 SBTech employees shifted across town to the new entity.</li>\n <li>The CEO selected to run BTi/CoreTech was formerly an executive of a ‘binary options’ gambling firm raided by the FBI and subsequently charged by the SEC for deceiving U.S. investors out of over $100 million.</li>\n <li>Former SBTech employees called BTi/CoreTech a “front”, and said the split preserved SBTech’s (and now DraftKings’) illicit business while shielding the public company from scrutiny. For all practical purposes, it appears that BTi/CoreTech functions as DraftKings’ undisclosed illegal gaming division.</li>\n <li>We identified numerous black market clients of DraftKings’ “front” entity, through searches on social media and back-end web infrastructure. For example, an Asia-focused site tied to a triad kingpin at the center of a Swiss money laundering investigation advertises its use of BTi/CoreTech technology.</li>\n <li>In 2019, Vietnamese authorities arrested 22 individuals involved in a “massive illegal online sports betting ring” linked to BTi/CoreTech’s platform.</li>\n <li>Contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery, a former employee told us SBTech had extensive operations in Iran, violating local laws in a market subject to heavy U.S. sanctions. We were told SBTech knowingly operated there for 4-5 years with the founder directly overseeing the operation.</li>\n <li>Around the time of the DraftKings deal, SBTech’s founder spun off another gaming brand that also operated in markets where gambling was banned, transferring it to his brother. The brand was behind a “massive Chinese operation”, according to a former employee, contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery.</li>\n <li>The brand continues to operate in China despite the strict local rules prohibiting online gambling, according to our review of web infrastructure for multiple China-facing gambling sites. DraftKings continues to transact with the entity, according to SEC filings.</li>\n <li>DraftKings trades at a ~26x last twelve months (LTM) sales multiple and a ~20x estimated 2021 sales multiple despite (i) no expectation of earnings for years, (ii) intense competition, and (iii) regulatory risk. The company posted net losses of $844 million in 2020 and $346 million last quarter.</li>\n <li>Insiders have dumped over $1.4 billion in stock since the company went public a little over a year ago, with SBTech’s founder leading the pack, having personally sold ~$568 million in shares.</li>\n <li>Despite a rocky track record prior to taking DraftKings public, the company’s SPAC sponsors ultimately received 9.3 million shares, worth around $114 million at the time, in exchange for a token $25 thousand contribution.</li>\n <li>We spoke with several industry experts and competitors who questioned the viability of DraftKings’ model of aggressively burning cash on promotion and marketing to acquire customers in the near term, despite a lack of evidence of long-term customer brand loyalty.</li>\n <li>We think DraftKings has systematically skirted the law and taken elaborate steps to obfuscate its black market operations. We were told SBTech knowingly operated there for 4-5 years with the founder directly overseeing the operation.\nAround the time of the DraftKings deal, SBTech’s founder spun off another gaming brand that also operated in markets where gambling was banned, transferring it to his brother. The brand was behind a “massive Chinese operation”, according to a former employee, contrary to representations made to Oregon’s state lottery.\nThe brand continues to operate in China despite the strict local rules prohibiting online gambling, according to our review of web infrastructure for multiple China-facing gambling sites. DraftKings continues to transact with the entity, according to SEC filings.\nDraftKings trades at a ~26x last twelve months (LTM) sales multiple and a ~20x estimated 2021 sales multiple despite (i) no expectation of earnings for years, (ii) intense competition, and (iii) regulatory risk. Sales of Surface hardware—laptops and whiteboards—were likely strong in the quarter, given the huge recent growth in PC purchases, although there is some potential that shortages of components resulted in unfilled demand. Strength in the PC market also bodes well for sales of the Windows operating system.&nbsp;</p><p>Microsoft breaks down its results into&nbsp;three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, which includes Office 365, Dynamics, and LinkedIn; Intelligence Cloud, which includes Azure and enterprise server software; and More Personal Computing, which includes Windows, Xbox, Surface hardware, and Bing.</p><p>When Microsoft reported its results for its fiscal second quarter in late January,CFO Amy Hood provided revenue guidance for each segment. The call for Intelligent Cloud was for revenue of $14.7 billion to $14.95 billion, while she predicted $12.3 billion to $12.7 billion for More Personal Computing. If revenue for each segment came in at the top of its forecast range, the total would be $41.25 billion.</p><p>In research notes, several analysts cited positive comments from customers and resellers in projecting strong results.</p><p>Last week, KeyBanc Capital’s Michael Turits repeated his Overweight rating on the stock while lifting his target for the price to $295, from $280. To get there, the stock needs to rise to $264.55.The shares have gained 18% year to date.Analysts expect another strong quarter from the company’s Azure and Office 365 cloud businesses, and will be looking for signs of accelerating growth in its enterprise operation. Sales of Surface hardware—laptops and whiteboards—were likely strong in the quarter, given the huge recent growth in PC purchases, although there is some potential that shortages of components resulted in unfilled demand. Strength in the PC market also bodes well for sales of the Windows operating system. Microsoft breaks down its results into three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, which includes Office 365, Dynamics, and LinkedIn; Intelligence Cloud, which includes Azure and enterprise server software; and More Personal Computing, which includes Windows, Xbox, Surface hardware, and Bing.When Microsoft reported its results for its fiscal second quarter in late January,CFO Amy Hood provided revenue guidance for each segment. While social-spending programs will be outlined later in April, the administration’s drive to expand help for the poor will be visible even in infrastructure, through proposals such as the provision of safe drinking water.</p><p>“It’s important to acknowledge that we’ve seen decades of this rising economic inequality,” Heather Boushey, a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said last week in aninterviewwith Bloomberg Radio. “The ultimate measure of success of the economy is how well it’s working for people all across these United States.”</p><p>For many, it’s not working well. The gaps between the richest Americans and the middle class, along with the lowest-income households, widened in the years before the pandemic struck -- even amid the longest U.S. expansion on record. Thatincreasedto 13 times by 2007 and 17 times by 2017.</li><li>The share of total income going to upper-income households -- defined as double the median level --surgedto 48% from 29% from 1970 to 2018, according to the Pew Research Center. Yet for researchers like John Friedman, an economics professor at Brown University, the problem is not just about outcomes.</p><p>“It’s not just that there’s growing inequality from an ex-post perspective, but there’s tremendous inequality of opportunity,” he said.</p><p>He points to data showing how children who display similar academic abilities at very young ages, but come from different income and racial backgrounds and varying types of neighborhoods end up withvery different outcomeswhen it comes to incomes and career advancement.</p><p>“It’s not just about who’s smart,” Friedman said. “And there’s almost universal agreement that having your life possibilities determined by the accident of your birth is not something we’re OK with.”</p><p>But economists are in sharp disagreement on whether Biden’s economic agenda will be well-aimed at addressing inequalities. At the top end of the spectrum, Coinbase would be bigger than a number of U.S. exchanges, including ICE, Nasdaq, CME Group <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CME\">$(CME)$</a> and Cboe Global Markets <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CBOE\">$(CBOE)$</a>.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d2200134a14a3d37a8a656d85f6906c0\" tg-width=\"955\" tg-height=\"657\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>David Trainer, CEO of New Constructs, an investment research firm, said the crypto platform's value is ridiculously high. \"Even though Coinbase's revenue surged over the past 12 months, the company has little-to-no-chance of meeting the future profit expectations that are baked into its ridiculously high expected valuation of $100 billion,\" he said.</p><p>\"Coinbase's expected valuation of $100 billion implies that its revenue will be 1.5x the combined 2020 revenues of two of the most established exchanges in the marketplace, Nasdaq Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NDAQ\">$(NDAQ)$</a> and Intercontinental Exchange <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ICE\">$(ICE)$</a>, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange,\" he said.</p><p>Trainer said that based on his calculation, Coinbase's valuation should be closer to $18.9 billion--an 81% decrease from the $100 billion expected valuation.</p><p><b>'Not for the faint of heart'</b></p><p>MoffettNathanson analyst Lisa Ellis explained to MarketWatch why the offering is, as she describes it \"not for the faint of heart,\" but why she initiated coverage of the exchange at a buy with a price-target of $600, even before it sees its first trade on the Nasdaq.</p><p>\"I'm super super bullish on Coinbase...because you get the sense that they are a market leader in the space and crypto agnostic,\" she said.</p><p>That said, she acknowledges that currently 90% of Coinbase's revenues are derived directly from retail trading, with most in the U.S. and trading centered primarily on the two largest cryptos: bitcoin and Ether  on the ethereum blockchain.</p><p>\"So the implications is that Coinbase's revenues are correlated with the level of activity in cryto currency and especially bitcoin and ether.\"</p><p>Ellis says investors need to have at least a one-year long-term investment strategy in bitcoin, which could still go to zero by some bearish accounts, but a three-year outlook is even better, because the crypto complex has tended to operate in three-year cycles of boom and then bust.</p><p><b>Validation for crypto or a top?</b></p><p>Some bulls see Coinbase as validation for the nascent crpyto industry.</p><p>Alex Mashinsky, head of crypto-lending and trading platform Celsius Network, put it this way:</p><p>\"We look at the Coinbase listing as an additional validation of the space, and a major PR opportunity for the entire industry to shine as the future of finance,\" he told MarketWatch via email.</p><p>\"Coinbase has more users and more revenues than many of the largest Wall Street players and is more profitable than any major exchange, and this validation puts most skeptics at a crossroads having to re-evaluate their denial and frustration with the disruption coming at them from all sides.\"</p><p>Others suggest that it may prove a new top for the market and put crypto prices under pressure after a precipitous rally in recent days and a fresh record for bitcoin.</p><p>Yves Lamoureux, the president of Montreal-based macroeconomic research firm Lamoureux &amp; Co., told MarketWatch that he is fearful that too much euphoria surrounds bitcoin and crypto and sees it due for a retrenchment as a result. \"Can you find out-there anyone with a bearish viewpoint?\" he asked. \"A resounding no,\" said Lamoureux.</p><p><b>Is Coinbase the largest crypto exchange?</b></p><p>Coinbase is the second-largest crypto platform, but the largest in the U.S., by volume. It surged to an all time high of $483 last week but appeared to run out of steam Monday, falling well below its Friday close of $325.\nThe stock closed at $17.25 on Jan. 4, the first trading day of 2021.\n2021.\n1. Call options cost trends\nWhen viewing a stock that's had a long speculative run, it's important to look at the call options on the stock when it stops moving higher, said Julian Emanuel, chief equity and derivatives strategist at BTIG.\nCall options, which allow but don't require investors to buy at a certain price, are basically bets the stock will continue to rise. Aggressive buying in those options can help speculative stocks go even higher until the options themselves become too expensive.\n\"The high price of the options themselves are likely to cause the stock to top and then sell-off or at least go sideways and ultimately sell off as the speculative mania moves on to different areas,\" said Emanuel. \"We're seeing this today in silver.\"\nSilver has been the target of aggressive buying and has also caught the interest of traders in the Reddit forum WallStreetBets.iShares Silver Trust ETFjumped 7.1% Monday and call buying continued to surge at record levels in the ETF.\nRetail investors have been very active in options, opening and closing positions in the same day in many speculative stocks. As for GameStop, Emanuel said the calls appear to have become too expensive to remain a source of further upside for the stock.\nFor instance, the at-the-money Feb. 19 call options — that is, an option with a strike price that's identical to the company's current share price — in GameStop at Friday's close cost about 50% of the company's actual share price, Emanuel said.\nTo give that perspective, the S&P 500 Feb. 19 at-the-money options cost just 2.5% of the S&P's value.\n\"It's difficult to maintain a level of speculative interest when it becomes too expensive to buy call options,\" said Emanuel.\n2. Reduced demand\nTwo other factors depressing the stock are the reduction in short interest as investors were forced to cover shorts, and that brokers have restricted buying in GameStop, Emanuel added. That takes away an important source of demand, and speculative investors become less interested, he said.\n\"It seems the Reddit army is moving into a different area,\" said Chris Murphy, co-head of derivatives strategy at Susquehanna International Group. \"The stock is going down and the volatility goes down.\"\n\"Usually when a stock goes down, volatility goes up,\" he said. \"In this instance, as people leave and move into other areas, you're going to see the stock price and volatility go down.\"\nThe 30-day implied volatility in GameStop options on Friday was 430% but it declined to 375% and continues to fall, Murphy said. Implied volatility measures the expected swing in a stock's price.\nThat means investors are now expecting a move as big as 23% in the stock in one day in either direction, down from 27% on Friday.\nOf course, GameStop has also been affected by trading restrictions.\nRobinhood and other online brokers last week limited buying in GameStop, but allowed investors to sell. Sales of Surface hardware—laptops and whiteboards—were likely strong in the quarter, given the huge recent growth in PC purchases, although there is some potential that shortages of components resulted in unfilled demand. Strength in the PC market also bodes well for sales of the Windows operating system.&nbsp;</p><p>Microsoft breaks down its results into&nbsp;three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, which includes Office 365, Dynamics, and LinkedIn; Intelligence Cloud, which includes Azure and enterprise server software; and More Personal Computing, which includes Windows, Xbox, Surface hardware, and Bing.</p><p>When Microsoft reported its results for its fiscal second quarter in late January,CFO Amy Hood provided revenue guidance for each segment. The call for Intelligent Cloud was for revenue of $14.7 billion to $14.95 billion, while she predicted $12.3 billion to $12.7 billion for More Personal Computing. If revenue for each segment came in at the top of its forecast range, the total would be $41.25 billion.</p><p>In research notes, several analysts cited positive comments from customers and resellers in projecting strong results.</p><p>Last week, KeyBanc Capital’s Michael Turits repeated his Overweight rating on the stock while lifting his target for the price to $295, from $280. He says the company is likely benefiting from a combination of strong IT demand and continuing strength in PC shipments.</p><p>“We continue to see Microsoft’s combination of expanding Azure scope, broad enterprise application innovation, and aggressive bundling seeing success in the market,” he wrote. “Nearly all North American Microsoft distributors/resellers we spoke with reported Microsoft channel revenue on or above plan.”</p><p>J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Murphy came away from his own new survey of resellers of Microsoft products encouraged about the outlook. He says those companies’ quarterly sales of Microsoft goods came in an average of 3.3% above their expectations, driven by improving enterprise demand. He reported strength across the company’s enterprise product lines, with growth in Azure, Teams, Office 365, and security products, among other places. To get there, the stock needs to rise to $264.55.The shares have gained 18% year to date.Analysts expect another strong quarter from the company’s Azure and Office 365 cloud businesses, and will be looking for signs of accelerating growth in its enterprise operation. Sales of Surface hardware—laptops and whiteboards—were likely strong in the quarter, given the huge recent growth in PC purchases, although there is some potential that shortages of components resulted in unfilled demand. Strength in the PC market also bodes well for sales of the Windows operating system. Microsoft breaks down its results into three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, which includes Office 365, Dynamics, and LinkedIn; Intelligence Cloud, which includes Azure and enterprise server software; and More Personal Computing, which includes Windows, Xbox, Surface hardware, and Bing.When Microsoft reported its results for its fiscal second quarter in late January,CFO Amy Hood provided revenue guidance for each segment. For Productivity and Business Processes, she projected revenue of $13.35 billion to $13.6 billion. The call for Intelligent Cloud was for revenue of $14.7 billion to $14.95 billion, while she predicted $12.3 billion to $12.7 billion for More Personal Computing. However,&nbsp;a look at the daily chart emphasizes the multi-month chop and consolidation I referenced at the top of the story.</p>\n<p>Last week, shares tried to break out over downtrend resistance, but ultimately failed as Facebook stock topped out at $277.90. Monday’s attempt was also&nbsp;stymied&nbsp;by downtrend resistance.</p>\n<p>However, the sellers couldn’t keep bulls in check forever. Shares eventually burst through downtrend trend resistance earlier this week, while also giving bulls a weekly-up rotation over $277.90.</p>\n<p>Incidentally, Facebook stock went monthly-up as well, clearing the February high at $276.60.</p>\n<p>On the downside, I really want to see Facebook hold the $276.50 to $278 area to keep these rotations intact. Further, I want to see the stock hold up over the 10-day and 100-day moving averages.</p>\n<p>As it tussles with the 61.8% retracement, keep an eye on the January high at $286.79.</p>\n<p>If the stock can clear that mark and make new 2021 highs, then $290-plus is possible, ultimately putting $300 in play, as well as the 52-week high up at $304.67.</p>\n<p>Despite the sleepy nature of the FAANG stocks over the last few months, Facebook looks to be waking up. That starts to change on a move back below $276. The site, which requires stockholders to self-identify and sign-up for the chain’s loyalty program, contains “special offers” and company updates.\nOne of those special offers is a free tub of popcorn.\nAMC’s retail investors have propped up company since January, sending the stock up more than 1,400% in the last five months. Shares were up more than 20% in premarket trading Wednesday.\nThe company said it had 3.2 million individual shareholders as of March 11, who own about 80% of the 450 million shares outstanding. Many of them were inspired by the r/wallstreetbets Reddit page to purchase the stock.
