Times","summary":"The cracks are showing in Netflix’s worldwide dominance.\nNetflix, Inc. is still king of streaming vi","content":"
The cracks are showing in Netflix’s worldwide dominance.
\n
Netflix, Inc. is still king of streaming video, but audiences are slowly shifting toward new rivals, namely the Walt Disney Company’s Disney+, according to research from Parrot Analytics.
\n
Netflix’s share of worldwide demand interest — a measure of the popularity of its shows created by Parrot and a key barometer of how many new subscribers a streaming service is likely to attract — fell below 50 percent for the first time in the second quarter of the year.
\n
The company’s “lack of new hit original programming and the increased competition from other streamers is going to ultimately have a negative impact on subscriber growth and retention,” Parrot said in a news release.
\n
Netflix relies on creating as many different shows and films for as many different audiences as possible, and the pandemic upset that formula, forcing the shutdown of productions around the world.
\n
The company will announce its second quarter financial results Tuesday afternoon and has already told investors not to expect too much. It set a surprisingly low bar for the quarter when it told Wall Street that itanticipatedadding one million new subscribers, a meager uptick to its current total of 207 million customers. (It’s worth noting that lower expectations are easier to beat, and beating expectations by even a hair can boost a company’s stock.)
\n
Disney+ more than doubled its share of demand interest in the second quarter compared with a year ago, and Amazon.com Prime Video, Apple TV+ and HBO Max are also gaining, according to Parrot.
\n
Even as newer entrants have chipped away at Netflix’s long-held grip, Reed Hastings, Netflix’s co-chief executive, has dismissed the competition as pretenders to the Netflix throne. In April, after Mr. Hastings was asked by investors why the company had missed its expectations for adding new customers in the first quarter, he said, “Of course we’re wondering, ‘Well, wait a second, are we sure it’s not competition?’”
\n
“We really looked through all the data, looking at different regions where new competitors are launched, are not launched,” he continued. “And we just can’t see any difference in our relative growth in those regions, which is what gives us confidence.”
\n
“We’ve been competing with Amazon Prime for 13 years, with Hulu for 14 years,” he added. “It’s always been very competitive with linear TV, too. So there’s no real change that we can detect in the competitive environment. It’s always been high and remains high.”
\n
In other words: If Disney+ is hurting us, we haven’t seen it.
\n
The argument that Netflix has been competing with regular television and other streamers for a long time overlooks the fact that new rivals like Disney+ and AppleTV+ are much cheaper than Netflix (and subscription television). And although those services produce far fewer originals than Netflix, they appear to be getting more bang for their buck.
\n
In the second quarter, Disney+ got a big boost of demand interest from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” a series based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has thoroughly dominated the box office in recent years. “Loki,” another Marvel spinoff, also helped, according to Parrot.
\n
Amazon Prime Video got a boost in the period with the launch of “Invincible,” an animated superhero series for adults. And AppleTV+ attracted new customers with a trio of originals: “Mosquito Coast,” a drama based on the 1981 novel; “For All Mankind,” a sci-fi series, and “Mythic Quest,” a comedy series that takes place in a game developer studio.
\n
Speaking of, Netflix said this month that it planned to jump into video games. It has hired a gaming executive, Mike Verdu, formerly of Electronic Arts and Facebook, to oversee its development of new games. It’s a potentially significant move for the company, which hasn’t strayed far from its formula of television series and films.
","source":"lsy1608616134662","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The drug maker also said it's developing a booster specifically targeting delta, which is now thought to be the dominant strain of the virus in the U.S.\nHealth officials and medical experts, on the other hand, continue to say there is no scientific case for COVID-19 boosters right now.\n\"I think people are hesitant to support booster dosing because at least for now it's unnecessary,\" Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, told MarketWatch in an email.\nDr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, on Sunday told CNN on Thursday saying something similar.\nAnd, in an email sent Friday afternoon and viewed by MarketWatch, National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins told staff that \"Pfizer seems to have gotten way out over their skis here,\" indicating that the company may be getting ahead of itself when it comes to boosters.\nBut if the science evolves and it indicates that boosters are needed, that's going to present a new set of communication challenges for the Biden administration.\n\"It's distracting if people are getting an impression from statements from companies that they need\" to get a booster, said Dr. Lynn Goldman, an epidemiologist and dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. \"We're still trying to get people to immunize in the first place.\"\nThe vaccination rate in the U.S. has flatlined at 48% . Telling people they need to get a third shot down line could lead to confusion, frustration, or an even more firm \"no\" from the hesitant.\n\"When you have so many Americans that are hesitant to get vaccinated, articulating to them that, 'Hey, the initial vaccines aren't going to be enough forever, and you're going to have to do this on a regular occurrence,' could make them more skeptical of the vaccines and less willing to get vaccinated initially,\" said Chris Meekins, a health policy analyst at Raymond James.\nThe case for boosters is complicated\nMany public-health experts have said they expect booster doses will be necessary as immunity wanes and new variants emerge. However, much of that need is going to be based on when protection begins to diminish and in whom.\nSome experts believe booster shots will only be recommended for certain vulnerable segments of the population, like the elderly or people who are immunocompromised, and not for generally healthy Americans who want to reinforce the level of protection they already have. An influential CDC committee is expected to meet July 22 to discuss whether immunocompromised people need a booster shot.\n\"We believe the likely upcoming spike in cases and deaths may tip the balance\" in favor of boosters, RBC Capital Markets analyst Brian Abrahams told investors this week. \"Should a targeted booster approach be taken, we believe this provides evidence that immunosuppressed individuals and those with co-morbidities should be among the first dosed.\"\nThis discussion is already playing out in other countries.\nA group of French doctors published a letter , outlining who can get a third shot depending on age, health status, and profession. Israel is now offering third doses to the immunocompromised.\nIn the U.S., vaccine makers face a specific set of obstacles. One has to do with ensuring supply at a time when the authorized vaccines developed by Johnson & Johnson $(JNJ)$, Moderna $(MRNA)$, and Pfizer are still bound by the requirements of the Defense Production Act, which can require companies based here to give priority to the U.S. during the public-health emergency.\n\"It looks like the pharmaceutical company is at odds with our federal health officials,\" said Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency room physician, \"when, actually, this is a matter of the pharmaceutical companies wanting to be prepared, wanting to have the boosters available, if and when they're needed.\"\nModerna is studying booster doses, too. It announced a new deal in June with the U.S. for 200 million doses, \"which could be used for primary vaccination, including of children, or possibly as a booster if that becomes necessary to continue to defeat the pandemic,\" Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said in a news release. The company has signed agreements that could include booster shots with Argentina, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland.\nPfizer has not announced any deals that include boosters with the U.S.\n\"I think the company believes that it can garner public opinion to support a booster over people's fear of the most recent delta variant and are capitalizing on that opportunity to try to force the government in the direction they want it to go,\" Meekins said.\nHow long does immunity from vaccines last?\nIn a nutshell: We don't know. There are a still a number of unanswered questions about the \"durability\" of immunity.\nThese include: What is the level of neutralizing antibody titers that still provide protection? Will T-cell response provide immunity if antibodies wane? When will we have a test that assesses antibody levels? When will the FDA establish a \"correlate\" of protection? Will only the most vulnerable people need a boost?\nTo further complicate things, this is the first time we've had a vaccine for a coronavirus and the first time that mRNA shots have ever been deployed. Those factors create additional unknowns. And so without answers to some or all of these questions, we are largely stuck guessing.\n\"We basically are operating, in my view, in a fact-free zone,\" Goldman said. \"I don't think it at all irrational to get a EUA for boosters right now. I see the rationale. How we talk about it is a different issue.\"\nPfizer recently said that immunity provided by its COVID-19 vaccine can wane six to 12 months after full vaccination; other officials believe the length of immunity is close to the tail end of that estimate, including the FDA's Dr. Peter Marks, who suggested in May that it's closer to at least one year of protection.\n\"It's very unlikely that immunity is just going to fall off a cliff at some point,\" Wen said. \"More likely, you're going to see a gradual waning over time...And so I think that is part of the difficulty in translating these complicated messages to sound bites for the general public.\"\nSee now:WHO head slams countries for ordering millions of COVID booster shots, when much of the world has not even vaccinated the most vulnerable","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":295,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179209144,"gmtCreate":1626527261088,"gmtModify":1703761468662,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3572785254205295","idStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy the dip!","listText":"Buy the dip!","text":"Buy the dip!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/179209144","repostId":"1198202103","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1198202103","pubTimestamp":1626481985,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1198202103?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-17 08:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow drops nearly 300 points on Friday, snaps 3-week winning streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1198202103","media":"CNBC","summary":"U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as ","content":"
\n
U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as inflation fears overshadowed strong retail sales numbers and better-than-expected earnings reports.\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The S&P 500 dipped 0.75% to 4,327.16 and the Nasdaq Composite shed 0.8% to 14,427.24.\nThe three averages closed the week lower to each snap 3-week win streaks. The Dow ended the week down 0.52%, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.97% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.87% during the same period.\n\nA U.S.consumer sentimentindex from the University of Michigan came in at 80.8 for the first half of July, down from 85.5 last month and worse than estimates from economists, who projected an increase. The report released Friday showed inflation expectations rising, with consumers believing prices will increase 4.8% in the next year, the highest level since August 2008.\nThe Dow gave up its gains early Friday shortly after the University of Michigan report came out 30 minutes into the session. Losses increased as the day went on with major averages closing at the lows of the session.\nThe consumer sentiment weakness “is at face value hard to square with the acceleration in employment growth and the continued resilience of the stock market,” said Andrew Hunter, senior U.S. economist at Capital Economics, but the report “suggested that concerns over surging inflation are now outweighing those positive trends.”\nInflation fears\nThe market was held back all week by inflation fears although the S&P 500 and Dow did touch new all-time highs briefly. On Tuesday, theconsumer price indexshowed a 5.4% increase in June from a year ago, the fastest pace in nearly 13 years.\nStocks got off to a good start Friday with the Dow rising more than 100 points to above 35,000 shortly after the open.Data released before the bell showed retail and food service salesrose 0.6% in June, while economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected a 0.4% decline. If that level held, it would have been the Dow’s first close ever above 35,000.\nDespite the week’s losses, the Dow is still up 13% for the year and sits just 1.15% from an all-time high. The S&P 500 is up 15% on the year and is 1.51% below its record level.\n“The market looks broadly fairly valued to me, with most stocks priced to provide a market rate of return plus or minus a few percent,” Bill Miller, chairman and chief investment officer of Miller Value Partners, said in an investor letter.\n“There are pockets of what look like appreciable over-valuation and pockets of significant undervaluation in the US market, in my opinion. We can find plenty of names to fill our portfolios and so remain fully invested,” the value investor added.\nEnergy correction\nEnergy stocks, the hottest part of the market in 2021, fell into correction territory on Friday as oil prices pulled back from their highs.\nThe Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund fell more than 2% on Friday, the worst of any group, dropping 14% from its high. Still, the sector is up about 28% in 2021, making it the top performer of any of the 11 main industry groups.\nWeaker performance from technology stocks also weighed on the market Friday. Shares of Apple closed 1.4% lower afternotching a record closejust two days prior. Netflix shares fell ahead of the streaming giant’s second-quarter earnings report next week.\nInvestors digested strong earnings results from the first major week of second-quarter reports. Though some of the nation’s largest companies posted healthy earnings and revenues amid the economic recovery, the reaction in the stock market has so far been muted.\nThe Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ended the week 1.5% lower despite big profit growth numbers posted by the likes of JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.\n“Good earnings might have become an excuse for some investors to take profit. And with earnings expectations so high in general, it takes a really big beat for a company to impress,” JJ Kinahan, TD Ameritrade chief market strategist, said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":329,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179200850,"gmtCreate":1626527180870,"gmtModify":1703761466070,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3572785254205295","idStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"To the moon!","listText":"To the moon!","text":"To the moon!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/179200850","repostId":"2152168594","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":381,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":147320439,"gmtCreate":1626336289021,"gmtModify":1703758133101,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3572785254205295","idStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"How are the taxes on dividend income handled with tiger brokers?","listText":"How are the taxes on dividend income handled with tiger brokers?","text":"How are the taxes on dividend income handled with tiger brokers?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/147320439","repostId":"2151751740","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2151751740","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1626280020,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2151751740?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-15 00:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"19 dividend stocks to help you combat inflation","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2151751740","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"These stocks have dividend yields that are at least three times as high as the yields on 10-year U.S","content":"
\n These stocks have dividend yields that are at least three times as high as the yields on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes.\n
\n
How can you avoid inflation, or at least make up for it?
\n
Consumers and investors may be alarmed by rising prices. But a combination of prudent spending and investing can help these overlapping groups of people get through a period of uncertainty brought about by pent-up demand and supply shortages.
\n
Below are two lists of 19 dividend stocks with attractive yields -- companies that are expected to have plenty of cash flow to cover dividend increases or other actions that may be good for shareholders, including stock repurchases and business expansion.
\n
The consumer price index rose by 0.9% in only one month . It's easy to say that you shouldn't buy a car or truck this year. The incredible demand for used vehicles has led to a shortage for many of the most popular new ones, which means dealers will be less likely to haggle.
\n
Of course you might be in a pickle and need to get another car or truck at the worst time, but maybe you can make a modest selection this time. You might also delay a plan to sell your home and move into a bigger one, considering that every other national housing boom you have ever witnessed has eventually cooled. In other words, it is possible some of your big spending plans can be curbed or delayed.
\n
Two dividend stock screens
\n
What do you want from a dividend stock? The most obvious answer is \"income,\" but what may be more important is that the dividend increases over time. That's how you stay ahead of inflation. Even when official inflation figures are low, your personal inflation can be considerable, depending on your circumstances. Or you may need investment income to replace part of your working income when you retire.
\n
Here's a recent list of the 30 stocks in the S&P 500 index whose dividends increased the most over the past five years . Their dividend yields may not have been very high to begin with, but if you had held them for five years, the yields on your five-year-old shares would have grown significantly.
\n
For this new screen, we took a different approach to focus more on higher current dividend yields. Beginning with the S&P Composite 1500 Index (made up of the S&P 500 , the S&P Mid Cap 400 Index $(MID)$ and the S&P Small Cap 600 Index ), we started with stocks with dividend yields of at least 4.26% -- three times the 1.42% yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes on July 13.
\n
Then we looked at free cash flow yields. A company's free cash flow is its remaining cash flow after planned capital expenditures. It can be used to increase dividends, buy back stock, pay down debt, business expansion or fund acquisitions. A free cash flow yield that is higher than the dividend yield can provide investors with some comfort that a company is unlikely to cut its dividend and maybe be in a position to increase it.
\n
A trailing free cash flow yield can be calculated by dividing the past four quarters' free cash flow per share by the current share price. If available, consensus estimates for the next 12 months can be used to calculate a forward FCF yield. If the FCF yield is above the current dividend yield, there is free cash flow \"headroom.\" (The screen below only includes companies for which forward FCF estimates were available from FactSet.)
\n
Financial companies were excluded from the screen, as FCF yield analysis isn't appropriate for the group. Companies with fewer than five analysts polled for FactSet's estimates were also excluded. For real estate investment trusts, funds from operations (FFO) is the industry standard for gauging dividend-paying ability. So there is a separate screen for that group below.
\n
Starting with the S&P Composite 1500, here are the eight stocks that made the cut, with dividend yields of at least 4.26%, positive forward and trailing FCF \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet. The list is sorted by dividend yield:
\n
\n
\n
\n
Company
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FCF yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FCF yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Williams Cos.
Tesla delivered about 500,000 cars in 2020.\nGreen Tidal Wave\nIves has also written about a “green tidal wave” coming from the White House. President Joe Biden wants part of any infrastructure bill to include purchase incentives for EVs as well as charging infrastructure. A bill isn’t ready, but progress was made in Washington this week.\nMusk Tweeting, Again\nNo search for the reason behind moves in Tesla stock would be complete without looking at CEO Elon Musk ‘s Twitter (TWTR) feed. He tweeted Friday that the updated full self-driving, or FSD, software and subscription pricing could roll out in as soon as a week.\nTesla plans to offer its highest level of driver assistance, called full self-driving or FSD, on a subscription basis. It’s a new era for car companies, which don’t typically get to realize recurring revenue like software providers. Bulls have been waiting quite some time for the FSD subscription to arrive.\nWhat’s Next\nNext up for Tesla investors, after any FSD release, will be second-quarter delivery numbers and then earnings. Those data points come in July.\nYear to date, Tesla stock is still down about 4.8%, trailing behind comparable gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":95,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":179200850,"gmtCreate":1626527180870,"gmtModify":1703761466070,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"To the moon!","listText":"To the moon!","text":"To the moon!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/179200850","repostId":"2152168594","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2152168594","pubTimestamp":1626488760,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2152168594?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-17 10:26","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Apple Stock: Next Stop, $175?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2152168594","media":"TipRanks","summary":"So, Apple is having a bad year, you say? With shares hitting an all-time high this week and the gap in performance narrowing over the past month, that conversation can now be put to rest. The uptick has coincided with reports Apple has boosted the production rate of its iPhones, instructing manufacturers to build 90 million iPhones this year, a 20% increase on the 75 million units it produced last year. The renewed optimism in all things Apple is not surprising to J.P. Not long ago, the talk on Wall Street was all about the tech giant’s uncharacteristically underperforming stock, especially when compared to some of the other mega-caps’ displays in 2021.\nWith shares hitting an all-time high this week and the gap in performance narrowing over the past month, that conversation can now be put to rest.\nThe uptick has coincided with reports Apple has boosted the production rate of its iPhones, instructing manufacturers to build 90 million iPhones this year, a 20% increase on the 75 million units it produced last year.\nThe renewed optimism in all things Apple is not surprising to J.P. Morgan’s Samik Chatterjee. The analyst recently told investors Apple is well set up to outperform in 2H21. In fact, the growing confidence means Chatterjee has added Apple to the firm’s Analyst Focus List as “a Growth idea.”\n“The recent momentum led by better market share, drives us to also estimate higher sustainable volumes in future quarters, leading us to see a path to Apple outperforming investor expectations over a longer time horizon rather than just the upcoming earnings print,” the 5-star analyst said, confirming Apple is also a Top Pick.\nTo reflect the increase in build rates, Chatterjee has “modestly” increased iPhone volume expectations, but of more importance to the analyst is the “path to upside” for the shares in the medium-term.\nThis is because of the potential for better iPhone 12 sales but also due to what Chatterjee considers are low expectations from the iPhone 13’s fall launch, which could create “another leg to the upside opportunity.”\nIt’s a potent mix which is given additional allure with the launch of the iPhone SE3 next year and means Apple can “not only pleasantly surprise with a more robust iPhone 13 cycle, but also has the opportunity to drive material upside to consensus expectations for FY22.”\nTo this end, Chatterjee rates Apple shares an Overweight (i.e. Buy), while slightly lifting the price target from $170 to $175. The revised figure implying shares will add 19.5% from current levels.\nSo, that’s J.P. Morgan’s view, what does the rest of the Street have in mind for Apple? Based on 20 Buys, 5 Holds and 2 Sells, the stock currently has a Moderate Buy consensus rating. The forecast is for shares to appreciate by 8% over the coming months, given the average price target clocks in at $158.62.\nTo find good ideas for tech stocks trading at attractive valuations, visit TipRanks’ Best Stocks to Buy, a newly launched tool that unites all of TipRanks’ equity insights.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":381,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179209144,"gmtCreate":1626527261088,"gmtModify":1703761468662,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy the dip!","listText":"Buy the dip!","text":"Buy the dip!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/179209144","repostId":"1198202103","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1198202103","pubTimestamp":1626481985,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1198202103?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-17 08:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow drops nearly 300 points on Friday, snaps 3-week winning streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1198202103","media":"CNBC","summary":"U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as ","content":"
\n
U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as inflation fears overshadowed strong retail sales numbers and better-than-expected earnings reports.\n...
And with earnings expectations so high in general, it takes a really big beat for a company to impress,” JJ Kinahan, TD Ameritrade chief market strategist, said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":329,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":125221349,"gmtCreate":1624676137781,"gmtModify":1703843403423,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Love Tesla!","listText":"Love Tesla!","text":"Love Tesla!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/125221349","repostId":"1100072036","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1100072036","pubTimestamp":1624669285,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1100072036?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-26 09:01","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Stock Has Been on Fire This Week. Shares have jumped almost 8% for the week and are on pace for their best week since April.
\n
Investors, rightly so, are wondering what’s going on. We found four reasons, outlined below.
\n
Taking Cues From China
\n
Many electric-vehicle stocks have been on a winning streak lately, beyond just Tesla. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.
\n
Tesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.
\n
Delivery Optimism
\n
The second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after perceived weakness in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several reports have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.
\n
“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst Dan Ivestells Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. Tesla delivered about 500,000 cars in 2020.
\n
Green Tidal Wave
\n
Ives has also written about a “green tidal wave” coming from the White House. President Joe Biden wants part of any infrastructure bill to include purchase incentives for EVs as well as charging infrastructure. A bill isn’t ready, but progress was made in Washington this week.
\n
Musk Tweeting, Again
\n
No search for the reason behind moves in Tesla stock would be complete without looking at CEO Elon Musk ‘s Twitter (TWTR) feed. He tweeted Friday that the updated full self-driving, or FSD, software and subscription pricing could roll out in as soon as a week.
\n
Tesla plans to offer its highest level of driver assistance, called full self-driving or FSD, on a subscription basis. Shares have jumped almost 8% for the week and are on pace for their best week since April.\nInvestors, rightly so, are wondering what’s going on. We found four reasons, outlined below.\nTaking Cues From China\nMany electric-vehicle stocks have been on a winning streak lately, beyond just Tesla. Coming into the week, shares of Chinese EV maker NIO(NIO) were up 17% for the month.XPeng(XPEV) and Li Auto(LI) had gained 31% and 36%, respectively.\nTesla, on the other hand, was down for the month of June coming into this week. But China is the world’s largest market for EVs, so when things are going well there, it bodes well for Tesla. It looks like some of the Chinese EV maker stocks’ shine has finally rubbed off on Tesla.\nDelivery Optimism\nThe second reason is about second-quarter deliveries, after perceived weakness in Chinese delivery numbers. More recently, however, several reports have been popping up about Tesla working hard to deliver vehicles into the end of this month.\n“After a disaster start to the quarter for Tesla in China, the Street is reading the tea leaves as bullish for the month of June with momentum into [the second half],” Wedbush analyst Dan Ivestells Barron’s. He believes 900,000 deliveries is still possible for 2021. Wall Street is modeling about 825,000. Those data points come in July.\nYear to date, Tesla stock is still down about 4.8%, trailing behind comparable gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":391,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":176021480,"gmtCreate":1626847335240,"gmtModify":1703479215908,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"This is great news","listText":"This is great news","text":"This is great news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/176021480","repostId":"1196827638","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":240,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":173089819,"gmtCreate":1626585695831,"gmtModify":1703762080224,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Trust in Fauzi","listText":"Trust in Fauzi","text":"Trust in Fauzi","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/173089819","repostId":"2152811496","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":295,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":800623804,"gmtCreate":1627299466508,"gmtModify":1703487060907,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great advice!","listText":"Great advice!","text":"Great advice!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/800623804","repostId":"2154454934","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2154454934","pubTimestamp":1627293006,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2154454934?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-26 17:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Worried About a Stock Market Crash? 4 Ways to Be Ready","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2154454934","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"There's little you can do to avoid the market's next crash, but there's plenty you can do to prepare for it.","content":"
Given worries of a resurging COVID-19 threat, rising inflation, and stretched valuations have combined to make investors nervous about the stock market. Their history provides a great guide on how to not just survive the next one but also thrive when it comes time to emerge from the other side of it. The key is to get prepared before the crash so that when it comes, you have the tools you need already available to you. Still, by making sure you have cash available before the next crash, you set yourself up to be much better situated after the crash happens.
\n
There are a couple of key reasons for this. First, stock market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand with each other. If you lose your job after the market crashes, having a cash reserve can go a long way toward keeping you from having to sell near market lows.
\n
Second, if you have cash available, buying stocks after they've crashed is a great way to make your money work harder for you. Selling one cheap stock after a crash to buy another doesn't make all that much sense, but raising cash when stocks are pricy to invest when they're cheap can be a much smarter wealth building strategy.
\n
The key trade-off, of course, is that money you have set aside in cash isn't earning much in the way of a return at the moment, especially when compared to inflation. A good rule of thumb is that you need at least a 3-6 month emergency fund in cash. In addition, having around 5 or so years' worth of expenses you need your portfolio to cover in a less volatile and higher certainty investment than stocks can help you ride out typical downturns.
\n
No. 2: Know the value of what you own
\n
Ultimately, a share of stock is nothing more than a fractional ownership stake in a business. A reasonable value can be estimated for most companies by using techniques like the discounted cash flow model to assess the current value of its expected future earnings stream. In a rapidly rising market, relying on valuations can seem old school, but when the market is crashing, valuation plays a much bigger role.
\n
A key reason is this: if you can buy a company for a reasonable or even cheap price based on its ability to generate cold hard cash, why would you sell just because the market is panicking? Indeed, a discounted cash flow analysis or other fundamentals-based valuation technique can help the savviest investors know why it's OK to buy more shares even as the market is collapsing.
\n
Beyond that, understanding what a company is really worth can help you prepare for a crash. If a stock you own has risen to the point where there is absolutely no financial justification for its market price, it might be a good candidate to sell to raise the cash you need.
\n
No. 3: Have a shopping list of companies you want to buy
\n
Even the best investors can feel overwhelmed as the market moves swiftly and strongly against them. That's where having a plan for what you'd like to buy -- and at what price -- can come in handy. With a list of great companies and a reasonable valuation estimate for each of them, a market crash can turn into an incredible buying opportunity to buy their stocks while they're on sale.
\n
Of course, you do need to keep in mind that the market often has a good reason for crashing in the first place. As a result, when the market offers you what looks like a great price to buy a company you're interested in owning, do take a moment to refresh your estimate of the company's value before buying. If the company's shares tanked because its business is failing, it's probably not worth owning. If its stock was unfairly discarded in a general market panic, however, it could be a great time to buy in big.
\n
No. 4: Keep smartly diversified
\n
Often, when the overall market crashes, it's because an entire industry finds itself in trouble. For instance, consider the dot.com implosion in 2000 or the financial crisis in 2008. If a big chunk of your money is chasing the next hot thing and that particular thing is what drives the next market crash, then you can be in a world of hurt. If the companies you own wind up out of business, then their shares -- and the money you have invested in them -- won't be participating in any rally that follows.
\n
When times are good, portfolio diversification may seem like a fairly meaningless exercise. After all, it can't help you earn better returns in a raging bull market. When the market is in a panic, however, there is incredible value in its ability to limit the impact that any one company or industry's failing will have on your overall net worth. After all, limiting the unrecoverable damage of a crash is key to being able to participate in any subsequent recovery.
\n
You can make it through the next crash
\n
Stock market crashes are inevitable. There's not much you can do to avoid them aside from not investing at all, and that can be incredibly hazardous to your long term net worth. With these four approaches, you can improve your odds of making it through the next crash intact and potentially even emerging in a better position once it ends.
\n
The key thing to note about these techniques, though, is that they work better if you get them in place before the next crash happens. So if you're really worried about a market crash, then there's no better than when the market is near an all-time high to get your plans in place.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Worried About a Stock Market Crash? 4 Ways to Be Ready
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWorried About a Stock Market Crash? 4 Ways to Be Ready\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-26 17:50 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Given worries of a resurging COVID-19 threat, rising inflation, and stretched valuations have combined to make investors nervous about the stock market. So if you're really worried about a market crash, then there's no better than when the market is near an all-time high to get your plans in place.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":290,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":143716081,"gmtCreate":1625817769043,"gmtModify":1703749143630,"author":{"id":"3572785254205295","authorId":"3572785254205295","name":"SidneyYee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/265c089d41e4955b702b04997fe8a924","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572785254205295","authorIdStr":"3572785254205295"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hope to build positions in outstanding Chinese companies during this time of uncertainty!","listText":"Hope to build positions in outstanding Chinese companies during this time of uncertainty!","text":"Hope to build positions in outstanding Chinese companies during this time of uncertainty!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/143716081","repostId":"2150537804","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2150537804","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1625817316,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2150537804?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-09 15:55","market":"sh","language":"en","title":"China stocks slip after inflation data","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2150537804","media":"Reuters","summary":"Shanghai, July 9 (Reuters) - China stocks edged lower on Friday after data showed the country's annu","content":"
Shanghai, July 9 (Reuters) - China stocks edged lower on Friday after data showed the country's annual factory gate inflation remained uncomfortably high and underlined growing strains on the economy.
\n
Major indexes barely moved for the week as Beijing's surprise hint at monetary easing earlier this week failed to provide support and raised worries over the country's economic recovery.
\n
** The blue-chip CSI300 index fell 0.4% to 5,069.44, while the Shanghai Composite Index ended flat at 3,524.09.
\n
** The CSI300 shed 0.2% for the week, while SSEC gained 0.2%.
\n
** China's factory gate inflation eased in June, but the annual rate stayed high.
It’s a new era for car companies, which don’t typically get to realize recurring revenue like software providers. Bulls have been waiting quite some time for the FSD subscription to arrive.
\n
What’s Next
\n
Next up for Tesla investors, after any FSD release, will be second-quarter delivery numbers and then earnings. Those data points come in July.
\n
Year to date, Tesla stock is still down about 4.8%, trailing behind comparable gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Stock Has Been on Fire This Week.
Ordinarily that would appear to be plenty of headroom to support the dividend. But it implies a payout ratio of 62%, which is much higher than the ratio of the current yield to the forward FCF yield.
\n
REITs
\n
For a second screen of real estate investment trusts, we used funds from operations (FFO) instead of free cash flow. FFO adds depreciation on real estate to earnings and nets out gains or losses on the sale of property. Here are the 10 highest-yielding REITs in the S&P Composite 1500 with positive forward and trailing FFO \"headroom\" and no dividend cuts over the past three years, according to data provided by FactSet:
\n
\n
\n
\n
REIT
\n
Dividend yield
\n
Forward FFO yield
\n
Forward \"headroom\"
\n
Trailing FFO yield
\n
Trailing \"headroom\"
\n
\n
\n
Omega Healthcare Investors Inc.
