In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.
\n
To begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:
\n
Source: FactSet
\n
ETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.
\n
Here’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:
\n
Source: FactSet
\n
The ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.
\n
Another holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.
\n
As part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:
\n
“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”
\n
Cloud-stock screen
\n
Together, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.\nTo begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:\nSource: FactSet\nETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.\nHere’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:\nSource: FactSet\nThe ETFs’ approaches differ. However, it again posted a net loss. This time that net loss hit $295 million.
\n
Simply because Coupang continues to record net losses it will continue to trade sideways. As many have noted, once it records a net gain there should be a spike in prices.
\n
That simply hasn’t happened yet, but those revenues are growing rapidly. The net-add forecast for the March quarter is down from the 15.8 million spike in subscribers driven by Covid-19 in the year-ago first quarter.
\n
The company expects operating margin in the March quarter to jump to 25%, from 16.6% a year ago and 14.4% in the fourth quarter.
\n
Last quarter,Netflix surprised Wall Street with the news that it now expects to be cash flow break-even or better moving forward—and that it has begun considering stock buybacks. Netflix had $1.9 billion in positive free cash flow in 2020, thanks to lower production costs as a result of the pandemic, compared with a $3.3 billion cash flow loss in 2019. For 2021, Netflix expects to break even on a cash flow basis. Fourth-quarter cash flow was negative $138 million.
\n
Netflix also said that with $8.2 billion in cash and an untouched $750 million credit facility, “we believe we no longer have a need to raise external financing for our day-to-day operations.” In addition, the streaming giant said it had about $16 billion in debt overall and expects to maintain $10 billion to $15 billion in gross debt over time. Netflix said it would “explore returning cash to shareholders through ongoing stock buybacks,” something it hasn’t done since 2011.
\n
The stock shot higher on that news, but has since eased back, as attention turns to the potential for slowing near-term subscriber growth. Analyst sentiment heading into earnings is mixed.
\n
Piper Sandler analyst Thomas Champion, who has an Overweight rating and $605 target price on Netflix, is bullish on the stock heading into the report. While noting that the company was a beneficiary of the pandemic, he thinks Netflix will benefit from a combination of “a strong consumer” as the economy reopens, a clamp-down on password sharing, and “a pandemic tailwind that may remain in Europe.” Champion notes that a recent Piper survey of teens found that they allocate 32% of video consumption to Netflix, versus 8% for Hulu, the second-most popular subscription video service.
\n
UBS analyst John Hodulik notes that investors have become increasingly focused on how summer seasonality might manifest this year, given a reopening economy and the potential for added churn from higher subscription prices in some markets. The stock could remain volatile in the short-to-medium term, he warns. But the analyst “continues to view Netflix as the long-term winner within streaming media and remains constructive on the fundamentals.” He keeps a Buy rating and $650 target price on Netflix shares.
\n
Raymond James analyst Andrew Marok, who has a Market Perform rating on Netflix shares, remains cautious on the stock for now. Marok continues to view Netflix as a “long-term winner in the video-on-demand space,” he writes. He does see some near-terms risks, however: the pace of subscriber additions post-pandemic, the impact of the pandemic on 2021 content releases, and scaling competition from cheaper competitive subscription services.
\n
For Netflix’s June quarter, Wall Street consensus calls for revenue of $7.4 billion, earnings of $2.69 a share, and 4.4 million net subscriber additions.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Netflix Reports Earnings Tuesday. Sales spiked 75% from the corresponding period of 2020, when the country’s vehicle demand was badly hit by coronavirus woes.

Digging Into Sales Numbers

For the first quarter of 2021, sales surged 76% year over year to top 6.48 million units. The massive jump was due to lower severity of COVID-19 impacts, which crimped showroom traffic in the comparable year-ago quarter.

In fact, automakers in China suffered their bleakest ever quarter in the January-March 2020 period. However, thanks to supportive government policies, gradual reopening of economic activities and pent-up vehicle demand, China is now at the forefront of global auto market recovery.

Deliveries of new light vehicles including sport utility vehicles, sedans and multi-purpose vehicles grew 77% to exceed 1.87 million units in March 2021. Deliveries of commercial vehicles including pickups and buses rose 68% year over year to 651,000 units. Electric vehicle sales jumped a whopping 240% year over year to 226,000 units.

New light vehicle deliveries in first-quarter 2021 climbed 75% from the comparable year-ago period to 5.08 million units. Sales of commercial vehicles and EVs spiked 77% and 280% to 1.41 million units and 515,000 units, respectively, on a year-over-year basis.

China EV Market on Fire, Competition Revs Up

Demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) has been on the rise amid climate change concerns and favorable government policies. Importantly, the country projects electric vehicles (EVs) to account for 25% of new car sales by 2025.

Last April, the government of China announced plans to extend subsidies and tax breaks for NEVs such as electric or plug-in hybrid cars for another two years to spur sales. Buoyed by favorable government policies and improving consumer confidence and economy, China — world’s largest EV market — is seeing solid sales of zero-emission vehicles.

China-based EV makers includingBYD Co,NIO,Li AutoandXPengregistered strong EV sales last month. Warren Buffett-backed BYD sold 24,218 EVs in March, representing a year-over-year jump of 97.6%.

NIO — which currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) — delivered 7,257 EVs last month, skyrocketing 373% year over year. EV makers Li Auto and XPeng delivered 4,900 and 5,102 vehicles, up a whopping 238.6% and 384%, respectively, on a year-over-year basis. You can seethe complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Foreign carmakers includingTesla,GMandFordare also registering strong sales and actively ramping up operations in the country. Per China Passenger Car Association, EV behemoth Tesla sold 35,478 China-made cars last month. The company commands a huge market share in the EV market of China, thanks to robust production from the Shanghai Gigafactory.

Overall vehicle sales by Ford and General Motors in China witnessed a year-over-year rally of 73% and 69%, respectively, for first-quarter 2021. General Motors is speeding up the development of advanced technologies in China to enable an all-electric future.

The company’s next-generation EVs (across all brands) in China will be powered by Ultium Drive. It should be noted that the Cadillac LYRIQ SUV would be the first Ultium-powered vehicle to be rolled out in China at Auto Shanghai 2021 later this month.

Importantly, Sales of Hong Guang mini-EV — under General Motors’ Wuling brand — exceeded 72,000 units in first-quarter 2021, retaining its position as the best-selling green vehicle in the country. Meanwhile, Ford is set to manufacture its electric Mustang Mach-E in China with its joint venture Changan Ford.

Amid soaring demand, competition is heating up in the China EV market. Even with the subsidies ending in 2022, the e-mobility battle in China is getting fiercer by the day with new upstarts, legacy automakers and tech titans foraying into the space.

A few days back, China’s leading smartphone maker Xiaomi announced that it is set to invest $10 billion in the development of EVs over the next 10 years. The company intends to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary with an initial investment of around $1.5 billion.

Ride-hailing platform Didi Chuxing has also launched an EV unit and collaborated with BYD to develop EVs designed for its services. Telecom equipment giant Huawei Technology also aims to launch electric cars under its brand and may roll out a couple of models this year. Search engine behemoth Baidu also announced plans to launch an electric car business in January.

Chip Deficit to Play Spoilsport

While China’s vehicle sales have rebounded quite strongly, will the recovery sustain amid the global chip crunch? Well, CAAM has already warned that the chip shortage is set to adversely impact auto production in the nation in second-quarter 2021. The agency does not expect the shortfall to ease until the fourth quarter of this year.

Although China is the largest auto market, it depends heavily on chip imports and is the largest buyer of semiconductors. Amid the chip shortfall, carmakers are scrambling to procure semiconductors, which are forcing them to undergo production cuts and idle factories. NIO shuttered operations for five days beginning Mar 29 due to microchip shortfall. Volvo Cars, owned by Geely Holdings, also halted production last month. In the absence of a quick solution to this chip problem, auto industry recovery in China may soon be losing steam.

These Stocks Are Poised to Soar Past the Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak has shifted consumer behavior dramatically, and a handful of high-tech companies have stepped up to keep America running. Right now, investors in these companies have a shot at serious profits. For example, Zoom jumped 108.5% in less than 4 months while most other stocks were sinking.

Our research shows that 5 cutting-edge stocks could skyrocket from the exponential increase in demand for “stay at home” technologies. This could be one of the biggest buying opportunities of this decade, especially for those who get in early.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":137,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":347708912,"gmtCreate":1618529074836,"gmtModify":1704712167856,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Microvision(MVIS)$Waiting","listText":"$Microvision(MVIS)$Waiting","text":"$Microvision(MVIS)$Waiting","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f757fb8d2bc3662da6bee5b93ea6ed15","width":"1242","height":"2151"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/347708912","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":446,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3505893014711607","authorId":"3505893014711607","name":"Brian_007","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3505893014711607","authorIdStr":"3505893014711607"},"content":"If the company is acquired, will it be wound up according to the current shares? But the outline showcases how Biden is trying to bend the federal government toward a much greater role in the provision of health care and education.
\n
Combined with the $1.9 trillion pandemic-relief bill signed last month and a $2.25 trillion infrastructure-and-jobs proposal, the budget marks Biden’s third foray into using the power of the federal government to radically expand help for lower-income and middle-class Americans. A further social-spending package is also coming, all before Biden’s first 100 days have passed.
\n
Biden on Friday asked for a 15.9% jump in regular non-defense domestic spending for the fiscal year starting in October, with a more than 40% increase in education spending and a 23% jump for health. The overall budget request is an 8.4% boost from the current year, when excluding emergency spending for the pandemic.
\n
While there’s extra money for Internal Revenue Service enforcement, the plan doesn’t include the tax hikes on individuals that Biden is planning to unveil in coming weeks to help fund his broader expansion in fiscal spending.
\n
‘More Inclusive’
\n
There’s $14 billion extra to address climate change, $20 billion more for high-poverty schools and $6.5 billion for launching a new research agency to develop new treatments and cures for diseases -- along the lines of the Defense Department’s DARPA.
\n
“This moment of crisis is also a moment of possibility,” acting budget director Shalanda Young said in a message to lawmakers Friday. “Together, America has a chance not simply to go back to the way things were before the Covid-19 pandemic and economic downturn struck, but to begin building a better, stronger, more secure, more inclusive America.”
\n
The fiscal 2022 budget request comes on top of last week’s proposed eight-year infrastructure-led package, and a forthcoming, longer-term social-spending program expected to total around $1 trillion.
\n
Unlike those other proposals, the Democrats will need Republican votes in the Senate to pass the annual appropriations bills into which the budget is divided, according to the chamber’s rules. That means getting at least 10 GOP members aboard.
\n
Defense Spending
\n
Republican lawmakers are certain to take issue with many of Biden’s requests.
\n
The outline has $753 billion for defense programs in the upcoming fiscal year, which represents just a 1.7% increase -- significantly below the 4% to 5% bump advocated by GOP leaders, and a break with recent tradition of keeping defense and non-defense increases on the same scale.
\n
The White House argued that domestic investments have waned in recent years, and that Biden’s proposed boost on that side of the ledger would simply return the country’s non-defense spending to around the historic norm of 3.3% of gross domestic product.
\n
Biden includes no money for border-wall construction, canceling unspent funds from previous years, and has asked for $232 million more to study and investigate domestic terrorism in the wake of the insurrection by supporters of former President Donald Trump at the U.S. Capitol.
\n
No Caps
\n
The president’s 2022 request -- which involves just discretionary spending, and not entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security -- comes without the budget caps that have been in place for a decade. The expiration of those caps, agreed to between the Obama administration and congressional Republicans, has been described by White House officials as an opportunity to pursue investments in areas like education, clean energy and public health.
\n
“Over the past decade, due in large measure to overly restrictive budget caps, the nation significantly under-invested in core public services, benefits and protections,” Young said.
\n
And though presidential budgets are routinely ignored on Capitol Hill, administration officials are hopeful the top-line numbers can offer an early guidepost for fellow Democrats who narrowly control both chambers of Congress.
\n
Priorities identified by the administration include:
\n
\n
A $3.9 billion increase in funding to battle the opioid epidemic
\n
$232 million in new money for Department of Justice gun violence prevention programs
\n
More than $1.2 billion in new spending for aid to Central America, and asylum adjudication amid a surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.
\n
\n
Biden is asking Congress to spend $14 billion more on climate programs across the U.S. government, with some $10 billion targeted to clean energy innovation. Much of the funding would go to Energy Department initiatives, including the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Climate, with support for high-risk ventures that offer the potential for changes in the way electricity is generated and used.
\n
He envisions a $1.4 billion increase for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, enabling greater work on climate observations and forecasting, and $600 million to buy electric vehicles and equipment for federal agencies such as the U.S. Postal Service, which is in theprocess of turning over its fleet. Another $800 million would go toward making public and assisted housing more energy efficient.
\n
Biden also calls for an additional $1.2 billion for the Internal Revenue Service to boost oversight of corporations and wealthy taxpayers and improve IRS customer service. It also calls for amulti-year allocation of $417 million to fund audits, which the White House hopes will bring in more revenues from businesses and wealthy taxpayers.
\n
Amtrak Money
\n
The Commerce Department would see a 28% increase --including a doubling of funds for manufacturing-related programs under the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Amtrak -- long favored by Biden -- receives a 35% increase.
\n
Biden’s budget proposal arrives months later than the usual timeline, and it lacks many of the details -- including plans for raising revenues, economic assumptions and a 10-year outlook -- that ordinarily accompany funding requests.
\n
Appropriations for 2022 need to be enacted before Oct. 1 to avert a government shutdown.
","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.\nAnother holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.\nAs part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:\n“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology.
However, there’s little to suggest that CPNG stock can break out anytime soon.
\n
The first problem is profitability. So while I personally believe it is investment-worthy, share prices won’t explode overnight.
\n
There is plenty of time to establish a position in Coupang’s current price range.
\n
A cursory glance atCoupang’s Q1 results paints a similar picture to past earnings reports: A company that intrigues because it pulls in massive revenues, yet one that records net losses consistently.
\n
In the first quarter, Coupang managed to record $4.206 billion in revenues.
Net revenues increased 74%, from $2.413 billion to $4.206 billion between the first quarters of 2020 and 2021.
\n
That mix of positive and negative signals should keep prices from moving in the extreme in either direction. This is a continuation of the same story for the Korean e-tailer that has been dubbed the next Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN).
\n
And if you run the numbers, Coupang does resemble a scaled-down version of Amazon.
\n
A Closer Look at CPNG Stock
\n
Amazon recorded $108.5 billion in Q1 revenues while Coupang recorded $4.206 billion. Coupang is roughly 1/25th the size of Amazon by that metric. Coupang is 1/19 the customer base that Amazon does with 16.037 million customers. Amazon has 310 million.
\n
That means Amazon customers spent more – $350 versus $262 – per customer than Coupang’s did in Q1. Fortunately for Coupang, that figure is also growing rapidly. Revenue per customer increased 44% Q1 year-over-year.
\n
The thrust is clear: Amazon is much bigger, and if Coupang ever hopes to truly recreate the scale Amazon has achieved, it’ll do so outside of Korea.
\n
Coupang clearly believes that its domestic business in Korea is reaching a critical point.
\n
Founder Kim Bom Seok stepped down from the company’s board in June. He will no longer be involved in the company’s domestic operations in Korea. Instead, he is focusing on international expansion.
\n
Coupang has wasted little time in ramping up those efforts. It expanded into Japan in June and recently announced its expansion into Taiwan. The company is offering food, beverages, daily necessities and pet supplies in both markets currently.
\n
The company has also been undertaking hiring efforts within Singapore as well. It could announce that it has expanded there soon as well.
\n
It is clear that Coupang is entering a period of growth. But with that comes growing pains. The test isn’t a simple one. The factors that made it so successful domestically won’t necessarily translate in Japan, Taiwan, and wherever else it launches.
\n
Coupang Isn’t Amazon Yet
\n
Coupang has been followed by multiple issues which have plagued Amazon. Coupang is now facing public backlash over how it treats its workers, just as Amazon has. Working conditions and hiring practices have come under fire.
\n
More recently the Korea Fair Trade Commission carried out an investigation at company headquarters. However, there’s little to suggest that CPNG stock can break out anytime soon.\nThe first problem is profitability. So while I personally believe it is investment-worthy, share prices won’t explode overnight.\nThere is plenty of time to establish a position in Coupang’s current price range.\nA cursory glance atCoupang’s Q1 results paints a similar picture to past earnings reports: A company that intrigues because it pulls in massive revenues, yet one that records net losses consistently.\nIn the first quarter, Coupang managed to record $4.206 billion in revenues. However, it again posted a net loss. This time that net loss hit $295 million.\nSimply because Coupang continues to record net losses it will continue to trade sideways. As many have noted, once it records a net gain there should be a spike in prices.\nThat simply hasn’t happened yet, but those revenues are growing rapidly. Net revenues increased 74%, from $2.413 billion to $4.206 billion between the first quarters of 2020 and 2021.\nThat mix of positive and negative signals should keep prices from moving in the extreme in either direction. This is a continuation of the same story for the Korean e-tailer that has been dubbed the next Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN).\nAnd if you run the numbers, Coupang does resemble a scaled-down version of Amazon.\nA Closer Look at CPNG Stock\nAmazon recorded $108.5 billion in Q1 revenues while Coupang recorded $4.206 billion. Coupang is roughly 1/25th the size of Amazon by that metric. Coupang is 1/19 the customer base that Amazon does with 16.037 million customers. Amazon has 310 million.\nThat means Amazon customers spent more – $350 versus $262 – per customer than Coupang’s did in Q1. Fortunately for Coupang, that figure is also growing rapidly. Revenue per customer increased 44% Q1 year-over-year.\nThe thrust is clear: Amazon is much bigger, and if Coupang ever hopes to truly recreate the scale Amazon has achieved, it’ll do so outside of Korea.\nCoupang clearly believes that its domestic business in Korea is reaching a critical point.\nFounder Kim Bom Seok stepped down from the company’s board in June. He will no longer be involved in the company’s domestic operations in Korea. Instead, he is focusing on international expansion.\nCoupang has wasted little time in ramping up those efforts. It expanded into Japan in June and recently announced its expansion into Taiwan. The company is offering food, beverages, daily necessities and pet supplies in both markets currently.\nThe company has also been undertaking hiring efforts within Singapore as well. It could announce that it has expanded there soon as well.\nIt is clear that Coupang is entering a period of growth. But with that comes growing pains. The test isn’t a simple one. The factors that made it so successful domestically won’t necessarily translate in Japan, Taiwan, and wherever else it launches.\nCoupang Isn’t Amazon Yet\nCoupang has been followed by multiple issues which have plagued Amazon. Coupang is now facing public backlash over how it treats its workers, just as Amazon has. Working conditions and hiring practices have come under fire.\nMore recently the Korea Fair Trade Commission carried out an investigation at company headquarters. Coupang is under investigation for allegedly manipulating its algorithm to unfairly advantage its private-label products in search placements.\nAmazon has been accused of similar behavior in the past as well.\nUltimately Coupang should be able to navigate these issues. The real issue is going to be how it fares in its international expansion efforts. That will move the needle on CPNG stock in a significant way.\nIf and when Coupang posts a net gain it’ll be a new era for the Korean Amazon. For now, prices won’t move up or down much.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":268,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":346950230,"gmtCreate":1617982278520,"gmtModify":1704705676961,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks reshape pla","content":"
\n
White House releases outline of budget request for 2022
\n
Congress likely to significantly reshape plan in coming months
\n
\n
President Joe Biden proposed major boosts in funding to combat inequality, disease and climate change as part of a $1.52 trillion budget request for 2022, part of his wider push to redefine the role of government in American lives.
\n
The administration’s outline, released by the White House Friday, kicks off a months-long process in which Congress is likely to significantly reshape the priorities, given stiff Republican opposition to many of the proposals.
But the outline showcases how Biden is trying to bend the federal government toward a much greater role in the provision of health care and education.\nCombined with the $1.9 trillion pandemic-relief bill signed last month and a $2.25 trillion infrastructure-and-jobs proposal, the budget marks Biden’s third foray into using the power of the federal government to radically expand help for lower-income and middle-class Americans. A further social-spending package is also coming, all before Biden’s first 100 days have passed.\nBiden on Friday asked for a 15.9% jump in regular non-defense domestic spending for the fiscal year starting in October, with a more than 40% increase in education spending and a 23% jump for health. The overall budget request is an 8.4% boost from the current year, when excluding emergency spending for the pandemic.\nWhile there’s extra money for Internal Revenue Service enforcement, the plan doesn’t include the tax hikes on individuals that Biden is planning to unveil in coming weeks to help fund his broader expansion in fiscal spending.\n‘More Inclusive’\nThere’s $14 billion extra to address climate change, $20 billion more for high-poverty schools and $6.5 billion for launching a new research agency to develop new treatments and cures for diseases -- along the lines of the Defense Department’s DARPA.\n“This moment of crisis is also a moment of possibility,” acting budget director Shalanda Young said in a message to lawmakers Friday. “Together, America has a chance not simply to go back to the way things were before the Covid-19 pandemic and economic downturn struck, but to begin building a better, stronger, more secure, more inclusive America.”\nThe fiscal 2022 budget request comes on top of last week’s proposed eight-year infrastructure-led package, and a forthcoming, longer-term social-spending program expected to total around $1 trillion.\nUnlike those other proposals, the Democrats will need Republican votes in the Senate to pass the annual appropriations bills into which the budget is divided, according to the chamber’s rules. That means getting at least 10 GOP members aboard.\nDefense Spending\nRepublican lawmakers are certain to take issue with many of Biden’s requests.\nThe outline has $753 billion for defense programs in the upcoming fiscal year, which represents just a 1.7% increase -- significantly below the 4% to 5% bump advocated by GOP leaders, and a break with recent tradition of keeping defense and non-defense increases on the same scale.\nThe White House argued that domestic investments have waned in recent years, and that Biden’s proposed boost on that side of the ledger would simply return the country’s non-defense spending to around the historic norm of 3.3% of gross domestic product.\nBiden includes no money for border-wall construction, canceling unspent funds from previous years, and has asked for $232 million more to study and investigate domestic terrorism in the wake of the insurrection by supporters of former President Donald Trump at the U.S. Capitol.\nNo Caps\nThe president’s 2022 request -- which involves just discretionary spending, and not entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security -- comes without the budget caps that have been in place for a decade. The expiration of those caps, agreed to between the Obama administration and congressional Republicans, has been described by White House officials as an opportunity to pursue investments in areas like education, clean energy and public health.\n“Over the past decade, due in large measure to overly restrictive budget caps, the nation significantly under-invested in core public services, benefits and protections,” Young said.\nAnd though presidential budgets are routinely ignored on Capitol Hill, administration officials are hopeful the top-line numbers can offer an early guidepost for fellow Democrats who narrowly control both chambers of Congress.\nPriorities identified by the administration include:\n\nA $3.9 billion increase in funding to battle the opioid epidemic\n$232 million in new money for Department of Justice gun violence prevention programs\nMore than $1.2 billion in new spending for aid to Central America, and asylum adjudication amid a surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.\n\nBiden is asking Congress to spend $14 billion more on climate programs across the U.S. government, with some $10 billion targeted to clean energy innovation. Much of the funding would go to Energy Department initiatives, including the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Climate, with support for high-risk ventures that offer the potential for changes in the way electricity is generated and used.\nHe envisions a $1.4 billion increase for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, enabling greater work on climate observations and forecasting, and $600 million to buy electric vehicles and equipment for federal agencies such as the U.S. Postal Service, which is in theprocess of turning over its fleet. Another $800 million would go toward making public and assisted housing more energy efficient.\nBiden also calls for an additional $1.2 billion for the Internal Revenue Service to boost oversight of corporations and wealthy taxpayers and improve IRS customer service. It also calls for amulti-year allocation of $417 million to fund audits, which the White House hopes will bring in more revenues from businesses and wealthy taxpayers.\nAmtrak Money\nThe Commerce Department would see a 28% increase --including a doubling of funds for manufacturing-related programs under the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Amtrak -- long favored by Biden -- receives a 35% increase.\nBiden’s budget proposal arrives months later than the usual timeline, and it lacks many of the details -- including plans for raising revenues, economic assumptions and a 10-year outlook -- that ordinarily accompany funding requests.\nAppropriations for 2022 need to be enacted before Oct. 1 to avert a government shutdown.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":52,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":893629327,"gmtCreate":1628260238169,"gmtModify":1703504193332,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"to the moon ","listText":"to the moon ","text":"to the moon","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/365406c3f2bffe6d9b3a87c6a02bfb4e","width":"1242","height":"2151"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/893629327","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":309,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":800721086,"gmtCreate":1627324765145,"gmtModify":1703487637503,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thoughts","listText":"Thoughts","text":"Thoughts","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/86f8a04f83621074e0fd5f270e56eede","width":"1125","height":"3395"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/800721086","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":132,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":379751205,"gmtCreate":1618797498407,"gmtModify":1704714975578,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thoughts ?","listText":"Thoughts ?","text":"Thoughts ?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/70eebdb1362fc31a5e2e6d5f338b7188","width":"1125","height":"3193"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/379751205","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":59,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":347704001,"gmtCreate":1618529280303,"gmtModify":1704712173835,"author":{"id":"3573548751418558","authorId":"3573548751418558","name":"Onlinesea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cd1f3090c7e97ee690e883f763666446","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573548751418558","authorIdStr":"3573548751418558"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Discount? XPEV.

Here are highlights from Monday’s Analyst Blog:Chinese Auto Sales on Fast Track - Will It Hit a Speed Bump?

Vehicle sales in China for the month of March soared for the 12th straight month to 2.53 million units, per the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (“CAAM”).
