That self-service approach has been key to Atlassian’s growth.</p><p>“We continue to evolve and get better at that model every year,” said co-founder and co-Chief Executive Officer Mike Cannon-Brookes. “The cloud is even better for that. We have a lot more expansion vectors.”</p><p>Atlassian appears to be persuading its customers to jump to the cloud. Sales grew 37% to $688 million in the three months through December, fueled by a 58% jump in cloud revenue, the Sydney-based company said in a statement Thursday. Sales may be as much as $705 million in the current quarter, the company said, exceeding Wall Street expectations.</p><p>The shares, which have more than tripled the past two years, jumped 9.7% to $319.17 Friday in New York, the best single-day gain in more than five weeks.</p><p>“There still is no other vendor that we can see that is really presenting itself as a viable competitor,” said Mizuho managing director Gregg Moskowitz.</p><p>But some hurdles remain. In February, the company is poised to raise prices for its service and data center products, which could spur a backlash from customers. Its code repository known as BitBucket is now under pressure after Microsoft Corp.’s 2018 purchase of GitHub. And as Atlassian continues to invest in its IT services product -- including past acquisitions of Mindville, Halp and OpsGenie -- the company is bound to butt heads with bigger competitors as it looks to expand its footprint within large corporations, a segment currently dominated by <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/NOW\">ServiceNow</a> Inc.</p><p>Most critically, however, are its ongoing efforts to transition customers from on-premises products to the cloud. Such a move would enable Atlassian to more easily pitch existing users other tools, as well as develop new products quicker -- both improvements that could ultimately help underscore higher sales growth.</p><p>Atlassian doesn’t disclose what percentage of its end users have made the jump. However, those that have finished the migrations so far are largely small-to-midsize businesses, according to Wells Fargo &amp; Co. analyst Michael Turrin. The real test comes as some of the company’s largest customers decide whether to also take the plunge. And that transition should soon accelerate.</p><p>“It’s very rare to run across a customer who does not understand that the cloud is their end destination,” Cannon-Brookes said. “We’ve given long timeline leads, notice periods, so I think they’re clear where we stand.”</p><p>Data center subscriptions, viewed as a stepping stone into the cloud, grew 83% to $139 million in the most recent quarter. And more than 98% of the 10,021 new customers Atlassian gained in those three months were for its cloud products.</p><p>Atlassian has been working to infuse important compliance protocols in its products to meet data regulations in countries like Germany and Australia, a step that is often a prerequisite for global businesses before adopting cloud-based products. In the three months through December, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>-third of the migrations were from data center products, the company said in a letter to shareholders.</p><p>That “tends to be the larger, more complex customers,” Cannon-Brookes said.</p><p>To help continue to spur those moves, Atlassian has offered customers a 40% price discount. That promotional offering will lower to 20% in June. It’s also raising the price on its products that still run on data centers or servers by as much as 25%, hikes that won’t affect Atlassian’s cloud customers.</p><p>“We’re not forcing them down any path,” Chief Revenue Officer Cameron Deatsch said on a conference call after the earnings were released. “It just comes down to timing, budget and prioritization of IT projects.”</p><p>Some users may be hesitant to make the move to the cloud. Server revenue in the most recent quarter was $135.5 million. While that is a 12% year-over-year drop and follows several quarters of similar declines, it shows that Atlassian’s on-premises products are still a draw to some customers.</p><p>However, Atlassian isn’t ending support for its server products until 2024. If you’ve seen the movie “Ready Player One,” you have a pretty good idea of what the metaverse is: Strap on a set of computerized glasses, and you’re transported into a digital universe where anything is possible.\nFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the most bullish on the concept,announcing his plans earlier this month to pivot Facebook from a social media company to a metaverse company in the coming years.\nIt’s less clear how tech companies can profit off the metaverse concept.\nZuckerberg, his executive team and Wall Street analysts spent a lot of time on the company’s earnings call on Wednesday discussing the metaverse, how much it’ll cost Facebook to build and how Facebook plans to profit from it.\nIn fact, “metaverse” was mentioned 20 times on the hour-long call. There were 28 mentions of advertising, Facebook’s core business that brought in more than $28 billion in revenue for the quarter.\nHere’s the business case Zuckerberg and his team made for Facebook’s investment in the metaverse:\nFacebook will sell the hardware, but that’s not where the real money comes from.Zuckerberg said on the earnings call that Facebook’s goal is to sell its headsets as cheaply as possible and focus on making money through commerce and advertising within the metaverse itself.\n“Our business model isn’t going to primarily be around trying to sell devices at a large premium or anything like that because our mission is around serving as many people as possible,” Zuckerberg said on the earnings call. “So we want to make everything that we do as affordable as possible, so as many people as possible can get into it and then compounds the size of the digital economy inside it.”\nFacebook already runs Oculus, the virtual reality division of the company. Today, Oculus’ VR headsets are relatively limited in what they can do. But Facebook’s hope is to improve the technology so the headsets look more like a pair of Warby Parker glasses instead of a clunky helmet. According to Zuckerberg, the metaverse will only work if the hardware can provide the user a true sense of presence in the digital world.\nAdvertising will still play a role, but Facebook will focus on the sale of virtual goods.Zuckerberg said advertising in the metaverse will be “an important part” of Facebook’s strategy to profit off the metaverse, but he sounded more bullish on commerce in the digital world.\nMany consider some of today’s video games like Microsoft’s Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite early versions of what a metaverse could be. Those free games make money by selling virtual goods to players. Zuckerberg hinted on the earnings call Facebook would copy that strategy to make money in its own metaverse, taking a slice of every transaction.\n“I think digital goods and creators are just going to be huge... in terms of people expressing themselves through their avatars, through digital clothing, through digital goods, the apps that they have, that they bring with them from place to place,” Zuckerberg said. “A lot of the metaverse experience is going to be around being able to teleport from one experience to another. So being able to basically have your digital goods and your inventory and bring them from place to place, that’s going to be a big investment that people make.”\nFacebook is spending billions per year on the metaverse.The company wouldn’t provide a specific figure, but didn’t shoot down one analyst’s estimation that the company is spending about $5 billion per year on metaverse-related development.\nA reality check: It’s going to take years for Zuckerberg’s plans to play out, if they even happen at all.Tech companies love futuristic concepts that aren’t fully baked yet, like artificial intelligence. The definitions of these terms tend to get blurry and move away from the original concept. There is an EV company potentially hitting the market later this year called Rivian and it's a start-up that's already raised $8.2 billion from the likes of <b>Amazon</b> (NASDAQ:AMZN), <b>Ford</b> (NYSE:F), Cox Automotive, and other big investors with real potential. Bloomberg reports that the company has selected underwriters for an IPO and it could reach the market this fall.</p>\n<p>But it's not the money Rivian has raised that excites me, it's the products the company plans to offer.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a995b715219bbd2af1bde111b6523160\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<h2>Filling an EV need</h2>\n<p>One of the biggest gaps in the EV market to this point has been trucks and SUVs. Tesla has dabbled in SUVs with the Model Y and Model X, but they were not really designed as rugged off-road vehicles and operate more as crossover-size vehicles. <b>Ford</b> and <b>General</b> <b>Motors</b> (NYSE:GM) both have electric trucks on the near horizon, but nothing the average consumer can yet access. That means the Rivian vehicles slated for release this month could be the first real truck and SUV manufacturer to hit the market.</p>\n<p>What makes the R1T truck and R1S different from most EVs is that they're purpose-built from the ground up to be electric vehicles. They come with over 300 miles of range, the ability to drive through three feet of water, and acceleration of zero to 60 miles per hour in as little as three seconds. And towing ability of up to 11,000 pounds puts them on par with the best-selling trucks in the world.</p>\n<p>The R1S SUV is <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the only EV SUVs that can comfortably fit seven passengers, opening up a large market of buyers who need more space than most of the crossover-size EVs hitting the market from <b>Volkswagen</b>, Ford, GM, and others can offer. And with both its truck and its SUV, Rivian is selling vehicles to buyers already spending over $50,000, so its $70,000 price tag won't come with much sticker shock for buyers who need the size or capabilities.</p>\n<h2>A big buyer is already on board</h2>\n<p>The drivetrain platforms for the R1T and R1S are the same, but they're not the only vehicles being built. The first vehicles to come off the production line will actually be delivery trucks for Amazon. Here's what Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe recently Tweeted.</p>\n<blockquote>\n I love these! pic.twitter.com/roAQy4Xff2-- RJ Scaringe (@RJScaringe) July 3, 2021\n</blockquote>\n<p>Amazon's $700 million investment in 2019 in Rivian wasn't just for equity, it was meant to build a new supplier for 400-plus-mile-range delivery trucks that could both lower costs and reduce the company's carbon footprint.</p>\n<p>Rivian isn't just getting cachet from Amazon, the investment brings a potentially huge source of demand. Amazon has reportedly ordered 100,000 Rivian trucks to be delivered by the end of 2030, and that could keep the company running for a long time as it builds out infrastructure to meet consumer demand.</p>\n<h2>What to expect from an IPO</h2>\n<p>Rivian isn't quite a pre-revenue company now that its production line is operating, but it's close. Outside of limited deliveries to Amazon, the company won't report much revenue pre-IPO -- but that will change quickly. Deliveries of R1T trucks are expected to start soon, with broader deliveries beginning in early 2022.</p>\n<p>Bloomberg has reported that Rivian could seek a $70 billion valuation in an IPO, with <b>Goldman Sachs</b>, <b>JPMorgan</b>, and <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MSTLW\">Morgan Stanley</a></b> signed on as advisors. That's a lofty valuation for a company this early in its growth cycle, but I do think Rivian is building a valuable brand and products that will appeal to the masses. Only time will tell if this valuation is too high.</p>\n<p>I don't often get excited about pre-IPO companies because we don't know a lot about their financials and it can be very early to judge what they'll look like as more mature companies. There is an EV company potentially hitting the market later this year called Rivian and it's a start-up that's already raised $8.2 billion from the likes of Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Ford (NYSE:F), Cox Automotive, and other big investors with real potential. Bloomberg reports that the company has selected underwriters for an IPO and it could reach the market this fall.\nBut it's not the money Rivian has raised that excites me, it's the products the company plans to offer.\n\nFilling an EV need\nOne of the biggest gaps in the EV market to this point has been trucks and SUVs. Tesla has dabbled in SUVs with the Model Y and Model X, but they were not really designed as rugged off-road vehicles and operate more as crossover-size vehicles. Ford and General Motors (NYSE:GM) both have electric trucks on the near horizon, but nothing the average consumer can yet access. That means the Rivian vehicles slated for release this month could be the first real truck and SUV manufacturer to hit the market.\nWhat makes the R1T truck and R1S different from most EVs is that they're purpose-built from the ground up to be electric vehicles. They come with over 300 miles of range, the ability to drive through three feet of water, and acceleration of zero to 60 miles per hour in as little as three seconds. And towing ability of up to 11,000 pounds puts them on par with the best-selling trucks in the world.\nThe R1S SUV is one of the only EV SUVs that can comfortably fit seven passengers, opening up a large market of buyers who need more space than most of the crossover-size EVs hitting the market from Volkswagen, Ford, GM, and others can offer. And with both its truck and its SUV, Rivian is selling vehicles to buyers already spending over $50,000, so its $70,000 price tag won't come with much sticker shock for buyers who need the size or capabilities.\nA big buyer is already on board\nThe drivetrain platforms for the R1T and R1S are the same, but they're not the only vehicles being built. The first vehicles to come off the production line will actually be delivery trucks for Amazon. Amazon has reportedly ordered 100,000 Rivian trucks to be delivered by the end of 2030, and that could keep the company running for a long time as it builds out infrastructure to meet consumer demand.\nWhat to expect from an IPO\nRivian isn't quite a pre-revenue company now that its production line is operating, but it's close. Outside of limited deliveries to Amazon, the company won't report much revenue pre-IPO -- but that will change quickly. Deliveries of R1T trucks are expected to start soon, with broader deliveries beginning in early 2022.\nBloomberg has reported that Rivian could seek a $70 billion valuation in an IPO, with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Morgan Stanley signed on as advisors. That's a lofty valuation for a company this early in its growth cycle, but I do think Rivian is building a valuable brand and products that will appeal to the masses. Only time will tell if this valuation is too high.\nI don't often get excited about pre-IPO companies because we don't know a lot about their financials and it can be very early to judge what they'll look like as more mature companies. Other executives also made out&nbsp;big. The new guys could also net millions,without performing,from the stock’s gains.</p>\n<p>So far these are the game’s big winners.</p>\n<p><b>GME Stock: Is the Squeeze Still On?</b></p>\n<p>The price of Gamestop stock is not based on fundamentals. It’s based on a short squeeze, or the perception of one. With Gamestop adding a new shelf registration to issue new shares (which shorts can buy to cover their bets), that perception is diminishing.</p>\n<p>According to the&nbsp;<b>Twitter</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>TWTR</u></b>) account of Wallstreetbets,the most popular tickers&nbsp;on June 11&nbsp;are&nbsp;<b>AMC Entertainment Holdings</b>(NYSE:<b><u>AMC</u></b>),<b>Blackberry</b>(NYSE:<b><u>BB</u></b>) and&nbsp;<b>Clover Health</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>CLOV</u></b>). Gamestop is missing. This despite&nbsp;Igor Dusaniwsky of S3 Partners&nbsp;giving the stock a “short squeeze score” of 100 out of 100. (He used to measure it as 10 out of 10, but 100 sounds bigger.)</p>\n<p>Not all the juice has been squeezed. After falling 27% on June 10, shares bounced back in the thin pre-market trade June 11, recovering a small portion of the loss. Furlong wasn’t with the Amazon Web Services cloud unit. He was&nbsp;head of Australia operations.The new Chief Financial Officer is&nbsp;Mike Recupero, who had been running numbers for Amazon Prime Video.</p>\n<p>Together, these three men are supposed to create a great, grand new business model for Gamestop, based on the Internet. So far, this has meant&nbsp;fixing up a warehouse in Pennsylvania&nbsp;to sell games and systems online.</p>\n<p>But that’s not going to justify a market cap of $15.8 billion, which is 3 times sales at the first quarter run rate. If Gamestop could use the gamers’ cash hoard to help Amazon spin-out Twitch, its video game entertainment unit, that might be tempting. If it could use that hoard to help take Gabe Newell’s Valve public, that might also be interesting.</p>\n<p>Trouble is, that last paragraph is pure speculation. So far as I know, no move toward cloud gaming is contemplated.</p>\n<p><b>GME Stock: The Bottom Line</b></p>\n<p>I never recommend shorting stocks. Even when you’re right you can be wrong.</p>\n<p>When you short a stock you’re borrowing it, promising to buy it back. That means a hedge fund, or just a mean online gang, can bid up shares and squeeze you, without regard to fundamentals.</p>\n<p>The game is 150 years old, but the modern model is the&nbsp;<b>Herbalife</b>(NYSE:<b><u>HLF</u></b>) squeeze of the last decade.I covered the story for<i>TheStreet</i>.&nbsp;Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman publicly bet against Herbalife in late 2012. SLYV rallied 32% this year through Thursday's close.</p>\n<p>That more than doubles the return of its growth stock counterpart, SPDR S&amp;P 600 Small Cap Growth (SLYG), which is up 15%. The index SLYG tracks includes stocks with the strongest growth traits based on sales growth, earnings change to price and momentum.</p>\n<p>Back to SLYV, financials accounted for the biggest sector weight at 24% of assets. Industrials weighed in at about 17%, consumer discretionary 15% and real estate 10%. Information technology was next at 8% and materials, energy and health care, 6% each.&nbsp;Smaller positions in consumer staples, utilities and communication services made up the rest.</p>\n<p>SPDR S&amp;P 600 Small Cap Value is in IBD's ETF Leaders, but SPDR S&amp;P 600 Small Cap Growth is not.</p>\n<p><b>GameStop Stock Leads</b></p>\n<p><b>GameStop</b>(GME),<b>Macy's</b>(M),<b>PDC Energy</b>(PDCE),<b>Resideo Technologies</b>(REZI) and<b>BankUnited</b>(BKU) were the top five holdings as of Wednesday.</p>\n<p><b>Pacific Premier Bancorp</b>(PPBI),<b>Bed Bath &amp; Beyond</b>(BBBY),<b>Ameris Bancorp</b>(ABCB),<b>First Hawaiian</b>(FHB) and<b>Insight Enterprises</b>(NSIT) rounded out the top 10.</p>\n<p>GameStop has undergone wide swings this year. It rocketed about 2,500% early this year amid theshort-squeeze rallyfueled by the Reddit/WallStreetBets crowd.GME stockthen crashed 92% from a Jan. 28 high to its mid-February low. That was followed by an 805% surge the next three weeks, and a 66% drop over the next two weeks.</p>\n<p>Action had been relatively subdued since, until Thursday's 27% dive. Even after that, GameStop stock was up 1,070% year to date through Thursday's close.</p>\n<p>Could GME be inflating SLYV's performance? Certainly, given its quadruple-digit gain. But a look at SLYG's portfolio is interesting. GameStop stock is also the top holding in the growth stock ETF, though the rest of the top 10 differ vastly.</p>\n<p><b>Second Meme Stock In Top 10</b></p>\n<p>PDC Energy, up 130%, saw the next biggest gain in the top 10. The Colorado-based oil and gas explorer has a 97Relative Strength Rating, which mean it's in the top 3% of all stocks. Its relative strength line is at a 52-week high, a bullish sign.</p>\n<p>Bed Bath &amp; Beyond, another meme stock, is up 78% this year. Shares surged more than 200% in January, amid a spate of wild double-digit swings. BBBY stock then gave back the bulk of its gains.</p>\n<p>But the home goods retailer appears to be back on the radar of the WallStreetBets discussion group. On June 2, Bed Bath &amp; Beyond soared 62% before diving 28% the next session.</p>\n<p>The rest of the top 10 stocks have also outperformed the broader market. Macy's is up 68% year to date, while Resideo, Pacific Premier and Ameris have risen more than 40% each. The lowest gainer, bank holding company First Hawaiian, has advanced 20%. firm wrote.Simon Property GroupA strong recovery is finally in sight for the beleaguered real estate investment trust and owner of malls and outlet centers, Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Goldfarb the strong 1Q21 beat and guidance increase, from a team known to be conservative, bodes well for the balance of this year into next,” he said.Additionally, March sales were back to 2019 levels and that should give investors confidence that more foot traffic is just around corner, Goldfarb said.“As the return to normalcy accelerates, we expect the retail landscape to continue its robust rebound, People steered clear of packed indoor movie screenings with the coronavirus pandemic still going strong, but that's less of a risk as more of the U.S. population has been vaccinated.</p><p>Hence, investors are betting that AMC's revenue and earnings will experience a massive rebound starting in the second quarter. In 2019, the company generated $5.42 billion from ticket, concessions (food and beverage), and entertainment sales and posted a free cash flow of $84 million.</p><p>But there's more. The pandemic also led to extended production delays, as social distancing can be difficult on a movie set. Many producers also did not want to release completed films in a purely digital format and miss out on lucrative box office revenue.&nbsp;</p><p>There is now a massive backlog of new films from blockbuster franchise properties such as <i>Avatar</i>,&nbsp;<i>Dungeons &amp; Dragons, Ghostbusters, Halloween, Kingsman, The Matrix, Minecraft, Mission: Impossible, </i>and<i> Tomb Raider, </i>as well as several new offerings from the comic book universes of DC and Marvel. They are all scheduled to be released by the end of 2022.</p><p>The schedule is so packed that prominent films like&nbsp;<i>Black Widow</i>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<i>Cinderella&nbsp;</i>are set to hit theaters within two weeks of <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> another in July. Given its sheer size, AMC might even see its box office revenue hit record highs in 2022.</p><h2>Can you count on AMC?</h2><p>Generally speaking, most investors tend to buy on emotion and justify with reason. Now is probably time to look at the latter. When the stock was trading for just $12 last month, it looked pretty undervalued.</p><p>However, things have changed as AMC's market cap has surged to nearly $25 billion. To put things into perspective, the company's market cap was less than <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>-fifth of that amount in 2016, before streaming services like <b>Netflix</b>&nbsp;gained momentum and took away some of its market share.&nbsp;</p><p>What's more, AMC has $5.4 billion in long-term debt and owes $4.9 billion per year in theater rent. Even in its heyday, the company operated at razor-thin margins. Now its balance sheet looks even worse as liabilities outpace its assets by over $2 billion. For these reasons, it's probably a good time to take profits on the stock and consolidate gains.</p><h2>But watch for its next move</h2><p>Based on the poor fundamentals (and experience with market bubbles), it can be very tempting to see the recent rally as nothing more than a pump-and-dump scheme or a total scam. But there is something that even prudent investors are missing.&nbsp;</p><p>With a $25 billion market cap, AMC only has to issue 22% more shares to raise cash to pay off its entire debt balance. That's right: The company has the potential to do a \"soft reset\" and start afresh. The returns would be immediate, as after closing, it would no longer have to pay $151.5 million per quarter in interest. In the first quarter of 2021, the company's interest expense outweighed its total revenue.</p><p>Not only would its profit margins increase, but it could also use new cash to increase its theater count, upgrade its recliner seats and big screens, introduce dine-in restaurants at its locations, and more. Since there is still a lot of demand from retail investors at these levels, I don't think it would have trouble finding buyers for the offering, either.</p><p>In fact, the company did just that on June 3. AMC sold 11.5 million shares of stock hours after announcing the offering, raising $587.4 million in much-needed cash. The stock fell by more than 30% from the previous day's close before recovering. Investors should continue to expect further dilutions ahead, as the new capital is still not enough for a soft reset of its liabilities.</p><p>Overall, AMC stock is very overvalued at these levels. But thanks to the help of 10.3 million traders/followers/influencers of WallStreetBets, the company now has the option to refinance or eliminate its crippling liabilities. If you’ve seen the movie “Ready Player One,” you have a pretty good idea of what the metaverse is: Strap on a set of computerized glasses, and you’re transported into a digital universe where anything is possible.\nFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the most bullish on the concept,announcing his plans earlier this month to pivot Facebook from a social media company to a metaverse company in the coming years.\nIt’s less clear how tech companies can profit off the metaverse concept.\nZuckerberg, his executive team and Wall Street analysts spent a lot of time on the company’s earnings call on Wednesday discussing the metaverse, how much it’ll cost Facebook to build and how Facebook plans to profit from it.\nIn fact, “metaverse” was mentioned 20 times on the hour-long call. There were 28 mentions of advertising, Facebook’s core business that brought in more than $28 billion in revenue for the quarter.\nHere’s the business case Zuckerberg and his team made for Facebook’s investment in the metaverse:\nFacebook will sell the hardware, but that’s not where the real money comes from.Zuckerberg said on the earnings call that Facebook’s goal is to sell its headsets as cheaply as possible and focus on making money through commerce and advertising within the metaverse itself.\n“Our business model isn’t going to primarily be around trying to sell devices at a large premium or anything like that because our mission is around serving as many people as possible,” Zuckerberg said on the earnings call. “So we want to make everything that we do as affordable as possible, so as many people as possible can get into it and then compounds the size of the digital economy inside it.”\nFacebook already runs Oculus, the virtual reality division of the company. Today, Oculus’ VR headsets are relatively limited in what they can do. But Facebook’s hope is to improve the technology so the headsets look more like a pair of Warby Parker glasses instead of a clunky helmet. According to Zuckerberg, the metaverse will only work if the hardware can provide the user a true sense of presence in the digital world.\nAdvertising will still play a role, but Facebook will focus on the sale of virtual goods.Zuckerberg said advertising in the metaverse will be “an important part” of Facebook’s strategy to profit off the metaverse, but he sounded more bullish on commerce in the digital world.\nMany consider some of today’s video games like Microsoft’s Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite early versions of what a metaverse could be. Those free games make money by selling virtual goods to players. Zuckerberg hinted on the earnings call Facebook would copy that strategy to make money in its own metaverse, taking a slice of every transaction.\n“I think digital goods and creators are just going to be huge... in terms of people expressing themselves through their avatars, through digital clothing, through digital goods, the apps that they have, that they bring with them from place to place,” Zuckerberg said. “A lot of the metaverse experience is going to be around being able to teleport from one experience to another. So being able to basically have your digital goods and your inventory and bring them from place to place, that’s going to be a big investment that people make.”\nFacebook is spending billions per year on the metaverse.The company wouldn’t provide a specific figure, but didn’t shoot down one analyst’s estimation that the company is spending about $5 billion per year on metaverse-related development.\nA reality check: It’s going to take years for Zuckerberg’s plans to play out, if they even happen at all.Tech companies love futuristic concepts that aren’t fully baked yet, like artificial intelligence. The definitions of these terms tend to get blurry and move away from the original concept. (Real artificial intelligence does not exist yet, for example, no matter how many Big Tech executives pretend it does.)\nThere’s a real risk the metaverse concept will fall into that same trap. As more and more companies, especially those like Facebook and Microsoft, talk up their metaverse strategies in the near term, keep in mind we’re still several years (or more) away from it becoming a reality. The technology still hasn’t caught up to the promise, and it won’t any time Patil.“Lots of upside potential still left ahead,” Patil wrote in a recent note.Match, which owns Tinder and several other dating websites, reported a robust earnings report in early may where it beat on revenue.“Tinder is continuing its momentum, and non-Tinder brands are crushing expectations, reaching a new record of 30% y/y growth in 1Q,” he said.Even as shares are down about 8.7% this year and have struggled under the weight of the pandemic, Patil said investors should stick with the stock.“We see MTCH as one of the strongest business franchises in the Internet sector, believe a likely second-half recovery should be a strong tail wind and would recommend taking advantage of the recent dip in the shares,” he wrote.It should be no surprise then, Patil added, that Match revenue continues to accelerate, especially as consumers reenter society.“MTCH noted that momentum is continuing across the portfolio, partially driven by the vaccine rollouts, particularly in the U.S.,” the The company mines for gold across six continents, with operations in Brazil, Ghana, Mauritania, Russia and the United States.&nbsp; It also operates a joint venture with AngloGold Ashanti Limited that provides mining services at two sites in West Africa—one of which was recently awarded an environmental permit from the government of Guinea.&nbsp; This year alone Kinross plans to invest $1 billion into expansion projects throughout their global footprint as they continue to grow their business worldwide.</p><p>Since 2015, Kinross has seen its share price rise by as much as 400%. In fact, this year alone, it’s already up by as much as 85%. And Kinross is showing no signs of slowing. With a healthy balance sheet, favorable earnings reports, and governments, banks, and retail investors piling into safe haven assets, it’s likely to continue climbing.</p><p>Following the trend of the gold market, Kinross posted positive fourth-quarter earnings but has been weighed down by the falling price of gold.
