companies grew revenue by triple-digit rates in their most recent quarters. More importantly, their futures look bright.","content":"
Key Points
\n
\n
Growth stocks may be riskier than stable and established companies, but carefully selected ones may be worth it.
\n
Stay-at-home trends have helped these companies, but their growth rates were high before the pandemic, too.
\n
Both of these fast-growing tech businesses are already profitable.
\n
\n
There's an interesting dilemma when it comes to picking stocks investors can likely hold for years or even decades. On the one hand, investors looking to hold shares for the long haul can stick with stable and established companies that have been around for decades and will likely continue succeeding for the foreseeable future -- companies like Waste Management and Berkshire Hathaway. The downside to this approach, however, is that investors may miss out on the potential outperformance that could come from fast-growing companies over the long haul.
\n
The issue with buying growth stocks, however, is that it's extremely difficult to gauge how long their rapid top-line growth rates can persist. Further, these companies' stock prices could perform very poorly if the growth prospects already baked into the stock price don't pan out. In other words, there's arguably more risk when it comes to betting on growth stocks for the next decade than there is for stable and established companies with decades of success behind them.
\n
So if an investor wants to buy growth stocks with a high chance of exceeding expectations over the next 10 years, they better have some pretty good reasons to believe these companies can do exactly that.
\n
\n
Here are two growth stocks that have a shot at not only living up to high expectations over the next 10 years but possibly even exceeding them:Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) and Peloton Interactive(NASDAQ:PTON).
\n
Zoom and Peloton were already thriving before the pandemic
\n
At first glance, investors may conclude that Zoom is nothing more than a pandemic stock. They may argue that the company's success was predicated almost entirely on the fact that much of the world was in lockdown in 2020 and going into 2021.
\n
It's true that Zoom benefited significantly from the rise of virtual work in 2020. After all, revenue for the company's fiscal 2021 (a fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2021) skyrocketed 326% year over year. But investors should note that the trend of using video to collaborate virtually was already extremely strong before the pandemic; fiscal 2020 revenue rose 88% year over year. Growth at the time was particularly strong from large customers. Zoom's customers contributing more than $100,000 of trailing-12-month revenue increased 86% year over year in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.
\n
The same goes for Peloton. On the one hand, investors looking to hold shares for the long haul can stick with stable and established companies that have been around for decades and will likely continue succeeding for the foreseeable future -- companies like Waste Management and Berkshire Hathaway. The downside to this approach, however, is that investors may miss out on the potential outperformance that could come from fast-growing companies over the long haul.\nThe issue with buying growth stocks, however, is that it's extremely difficult to gauge how long their rapid top-line growth rates can persist. Further, these companies' stock prices could perform very poorly if the growth prospects already baked into the stock price don't pan out. In other words, there's arguably more risk when it comes to betting on growth stocks for the next decade than there is for stable and established companies with decades of success behind them.\nSo if an investor wants to buy growth stocks with a high chance of exceeding expectations over the next 10 years, they better have some pretty good reasons to believe these companies can do exactly that.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nHere are two growth stocks that have a shot at not only living up to high expectations over the next 10 years but possibly even exceeding them:Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) and Peloton Interactive(NASDAQ:PTON).\nZoom and Peloton were already thriving before the pandemic\nAt first glance, investors may conclude that Zoom is nothing more than a pandemic stock. They may argue that the company's success was predicated almost entirely on the fact that much of the world was in lockdown in 2020 and going into 2021.\nIt's true that Zoom benefited significantly from the rise of virtual work in 2020. Zoom's customers contributing more than $100,000 of trailing-12-month revenue increased 86% year over year in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.\nThe same goes for Peloton. The company certainly benefited from the pandemic, but revenue during the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2019 was growing at a year-over-year rate of 77%, with connected fitness subscribers increasing 96% year over year.\nContinued momentum\nThe underlying catalysts driving Zoom and Peloton are both still alive and well. Strong growth persists at both companies.\nDespite facing extremely tough comparisons in the year-ago quarter, from when both companies were benefiting from soaring demand amid lockdowns, Zoom's and Peloton's revenue in their most recently reported quarters grew 191% and 141% year over year, respectively.\nLooking ahead, Zoom notably guided for fiscal 2022 revenue of nearly $4 billion, up from fiscal 2021 revenue of about $2.7 billion.\nBoding well for Peloton's continued momentum, management said in its most recent quarterly update that its monthly average workouts per connected fitness subscription rose to an all-time high, showing how the company's products are still yielding high engagement even as the economy reopens.\nHealthy profits\nFinally, another factor that makes these companies unique from many other growth stocks is that they are already very profitable. Zoom generated $873 million of net income on $3.3 billion of trailing-12-month sales, and Peloton served up $213 million of net income from $3.7 billion in revenue.\nSubstantial profits give these companies an edge when it comes to reinvesting in growth opportunities ahead of them and spending on efforts to enhance their competitive positioning and first-mover advantages in their respective industries.\nWhile there's no guarantee these two stocks will beat the market over the next 10 years, their recent momentum -- before, during, and after the worst part of the pandemic -- suggests they likely have a promising future.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":84,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3575197337244742","authorId":"3575197337244742","name":"Dazhu","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3575197337244742","idStr":"3575197337244742"},"content":"who are their competitors now?","text":"who are their competitors now?","html":"who are their competitors now?"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144540026,"gmtCreate":1626307565465,"gmtModify":1703757455952,"author":{"id":"3573651326517472","authorId":"3573651326517472","name":"Solewalker","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/af829c0d59da17532214d90b8051f4ff","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573651326517472","idStr":"3573651326517472"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Poor market breadth. And the consensus estimate for revenue is a nearly 50% increase, to $27.9 billion. Even Facebook’s monthly active user base is expected to grow 7.3% to 2.9 billion.
\n
Now, it’s not that the threats don’t matter—they will at some point—but they simply don’t matter right now. He’s going to be looking closely at Facebook’s monthly user count and how it stands up to mid-lockdown last year when people didn’t have much else to do. Mahaney expects user growth to slow down.
\n
BofA Securities analyst Justin Post agrees about Apple. Early data that his team has reviewed suggests the new policy won’t have much impact in the second quarter. Post thinks investors should watch for commentary about the impact of the tracking changes in the second half of the year; his team is predicting the new policy could bring down third-quarter revenue by a mid-single digit.
\n
Advertising aside, it never hurts to pay a bit of attention to Facebook’s virtual reality efforts. Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has stressed how important the company’s VR and augmented reality business might become, and has staked billions on that claim. Second-quarter revenue, which includes the Quest 2 VR gadget, is expected to be $690.5 million.
\n
Of the 58 analysts who cover Facebook, 48 give shares a Buy rating. Post thinks investors should watch for commentary about the impact of the tracking changes in the second half of the year; his team is predicting the new policy could bring down third-quarter revenue by a mid-single digit.\nAdvertising aside, it never hurts to pay a bit of attention to Facebook’s virtual reality efforts. Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has stressed how important the company’s VR and augmented reality business might become, and has staked billions on that claim. Second-quarter revenue, which includes the Quest 2 VR gadget, is expected to be $690.5 million.\nOf the 58 analysts who cover Facebook, 48 give shares a Buy rating. Seven rate the stock Hold, and three have a Sell rating. The average target price is $392.91, which implies an upside of 7.3%. They typically occur without warning, and the often violent plunge in stock prices they bring about can be harrowing to even the most experienced investors.
\n
These shocking declines occur relatively often (a market correction of 10% or more happens every 1.84 years, on average), and yet they can give you a chance to buy outstanding businesses at steeply discounted prices you might not otherwise find. In this way, a market crash can provide you with an opportunity to build tremendous wealth -- if you know which stocks to buy.
\n
To help you in this regard, here are three excellent companies to put on your stock market crash shopping list.
\n
1. CrowdStrike
\n
The coronavirus pandemic accelerated the shift to the cloud for many companies. As more companies migrate their operations online, the need for effective cybersecurity solutions is becoming that much more vital. Fortunately, CrowdStrike (NASDAQ:CRWD) is helping to meet this growing need for cloud security -- and business is booming.
\n
CrowdStrike uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect threats and prevent cyber breaches. It excels at providing protection at the device level -- think laptops, mobile phones, and sensors -- which has positioned it to profit from an increase in remote work and the growth of the Internet of Things. CrowdStrike's revenue soared 70% year over year to $302.8 million in its fiscal 2022 first quarter. Its free cash flow, meanwhile, climbed 35% to $117.3 million.
\n
Better still, management sees a path from its current $1 billion in annual recurring revenue to $3 billion by fiscal 2025, fueled by strong customer growth. If CrowdStrike can hit its expansion targets -- and all signs suggest it will -- investors should be well rewarded. And if you can pick up shares at bargain prices during a market crash, your odds of earning sizable returns will be even greater.
\n
2. NVIDIA
\n
The shift to the cloud is also helping to turbocharge NVIDIA's (NASDAQ:NVDA) growth. The semiconductor giant is enjoying surging demand for its chips in a wide swath of industries, as more companies integrate AI and other cutting-edge technology into their daily operations.
\n
NVIDIA's revenue rocketed 84% to $5.7 billion in its fiscal 2022 first quarter, driven by strong growth in its gaming and data center businesses. Its adjusted net income, in turn, jumped 107% to $2.3 billion.
\n
Yet despite its torrid growth in recent years, NVIDIA has a long runway for further expansion still ahead. With intriguing opportunities in cloud computing infrastructure, telecommunications, and autonomous vehicles, management pegs the chipmaker's total addressable market at a staggering $250 billion.
\n
NVIDIA's stock currently trades for a rather steep 50 times Wall Street's earnings estimates for fiscal 2022. But should a market crash give you a chance to scoop up shares of this tech titan at a discount, consider buying some. A few years from now, you'll likely be glad you did.
\n
3. Shopify
\n
COVID-19 has also accelerated the movement of retail sales to the internet. Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) is helping to fuel this megatrend, by giving small businesses the tools they need to build and grow their online stores.
\n
More than 1.7 million merchants use Shopify's software to power their e-commerce operations. Payment processing, fulfillment, shipping, and business financing are just some of the services Shopify provides. Demand for these services is soaring, much to Shopify's benefit.
\n
The total dollar amount of sales merchants generated on the e-commerce platform -- a metric known as gross merchandise volume, or GMV -- rose 114% year over year to $37.3 billion in the first quarter. Shopify's revenue, in turn, surged 110% to $988.6 million, while its adjusted net income increased more than elevenfold to $254.1 million.
\n
Shopify is an outstanding business that's growing at a torrid rate. But there's one problem: Its stock price already reflects this. Shopify currently trades for about 300 times analysts' earnings estimates for 2022, which is not cheap. But if a stock market crash gives you an opportunity to buy shares of this e-commerce leader at a more attractive price, consider jumping on it. Shopify has created fortunes for its long-term investors, and it's poised to continue to do so in the coming decade.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Top Stocks to Buy if the Market Crashes
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Top Stocks to Buy if the Market Crashes\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-16 09:17 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Stock market crashes can be frightening. Goldman is projecting a significant earnings per share beat for its fellow major bank.\nThe derivatives team suggested buying call options on Morgan Stanley that expire later this month with a strike price of $91 per share, which is slightly above where the stock closed on Friday.\nCall options give traders the right to buy a stock in the future at a set price, called the strike price. The risk to traders is that the stock fails to climb above that strike price, and then the person holding the call option loses the fee they paid for the derivative.\nInvestors should also explore call options forStarbucksandCaterpillar, according to Goldman Sachs. Shares of the coffee chain have underperformed the broader market this year, while Caterpillar’s stock has dipped about 5% since its previous earnings report in April.\nThose companies are expected to report toward the end of July, so investors should look at call options that expire in August, according to Goldman.\nGOLDMAN SACHS OPTIONS IDEAS FOR EARNINGS SEASON\n\n\n\nTICKER\nCOMPANY\nOPTION TYPE\nEARNINGS DATE (ANNOUNCED OR ESTIMATED)\n\n\n\n\nMS\nMorgan Stanley\nCall\nJuly 15\n\n\nSBUX\nStarbucks\nCall\nJuly 27\n\n\nCAT\nCaterpillar\nCall\nJuly 30\n\n\nTAP\nMolson Coors\nPut\nJuly 29\n\n\n\nOn the other hand, there are some stocks that Goldman is bearish on ahead of the earnings reports.\nThe firm has a sell rating on Molson Coors, which is slated to report on July 29. Goldman’s analysts projects a significant earnings miss for the beverage company this quarter, and suggests that traders look at the August put options on the stock.\nPut options are effectively the reverse of a call option and function as a bet that a stock will go down. They give traders the right to sell a stock at a set strike price while only risking the fee paid to purchase the option.\nMolson Coors stock has slightly beaten the broader market in 2021, but it is still trading near its pre-pandemic levels, making it a significant laggard on a longer time frame. The stock has a sell rating from 23% of analysts, according to FactSet, suggesting that Goldman is not alone in having a negative outlook on the company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":13,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":818472131,"gmtCreate":1630444642423,"gmtModify":1676530302764,"author":{"id":"3573651326517472","authorId":"3573651326517472","name":"Solewalker","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/af829c0d59da17532214d90b8051f4ff","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573651326517472","idStr":"3573651326517472"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Dead","listText":"Dead","text":"Dead","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/818472131","repostId":"1155259610","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1155259610","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1630421174,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1155259610?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-08-31 22:46","market":"us","language":"en","title":"ZM Stock Alert: 8 Reasons Why Zoom Video Is Tumbling Today","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1155259610","media":"investorplace","summary":"Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) stock is taking a beating on Tuesday following the release of t","content":"
Zoom Video Communications(NASDAQ:ZM) stock is taking a beating on Tuesday following the release of the company’s earnings report for the second quarter of fiscal 2022.
\n
Let’s dive into that earnings report below to see what has ZM stock falling today.
\n
\n
The biggest problem facing Zoom Video this morning is its guidance for the upcoming quarter.
\n
That begins with an outlook for Q3 that includes adjusted earnings per share of $1.07 to $1.08.
\n
This would have it missing Wall Street’s estimate of $1.09 for the quarter.
\n
There’s also the fact that Zoom Video is seeing slower growth now that lockdowns are coming to an end.
\n
That’s a result of schools and businesses using the company’s services less and less to hold virtual meetings.
\n
These are pulling down an otherwise solid earnings report for the company.
\n
Its adjusted earnings per share for the current quarter was $1.36, which beat out Wall Street’s estimate of $1.16.
\n
Revenue of $1.02 billion was also better than the $990.96 million that analysts were expecting.
\n
\n
Eric Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom Video, said the following in the earnings report affecting ZM stock today.
\n
\n “In Q2, we achieved our first billion dollar revenue quarter while delivering strong profitability and cash flow. The shares fell about 2.5% in late trading Monday. XPeng is currently trading little changed from its offer price in Hong Kong.\nLike XPeng, Li Auto’s listing will be dual primary. The EV firms aren’t eligible for the waiver that some greater China-based companies use to seek a secondary listing, as they don’t have a track record of at least two years’ trading on another exchange.\nLi Auto raised $1.3 billion in its U.S. initial public offering a year ago. Its shares have risen 193% from its offer price as part of a global rally in EV stocks.\nThe carmaker is still loss-making, recording a net loss of $54.9 million in the first three months of this year on revenues of $546 million, its prospectus shows.\nIt plans to set the final price for the listing Aug. 6 and trading is slated to begin Aug. 12, according to a filing to Hong Kong stock exchange.\nGoldman Sachs Group Inc. and China International Capital Corp. are joint sponsors for Li Auto’s Hong Kong listing, while UBS Group AG is the financial adviser.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":43,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174248231,"gmtCreate":1627105377323,"gmtModify":1703484362102,"author":{"id":"3573651326517472","authorId":"3573651326517472","name":"Solewalker","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/af829c0d59da17532214d90b8051f4ff","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573651326517472","idStr":"3573651326517472"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Don’t have high expectations for Tesla er ","listText":"Don’t have high expectations for Tesla er ","text":"Don’t have high expectations for Tesla er","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/174248231","repostId":"1191636755","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1191636755","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1627084309,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1191636755?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-24 07:51","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Earnings Are Coming. Figuring out if the stock will go up or down, however, shouldn’t be all that difficult.
\n
The EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday,July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.
\n
There are plenty of factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings—the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.
\n

\n
Tesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.
\n
The good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.
\n
After earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. For instance, one way Tesla generates sales is by selling regulatory credits—which it earns by producing more than its fair share of electric vehicles. The company generated $518 million in first-quarter credit sales, which helped Tesla beat earnings estimates. There is always debate about what is the “normal” amount of credit sales and when will those sales dry up. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.
\n
There is also the issue of Bitcoin. Tesla recognized a small gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, but the cryptocurrency’s prices have fallen by roughly half since their April peak. That means there is a chance of a small loss. How investors react is anyone’s guess, but don’t expect Tesla to sell out of its Bitcoin position. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.
\n
Investors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.
\n
All those topics and more should come up on the earningsconference callscheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
