Amazon has told investors to expect revenue of $100 billion to $106 billion, with operating income of between $3 billion and $6.5 billion, and about $2 billion in costs related to Covid-19. The Wall Street consensus calls for revenue of $104.5 billion, with profits of $9.54 a share.</p>\n<p>The Street also clearly expects the quarter’s results to show continued strength in e-commerce. According to FactSet, Wall Street analysts expect online-stores revenue of $51.5 billion, up 41% from a year ago, with third-party sales of $21.7 billion, up 50%. Subscription revenues are expected to be $7.3 billion, up 32%, while revenue from physical stores is expected to be $4.3 billion, down 8%. AWS revenues are projected at $13.2 billion, up 29%.</p>\n<p>One open question is what forecasts the company will make for the June quarter as parts of the country begin to return to more normal economic activity. The Street is projecting June quarter revenue of $108.7 billion and profits of $10.81 a share.</p>\n<p>In an earnings preview note, Truist analyst Youssef Squali&nbsp;reiterated a Buy rating on the stock and a target of $3,750 for the share price. The stock closed Tuesday at $3,417.43, up 4.9% year to date.</p>\n<p>He expects revenue to come in at the high end of the range Amazon predicted, saying e-commerce demand has remained strong both in the U.S. and internationally, given that the pandemic has been slow to subside. Conversations with people in the industry and strong earning disclosed last week by Snap bode well for Amazon’s ad business, which is lumped into a category called “other,” he wrote. He also thinks the market continues to underestimate the long-term growth potential of the dominance of the company’s two key businesses—e-commerce and AWS—as well as the company’s “emerging leadership in online advertising.”</p>\n<p>Stifel analyst Scott Devitt&nbsp;is similarly bullish, repeating a Buy rating and $4,000 target price. He sees 40% top-line growth, a little ahead of the Street consensus. “The focus on the report will largely center on the outlook as Amazon laps the difficult prior year compares from the onset of the pandemic,” he wrote in a research note.</p>\n<p>“Growth in a post-Covid environment remains largely uncertain for Amazon and across the e-commerce landscape,” Devitt said. “Our [June quarter] revenue estimates are ahead of consensus as we see tailwinds stemming from strong growth in new Prime members and diversification across geographies and categories supporting the retail business as economies recover.” He also said AWS and the ad business are well positioned for a recovery.</p>\n<p>Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter likewise maintained an Outperform rating and $4,000 target. Morgan, B of A Securities, Credit Suisse, Barclays, and Wells Fargo Securities are among the underwriters.</p><p><b>Here are five things to know about UiPath:</b></p><p><b>The 'humble' company notes rapid expansion</b></p><p>In the S-1, UiPath Chief Executive, Chairman and co-founder Daniel Dines wrote about his company having \"humility\" as a core value, in that it allows its developers to listen and adapt quickly to the needs of the customer. Founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 2005, the company was incorporated in Delaware six years ago after working its way up from \"10 people in an apartment in Romania,\" Dines wrote.</p><p>\"We went against the rules of perfecting the business model first in <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> territory, and instead we rapidly expanded globally to the United States, Europe, and Asia simultaneously,\" the CEO wrote in a letter.</p><p>At a current annualized renewal run rate, or ARR, of $580 million, UiPath bills itself as \"<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the fastest-growing modern enterprise software companies ever.\" ARR is a metric often used by software-as-a-service companies to show how much revenue the company can expect based on subscriptions.</p><p>While UiPath notes International Data Corp. sees the automation software market at $17 billion in 2020, with an expected rise to $30 billion by 2024, the company said its \"fully automated enterprise\" software gives it a current market opportunity of more than $60 billion.</p><p><b>CEO holds most of the cards</b></p><p>Since 2015, UiPath has raised about $2 billion in eight funding rounds, according to Crunchbase. That funding doesn't appear to have bought much voting power in the company, though.</p><p>UiPath's Class B shares carry 35 votes, while Class A shares -- being offered in the IPO -- carry one vote. The S-1 filing revealed that CEO Dines holds 100% of the Class B shares and 6.5% of the Class A shares, for 88.1% of the voting power.</p><p>The only entity that comes close to that is venture-capital firm Accel, which began building its stake in 2017, and now claims about 101 million Class A shares, or 24% of those shares, for 3.1% of the voting power. Earlybird Management, with 9.5% of Class A shares, commands 1.2% of the votes.</p><p><b>The company has reined in expenses</b></p><p>For the fiscal year 2021 ended Jan. 30, the company booked $607.6 million in revenue for a loss of $92.4 million, compared with $336.2 million in revenue for a loss of $519.9 million in fiscal 2020. In 2018, UiPath reported fiscal 2019 revenue of $148.5 million and a loss of $261.6 million.</p><p>As revenue rose 81% for fiscal 2021, UiPath reduced sales and marketing costs by 21%, research and development costs by 16%, and general and administrative expenses by 10%.</p><p><b>No specific plans for the funds</b></p><p>If underwriters exercise all option for shares in the offering, UiPath expects to bring in net proceeds of about $1.34 billion, based on a $56 stock price. With about $357.7 million in ready cash on the books as of Jan. 31, the company isn't earmarking raised capital for any specific use.</p><p>\"As of the date of this prospectus, we cannot specify with certainty all of the particular uses for the net proceeds to us from this offering,\" the company said in its April 19 filing. \"However, we currently intend to use the net proceeds we receive from this offering for general corporate purposes, including working capital, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.\"</p><p><b>COVID-19 boosted diverse customer base</b></p><p>As of Jan. 31, the company claimed having nearly 8,000 customers, with 63% of the those in the Fortune Global 500. About 1,000 of those customers account for more than $100,000 in ARR apiece, UiPath said. The company highlighted such customers as Adobe Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ADBE\">$(ADBE)$</a>, Applied Materials Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AMAT\">$(AMAT)$</a>, Chevron Corp. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CVX\">$(CVX)$</a>, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CMG\">$(CMG)$</a>, CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CRWD\">$(CRWD)$</a>, CVS Health Corp. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CVS\">$(CVS)$</a> and Uber Technologies Inc. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/UBER\">$(UBER)$</a>.</p><p>That's compared with the 700-or-so customers the company claimed in 2018.</p><p>The company's current customer base is spread out enough where one customer can't upset revenue significantly.  \"No customer or channel partner accounted for more than 10% of our revenue for the year-ended January 31, 2021,\" according to the S-1.</p><p>Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic helped. That funding doesn't appear to have bought much voting power in the company, though.</p><p>UiPath's Class B shares carry 35 votes, while Class A shares -- being offered in the IPO -- carry one vote. The S-1 filing revealed that CEO Dines holds 100% of the Class B shares and 6.5% of the Class A shares, for 88.1% of the voting power.</p><p>The only entity that comes close to that is venture-capital firm Accel, which began building its stake in 2017, and now claims about 101 million Class A shares, or 24% of those shares, for 3.1% of the voting power. Earlybird Management, with 9.5% of Class A shares, commands 1.2% of the votes.</p><p><b>The company has reined in expenses</b></p><p>For the fiscal year 2021 ended Jan. 30, the company booked $607.6 million in revenue for a loss of $92.4 million, compared with $336.2 million in revenue for a loss of $519.9 million in fiscal 2020. In 2018, UiPath reported fiscal 2019 revenue of $148.5 million and a loss of $261.6 million.</p><p>As revenue rose 81% for fiscal 2021, UiPath reduced sales and marketing costs by 21%, research and development costs by 16%, and general and administrative expenses by 10%.</p><p><b>No specific plans for the funds</b></p><p>If underwriters exercise all option for shares in the offering, UiPath expects to bring in net proceeds of about $1.34 billion, based on a $56 stock price. By the end of the decade, everything we watch will be through the internet. Co-founder Jessica Rabe notes that just six of the Dow’s 30 holdings are responsible for its year-to-date gains. As of the close of business Wednesday and adjusted for rounding, they are:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b36022f6e9f32aae579f1ae2016bbc88\" tg-width=\"717\" tg-height=\"250\"></p>\n<p>What does the performance of what Rabe calls “old school, mostly ‘industrial’” stocks tell us? “They all continue to reflect confidence in reopening trades and a steepening yield curve. We remain bullish on Energy,Financials&nbsp;and Industrials,” she wrote.</p>\n<p>Of course, the blue-chip Dow isn’t only made up of industrials, despite its name. Apple Inc.&nbsp;and Salesforce&nbsp;are in the index too – and are among its worst performers in the year to date, down 9.4% and 4.8%, respectively, through March 10.</p>\n<p>“Still, the rotation into cyclicals and out of tech has been far more helpful than harmful to the Dow’s returns,” Rabe wrote. “Despite that a third of Dow names are in the red [year to date], they only account for a collective loss of 493 points to the index, or still less than Goldman Sachs’ 610 positive point contribution YTD.”</p>\n<p>Why should investors focus on this quirky small collection of price-weighted stocks? Co-founder Jessica Rabe notes that just six of the Dow’s 30 holdings are responsible for its year-to-date gains. As of the close of business Wednesday and adjusted for rounding, they are:\n\nWhat does the performance of what Rabe calls “old school, mostly ‘industrial’” stocks tell us? “They all continue to reflect confidence in reopening trades and a steepening yield curve. We remain bullish on Energy,Financials and Industrials,” she wrote.\nOf course, the blue-chip Dow isn’t only made up of industrials, despite its name.
